Yeah, varies depending on where you are. Just go with the cheapest Ali express seller, some are even sold without the Powkiddy logo, but they are all the same thing.

Or go on eBay. They are pretty indestructible, so second hand is fine. You might even get a decent SD card that way. The upside of it being low powered is that it can't really play any games that take up a lot of space, so a 32gb SD card will be more than you ever need. Unless you love Sega CD and PC engine CD, or you really hate yourself any want PlayStation with frame skip

It'll release in 2025 and feel like a handheld that would have reviewed really well two years prior.

Some kind people will improve the device with CFW or cleaning up stock and it'll be dirt cheap on AliExpress within a few months.

Anbernic will have the clear winner in terms of performance, but miyoo will deliver enough charm and jank to find a home in the market once the price comes down.

I'll agree that it's not "great" if your expectations are that it'll go head-to-head with XU Mini or 28xx, but I do think it's moved beyond "serviceable." Spruce continues to impress me with each release, and MinUI works just as well as it does on other devices. I use MinUI + A30 for SNES and below and it's a blast. Never had screen or d-pad issues, and it's super comfy.

I don't know that they'll learn much.

A30 also has a bit of a silicon, faceplate and d-pad lottery in a way that I don't think the latest Miyoo Mini / + has.

I don't have my a30 anymore but I didn't have any issues with it and did enjoy it. It just didn't jive with me the way the mini and mini plus did. Those devices are ones I'll probably have forever

The A30 doesn't feel like a Gameboy or Nintendo handheld at all, to me (despite some NES/Famicom color schemes.) Mini and Mini Plus (and other verticals) that nail that feel go a long way.

If the Flip feels like a quality product and not a toy, I think that's going to be a big factor on how it does in the market.

I got rid of my 35xx SP, but it really did feel high quality and authentic for the price.

trim ui smart pro stock OS was still very good performance. even doing psp at 2-3x full speed on many titles.(even without vulkan) ive heard crossmix is nice but it wasn't as profound as Onion imo.

like the a133p in the SP could even get better psp performance than the rk3566 which should be better on paper.

but maybe the rk3566 that ive tried was being held back by anbernic design.

mm+ was def saved with Onion and flip is probs going to need the same if it ever releases

What more do you need? At this point Spruce is inching closer to feature parity with OnionUI and deals with the same limitations Onion does. (Because neither spruce nor Onion are CFW) Some of the Onion devs work/worked on spruce. We have a game switcher beta that's arguably smoother than Onion's. Our next version has an emulator overhaul that's working down on the cpu level to maximize battery versus power, and has some performance gains. We also have apps and features Onion does not. (They have features we do not as well) Games do play better on spruce than stock, even it's earliest version had an overclock that you don't have on stock. Like ... sincerely what more can we do to improve the A30? The team is working hard on it and it just takes a beating in every community conversation because it's not better than a 2 year old UI within 5 months. Spruce is open source now and has moved to agile, there's been an update almost every two weeks with considerable changes, if you can do better, join the team.

I'm not even like "Oh Onion isn't as good as people say" it's just like what's the missing piece here? What is so vastly different between spruce and Onion that people will collectively shit on it? You can't even put them on the same device so comparing them just seems odd, and yet it happens constantly. Like damn, we're trying man.

I absolutely love my Miyoo Mini Plus and its predecessor was also liked a lot. There was another handheld ages ago that I understand also came from them and was popular. All this and some nice looking prototypes and there you have it. But the chipset choice and the quality of the A30 lowered expectations a bit

Also the battery concerns of the Anbernic SP put me off from buying it. I saw some influencers saying the affected buyers were like in the single digits but I saw too many instances of people reporting battery 🔥 online (I guess this can be faked but 🤷

Ports! And this is stronger than the 35xxSP. So idk why you're talking about the A30's ability to play N64. This should be able to play N64 pretty well. Having two thumbsticks will really help with goofy control schemes. Left thumbstick is good for PSP and Dreamcast which it should do alright in.
