I've got my unit and I gotta say it's pretty bad. Performance is terrible even in Sega Genesis. Sonic Plays in slow motion. PSX is running ok.

It's got a really heavy shader on and it's making everything run really bad.

Aparently there's no way to remove it, not that I know of. It would be nice to have a way to get into Retroarch.

GBA is laggy. I tried to play SoTN and it has music but no sound effects. SNES plays pretty well so far.

You can't change anything, what you see is what you get as far as buttons and aspect ratio.

I learned a few things

One of them is how to access the emmc. It has 3.16gb free as stock

Unfortunately, this device is never going to be popular enough to get the kind of support necessary for the right people to have it in their hands

But if I could get into it within about 2 hours, somebody like Seraph is going to do it in about 2 minutes

NES and GB does not run well because of the multiple filters and shaders applied 😂

PS1 is pretty flawless though

N64 & PSP is as expected, no Dreamcast loaded on by default

SNES is good

I'm enjoying PS1 & N64 the most on it, wish the battery would accept a charge

I think it does but the OS isn't reporting it, because I've been playing on it a while today with the red blinking battery icon

That's about my findings, minus not being able to test NES at all

Genesis is perfectly playable

I'm amused that gameboy and NES skip, but SNES is perfectly fine. That's the opposite of what you expect

So here's the scoop as I understand it from the rep.

1. My rep isn't pr or sales, he's the guy who did all the production work for this device. I.e. set up the line, contracted the "solutions company" to make a software, etc.
2. they have some ridiculous number of uncompleted units because they are so incredibly unhappy with the software the solutions company came back with. they are visibly angry that the software was supposed to be open source, but super isnt.
3. he is totally open to the community fixing it. -_-
4. The solutions company won't release basically anything to him. it's a closed source.
5. This android looks to be 8.1.0. Some of the dates and timestamps are off, like it says 2014, which can't be right. Lot's of things about this device software look like shortcuts.
6. They did not disable a few other apps and you can access them. There are exploits for them that exist but it's almost useless, since 90% of any apk you try to use won't even stage, even if you can manage to pry your way into installing unknown sources.

So

As an rk3326, you can still boot from sd card but it requires uart. There are some pads on the board that look promising but my next step is to do that. I haven't done it yet.

Using the filter they are using- i think it's scalefx- is crippling performance on a lot of systems. This is one thing my guy is super pissed about.

i suppose the positive side of all this is that the guy really did want to make a proper open source device & they ended up with pretty solid hardware in spite of being let down on the software side

so maybe they can learn from this experience and find a better software contractor for a v2 or a successor device or something
