The binding is fine, and I can see the fast forward symbol on the corner, but the speed is the same

Hey guys, i bought a r36s recently and turns out its a clone running modified arkos. i switched to rocknix due to aeolus version for clones doesnt seem to save any button konfiguration. Now im having problems with outputting sound on the rocknix OS. Does someone know if any files of the backup i made could be used or trasnlated to get audio running?

I had the same question and I commented in the Rocknix discord the solution. Sharing also here:
The RetroArch configuration resets with each new game launch, as noted in the wiki. While the wiki explains how to disable this, it's an all-or-nothing option.

However, if you need to customize the default RetroArch configuration but still want the ability to reset it after exiting a game (the best of both worlds), you can achieve this. Go to Tools -> Start RetroArch (64 bits), make your desired customizations, and then navigate to Main Menu -> Configuration File -> Save Current Configuration.

Important: Be mindful and careful about your changes. If you're unsure, back up your current configuration, located at /.config/retroarch/retroarch.cfg. Avoid resetting to defaults, as this might disrupt the Rocknix customizations for your device.

for example if i try to delete or remove buttons for Hotkey or FPS toggle then it reverts to its original button (in this case button 2) they dont get completely removed

Maybe that core is configured to run the 32 bits retroarch. Maybe you can try with the other. In my case I added the shortcut keys to increase or decrease the selected state slot (to match the stock OS). I even customized the UI interface (increase the zoom to read the options better and changed the color of the retroarch theme). I know that SNES uses the 64 bits one.

The last few days have been pretty rough for me. I’ve been trying to figure out how to install any operating system on my R36S clone that I bought from China. Sadly, none of the common OS seem to work reliably enough to be acceptable. Im pretty much working day and night with chat bots like ChatGPT or Perplexity to figure this out.

ArkOS for K36/Clone
USB data transfer (e.g., SSH/tethering) works reliably.,
EmulationStation controller recognition does not work until I import the “Image” file from a backup. However, if I do so, EmulationStation is unable to save any changes made in settings or elsewhere.,
Standalone emulators correctly recognize the controller.,

Rocknix
USB data transfer and SSH do not work at all. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if there weren’t other problems.,
EmulationStation reliably recognizes the controller.,
Standalone emulators mostly fail to recognize the controller correctly. Some buttons are missing, or when trying to map them, they either do nothing or delete the current value.,

I can't remember well, but I believe it was possible via wi-fi file transfer interface, because I remember tinkering with some config files of dolphin sometime in the past.

What I did:

1. disabled write protection via the wii emulation station setting and set controller to custom
2. under .configs/dolphin-emu i replaced WiimoteNew.ini content with the wiimote bluetooth .ini file under .configs/dolphin-emu/Profiles (copy/paste and renamed). maybe theres a simpler way to just link to it? idk
3. opened dolphin UI under tools to enable continuous scanning and set all remotes to real wiimotes (this appends info to WiimoteNew.ini)
4. replaced the content of .configs/dolphin-emu/WiiControllerProfiles/custom.ini with the content of WiimoteNew.ini

now, every time you start a game, WiimoteNew.ini content gets replaced with custom.ini (as directed by the dolphin-sa start_dolphin_wii.sh script) which now has controller mappings and settings.

you can cut out many steps just by replacing custom.ini with the provided file if you know how.

idk if these changes will be wiped by rocknix updates.
idk if every change i made was necessary or not… this is just the state of things at the point i got it working.

under Dolphin.ini i also confirmed that continuous scanning was set true and set SIDevice# = 2 (idk if that’s necessary)

perhaps someone more knowledgeable with dolphin or rocknix can tell me wuts superfluous or how to ensure the changes remain persistent between updates

i know theres similar .ini files under games-internal/roms/wii/User. idk what those do

They will not be wiped in the update. It is still always a good idea to back up anything important before doing a system update on any device though.

I often update my Odroid multiple times a day with dev builds, don't lose saves etc.

If it does go pear-shaped and you need to reflash, you will be glad of the backup though.

You do have to go through the in-game settings and painstakingly play with which gamepad button is which. But the analogue controls work nice.

But unlike my previous, desperate attempt with Winlator, the game actually runs nice with the bloom and SSAO disabled in the display settings.

I already see your problem. Extract .img file from your .gz archive.

.gz is an archive - you can't burn it onto flash drives, extract it first and then burn that file directly. No need to do any Hash options.

Launch cmd as Admin, then do this

Never select disk 0 as you will wipe your own PC

most likely your card will be disk 1 or more. After you've done it, go back to Disk Manager, right click on your SD, assign Drive letter on to it.

After that Unpack your .gz file with Rocknix image, use the .img file with Wine32Disk Imager to burn it onto your SD. If you can't do all of that - i can't help you anyhow else.

There's a version 3 hardware revision, it's not only the screen but other changes as well.. the rocknix guys know about it but aren't sure if they can get it working since uboot doesn't initialize the hardware.. muos and knulli both work on the new revision tho afaik

in case anyone needs a temporary/partial fix to this problem, you can hold down SELECT + either X, Y, or R and L. For some reason, doing that combination will allow you to input the letters A, C, L, or S (but no others, unfortunately). You won't get to write what you want, obviously, but it will allow you to get past the text input pop-ups.

Pretty much any game that prompts you to write a name for your character. usually the keyboard would automatically pop up, but for some reason it's not and I've seen others have the same problem

oh I mean like what consoles? like DS games all have ingame keyboards they use so i havent run into that on the RG DS

Is it possible to add a vpn connection on ROCKNIX? I have setup Wireguard at my home network and can connect to Moonlight through that when I’m not home.

Also if anyone is using Moonlight, how does it compare to the Android version decoding/latency wise? My host machine is linux so can’t use artemis/apollo but can use sunshine/moonlight instead.

How's the newest nightly working on RG DS? I've heard there were some problems with the RG DS with the last couple, but that lid sleep fix has me wanting to update...
