I don't feel like I have seen a vent channel in any ani/manga server that ended well, especially due to the servers' tendency to attract trolls that can prey on/worsen participants in #1186105552548417536s - ppl who come there in very vulnerable positions

That's functionally the same thing I feel. What do you think the server would need a vent channel for versus going to spaces that are more safe-guarded from trolls? Or rather smaller spaces/smaller servers. We do try our best but with how huge the server is, unfortunate incidents might fly under our radar

i think vent channels are generally a bad idea because they end up as toxic echo chambers that are hard to moderate

the intent is usually good, but people spam their emotional trauma or weird incel hate

and it's generally just a negative atmosphere

I just simply don't understand what would warrant a vent channel on the frieren server.

Not a substitute for a therapist

Nor a diary

#

And while people are friendly it's not like it's a private server with only your friends.

People suddenly using the server as a basis for all of their social needs and emotional support system have issues.

We try to steer away from anything too personal. This is why Gender, region, or age roles are not a thing even if they have been suggested before.
