#Is it possible to continue in a Terralith world without Tectonic ?

We decided to get rid of Tectonic on our world and wanted to know if we could remove it (not Terralith) and keep on our game. I tested on a singleplayer and it totally regnerated everything. Is there a way to keep some of the already generated chunks or does Terralith redo the entire map even with the same seed (chunk border disparity is not an issue, I tried pasting chunks from another world with MCA selector but it gave me an error when loading these)

removing tectonic odesn't change how terralith behaves, so it will continue generating as if it was enabled the whole time. and existing chunks cannot be changed. there may be chunk borders between old and new chunks (since you're removing a terrain overhaul), but otherwise i dont see any reason why it technically wouldn't work. just take a backup beforehand in case

I did take a backup and it started removing my world

#

This was the place we spawned in (we moved since then but for example purposes) and as you can see the server started regenerating on top of it

im not sure what would cause it then. it might be something on your server's end. terralith has zero ability to regenerate existing chunks. terralith simply tells the game what parameters to use for the generation, and then it's the game's job to generate those

send your level.dat from the world folder - a bit of a long shot, but i might be able to see something in there (won't be until tomorrow that i can look at it though)

I might have found a fix but I'll send you anyway but will update you on it if I found something, thank you !

I uploaded the world on another server for some tests and so far I managed to get both the new generation and the already generaated chunks but without any of the modifications we did (chests placed, village destruction and rebuild etc...) but with the entities still there (like a piglin with two pigs stack and a chicken on top in a boat)

This is what happens when I paste the server chunks (tectonic generated) in the 3rd pick world (terralith only), you can see on the map it's overwriting the existing chunks

Apparently the chunks are Tectonic marked?

and i do apologise for taking longer to respond than i said i would

but what is the current issue that you're running into? you've tried a few different things, but what is your current goal and the current obstacle in the way?

Don't worry I appreciate the help already
My issue is that I'm trying to remove Tectonic but keeping Terralith
However when I import my already generated chunks in a newly generated (same seed) Terralith world the game fail to load these chunks and regenerates another world / chunk in their place

#

But I think I found (and fixed the issue, fingers crossed)
It has to do with the Extended Height feature or something in Tectonic moving the build limit to 640 which is what causes the error in normal build height worlds

#

So I'm using MCA Selector to import only the lower sections of the chunks and it seemed to have worked in my test world so far so now I'm gonna try it on the server and hope it does work

let me know if there's any other weird issue that comes up - unfortunately im very unfamiliar with tectonic's weird height limit increase works and the issues it causes

#

(honestly im still impressed you're committed to removing tectonic after all these issues 😅 )

It's so hard to get people to play Minecraft I did not want to hinder their process or start over
