I don't use any other mods at the moment

I have a problem with the server is having difficulty loading the map, and lags when loading new areas of the map.
What can I do to stop or prevent this problem? 😉

Pregeneration

Worldgen alone only causes lag when generating chunks for the first time. Because of this, pregenerating your world is highly encouraged. One of the best pregen mods/plugins is Chunky, which is what we recommend.

If I change the size of the biome and the size of the mountains will it help and make a difference?

not really, its mostly mobs and like actually minecraft being minecraft

biome and terrain size does not affect lag at all

it's the biome/terrain complexity that does
