I like to watch a lot of older shows and sometimes movies and I can say for certainty that media now is not any "woker" than it was back in the day. both make contemporary jokes that may or may not be considered edgy. were homophobic/sexist etc jokes more accepted back in the day? yea, but that doesn't mean that you can't make jokes like that nowadays, as long as you do them tastefully

i'm not that many episodes into The Boys but imo it has really great jokes that many would consider "edgy"
