Summary:

As of a couple hours ago, tens of mods & modpacks, mostly on 1.16.5, 1.18.2 and 1.19.2 have been updated to include malicious files. These projects include When Dungeons Arise, Sky Villages, and the Better MC modpack series. The Curseforge profile of these accounts show someone logging into them directly.

It is very likely that someone has access to several large Curseforge profiles and have found a way of bypassing 2FA to log into them.

The DungeonsX mod downloads a java class and loads it into Minecraft, executes a function that downloads the program again, and saves it as a self running file. This mod has been added to all of Luna Pixel Studio's modpacks, and the files were immediately archived by the bad actor. It can be assumed that these files will become available again later, exposing hundreds of thousands of people to malware.

The code being executed mainly targets Linux users, likely with the intent of infecting servers. This will still affect people on Windows.

Anyways, I finished the story Fav. I'd say this game is at least 3x better then the original, maybe even more then that. I was extremely satisfied with the story, it felt extremely new, while at the same connected to the rest of the Star Wars Universe. I 100% reccomend it, but obviously you should wait until it's performance issues are resolved.

I put 30 hours into my first play through, but it could be done in probably 15 hours if you aren't looking for every little collectable and shit.

Anyways, now I'm going to see if I can get everything in the game and then not play this game until they fix all the issues with it and replay on Journey+ and hardest difficulty.

The overwolf launcher, which is the "official" way to manage and use curseforge hosted mod packs is a very large bad of hot garbage. It is riddled with ads and takes up a massive amount of PC resources which if you don't have a beast of a machine can directly impact your game. Overwolf are always looking for ways to increase the monitization of their products to the point they have and continue to try and find ways to involve charge into the mod/mod pack distribution. While some people, myself included, do occasionally donate to modders directly, the license that allows modders to make mods and not get in trouble with Mojang/Microsoft does not allow for charging for the mods. I'm sure I'm missing a LOT of other points but these are the ones I am aware of.
