The reason you are unable to type is because only one person can host at a time. The channel locks when someone is hosting and unlocks when nobody is hosting. When nobody is hosting, you have the ability to type

Only 1 person can host at a time. You won't be able to write anything until the current raid being hosted is FULL or the Raidbot sends a message that there were not enough people. Verified Hosts and Patreon Supporters can bypass this and type at any time.
