Adding external mods into a modpack

I am trying to add a mod into a modpack that was a preset in modrinth, but when I click on upload files and paste the file in it does not get added
I am new to modrinth. I've only used curseforge b4 so idk what I'm doing

Press "Upload files", select the file and click "Open" (or you can also just double click the file). If that doesn't work, click the three dots next to the settings button in the instance and click "Open folder", then paste the file manually into the mods folder.
