๐ Hello! Thank you for creating a new thread on Modrinth server

It's normal
First, close the app.
Then, you have to make a directory junction - from the location you moved it to, to the original location.
what is that
To do that:
- click Win+R, type
cmdand press enter - type
mklink /J %APPDATA%\ModrinthApp E:\Example\NewModrinthand press enter
But before doing it,
tell me which folders did you move specifically, that belonged to Modrinth?
A directory junction is basically a shortcut to a directory on the drive
i whanted to move it to D:\Modrinth App or just on my d drive if that is what you mean
What did you want to move specifically
The whole %APPDATA%\ModrinthApp or e.g. a profile folder?
yeah
Which one
appdata
Alright
Then do this:
- click Win+R, type
cmdand press enter - type
mklink /J %APPDATA%\ModrinthApp D:\"Modrinth App"and press enter
If any error appears send a screenshot here
Remember to close the launcher before this
mklink /J %APPDATA%\ModrinthApp D:"Modrinth App" paste that in the cmd?
yeah but remember to put the \ after the D: if it's not there
nah just remove that character (i meant to put it after D: but its there so)
send a screenshot please
okay are you sure that the full path that you moved it to is D:\Modrinth App?
i have the app in D:\Modrinth App also is it bc of that or do i make a new folder
nah its good but
this is stadard
yeye ik
ok mb
well try doing mklink /J C:\Users\Gebruiker\AppData\Roaming\ModrinthApp D:\"Modrinth App"
or mklink /J C:\Users\Gebruiker\AppData\Roaming\ModrinthApp "D:\Modrinth App"
nope
weirdddd
1 sec
try doing mklink C:\Users\Gebruiker\AppData\Roaming\ModrinthApp D:\"Modrinth App"
(without the /J)
btw can you change it in the app itself?
or does it not have an edit option, only seeing
its says denied
on this one
Alright
if i try to change the thing in the app it gives me this error code
That means either:
- You have Modrinth running (do
taskkill /f /im Modrinth App.exeand try again) - The appdata\ModrinthApp folder got recreated - delete it
- You need to do it via cmd
Wait
Now I think the issue could be your D:\Modrinth App folder
Did you do something with its permissions?
Did you do anything with its permissions yes or no
i dont think so
Is the PC you're using shared with other people or do only you use it?
only me
Alright. Try setting permissions to all checked for every user for the D:\Modrinth App folder
and trying to run Modrinth App again
If it doesn't work and you have no idea why, try running Modrinth App with administrator
do you whant me to turn my pc to inglish so you can read it
Nah i use google translate (Incase I need it)
(like this:
did that
Does it work now?
do i change in the app or mklink C:\Users\Gebruiker\AppData\Roaming\ModrinthApp D:"Modrinth App" this
If it works after running it as admin or after mklinking it then it's good
If it works only after running as admin, well, I guess that's the only way
Please do not run any Minecraft launchers as Administrator (on Windows) or using sudo (on Linux).
This poses a high security risk, as it grants the launcher, Minecraft, and every mod it loads full access to your system.
Moreover, it never actually solves the issue you might have with your launcher.
i know but when theres no other way then its worth a try
imaginary i pinged you can you help
did he try to reinstall app?
reinstalling will recreate the %APPDATA%\ModrinthApp folder
it's probably better to just move it back
well i didn't suggest it as it's pointless imo
did you blocked me ๐
i was afk
mklink /D "C:\Users\Gebruiker\AppData\Roaming\ModrinthApp" "D:\Modrinth App" @carmine tapir idk how this works
If it shows an error then I really have no clue how to do it otherwise
If C:\Users\Gebruiker\AppData\Roaming\ModrinthApp exists you can rename it and then try again
**fixed typo
it says cant make files that already exists
^
rename that name?
rename the ModrinthApp in appdata if it exists in there
and then mklinking again
you can try with /D if you want
cant i rename C:\Users\Gebruiker\AppData\Roaming\ModrinthApp to D:\Modrinth App
that doesnt make sense
you would rather want to do the opposite
but you probably want to make it stay on the other drive so thats why i recommend using mklink
i whant it to be on the d drive
exactly
i dont get it
Gebruiker? Hi fellow dutchy
Just deinstall it and copy the instances you wanna keep, then reinstall it on D and copy over the instances folder you saved
Don't see an easier fix, sry
@amber shadow
@wise jacinth how do i do that
