#Is there a way for my server members to update their packs without losing personal settings?

So I uploaded my modpack to Modrinth with hopes that as I change the modpack for my friends, they can just simply update the modlist, configs and other files (shaders, textures, etc) without losing their map data (from xaeros world map) or distant horizon data or their keybinds (and other settings I can't remember atm)

If there is a way for them to just update the list, how do they do it? Or is it just not possible? Right now everyone just manually adds and removes things as needed and it can get frustrating for them if they miss more than a few updates because it can be a pain to change that much

Yes, use yosbr

#

If you set it up right, it copies default settings but leaves custom ones alone.

you can update modpacks using the launcher

cuz unless there's an update button (that isn't the update mods button) that none of us can find it's our only option atm

you can change the modpack version in the instance settings

#

if ur using the modrinth launcher

My server used packwiz-installer to run at startup, check for updates, auto-update, and launch the game

idk if we're just stupid but none of us found a proper way to change modpack versions besides deleting the old and reinstalling the newest one

Most launchers can update them for you, as long as it's hosted somewhere.

can I choose what files don't get overwritten in yosbr? I only need keybinds, map data and distant horizon data to stay the same

#

I know it mentions keybinds and graphics

sweet

ruby silo

Dh data is not something you usually distribute with a modpack though

whole schooner
#

no I know, I want my friends to be able to keep their own data because when updating between versions before they'd lose all said data

ruby silo
#

Oh, so not just configs

#

How are they updating?

whole schooner
#

unless updating through the instance menu doesn't errase/overwrite that

ruby silo
#

Updating a modpack shouldn't erase any data unless that data is included in the modpack.

#

Yosbr makes it so you can have defaults rather than overriding player options

whole schooner
#

ohhh ok sorry, I thought when changing versions it would just completely overwrite it

#

like everything
