#Server node unavailable error message
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I am having the same trouble and have been trying to get in contact with Modrinth for a day now
But nothing
they dont reply
i sent a long message in modrinth chat and they completly ignored it
and just talk about restocks
@agile kestrel @queen bronze #modrinth message
they dont care for fixing it it looks like
one of them reacted to it
so they saw it
take a read at that message
trust me ive seen it
he spoke about the node that's causing trouble for people
all he said was we have to look upstream nothing else
he said that he has to look upstream
according to my understanding, Pyro needs more server stuff, and the people providing pyro with server stuff is taking their sweet time
well then the issue would be they keep trying to crank out new nodes with their limited staff instead of fixing their existing problem
they also said that their team was working on the node that's down and that if all else fails, they'll just get rid of the node and reroute servers on that node towards different nodes
yes well my question is why didnt they just reroute thge sevrers right away instead of launching new ones
help the people that already have signed up instead of greeding for more profit
that's just how businesses work unfortunately, if you have something, try to make it work so it continued bringing in money, and only when its impossible to fix will you go with another option
but they also said that the people who had issues because of this node problem should theoretically get credit for the time the server was down
so if it goes on for a week, then we should get a week for free
well it just depends how they want thier reputation to be they can do pracitcly a pump and dump get people in and give shitty service and they will fail eventually or prioritize good service
i could not care less about a 4 dollar credit
Are we in charge of making sure that happens or will it happen automatically
i jsut want it to work as it should not get my money back cus they want to sign up more people than give quality service
by all means, I'm sure that this node being down is a reasonable reason to request a refund from modrinth
I didnt realize their system was so volatile, I would think being one of the more mainstream sites now they would have these wrinkles ironed out
technically modrinth is pretty new to server hosting in the grand scheme of things
they don't got the anchors that people like apex hosting have
modrinth has been around for a while for mods and plugins, but not hosting
to be honest things liek this do happen for sure its not an if it happens but how they responde when it does
but to give them credit, they dont seem like it at all if you ignore the issues like this. The website and "portal" are very well done
that's completely valid, they did apologize for the how this is turning out and that they understand they should be dealing with it better than they are, but the countermeasures they prepared weren't enough for the boom they experienced
very true, love modrinths layout of everything and the easy access
They literally out did themselves I guess
👍
they do amazing with 9999%
genuiinly amazed at everything before this
like easiest software to use by far
i did this becuase my girlfriend never playing before used it by herself
so like great on that
Also, this support channel is rocketing to the top of the list because of the engagement👍
Yeahh good to have
I messaged a very nice person infinidoge and they said that they are working on transferring all data from that node right now and putting it on a new one but it’s a slow connection and a lot of data so will take some time
I know personally my server was gbs and there was many others on that node so
Does anyone know how to check what node your server is on if it’s down?
Or if it’s even possible? I see Tamarac may be up again but mine is still down so I’m wondering what mode to pay attention to
Sorry, Pecan is back up but tamarack is still undergoing maintenance.
Infinidoge was talking about it in #modrinth
Yeah all good and appreciate it
@deft heart Is there a way to check what your server node is if the node is already down?
yeah, once the server is back up im probably going to switch providers. this is the second time this has happened.
I do not want to but I am starting to feel like I have to. I like the concept but the fact this happens and there is no communication (at least GOOD communication) about how they are working to resolve and fix issues is hard to look over.
i have no idea what node im on but it was working yesterday until my friend tried to join around 5am today (probably wasnt working eariler than that but 🤷♂️ ) and it still isnt working now
Same
If your server is on Tamarack, we're working to get it resolved as fast as we can,
The unfortunate problem is that extracting the data from the node is extremely slow
Tamarack in particular is getting retired and replaced with different hardware, because this is the second time it's had a big issue, and we can't trust it anymore
For context:
The first big issue was a network outage, things were running but traffic couldn't come in and out
The current problem, however, was sudden and not-quite-catastrophic
We were rebooting the server after an interruption, should be a standard 5 minute downtime and nothing more, and the storage refused to mount.
We still don't know why or how. All hardware tests indicate everything is fine. We just... couldn't load the storage, despite all of our best efforts
We have figured out how to extract the data unharmed, so your data is safe, however because of how we're able to extract it it is extremely slow
Like sometimes on the order of kilobytes per second
This week has been... exhausting for us, to say the least,
We're dealing with 3 separate very-high-priority issues all at once, so each one can't receive our full focused effort
Well can you tell us how far the transfer is so far
I see, why don't you guys make an announcement to tell people clearly what is happening?
An unfortunate calamity of factors makes that difficult
Additionally we didn't expect it to be this involved
The entire situation is kinda like trying to move something across the road when you get hit by a bus
I can't discuss more details due to NDA, however that fact alone is probably telling as to its severity
Okay, thank you for clarifying
oh dang, hopefully you guys get this resolved soon and without too much hair pulling
Yeah
(also once its not under nda you should totally spill all of the details i find this stuff so interesting :P)
Once it's not under NDA, I can assure you it will be readily apparent
@deft heart is there a way to confirm which node our server was one? I figured it’s Tamarack at this point but still curious
Usually you'd do it in the panel, but that doesn't exactly work at the moment
If you happen to know your server ID (the long string of letters/numbers/dashes in the panel URL), then I can try and check from our side
im guessing if the node unavailable screen says the node is undefined that is a decent indication its that one?
As of currently, yes
I think that shows up like that because the server was frozen somewhere in the database
However as the frontend isn't my department, I don't know for sure
Any update on this @deft heart
Pinged the other engineer, both for an update and where I can check it for myself
Also went ahead and asked if we can extract specific servers individually so we can try and relocate you all as fast as possible
Thank you I appreciate it again thank you in particular you have been the only reason we know anything
Any way to give a rough estimate on how much longer this data transfer will take based on the rate it’s been going at and how much is left?
2nd that
seems like my server is back?
yo my server looks like its up too
I think theirs were on pecan, maybe sweetgum
Pecan had to be restarted last night which could have potentially fixed it
any update on the other one then?
its been over 3 days noow and i just want to play
Yes, now that I am back in I am on Pecan, strange because I had the same Node error that they all had since 10pm tuesday night
I suspect that the upstream connection failed in such a way that it didn't trigger our monitoring, so it was left in a weird state for a while
Hard to say
I'm currently working on deploying the new hardware, while waiting for the other engineer to get back to me
They can't escape me forever
okay i pray soon
@golden violet Alright so:
I have gotten confirmation that the data for servers has been extracted from tamarack, at least as best as I can see
Given your server ID, I can get your data and migrate it to another node, as I imagine you don't want to wait for tamarack2 to be brought up
If you can send me the server ID (the random letters/digits from the URL of the panel and from the error message), I can get that going
You're getting moved to pine :)
Thank you again so much
Please feel free to ping me when u get a chance and it’s done
also thank you and the rest of the team for getting everything fixed as fast as you did <3
Still transferring files! Your server is definitely on the larger end at ~4.5gb
Yeah lmao figured of it
Was about to upgrade cus I’m running plenty of mods
Again appreciate the update
could someone please try to help me with my server :(
🫡
Heya, can I get your server id?
Can you ping me in the thread?
sorry can you pleas explain how to do that T-T
oh
the title of my post is "Inconsisten Ping"
what is on this server man? did you remake wikipedia in minecraft books or something? /s
Would you believe it!
Still transferring
Lmaoooooo slow connection or somthing else lol
Yeah makes sense lol I can just imagine you staring at a progress bar
Forgetting more ever few mins lol
Lmaoooo sick but I’m sure tedious
WOO IT'S THROUGH THE WORLD
AYYYYY
Once this is done, you might want to consider trimming your world and deleting chunks that people have only walked through, like those <5m of existence
That could reduce the world size by a lot
Would you believe it!
It is no longer still transferring!

YEAH FIGURES LMAOOO out base is like -10k -6k
Yep that would do it
Just need to move the files into place (they were copied to a temporary directory), update the database, and give archon a gentle kick
Appreciate it so much
did you not have them downloading in parallel?
Probably not, I was just using scp since I knew it would work
thats fair
Alright @golden violet, server is now back in the panel, now on pine, you should be good to go!
Have fun
thanks and im sorry to bother again @deft heart buit now im getting an error when i start server
its a code 0?
java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "net.minecraft.server.level.ServerLevel.getWorldBorder()" because "serverlevel2" is null
yeah i didnt have this before so im a little confused
but like it seamed to roll back slighty im guessing as a mod i added maybe an hour or two before the server went down wasnt installed '
but i reinstalled the library for it and now its only that error
Try restarting the server
Just made sure to fix the permissions, since I suspect I forgot to change them for inner files
all good foor that and yeah its working now that i waited a min thank you
i appreciate it a ton my gf is logged on and looks like it works again 🙂
Alright, have fun for real this time
thx am
Pecan seems to be having some issues again lol
could my server keep crashing because of my end? like is the package too small for what I am running? or is it on Pyros end? @deft heart P.S. sorry to ping ya.
@median topaz Sorry for the delay, pecan has been restarted so you should be good now
Thank you
@deft heart so, I cant start my server. it says its trying to reconnect and then goes back to being off
@dim solstice New and interesting problem for you, Pecan says the JWT is none and fails to verify
Restarted archon and kyros and it seems to work now @median topaz, sorry for the delay
Seems like the logic is a bit buggy when only kyros restarts hmmm
