transfering instances from windows to linux

i moved my machine over to linux, and i saved all my instances, but when putting the profile folder into the modrinthapp dir, nothing shows up
do i have to edit a file or something to get them to show up in the app?

i cant just move over the app.db, since 0.8.8 doesnt work on linux so im not sure what to do in this situation

TL;DR make a new profile with the same Minecraft/modloader version and copy the files over
