Getting a "getsockopt" error when connecting to a server

I'm not sure where else to turn to, but my friend can't seem to join any server, always getting an error along the lines of

"Failed to connect to the server connection timed out : getsockopt"

Every single thing I see only says something about a firewall and they don't even have theirs on? does anybody know what we can try?

My other friend has no trouble joining, so I don't think it's an issue with the port and it's the same error regardless of the modpack they use or even if they use the wrong ip

getsockopt means that server don't want him join to the server. you need better hosting or he maybe joins while a server starts

and another friend is able to join my server just fine?

if they don't have their firewall on, that's not good

I only turned mine off breifly to see if making the exceptions for java would even be worth it

i see that connection timed out. it means that ur friend has bad internet or the server cant find / ignoring his request to join the server.

Alright, then is there a way to fix this? Or is it just down to them getting better internet?

Well, given that video pretty much only went over all the things I've already mentioned trying, I'm not so sure it will...

But good news! I found a work around!

I used world host and it seemed to somehow get around it

not sure why

but it did!

Trying to follow that tutorial to fix my issue, and there's like 20 or so javaw listed, but no javaw.exe

Also trying to find zulu.exe, but I'm having no luck
