it crashes, that's all the info I have, unfortunately.

#

I can try to get some more, but I'm not sure where to look

ripe mauve
#

I think it's most likely a Create addon that is not compatible with the specific version of Create you're using.
I can see if I can narrow down which one just from looking at the changelogs of each addon, you can also try disabling some on your end to try and find the mod at fault.

#

hmm I'm not having much success tracking these down, may be quicker to just try disabling some addons and see which ones weren't working

vapid jay
#

okie doke!

#

I have disabled some addons and it's crashing different. Progress.

Try fabric

vapid jay
#

okie

vapid jay
#

with fabric

This crash is unrelated to whether you are using Quilt or Fabric. It appears to be coming from Roughly Enough Items, and may be related to the mod's config file. Try deleting the config file for REI, and launch the game again to get the config file to regenerate.

#

ah shit.

#

I'll switch back to quilt, and take out goggles, and do the REI thing

#

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

#

thank y'all for trying to help me, btw

ripe mauve
vapid jay
#

I have tremedously bad luck when it comes to mods

#

... what if I just delete the whole config folder. make it regenerate the whole thing

#

because it seems like there's a lot of things in there it can't find

ripe mauve
#

oh that might work too! it's possible that there was a config file from REI that was missed in there as well

#

try that, and see if it works

#

if not, maybe something else is causing the config to fail to load, like some other mod causing a mod conflict

ripe mauve
vapid jay
#

deleting the config folder did not fix it. which means that there is some mod in here causing problems.

ripe mauve
#

darn ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

ripe mauve
#

yep, still the same crash

vapid jay
#

I'm just gonna kill REI

#

there are alternatives.

ripe mauve
#

Sounds good!

If you do happen to want to try and debug it further by any chance, to try and get REI working, best bet to identify the mod that is conflicting is a "binary search". This is basically disabling about half of the mods in the instance, keeping REI and any dependencies enabled if needed, running the remaining half, and seeing if it crashes or not. Whether it does or not, now you have an idea of which side the conflicting mod is on.
From there, you can take half of the broken half, and rinse and repeat until you have narrowed down which mod is conflicting.

#

But yea I was just about to suggest that if you're not extremely attached to REI, there are alternatives like EMI

vapid jay
#

OH C'MON

#

now it's supplementaries.

#

which... I'm slightly more attached to, but I'm more attached to getting this working

ripe mauve
#

oh, that's a really odd one

vapid jay
#

turned off Supplementaries... now it's Axiom

ripe mauve
#

It's not related to Supplementaries directly, but it's something wrong with the LWJGL library that Minecraft uses

#

so a lot of stuff is gonna break

vapid jay
#

LWJGL?

#

anyway I can fix that?

#

maybe if I make a new instance of minecraft and move the mod files over, that could fix it?

tacit wadi
#

I don't think you can fix it

#

it's like deep in how Minecraft exists

#

or smth idr

ripe mauve
#

No... there is always a fix

tacit wadi
#

modrinth doesn't support tweaking it afaik

#

Prism does iirc actually

ripe mauve
#

It is a core library that Minecraft requires, but that doesn't mean it is untouchable if something is wrong

tacit wadi
#

Oh nvm it's not embedded in Minecraft

#

well it's still not touchable trough theseus

vapid jay
#

ok. made a new instance with the same version of quilt. it launches. I see no reason that the game would become horrendously broken by me copying the enabled mods over

ripe mauve
# vapid jay anyway I can fix that?

I think first try repairing the instance (Instance management -> Repair Instance). I'm hoping that will re-download the LWJGL library properly. I took a peek at the last mclogs link, and there is actually a problem with the LWJGL (which if youre curious stands for the Lightweight Java Game Library)

#

oh, that works too! if that instance managed to launch

#

I'm not really sure what happened, but it was saying that the LWJGL version wasn't matching the Java version and that's very odd

#

but yea if you still want to try fixing that first instance with all your mods set on it, you can try repairing the instance. I'm not 100% sure if the library will re-download but it is worth a shot.

Taking a peek at the original error with REI I think this LWJGL issue may actually be related, so once you have gotten at least one of your instances stable enough, try re-adding REI.

vapid jay
#

WHAT. HOW.

#

EXPLAIN TO ME YOUR SECRETS JAVA

ripe mauve
#

good news, this is a different crash now :)

Farmer's Knives is a little broken and has a hard dependency on Botania, a completely unrelated mod: https://github.com/ianm1647/farmersknives/issues/16
You'll probably want to remove Farmer's Knives in this case unless Botania is a mod you're interested in adding lol

vapid jay
#

IT LAUNCHED TO THE MAIN MENU

ripe mauve
#

yoooo awesome!

tacit wadi
#

Yoo nice congrats

vapid jay
#

after tweaking some mods around it now gets into the game

#

Thank you both so much!

Are you also crashing on startup and that's why you are asking? Your reason for crashing is almost certainly different, so I would recommend making a new post in #1194455551212527696 and sharing the log just like in the first post here. If you need help with finding the log feel free to ask

vapid jay
#

swapping to Fabric seems to fix the issue

#

why? who knows.

#

but not the crash
