So we’ve made a few changes to servers, first of all we’ve increased the stasis-replication range for structures (significantly) and dinos, by about +70%. This means you’ll be able to see them from further way before they “de-render”. Additionally, we’ll be making use of instanced rendering for all our structure tilesets (think building pieces), meaning bases are going to run a lot better!

At the moment, we’re still keeping the servers capped at 70 players. With a lot of the other changes we’ve made, we’ve had to make some trade-offs and right now the tech (nor hardware) isn’t quite there yet to increase the slot cap much higher. We’ll be evaluating this over time and see whether we can increase it as further engine upgrades and optimizations' come through (either via Epic or us). Yes. My attempts to steamcmd the game itself resulted in it erroring. I also looked through the game files and compared it to the ASE dedicated server game files and my ASE game. And the ASE game and ASA game don't have server files. I also attempted to run ASA via command line giving the usual arguments, but it just started loading ASA

This is vague and inaccurate. Marbis / Nitrado only has exclusivity for Official and Commercial ASA and ARK 2 hosted Servers. ASE is free from that because Wildcard released ASA prior to 31 Oct. 2023. Further even Nitrado's own FAQ confirms self hosted on own hardware is not something they have any control over.

Yes but this means other providers are completely locked out. That's the issue. So Nitrado can do things, like they are, making the minimum cap 24 players so they can jack the price to 50$ a server easily. Non-Dedicated servers have this atrocious tether system that zips your friends across the map to you (which is funny) but not condusive to general play.

Keep in mind that Snail Games owes Nitrado millions of dollars for past hosting and they can't pay it because they're broke.

There's a very real possibility we're being offered up to Nitrado to settle that debt, and they've agreed not to give us the ability to self host for a time, or ever, in order to more effectively settle that debt since we have no options other than to pay Nitrado.

Given they won't tell us what's happening, I'm assuming that's because the news that we can't self host will dramatically harm sales and that's the last thing they want during the initial sales push.

I think the community needs to start considering this as a very real potential outcome of this situation now and not get your hopes up that we'll get hosting files anytime soon.

As for the LowLevelFatalError I see a few of yall getting, you might want to try verifying integrity of games files 1st, also I know having shadows set to low in ASE caused this crash to randomly happen sometimes so maybe try jumping it up to medium, I know that it makes no sense but it happened to me constantly in ASE until one day i just did that. Also make sure gfx card drivers are updated ect...

Can't self host unless Nitrado grants you a license to self host. In order to be eligible to even be considered you have to have a community of 10,000+ active members.

So not only is the eligibility bar really high, you also have to wait 14 days to even find out if you'll be granted the privilege of self hosting.

Opened the Game.ini file from my PC (Which, by the way, does NOT have the TamingSpeedMultiplier in it, thats in the GameUserSettings.ini file) and it the one guy said to just C/P the entirety of it into the web interface.. For those waiting, Nitrado will NOT release the files nor the ID, they said in an article on their website that if you want to host a dedicated session on your own hw, you need to apply for a 'Dedicated License'. As a server administrator I say that in order not to clog the network channel, we have to use plugins to disable Ammo boxes, to relieve the network channel of the player, so that he could receive updates from the server and around him did not start flying fish and other Dinos.

What makes you think anyone will give you dedicated servers quickly?
They have contracts that require you to bring in as much money as possible through nitrado's servers so they can pay off the debt.

You can keep all your complaints and threats to yourself, they look ridiculous.

About optimization, at least they need to move to UE5.3 as there is a lot more work done to optimize the engine, and then they will gradually improve it a little.

You can but you'll have to deal with the tethering as usual. And if you crash as the host then you will probably lose progress. It is ok for a temporary test but not a long play session

This is utter nonsense.
Initially I thought it would be a temporary measure, but in fact they gave their game to nitrado, made it exclusively for them.
I bought the game primarily because I'm a server admin and we have a whole team, a person who makes plugins for the server, 3 people who make mods, another 1 person who draws graphics.

And we actively developed the first part and attracted players to it.

I ordered advertising from youtubers, social networks and various discord groups.

We were improving the experience of the first part of the game, which the developers were killing more and more with their stupid updates.

Now developers who sincerely do not understand why their first part of the game lost popularity (thinking that the problem is in the old engine or balance, or that the game is just bored and outdated, although it's not about that at all).

They create a new game and at the very beginning they bury it in the ground and take away from people who could help in its development all opportunities and desire to do it...

I'm going to keep doing ASE until it completely dies, it's the only thing left since ASA is a dead baby for me.

What's the point of me having a game that I bought to support the developers and to keep my dedicated servers going if that ability is taken away from me?

This is common for steam servers, you only get the server WITH your ark purchase hence you can only have 1 active MACHINE with servers (just like how you can only play your copy of ark on one machine at a time!), You can run as many maps as you want as long as they are on the SAME hardware. It's a tricky concept to understand without the actual server kit but we will get it. Like people keep saying please be patient with the devs, I speculate priority is official stability before unofficial. As sated below V, other steam games have very similar systems to the new ark dedi kit.

Its not as much the concept, with login anonymous on steam cmd we can download as many instances of the server files as we wish and there is nothing built into steam to restrict it as the rep mentions however the horrible marketing from nitrado along with the little information provided by wildcards really implies their service is a step up from the "limitation" of only hosting 1 map they describe its just really terrible on nitrado's part, If login anonymous does not work and it would require me to buy a second copy of the game for my rack to run it i would have no problem with this since i could host 1000's of users as a 1 off cost that is the same as nitrado's monthly 26 slot server which is robbery considering their excuse is more ram is required for these servers when ram is as cheap as its ever been.

It would have cost wildcard nothing to mention oh btw ASA is going to no longer use login anonymous and you will need to authenticate with a steam account that has the game to spin these up.

The Front doesn't allow login anonymous to download the server files initially, but also doesn't require me to have a second account/purchase to get a server set up. There are a couple that don't have login anonymous enabled for server files download, but they're kind of rare.

In case anyone hasn't seen it, Nitrado's "ARK: Survival Ascended Server Hosting Exclusivity News" news post from an hour ago has some more info on dedicated servers (the bot blocks links). It says you need to have at least 10 thousand active members to apply for a license, though, and I'm not aware of an ARK cluster that is still that big.

I'll cram this all into one message since there's a slowdown. 😄 With my setup for The Front, I had to have my user name and password to download the server files, but not to run them that I can see. So, I can run a server on a VM, and play on my PC without extra accounts or purchases. It also took a couple of days to discover that I needed to install the steam client to get a couple of servers for UE5 games to run - The Front and Athos. They need the api to operate. NOTE: You do not need to actually log into steam on your server VM or hardware after installing the client, it just needs to be installed for the api. No extra accounts or purchases of the game are required, just some hoops to jump through. And I know this may not apply to Ark, but I found it interesting that both of these games in UE5 needed the client installed to run the servers properly.

We are not sure yet. But I think it will be the case that you can run multiple servers with multiple maps at the same time but you have to run them on the same physical computer at the same time. If you want to run more servers on a different computer (for example because your PC is not strong enough to run more at the same time) you would have to buy a second copy of the game and make a second steam account to do that. That's the gist of what we have so far I think

People like Seaaser, goofy hero, and a couple other YouTubers have posted videos. Seassers worked for me, he had worse specs to a 3060 specifically. I’m running the game at 80-100 fps without over clock. Games pretty fine for me, I’m on epic to medium settings to, I’d probably be at 120 easily on low. Nitrado has exclusivity so they don't want the files to be released so other hosts can start hosting.

This is a poor way of going about this server files should be available to the community and then you can go sue any commercial host that goes against the exclusivity.

I believe that when the server files are online, self hosting will be exactly the same as in ASE. I think Nitrado's reports are a tactic to win a lot of customers. Many people are confused and don't know what's going on. Server files are not online yet. But people want servers. So nitrado can still attract customers. And they already had partner programs with content creators before. There is no better advertising for nitrado. From my point of view it's just tactics.

alright folks i got a server side setting that will help with fps..
run this through the consol remember 1 would be 100% is default and 0.01 would be 1% of all useless grass foilage which in turn will give players higher fps..
grass.densityScale 0.01 for 1% for higher fps gain or 0.1 for 10%..

what folks arent grasping is the fact that ark devs finally have a way to get more money from game server hosts, and make it harder to make money off hosting multiple game servers on 1 machine.. you want more then 1 dedi server per machine, so buy it, you will be required to purchase another cd key ie: steam account, you will end up with a bunch of free games to hand out to friends to play on, as you created the steam account to buy the 1 game to use as a login for a 2nd server and so on..
