Happened before to other games too. And at some point, sooner or later, it will happen to ark too, do you really think the servers will stay the same for the next 3-4 years? Counter strike source is nowadays an empty land filled with cheaters and the occassional veteran player just playing for the memes, while CSGO has gone under some measures to counter this for over 10 years... what makes you think anyone would stick to something they know it will just go downhill when they can choose a better, fresh option?

Asking for people's opinion. I see most people looking for tribe in the recruitment channel only want 1x official or smalls.

What is the allure to these vs a seasonal cluster like classic/conquest/arkpoc? Do people just not like the thought of seasonal wipes and losing their progress? Yet official and smalls seems to have a lot more broken Dino lines, mega tribes, and more questionable players who use questionable methods to advance and pvp. They are way harder to get established on. And even if you do, you're likely to get wiped anyway because there is always going to be someone stronger out there.

Edit: I guess you also have the fact that classic/conquest are not supported by Wildcard and that arkpoc resets every month which is a little short.

My opinions is basically pointless as my experience is not much, but i have played games like rust or escape from tarkov where wipes are a thing.

I feel like officials is more of like.. people enjoying the game as something to spend a lot of time in, a bit like a "second world" of some sort. I prefer wipes for the exact reasons you mentioned.

I prefer feeling like i can compete and more fair PvP in a way

And i'd assume officials would not have that (again, my experience is lacking.)

I do agree in that if your base gets wiped in seasonal, it's easier to catch back up in progress to other tribes and also you can just opt to take a break until next season instead of having to play relentlessly to stay ahead and keep your base defended.

IMHO Arkpoc is a great place to learn PVP, cause its a fast fail, fast learning environment, with low investment, everything wipes in 30 days, so no big deal. Nothing you worked ages on. Sure there's cheaters there, but you'll see those in any public server. best to learn how to work around them.

this is the problem with ark defense vs offense balance. If you don't have tek turrets you are SOL. Takes time to get tek turrets going, not enough counter measures in the early-to mid game if you join servers late. Thus the reason the 30 day wipe servers are popular. Too much power creep at the top end. Basically have to try and live like a hobbit/nomad until you can try to deploy teks. In the mean time before you get tek, you still need to raise dinos to do boss fights. Just the odds are stacked against you due to power creep of offensive tactics vs defense tactics. Most people going to offline you because it guarantees more loot and quicker raid.

steggos are way easier to farm than heavys + bullets. a few breeding steggos exponentially increases the amount of steggos at disposable as more females are produced. Pretty easy to passive raise dinos with all the tools at your disposable, while to create heavies/bullets you have to actively create it while not able to do other ark things. You can't really farm bullets fast enough to keep up without a replicator.

no, sure ark 2 will be fully cross-play with console. ark is on game pass if you have that and want to try it. xbox version has a few more glitches and the windows store version has a lot more. They basically ported PC to xbox then xbox back to PC/window stores instead of PC to windows store/PC directly probably due to way xbox windows store handles games.
