its 255, the mutation count is just the sum of the count of each the mother and fathers lines and doesnt actually show the amount of mutations. you can breed the 1 mutation each parents children and there kids of each generation and so on and never get another mutation but the count will just keep goign up.

even in boosted stats server the limits are still 255 per stat, each point is just worth so much more %

Both are viable, smalls more so

Smalls is easy to get loot but hard to hide it and official is hard to get loot but easy to hide it , smalls is faster paced and for a solo is easier to get stuff but official you are less likely to get found as almost everyone is in a big tribe

Not sure where to try to build a base to get started on the island map. I tried herb island but got griefed there. Moved to a spot in the trees and rocks but thats a matter of time until its found with rendering. Ive thought about making a raft base but im concerned with the leed. All my raft experience it has destroyed my rafts just crusing around. I cant imagin sitting overnight and to the next day.

Yeah, since turrets will go for center of mass on your dino and if you soak head on for some reason you'll take auto/heavy shots in the face lol.

My tribe and I are having a debate. We just finally got a decent base location on smalls with room to breed and fortify. Some want to keep the tames inside the base on neutral/aggressive so if someone gets past our turrets the inside tames will at least put up a fight. Others want to keep them on passive because unmounted tames do virtually nothing to a raider, and it helps keep things organized. Thoughts?

when you think about it, each biome on gen 1 is its own separate map with its own conditions

Hi, I was just looking to see if there was optimization I could do.
I came across a launch setting to force directx10. I noticed my system is using directx12.
would it cause a problem to set it to directx10? Is there even any beifit for it? I read mixed things about ark supprot for directx12 so not sure if its supproted but i have been using 12 for what i know.

Secondly changing setting in .ini files is this leagal in terms of offical servers? Would you get banned for changing settings in these files before starting game?

Dx10 Setting is much smoother than a normal game, it wont harm your pc in anyway but will make ark look less pretty. From what i know, Servers have their own ini so whatever you do nothing is going to happen to you in servers.. but take this information with a grain of salt because i do not know much about servers

Depends how its been programmed. Normally programs/applications I know generally allow setting overriding.
So server level would be generic defaults, then a local user setting would override a server level. (Depends though how its implemented if at all)
Also concerned may TOC's would say editing such files would be bannable offence.

i dont know how to say this but. ark encourages you? to modify ini, its safe and not against game TOC's because if its Sp its your experience and doesnt affect others

They just really muddied the waters.
I would have said only setting options available in game are allowed changes.
But then in patch notes they said things can be changed at file level.
Really makes it risky to know what you can/cannot change without risking being banned.
This is my issue there is no clear definitive guideline. Just wishy washy left to inertrepretation.

No they aren’t . They have so many counters . Karkis wyverns quetz poison nade rockets grapple weight then change turret settings. There are so many counters nets are just too broken

If you are looking to start your own lines I wouldn't even bother mate, your better off trading or raiding for them and then start breeding. As a new player you won't catch up to the lines going around these days. As for when you do need to, just keep scouting for a consistently dead server to set up a breed spot

Foundations don't stop walls or ceilings from being built. If you can build above or below, you can fortnite your way down and tekrifle the platform.

Foundations don't stop non-foundation pieces from being placed. You can build a tunnel to stand in.

If it's on the platform, just bring enough element to shoot down the platform and you get everything that was inside.

I really depends on the placement of where you can attach foundys, and where the platform you're raiding is.

One good example of what I mean - think of the Center ice cave moonpools - people have raided it by laying foundations below, building up, and building a tunnel long enough to get behind the turret walls placed there.

Fortnite'ing is expensive as a solo, but depending on the profit it can be worth it. Just have to make sure you have structure support to wherever it is you need to shoot the platform from.
