What?
Yo wildcard, we waiting for asa gameplay trailer? Teaser, something. š Oof
i sad will you be the one to give us asa trailer and asa news lol
Why would I be the one to give out trailers?
snail and wild card will not lol
....What?
your name is boot leg your going to boot leg asa trailer for us all lol

Free promotional keys tho š
will we get to play as vin disel in ark 2
From an unofficial, for playing on their server.
Which implies they're paying for it.
Either way it isn't EARLY access for content creators.
No, he's a story-character/NPC.
We'll still have our own unique abominations.
30th
When will be told that ASA has been pushed back again?
Does anyone know how to use the last saves? Is it gonna be like the dedicated single player files, or do we have to buy server space?
It wont.
They're kind of hardlocked in releasing it in October now.
You can use them for single player/dedicated or non dedicated saves.
There's a tutorial in the pins somewhere in #general
I doubt that is really true. No pre-orders and no release date close to a month before
Technically we're still beyond a month before release, as it's not coming till the 'end' of October.
Also, Steam doesn't allow pre-orders for Early-Access titles.
There's also a legal document Snail-Games posted awhile back ago (weeks ago) about Snail x Nitrado deal, and one section basically states "if ASA is released after October, all servers that where going towards ASA will go towards ASE"
Which means they'll reopen the servers for ASE, which would be a very awkward situation. And they'll need to actually buy servers for ASA when that comes out. (the Snail x Nitrado deal is basically allowing Nitrado to be the only server providers players can rent from for ASA, and with this deal Nitrado is giving ARK servers for their official network.)
I did say 'close' to a month before. Can't really argue with the other stuff though. Sounds like it's coming 31. october with a shitty forced release rather than another extension? š¦ I'm not one for blind optimism..
With this exclusive server hosting agreement does this mean that self hosted servers on personal computers won't be possible anymore?
No, I believe they stated that this deal wont effect people wanting to run clusters on their own devices.
It's basically just forcing players to go through Nitrado if they wanna 'rent' a server.
thats good then. if they stopped personal servers being run from your own devices i think this would kill the game before it began
although forcing players to use just 1 company is a bad choice as it means Nitrado can basicly charge whatever they want for rent these servers out.
Which is shitty still, as there's plenty of ways they could've done that deal to make it a win-win for everyone.
I.E. Nitrado picks and chooses who can also host, but forces them to be more expensive then Nitrado to make their own servers seem more appealing.
Yeeeerp
forcing someone to be more expensive is kinda price fixing which is a big no no lol.
it tells me that Nitrado don't have confidence in their own server hosting so to get sales they force an exclusivity
It tells me nitrado thinks ASA will be popular and wants to cash that check
you think it will be that popular?
Fair on that part.
They could though take a percentage out of any other provider they allow.
Snail and Wildcard are kind of betting on it.
ARK-2 isn't coming out until another year at the minimal, with possible delays.
ASA is their only major product until then, so it has to be enough to both keep them afloat, and give ARK-2 funding.
Closing down ASE official before launching asa official is a pretty confident move. Thereās an assumption Asa will at minimum be a semi-revival of current playerbase
never played official because i find vanilla ark to boring to play. Modded private servers all the way š
Personally can't see it being as successful as ASE as making it $60 from the off is very steep as your basicly having to trust that devs will hold up what they have said in regards to expansion releases. Now given that they have gone back on and pushed back so many things in the past its a big ask to have us put all that money up front
I exclusively play small coop PvE, so this nitrado deal would stink for me - if I played asa on launch, which is unlikely unless Iām blown away
Keep up to date.
It's 40$ now.
Also, most games are 60$ anyway, shit or not they get money back cause chumps eat it up
Skyrim Special Edition
Skyrim Anniversary Edition
Want me to list of all of the editions that made Bethesda money?
Skyrim special edition was free if you already owned the game
Economically idk if itās āchumpsā. Itās just people being willing to pay for something and someone else selling it
Yep, and Anniversry Edition wasn't, and it still sold.
Chumps to me sounds like someone got ripped off. See: loot boxes
True but no idea why people are still paying for that game XD
You're a chump if you pre-order a game that has shown no gameplay at all, and buying from a publisher/studio that is known to make shitty game.
I.E. Pre-ordering an EA game.
Chumps, that's why.
Honestly if they made the base game free if you already owned ASE and just charged for DLC i would be more enclined to re-buy DLC.
That's a bad idea.
People value risk differently - and do have grounds for suit/refund if no product is released
You do know games cost money to make, correct?
And the base-game of ARK is 60% of the games entire content.
well of course i understand they cost money to make. Just saying personally im more likely to pump more money into this game if i had some incentive.
The issue isn't if it doesn't get released. The issue is the promised game turns out to be dogshit. And people pre-ordered it cause 'cool cinematic trailers' instead of waiting for gameplay, which EA barely does any gameplay footage before launch of a title.
I think i'm personally gonna wait untill Ark 2 comes out and try that instead of ASA. As i said i don't play vanilla ark and much prefer modded content which won't be avaliable for some time i wouldn't have thought.
Thatās called a risk. People invest in speculation all the time
Good for you. But I don't think the same can be said to most of the community.
I believe most people would rather just buy a one-and-done product instead of having to go through a two-step phase.
And again, the base-game is a solid 60% of the entire games content post-DLC's.
And it's better that it's all in one bundle anyway, since everyone will be equally matched.
It's a dumb risk no one should bother taking.
Idk about that. People taking a lark on games via Kickstarter is how some amazing stuff got started
Not my style, but some people really care that much and should be able to invest as they please (assuming nobody is hard scammed)
Solid difference between a Kickstarter that has a clean slate of a reputation, versus blindly buying from a publisher that's known to release shit content.
Remove the word āshitā and you can see why itās bought. The reason folks do it is they believe the product will have a quality that suits them
The incentives are large for everyone else - cross platform mods, official servers, sotf, new engine, new balance etc. if I wasnāt largely done with ark 1 for a variety of reasons Iād probably have paid just for the new balance and engine
Again, dumb mentality.
I'm sorry, but after I fell for the clusterfuck that was Mass-Effect: Andromeda for my first ever pre-order, I'm never pre-ordering a game that isn't A: from a reliable studio. B: has shown actual gameplay of the product itself.
"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me"
Thatās fine and valid as a personal take
Should be a objective take.
No one should be fooled into something more then twice by the same thing.
After that, you're kind of asking for whatever bad game you just wasted money on.
Anyway, back to ARK-2
I more mean purchasing something speculatively
Which who knows? May be relevant for ark 2 and asa. Since asa may feel like a preorder for some people who anticipate DLCs to be of a certain quality
And I donāt THINK we know anything about ark 2
We know the two trailers are in-engine, so it's safe to assume that's 'roughly' what we're getting graphically.
But yeah, gameplay wise we have seen nothing.
Yep. Which is fine given the lack of available preorder
Which if they're still going for early-access when ARK-2 finally gets released, we wont get preorders.
Not gonna lie, pre-orders have been a bane in the gaming industry, personally.
They're suppose to 'help fund the developers while they're still developing' but most studios that do pre-orders are major Triple-A studios that already have the funding and know they'll make triple back the amount they spent on the game.
well next week they should have a steam page
Nope, next to the week after at max.
Actually, three weeks at max
Lets say it comes out on the 31st (last day of October) would have to release on the 17th at the latest.
So we'll get the steampage on the 17th or before.
i know but if they do that it will make ppl even more doubtful of the product, i will
I doubt itāll matter. As long as itās up comfortably before launch
well if youre pushing everything to the limited that dosent give much trust in your product right???
even more its a early access not a release of complete game
But thatās not the limit
Night before release is pushing itā¦but a couple weeks ahead is pretty standard for advance information
I dont get why some ppl think making games doesn't cost any money and are upset because ASA will have a price tag. I for one am super excited to see the "remake" and am willing to support the game developers by buying it.
Fox is upset because he doesnāt have full gameplay videos and streams to watch of ASA this weekend. Perhaps understandable because it would be a fun thing to do
Even if ASA was an identical game to the original one (with the bugs and all) but with UE5 graphics, I'm still going to buy it for sure.
(Which as I understand it will mostly be, but with minor updates and improvements)
these crunches should indicate what they plan to add or change for launch
They're making some huge changes to ark. Read CC355 and 356. They're also having to redo essentially every line of code, and making balance changes to a LOT of cave entrances.
The amount of work being put in makes it costing money make sense.
Will ASA work on the steam deck?
ASA should have a shop with some skins
change my mind
But actually could be fun, to have skins for weapons, structures, dinos, saddles in a shop, also could support Wildcard for further development
U mean, a shop with real money? Cause id agree, but How does that even work is the problem
imagine you could que your official character for a competitive form of sotf or something like mts arena with your level but maybe nothing on you, and you get some sort of little loot box for winning that you get when you spawn back on your server
Yeah a shop with real money, you buy it and then you permanently have it in your inventory
Would be linked to your account ID for example, the skin can't be dropped / shared
Asa is gonna end up like fortnite
ark gulag
all people who die on all servers in a cluster can be redirected to gulag for loot optionally
would be cool
To be honest, I don't mind if they add a shop with skins or even a ''Battlepass'' in which you play on official servers to gain points and then you unlock skins
Or even a loot box system, if it's only skins = who cares
I'm only okay with this if it goes towards also hiring and maintaining an ACTIVE Admin team, that can respond faster to reports of cheating, and also have that admin team joining servers at random and checking on players.
If not, then not down for paid skins (of which I'd advocated before, so long as they do the above).
That kind of monetization system is a slippery slope especially with a parent company like snail
For loot boxes i agree. paid skins in itself (knowing what you're getting) not so much
Well im saying that once you start with monetization systems that isnāt just buying a game, or the dlc which are basically just buying more game who knows what logic they could take to make the monetization as scummy as possible
You're just falling into the slippery slope fallacy.
And it doesn't make sense anyways. If you want them to support the game for years to come, while still having active admins, they need SOME sort of cash flow to support that team + support the servers.
Skin dlcs are the simpliest and easiest ways to support that.
Yeah, just look to their other games. They didnāt monetize them (they donāt even have DLCs) and they are pretty much dead.
The issue is when the game is pretty much focused on micro transactions
More levels? Buy gold. More weapons? Buy gold.
And, also, unnoficials already showed the best way to monetize Ark. In-game shop and commerce system.
Most unnoficials are kept with donations. And in exchange for the donations they give in-game money for the players to buy stuff from in-game shop
Yuck p2w
Not at all
You can win without paying, like most of the players do on unnos
Bro if youāre giving someone money and theyāre giving you in-game items thatās p2w
To me, pay to win is when we need to pay to get something. But the way unnos do, you can do everything without needing to resort to the in-game shop
If itās an option itās p2w
The definition is kinda loose, but this way it doesnāt hurt the game IMO
You can play clash of clans and wait 2 weeks for a building to upgrade. Or you can spend cash and do it instantly. Thatās p2w
I'd be alright with more skins in the game. We know ASA is going to have dedicated slots for skins so you can have a Glider Suit with a Skinned top. But more variety would be nice over the endless list of swimsuits and Hawaiian shirts
I liked to play on unnos that have shops
Don't even need that. Skins work too. Rust has shown this.
Especially when the community makes them. On rust the ones that get chosen, the creator gets a % of the skin sales. Which incentivizes getting creative with skins to get selected.
And Rust has an extremely active Official Moderator team. Some even join unofficial servers and ban players who are hardcore cheating (clearly not an admin using commands). It's a win for all if they do it.
so long as you can't buy actual weapons/dinos etc in the shop, and it's tied directly to skin sales only, there is no down side to it.
Sure, they just need to balance in a way it wonāt hurt the mechanics
Lol no it not pay to win. Just cause there a system that IF you donate we'll thank you for doing so with a few in game items does not make it pay to win.
Most of which that do those in game shop use berrybush seeds which are easy AF to gather for free anyways and the so called shop they put together is all personal preference on rather or not they have anything that someone likes or not.
Exactly. Even officials have that in a way. Just look on eBay and you will find lots of stuff to buy. But WC isnāt getting a penny from it.
You canāt whale your way around that
Iāve heard people complaining about new maps dlcs being p2w because they would make things too easy. And adding super op creatures to those new paid maps.
People will always complain
P2w is super easy. 1) is money being exchanged for something that markedly increases your progress/performance? If so, yes. P2w
A skin or cosmetics system where you pay for a given skin does neither - so itās not p2w
No it not. It something that anyone running a full cluster that smart would do especially if it a good cluster that people seem to like, help make sure it stays up.
Rainbow 6 finally toned it back so it not as bad, but that used to be a perfect example of pay to win where you got access to better weapons that someone just playing could never get.
It is literally the definition of p2w
idk how so many people don't realize this and just say skins are P2W because some can "help you blend in better!" lol
Idk man. Some people struggle with a lot of things. Youāve seen this chat
Somehow I knew unblocking him was a bad idea >_> Over this guy.
It doesnāt matter if the cluster is doing it to stay running. Buying progress is the definition of p2w
Correct. But skins ā progress
Who is it? I refuse to ever click show message on blocked people lol
Lmao. āThis guy disagrees with me. Blockedā
Ye. Iād take skins any day.
I usually do for a few months, then I'll check to see sometimes just to see if they have changed a bit. It Goo this time
Please keep me blocked next time. I prefer not to interact with children.
Nobody should be pitching progress or performance boosting anything for real money in any official ark game. I assume nobody here is doing that?
I used to, but then it always leads back to me remembering why I blocked them in the first place, so I'd rather not read something that makes me /want/ to respond. I'll keep my sanity lol
In that case pretty much all dlc maps are pay to win
DLCs add more content to the game. It's entirely different.
And that content makes things easier
Yep
Not always
I agree with Berserker, but to a degree youāre also right in that a DLC with transfers back to non-DLC maps creates a P2w scenario
This is more pay to win than anything in unofficial when you can't access them without buying the map lol
Like: elements on the island are gold, elements on genesis 2 is like sand
If transfers blocked new dlc creatures/things on old maps? Money no longer gives you performance or progression over another
Element was like sand since Extinction.
Im not saying itās p2w. Iām actually saying people can call anything p2w because the definition is kinda loose
I know, I agree with you.
The definition is not loose. Buying progress is p2w.
On extinction it was like wood, genesis 2 is on another level š
Itās also arguable that purchasing the DLC versus using the DLC is different and thus not P2W, but thatās real fuzzy. Buying genesis 2 doesnāt give element or a maewing. Playing it does. But idkā¦itās a thin argument
Buying a map that have exclusive items and creatures, and also have abundance of resources that on other maps are rare, p2w?
Itās a loose definition
What I despised most about Gen2 was the element free tek suit, it should of still required element and they just gave you one to wear.
That single handily killed the trade value of a bunch of dinos due to the fact a fresh spawn could tame anything basically by just hovering around it.
Only for a limited time though, and because of a stryder.
You get pure element as well as shards and dust from Ext, and iirc there's always 1-2 element nodes up on the map at any given time.
Gen 2 made element super cheap
The free tek suit was a glorified Hide set. My group made REAL tek suits and barely lost a fight because everyone was using the Fed suit lmao.
You do, but gen 2 space is on another level of grinding elements
True, at least it would still take something to make the suit run
Agreed, but it was also extremely contested. Ext was easier imo to get a foothold and take over compared to Gen 2.
Though I was on a super aggro server, had a lot of element, but also not, due to the constant remaking of things being dropped and the like.
Even if you needed, it would be like using fiber for that, because you can get lots of elements super easy
No. Thatās new content. Theyāre not giving you in game items because you bought the dlc. Theyāre giving you access to it.
I can imagine PvP it didn't effect much, PvE dinos were like clearance items at walmart in terms of value lol
Which is also not necessary. You donāt need extinction for a tribe mate to bring a mana back for you to breed.
Fair enough, I guess it depends on the server. I remember it was pretty disputed to do veins and drops on extinction too.
Im not saying itās p2w. Iām saying I know people that call it pay to win.
My point is we all have different definition for p2w
Is he still going on about the same topic o.o
I just want something that can pay their bills and also donāt spoil the game to me
We hammered most people who tried contesting our veins when it first dropped, and they quit coming. My friends on other servers (were playing on smalls) had similar findings. Though some of them were on the receiving end lol.
Helps when you have 2-3 of the titans on lock the entire time too. Makes it hard to contest lol.
New maps never spoiled the game to me. But Iāve also played on servers with shops and it was nice to play on those. With lots admins helping people
You mean did I answer the question I was asked? Yes. Yes I did.
If it helps to pay moderators to finish with glitchers/dupers/etc so be it
What Iāve been saying all along. Donāt have funds for admins? Official is gonna be another big fat mess
I enjoyed the orbital drops on extinction, except the lower tier just due to dilo always getting stuck somewhere dumb. Hopefully they solve that with ASA extinction
I stay away from unofficials. Some have extremely insane shops that ruin the game (imo), others are EXTREMELY sweaty, and others my group was kicked from because we were "too dominant" even though we only ever retaliated lol.
Unnos arenāt perfect either, but they have some interesting solutions to some of the issues we have on officials
Unofficials really would benefit from mods or structures that help them make their vision for ark PvP work without admin action people find dubious
But yeah, admin abuse is something common
I remember one Unofficial we raided a base, thinking nothing of it really, one of the characters from that tribe came over with an admin rifle and destroyed our entire base xD
They already do that. There are 100s of plugins and mods to help with moderation without needing to be there all the time
Rather deal with cheaters at that point, who I can SOMEWHAT defend against unless they're doing the invul glitch (which depending on which was being used had different methods of being stopped).
I wasn't ever a huge fan of the berrybush seeds, I preferred one server in particular I joined where there was no preset shop, owner just held weekly and bi-weekly auctions for the community and all exchanges there were to be in metal ingots.
Independent trades beyond that was between the parties involved. Ingots were the primary currency.
That really what I can't wait to get back to in terms of an RP style cluster in ASA and be able to have that cross play between Xbox, PS, and PC
Man, I have a feeling they will rethink crossplay eventually š
Like they did for SOTF
At least we will see servers dedicated for consoles
All games at this point should be cross play, there no excuse not to imo
I mean, itās easier to cheat on PCs
Most console gamers donāt like because of that
That becoming easier to monitor, and the newer consoles do have the ability to use mouse and keyboard now.
I mean file editing
Rockstar Games has found a way to put a handle on that. You can mod single player, but when you connect to online it does something where it completely reloads most of your files to the way RG intended them to be.
So it possible for companies to learn how to fix that issue.
Most mod menus that go undetected only last for so long, believe the longest one lasted less than year before it got shutdown online on gta
Im not so sure about that, because GTA Online is full of cheaters
At least it was when I checked
With discord being integrated to PS and Xbox now, yeah I think cross play has no excuse to not exist. Yes the ability to turn it off should be there which in a lot of games it is.
But yeah we should have cross play and individual should be able to go into settings and turn it off if they really want to.
I raise you MW2 COD lobbies back in the day, and I believe MW3 as well lol
If things are stored and computed on the client people will always find a way to cheat.
Internal cheating methods such as ini can be handled with some client side checks, external hacks need a better anticheat
how much longer until ark 2 comes out?
End of 2024
Alrighty Thanks !
"End of 2024" lol
The problem is that most of that ini settings shouldnāt have been computed at all but hardcoded into the code, especially if we are talking about a pvp game.
Let's hope that's how the INI for ASA and ark 2 will be handled. was one of my major complaints about PvP. You're forced into using INI because EVERY person was, and you're at a significant disadvantage if you aren't using it. Because while you're hiding in in the flora on your screen, all anyone else sees is you prone out in the open.
Yeah, My eyes still burn if I think about it. Anyway as today still wonder if ini was an engine limit(I find strange for a game engine to not have a way to select which graphics options you want to read from a plain text file) or was a tech lead choice to not invest time in that.
Ini isn't an engine limitation, it was a bit more of a lack of understanding of the engine
The engine has to use ini to interface the game with the hardware, but it shouldn't be user editable
You can modify memory, hardcoding wouldn't help. People would find a way.
People don't have hard INIs for Rust. The only thing allowing them to see things all over the map is 3rd party cheats, and those still usually don't effect things in regards to how INI can effect things in ark, so it's a lot easier to spot out a cheater on top of it.
You almost always can turn off cross play on console games and as a console game I would be fine playing with pc players even some of you seem to think console players are at a disadvantage, but we are not as most console gamers are used to using controller
K&M gives dramatically better "pin point" precision compared to console. Take that from someone who primarily played on console until I was 16-17. Generally can have more items on hotbar, as well as hotbar being easier to navigate.
I think crossplay is great so long as tribes integrate both and it doesn't become a "PC vs console" war.
Well I used to play on pc but know prefer console due to being able to switch through hot bar faster and other small advantages
You 100% can't switch through hotbar faster on console than just clicking a button on K&M lol.
What advantages are those?
No hate if that's your preferred mind you. We all have different preferences.
Yeah thatās my preference as I have small hands and itās easier to just hit triangle or square
But there us a issue with aiming it just generally feels a bit of when using guns compared to like battlefield or apex
The fact that you think ark console has any advantage to ark on k and m is funny. You know they had crossplay for tsotf, but removed it because console players didn't have a chance right?
I was not saying console has a advantage I was saying I prefer console
And there is a huge issue with aiming
I mean hopefully console tribes are thinking about that, because otherwise they are in trouble
Console isn't inherently at a disadvantage, but controller definitely is
Consoles these days have really good parts, better than most pcs, so hook in a k and m and you'll be competitive enough
If you have to use controller, either stay in base, or play pve
You just get used to a controller after and youāll be just as good with as k&m
Oh boy, you sparked the PC elitists for saying you like controller better, run!
On the point of crossplay though, what games have you been playing that allow you to opt out and don't punish you for it? I haven't been able to play any games that have crossplay with it off for the most part, it seems like it bottlenecks your connection or something whenever I do in the few games that have allowed it because I can't even connect to my friends on the same system most times
Battlefield, apex, Warface, Vigor
Those are just ones I remember off the top of my head
Almost every game with crossplay with give you a toggle and itās not bottlenecking your connection itās thereās less players
When I can't even connect to my friends that I play zombies with all the time with crossplay on, it's bottlenecking I'm pretty sure š
Never played any of those games that you mentioned besides Battlefield, so it checks out

I see you are also a Bad Batch enthusiast Classi

What is everyone planning on playing between ark1 shutdown and ark1.5 release? non-officials? or another game?
People are prob betting wheter it gets delayed or not
Delayed or not, theres 5 days left on officials, and no hard release date or method to order, so there will be some kind of gap, we just don't know how long. I tried the newest expedition of No Man's Sky and enjoyed it, but that gets boring after a while.
try diablo immortal
I'm pretty much just a PC gamer, but interesting.
o
Starfield haha
I will probaby try that at some point. Enjoying it?
Also Starfield.
Been enjoying it and taking things slow. avoiding guides and spoilers and just doing my own thing
looking for team
Ini is good and bad. I know people playing on potatoes that need edited ini files to get acceptable fps. But I also know people that use it to get visual advantages on pvp. Hopefully the new engine and settings can find the halfway solution.
Wrong channel for that lol
They had launch options for that, or you could custom lower the settings.
If your PC couldn't handle playing ark you were playing on something ancient that should have been upgraded far before Ark ever came out lol
Pretty much all visual mods we see on nexus are, in a way, editing the games core files
The issue is ark is a competitive game (pvp mode) so they need to have a control over it
Believe me, some people use real potatoes. Not even using those launch options like dx10 were enough
But yeah, I get it, those people shouldnāt be playing Ark then
Then they shouldn't be touching ark until upgraded lol.
But still, they saw the ini editing as the only way to play the game
I was rocking a 970 with a low end Devil's canyon CPU and was able to run near everything on the highest setting, some on high, and useless settings or one that took up A LOT to low/off, and I had good FPS.
Sure, I said it above. I just think they can find a way halfway through. Make Ark more cartoonish with less details without making things disappear like rocks, or water etc
What happened anyway, at one point it was removed, nowadays I see people using INI again
People found a work around to their INI "fix" quite fast.
I donāt remember it being blocked in all honesty
I myself personally hate the way Ark looks with edited ini files. But like berserker said itās a necessity when playing pvp
No. This creates the same issue Cyberpunk 2077 did. It's making a new game for old "gen" and then freaking out when the game can't run well because their hardware isn't up to the task. Obviously it shouldn't need the most LATEST GPU or CPU to run well, but people playing on ancient hardware shouldn't expect to be able to play the game.
Cyberpunk isnāt a good example. I would compare with battlegrounds or Fortnite
They had put in some roadblocks for INI and made it an actual bannable offense of any editing, but people worked around those roadblocks almost immediately. I forget which CC or update that was though
Competitive games
I see, thanks š®
Make it look like a cartoon but still no advantages to the player
It is a good example. Cyberpunk was literally held back because old gen didn't have the tech to do what the game was supposed to be capable of.
UE5 has MANY different things in it, that OLD GPU's literally can't make use of.
Bananos offense is just laughable because I remember streamers just streaming with ini files and nothing happened to them
Because it wasn't always bannable, until they made their rule change to it.
Cyberpunk was a mess and not a competitive game. Their sim was to make it look good, not really to have a good performance
I remember that, and people were trying to denounce the streamers but nothing happened
Fortnite is running on potatoes
It's not about being competitive. Your argument is for people who can't even have good FPS unless they use the INI file. I'm pointing out technical issues that will be present if you base your newer games on old and outdated hardware.
Fortnite games live in a vacuum, and doesn't have to constantly keep things up-to-date 24/7.
and if ark looked like fortnite I'd never touch it.
And Iām also pointing out that some competitive games can be scalable without letting people get advantages with lower settings
But to me itās fine either way
My pc will probably handle both games
Im just worried about the player base if itās really a heavy game
But as you said I agree to an extent, not always possible to make things scalable
That has nothing to do with the argument though? That's an entirely separate issue of people playing on such old hardware they can't play the game.
There's people playing on 2000s computers complaining they can't play ark with good FPS, and THEN there's people using it to gain an extremely unfair advantage if people aren't also using it.
No no. Im talking about newer system that cantle handle Ark.
PCs 5 years old canāt handle ark
Caves and boss arenas transitions as an example
Then they built or bought a terrible PC lmao
I mean, they are probably part of the 90% players with mid tier systems
Ark is demanding and kinda broken
Ini kinda alleviate this
The only change I made to my PC before my current one was upgrading my 970 to a 1070 (or maybe it was a 1080, idr), and I literally had no issues after that unless it was server side.
Not ideal of course
and that was at max settings.
Man, I had issues with a 5950x + 3090
Now itās kinda better with 7800x3d + 4090
I have a 3080 and had no issues either, unless it was server side again.
And itās not like thereās inst enought hardware. Usage is like 20% but the performance will still be sh*t
SSD or HDD?
Ssd, nvme. Itās not really that
Ark is pretty much cpu bound
I really hope asa and Ark 2 have frame generation techniques
SSD effects load times. I would always make it in to bossfights before my friends on HDD.
My issues were inside huge bases with lots of Dinos inside
That was a server side issue, not user.
I mean the user could alleviate it to some extent, but it wasn't solely on them for that.
Yeah, I remember in 2016 when my friends were intrigued I would get disconnect but would come back online super fast. Just because I had an ssd and they had hdds
In 2023 most gamers already have ssds, Sata or nvme. But the other bottlenecks are still there, main one being cpu bottleneck
My friends would die to the dragon on island because they were still loading in while anyone with an SSD was running away already lol
Ark canāt use all the cores/threads
Yeah, sad. Now itās better for sure. But asa and Ark 2 need to find ways to alleviate on the cpu
If my low end Devil's canyon could handle it, then those people were on some extremely bad hardware like I said though. I wasn't getting INSANE frame rates, but I'd constantly be between 60-80.
Frame generation is a good way IMO
and when I finally upgraded to a 10 series that skyrocketed to well above 100
kkept the same cpu
Thing is, your devils canyon is pretty much the same thing as my 7800x3d
Just because Ark doesnāt take advantage of the new architectures
The i5 version?
Doesnāt matter, Ark doesnāt use new cpu architectures as it should
You know those green letters for the names of the creatures?
Even those would make my 5950x struggle to go above 30fps
I would just tap the backspaces, when the names were gonna the game would go above 60 fps easily
Itās just something wrong with the code i donāt know
That's a known issue for everyone.
But Iām hopeful ue5 fixed those
It would have to be the code that fixes it i think, not UE5 itself.
Hopefully
But my point was, ini editing would help a lot š
But there are all the bad outcomes for pvp
will i7 13700k and rtx 4080 be enough to play ark 2 at 1440p?
No one knows. They have not released any info. I am going to say yes because if done on unreal engine. It should be properly optimized
Ok thanks, I've built that pc not long ago and would hate to upgrade it again
This is the correct answer.
That said, you'll probably be ok. That seems relatively new, and unless they take many more years than they are currently forecasting, that would still be a recently released set of system specs, so in all likelihood you'll be fine
Itās a tricky question because Ark is a very complex games. ASE will have scenarios where performance isnāt an issue (a current high end system can run Ark @ ~300 fps over the ocean). But there are other scenarios your system will struggle (inside big bases with 100s of creatures on sight the same high system can go below the 60fps or even deeper).
I think they need to think ways to offload the mainthread (a.k.a reduce cpu bottleneck). Any mid tier GPU can run ASE just fine. But on scenarios with heavy processing loads, all CPUs will struggle to cope with Ark, because it isnāt ready to use new architectures and multi thread as intended.
New techs I would like to see on the new ark games: frame generation and 3d cache. Both techs have granted huge performance boosts on games similars to ark
š¤®
Ark 2 is releasing in December (i made that up and its not true)
maybe next december seeing as it's current target is late/end of 2024
I think Wc has an whiteboard in their office and everytime someone predicts a release date, Dollie adds a week to their internal release day prediction.
This is the real reason they had to postpone from 2022 to 2024. /s
whens ASA releasing
End of October
i hope for asa they have less servers
cause ase has like way to many servers with 0 pop
that are just wasted
also i hope they allow play counters ove r80 lol
really?
Yep
damn ok
Lol
Considering they specified the End of October 2023, that was answered.
Snail Games has just launched the ARKade Ambassador Program in collaboration with Noiz and Studio Wildcard.
Pre-registration begins now. It offers early access to #ark-survival-ascendedSurvivalAscended for influencers, who can also earn rewards through specific activities.
Is this real news?
Yes
Snail Games retweeted it.
It will boost hype of course, but will not provide any real insight to the major glitches or balance issues that will likely be found in the game
When ark1.5 will be launched
October
Do you have a specific time
If I did I would have given it to you friend
hahah
All we know is the end of October
I think it will be speculated to release. It's the Ark's way of doing things lol
Do we know if ark ASA will be crossplay between Xbox and steam on official ?
Also will a Xbox 1s even be able to run it?
- yes there will be crossplay, wether all official servers will have it we don't know, or if we do idrk
- No old gen consoles, ASA will only be PC and next gen conoles (PS5/XBOX series X/S) only
It sounds like the intent of the game is to be entirely cross compatible. This means mods, players, should all play well with each other no matter what platform they play on.
Wild that we're more or less a month away and we've seen nothing xD
Iām getting nervous about how little there is
nervous about something you havent paid for yet? you should be nervous when you gonna paid
Money isint really a factor. I already gotta buy 3 new Xboxes lol. Just want to be able to play with friends
then why youre nervous š¤£
dont buy at launch and watch couple streamers, clips then make the call
nervous about the lack of information doesnt have to refer to money
"dont buy at launch and watch couple streamers, clips then make the call" what else? another delay? aint happening
im persoinally buying at lauch with exxtremely low expectations. i just dont care and want it
good for you
Not everyone hard up for $40 and will just slapped those two $20 bills through the online store and continue to enjoy ASA the same way ASE has been enjoyed.
same, My main goal is to hop on an official pve server, run to my spor and place like 40 foundations randomly so i can block off a big area
imagine if they fixed foundation spam
For pve?
take all structures you own, average out thecenter position based on individual structure locations, and increase decay rate for structures further away from center
have the decay rate per radius increase for more structures
Cause for pvp
Structure spam is usually fine and fair game
yeah cause youcan outrigjt destroy thwm
Not sure how they would even do that, foundations already required 2 connected or a foundation with a pillar in the middle.
Only way possible would be to increase it to a minimum size you would expect a small base to be.
connections dont need to be considered
And even then
each structure probably is counted individually even if connected, but connections complicate things like structure demolition
idk how they did that
Technically there IS a Structure radius limit
But it's super high often not an issue
but my thing doesnt care about connections
it does take into account structure density but it would fuck over teleporters
so any teleporters that belong to a tribe with a very big base would decay rapidly
since the big base would increase.structure count and thus decay rate for structures far away from the center
Would say no way ever an issue. I've had a gigantic area on Rag before from the highland cave that followed out and took an massive area almost tot the beach in open area to the point couldn't render my entire base from end to end
that could be a bad thing if rates arent changed and tps are still necessary for farming
on pvp this would fuck over teles but there teles are even more important
Yh it's rarely an issue
Only if ur building vertically up with dense Structures
Or if u ever use pipes/Cables
do large multilevel cave bases not face this issue?
cause theres some deep caverns
like doesnt fjordur have a huge cave that just goes downwards
idk if people build there
My tribe did that on ark mobile
There were SO MANY traps
It was an event and we just kept making more traps
Then weād move them all to the attacked location from the safe locations
On the last castle there were easily 300+ traps both large and bear

Don't be, they historically almost never share anything until they're extremely close to release, unless it's like ExtraLife or some other special occasion
With WCās record, Iām afraid people would lose their bases for no reason if they implemented something like that
Some unnos have plugins that take care of the decay times, itās common they just fail and demolish Radom bases
I still think the best option would be to implement a claim system
Tool cupboards or some similar mechanic (perhaps amount placeable dependent on number of players in tribe, idk) is definitely the way to go in that regard imo
yet theres a good chance nothing have change yet or in the future
Thereās. We are just making wishlists.
We know they are changing some mechanics, but we donāt know which ones and how.
Every item 99 cent and up or lower
Maybe when they release that Q&A It will be more clear
will see in the next couple cc, i do have things i wanted to clear up to make my decision cause if is all to remain the same as ase it just dosent much sense on buying it again
Im pretty sure some changes will be made, so it wonāt be the same as ASE
We just know what is changing and how
I'm confused, If Ark 2 was about to be released, why wasting time in making a remastered version of ARK, so called ASA?
Unless, of course ARK 2 is nowhere near completion
Because Ark 2 wasnāt about to release
Comon, it supposed to be release 2023
Also, they realized not everyone would be willing to move to ark 2 because it is too different, and decided updating ASEās engine to UE5 would worth it, then they decided to do the remake
No, itās supposed to release in the end of 2024
If ark is already like 200 gb whatās ASA gonna be
Better
1t and just for the island
Probably going to be low but as they start adding, it will be more than 200 for sure
id be down for this
when a struc decays itll have a claim timer thats some multiple of decay timer
when could we expect like a trailer for ASA?
None of us truly have any idea
They haven't pushed their october release date yet, despite no way to preorder, no trailers, and no real information.
ooof
but don't suggest it will be delayed. people get angry
fair
I'm almost 100% convinced it'll be delayed. If it's not i'll be shocked tbh. I expect dec or later if that's the case.
I'd love to be proven wrong, though.
You and many others cite the lack of a trailer and a pre-order as if it's a thing that matters, when the game will be released in early access (hence no pre-orders, as that'd be dumb) and history shows that they don't put out trailers until very shortly beforehand, like, why do so many people think this way? What youtuber told people that these are signs to watch out for lol
Have we heard if ASA will have Rhynios enabled on release ?
probs since he on the island
It'll have The Island at release, so presumably yes as they spawn there
Okey doke. Definitely no delays will be released on time!
Now let's see Paul Allen's strawman
I heard on some random video I watched on the subject of ASA saying that they will shutdown all the servers of Ark Evolved. Is this true? If so, where can I go to read more about it?
They are shutting down official servers at the end of September
Read the community crunch newsletters
Alright, official meaning all the other types like unofficial and things like that will still be up?
Yes
Correct, only unofficial server owners decision to keep up their cluster or if they decide to move to ASA.
Alright, just wondering. I dont really get much into this Ark related things
Doesnt it launch with island and se?
My main question is will ASA be worth it? I'll be trying to read more into though
Just Island now, Scorched is later this year
No, Scorched Earth and Transfers are set to be released in December.
Here what we know so far:
ASA
ARK: Survival Ascended will now be a standalone package released on every platform (PC Windows/Steam, Xbox Series S/X, and PlayStation 5) at $39.99.
(At least one exclusive ASA map confirmed by Wildcard that will be a paid DLC)
The package will include the following pieces of content built-in (not sold separately), with each remastered and altered for the next-generation on Unreal Engine 5: w/Cross Play and Cross Platform Modding
The Island (Released at Launch at the end __October 2023__)
Survival of the Fittest: The Island
Scorched Earth & Transfers (Release in December)
Ragnarok & Aberration (Released by Q1 2024)
Extinction, Genesis Part 1, Genesis Part 2, and all the community-created maps are also to be released over time in 2024 (Fjordur, Ragnarok, The Center, Lost Island, Valguero, Crystal Isles)
sick
So when ASA comes out are we gonna be able to transfer from each island map or can you only keep your character on one map
@grim kestrel
@dapper narwhal
Transfers wont be a thing till Scorched comes out.
We do.
Transfers wont be a mechanic until Scorched.
That's not what it sounded like they asked.
@stray elm thatās the dumbest thing ever šš so big tribes are gonna own one map and itās only gonna be that tribe on the map
They asked if they can transfer, and the answer is 'we wont on day-one'
Nvm
So stupid we gonna have to wait months to transfer to other maps, we just gonna be stuck on a single island map with our one big tribe
An easily solution would probably be to play unofficial or single-player until then.
Also, it's due to the fact how transfers are going to work in ASA is different. And they need more time to code the new system.
Too tired and misread.
So will ark offical 1x servers be Xbox and ps4 and small tribes will be cross plau with Xbox and pc and ps4?
How will the cross play work
ASA isn't coming to last-gen consoles
I know I know
It'd be PS5.
But I mean am I gonna have to compete with pc kids on offical 1x if Iām an Xbox player
And yeah, ASA is going to be full cross platform, which is probably what they mean as in 'needing to rework how transfers work'
Since you may be able to transfer your Steam character to your Xbox, since it'll be full cross platform.
Great so now the skill gap will be insane lmaooo
Skill issue
Xbox players vs 1000$ pcs not to mention the cheating problem
They did say cross-platform progression.
Xbox mnk is nothing compared to somebody playing on a 1000$ pc with access to modded inis, cheats, better graphics
Also, most active PC gamers don't have 1,000$ USD computers.
Most people pay like 600$ USD for a high-end gaming PC.
But the ones that do will have a major competive advantage
Not like I can buy a super Xbox
Like, not really.
What's a 1,000$ computer going to outclass versus a 600$ other then having overkill specs that wont be outdated in a decade?
Being on a console and playing against people using pcs is a total different game when it comes to PvP, and your still cutting out the part where they have access to cheats and modded inis
What happened when they allowed pc players to play with Xbox players on ark 1 small tribes
You do know that there's people who use cheat softwares on consoles, right?
And how is this any different then the current Xbox x Window's 10 crossplay for ASE?
There's also plenty of games with full crossplay that have equal playing fields.
Thereās no aim botters and espers that play console ark it just isnāt like that Iāve played for 5 years of PvP, pc players ruined ark 1 especially small tribes
Ark isnāt one of those games lmao
We don't know is ASA wont.
ASE certainly isn't, but we have no idea what's in store for ASA.
Steam can only crossplay with Epic-Games
Playstation ASE is by itself
Ok well that cuts out the nasa computers
So will ps guys be allowed to play offical cross play?
On ASA, yes. It'll be 'full' cross platform
Oh I read it wrong sorru
I also rechecked the CC with ASA, and it'll have "Cross-platform Anti-Cheat"
Yeah we will see how long that last lmao
Basically, if your platform has ASA, it can play with other platforms.
Ps5, Xbox Series X-S, Window's 10, Steam, and Epic-Games (if it releases on it) will all be cross compatible with each other
Sucks lmao they should just keep Xbox and ps cross play for 1x and then have small tribes compatible with all
Don't play official.
Easy fix
Yo when's this coming out damn
Without evidence, you are the liar. Show proof of words? plz
The Island (Released at Launch)
Survival of the Fittest: The Island & Scorched Earth map variants (Released at Launch)
Scorched Earth (Released at Launch)
Aberration (Released by Q4 2023)
https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/685583-community-crunch-356-ark-roadmap-update-rhyniognatha-concept-and-more/
He's lying about what?
Scorched & transfer
What about them?
in the official news they wrote that the scorch will come out with the start. But he writes that later, in dec. Either he has information that he misunderstood, or something else.
Oh no, that's correct. It's in a later on crunch that you posted.
Let me see if I can find it.
scorch and transfer are an important thing for many
Scorched is subjective, as there's more popular maps. But transfers I do see.
But they do explain their reasonings, I just need to find the CC.
Scorched are golems. and golems are a very strong soaker at the beginning
They're rebalancing some parts of the game. So we don't even know if stuff like that is going to matter anymore.
" Weāve also decided to separate the release date of The Island and Scorched Earth. With what weāve learned about remastering The Island from the ground-up, it wouldnāt be feasible to complete Scorched Earth to a standard weāre happy with. So for now, weāre going to plan that Scorched Earth will be coming to ASA in December this year, Ragnarok and Aberration will follow in Q1 2024, and the rest of the maps beyond then. "
I believe the whole transfers thing was stated by a dev on Discord.
The reasoning of no transfers day-one is due to them reworking it completely.
With ASA being full crossplatform on all platforms it'll be released on, they need to rework how that's going to work.
Now apologize for calling AA a liar š
Bro I donāt even like AA and I think you owe him an apology
600$ ha š would love to know that storage
With the official servers closing I thinks wildcard must release some news in the next crunch if they don't want some official player to lose interest in the licence
You would think that but i doubt we will get any news till October

600$ would be spent on the gpu and cpu alone on a mid-high end pc, not even a high end
not sure if 600 can be for both maybe needs a little more
probably
my 3090 suprim in the time i bought was 2k alone š¤£
Me with a $500 cpu
"Alright I have $100 left for my gpu"
If you bought a mid end cpu for $500 you got scammed lol
But yeah even 600 would be a tight budget
Lol definitely not mid. i9-11900k
Guys stop arguing about pcs šš the point is itās an unfair advantage towards xbobs
Nah, you gotta spend huge dollars to beat a series x
Plus the games are gonna be better optimized for console
Only thing tipping for pc's is peripherals and cheats
Cheats, modded inis, better graphics, access to mods such as Mts arena
Like I said, better graphics only come if you spend WAY more than you would to buy a series x
its true consoles mixing whit pc is bad no matter what
Thank you g thatās all Iām tryn to say
Plus we don't know what they're gonna do to mitigate the advantage.
Ask any good pc player at PvP who has the advantage they will tell you
aim assist?
they wonāt do anything with that aspect
HELL NO aim assist LOL
that would be terrible to Add
It's always been a point of contention in crossplay
anyway consoles will always be getting the short end in a mix up
Ark ascended official 1x should just be ps5 and Xbox players
They can do all cross play for small tribes
but i can see to why the crossplay, crossplay=less servers for all platforms

insted of having 300 servers for island for pc another 300 for xbox and 300 for ps they just put 500 for all. PS: its just a example
console still has meshing right
meshing seems to be the most common exploit that actually wipes people
Everyone has meshing
but by doing that it will means more fierce pvp for spots and a mess for pve
aimbot is pretty bad but i dont usually hear that as the biggest complaint
likewise for esp
Ark 1s small tribes are totally ruined by cheats and pc players
was ark pc totally ruined since launch?
well guess its time for console player to buy a good pc to play ark and use cheats š¤£
no f that cheaters never win
ho but they do, being prove by snail games that cheating and having a dev in your pocket you can definitely win š¤£
if pc players all kept playing despite cheats until this year i cant imagine its impossible for console to do the same
š¤·
unless youre saying the only counter is cheating
Bro what are you even talking about like put a cork in it g
no response otherwise š¤·
They didn't though
for yhe most part they didnt start quitting until a few years ago
Most people quit earlier this year
yeah
Smalls looks like Asia servers now due to duping and hacks
pc has always had cheats since launch
True
But over time it's just gotten worse
Way back then
It wasn't nearly as bad
do you mean worse this year or worse over multiple years
Both?
sure ok
so its been getting steadily worse since launch?
since 2020?
whats the timeline
and why didnt it kill steam populations quicker
Almost any player who's touched official pvp for awhile will attest to this being the case
weird
Latest I can remember was Extinction dlc released
Broke a number of things for pvp on release
thats been true of a lotta dlc tho no?
Far as I can tell
Yh mostly true
Every dlc seems to be broken š
Idk about scorched earth dlc
WC enforcement has just got shitter and shitter over the years and as a result the cheaters have got much more blatant. The cheats have also got MUCH more advanced as time goes by
There was a time when you could literally spoof someone's steam acc and log in as them
I thought that was only epic games accounts
I do recall hearing about that with them, I haven't heard of it happening with steam.
Got a 1Tb m.2 SSD for 80$
GPU I got is a 3060 that's 300$, and I got my CPU for 200$.
This pc can run ARK on epic with 60 frames per second.
i remember on gen 2 looking far while have my big ass base fully loaded i had 70 ro 80 fps whit all set on max but yet doing alpha rockwell gen 2 it lower to 50 fps but thats old ASE, whit ue5 things should change drastic on hardware
plus you forgot ram
Ram is fucking cheap.
not really, depending on what you going for plus motherboard and power and case, its lot for a high end, 600 you can barelly make a good mid tier thats not limited to upgrad if need it
If you know how to budget and the right websites/manufacturers. You can make a high-end gaming pc for 600$.
It of course wont be top of the line. But it doesn't need to be. It just needs to run games on high to epic graphics with solid frames.
sorry but i cant see how a high end pc can fit on a 600$ budge its just not possible, tell me do you think a gpu 3k series is a high end?
Yeah, kind of. When Nvidia is just rehashing the same hardware that they used to make the 3k series for the 4k series.
well i kinda expect you coming whit the EU5.3 thats going to give all gpu whit dlss but even whit that a 3k series is already old news high end its 4k series thats how the hardware world works, my 3090 should be equivalate to a 4080 even though as 24g vram
I should note that my 3060 was also on sale.
a 3060/3070 back their time was a mid end pc, 3080/3090 high end pc gpu
if it runs ark at 60 fps in basically all conditions its high enough for me
I'd argue that if I'm getting a steady 60fps for games like Cyberpunk on the highest graphics, that'd be considered 'high end'
only game ive seen that i couldnt run was star citizen
nonetheless its because of all the tek advancing so fast and we ppl always looking for better performance and quality that makes pc hardware absulete very fast and ence why consoles and for most a better solution for price/time to next gen console
It's also an off brand version of a 3060, so it could be modified.
and im on a 1660ti
star citizien moment ā¢ļø
60 fps cant be said a high end pc not even close
ik ppl with 3060s in their laptops š
let me check real quick mine
in this case also im at half ram capacity because my prebuilt only came with 1 ram card installed š©
so like i seriously doubt youll need som xx80 or xx90 for asa
Personally, I don't care what specs you may have. If you can run a next-gen game with steady 60 fps on the highest graphics, then that's high end to me.
you dont need 120 unless youre doing competitive gaming
and mainly for twitch shooters
even if sotf becomes an esport i doubt itll need 120
imagine that tho
I concede, it's actually 800$ in total for everything with my pc.
Though, I still stand by that you don't need a 1,000$ USD computer to have a good pc.
cyberpunk on ray tracing ultra mine is running on 60 fps at 4k
One thing I hope that Ark II, and if we're lucky enough, ASA, does is rig the player characters to the base UE5 mannequins. Lots of really good animation packs that modders could use in their projects.
most off the horsepower is in graphics cards these days, as long as you have 4+ cores and at least over 3ghz on each, 3200 ram is sufficient too and an SSD, the only limitation will the cores on cpu and the graphics card
not forgetting a decent name brand motherboard as these can be night and day for stability if you plan to fine tune the cpu
I mean, I can respect your opinion that a GPU that can run @60 fps is enough for you, but itās not really the case to change the term to fit what you think. High end is high end, the top tier.
People that buy high donāt want to run games @60 fps at fullhd. They are aiming 4k and higher fps.
ye those guys want 4k at 120+ fps or they aint happy š
I donāt see a problem in that. If they have the money, why not. Lol
especially for high mhz monitors as they run better when the fps matches the mhz
i didnt say its a problem, i was merely pointing out the standards they expect
i have to have low standards as my 980ti is getting dated now š¦
But my point is, the tiers of the gpus and CPUs are the terms accepted in the industry as is. You canāt say: āwell, that 4060 is enough for me, I will call it high endā š
but it runs on wc and never goes above 44c so shes in it for the long haul
allthese taxes going up isnt helping me get a new card
Im talking with people above wanting to change the meaning of high end and arguing you can buy a high end pc for 600 usd
600 usd wonāt pay for a high end GPU
it will pay for a mediocre one that will run games but at 30fps if you lucky
i mean your bugdet isnt too good for the card at that price, 150-250 if you can find super good deals on the others, but then going second hand could get you a 2060s at least
Thatās a nice GPU. Im not saying people should buy the best and the newest, just pointing out we need to call them accordingly
she does ok, struggles a bit in unoptimized games
my 980 at least has scaling options, this doesnt
But my point is, a 2060 is, right now, a low end GPU you know what I mean?
It will be enough for 99% of the people
i wouldnt turn my nose up at that haha
But we canāt call mid end or high end just because it is a good GPU
Itās a good GPU, Iām not arguing about that, but it is now a low end GPU
It depends on what you want
People wanting ray tracing would need 3000 and 4000 cards
Thatās what will probably be the case for ASA
If it has ray tracing, you will need a 3060 or 4060 at least
I bet you will be fine
when i first played ark, it was on a 460, i was getting 20-30 fps haha
I remember the first days
The best GPU back then were the 780 ti
And even the owners of those couldnāt run above 40 fps
it was fairly well optimized towards the end, my igpu was getting 10-20 fps on ny old 3570k
or a model around there i forget exactly
the only thingg that killed me for ark was the SERVER saves lol
that shit got boring fast
Yeah, the performance improved a lot, also the visuals
You mean the updates?
so ark without them saves will be so blissfull for me
The saves were actually fast, but everytime they had to update the servers, it would take hours
the offcial servers, every 15 mins while the server saves, you cant do shit for 30 secs
sometimes i got desynced so bad when swimming
Yeah, rubberbanding and lag
Even opening a door is hard
patience level 100
The network side of the game is something I hope got revamped for ASA
loading lag i could kinda handle, unless im taming stryders
and clipping into dino'
The most annoying network annoyance to me was the gen 1 ocean
sometimes i would get mesh death messages for that
I would get disconnect in the middle of a mission
i didnt stay in gen 1 too long, i could never find a splot to build
but ye gen servers crashing was a bit much
server just cant handle all them timers for gacha crystals
and babies
Gen 1 isnāt really a map to have a base
i mained on the infamous rag as it has almost everything
IMO rag was the best until gen 2
stayed too long on the island and scorched, looking forward to asa gen release
Gen 2 broke the game in all the ways š
gen 2 was a literal game changer, good and bad
but so it should be good, its end game
And for the same reason
Good: tek is cheap
Bad: tek is cheap
i dont think people should be able to just hop on gen though, gotta kill the boss previously imo
work hard and be rewarded
I think they canāt do that because Ark is basically an mmo
i know, just being able to join gen2 is like skipping half off ark
If they needed to lock all new characters outside of specific maps, would be a bit annoying
Yeah, but the lore isnāt the most important part of ark
At least not for most of the players
its not for me š
Itās kinda hard to make people follow the history
but i do think there should be a process to gain access to lush end game loots
I did because I was playing ark since day one
But someone starting Ark right now might not want to follow the lore
i mean just join gen 2, do a few drop farms and if you lucky, your full tek
I donāt, but I think they should at least make people know what order they should follow to know more about the lore
I mean, there are some unno pvp servers that get wiped every two months
i just look at ways to keep players in game longer, guys join, they rush to do everything, get bored and quit
i actually never did all the bosses in ark and i got 20k hours
It would be a bit annoying to need to start on island, then scorched, then aberration, extinction and so on
Really? š
when i like a game, i always leave something to do, cos then i get bored as i done everything
its how we work
I have like 15k (taking into account my two steam accs), I have all the bosses
Breeding does that
But most of this time was grinding or breeding
Thatās not something I would to repeat on ASA
I want to something more interesting
90% of the time you are afk
The rest is getting food and stuff to imprint
not when i breed haha, i get everything out, i used to have over 300 babies going a time, your never bored
especially when you get mutations and colours you like
then i might do a boss in between to help the newbies
all memories now
they will change a fair bit for asa, depending on the engine
Itās funny for the first breeding line. But then it gets boring. I mean, I just want that breeding and grinding isnāt our main activities on ASA
But Iām afraid thatās something that wonāt change much
each to there own :p
Instead of breeding, I think training the adult creature would be more fun. A new mechanic I mean.
But you really think itās funny to breed on Ark after eight years and 20k hours of doing that?
i wasnt purely breeding but that was a good pass time, rest off the time i was helping newbros, showing them the caves, teaching them ark etc
as thats what i like to do hehe
pvp guys like killing everyone, i like to help people š
i was so different in my younger years, i wouldnt play a game if it didnt do pvp
i heard there wasnt really much pve in ark 2, so will see
There's no ark2 to know anything aboutyet
did same thing, while babies growing i when due my grind, boss battles to help others getting engram, teaching my way of doing things and the rest of time complaining about ppl leaving half traps and spikes everywhere š¤£
the ark 2 steam page suggests more pve oriented features like enemy pve npc's (orc people), world events, sensory-based creature ai, character progression and a skill system, component based item crafting and more stuff that won't be just mainly pvp focused like Ark 1 as far as we know atm
if playing ark 2 solo becomes fun then the game will be a success
that and mods
wonder what new mods we will get in the first year
S+2 š
Where is the world did you hear that?
Yeah, usually the YouTuber rumor is Ark2 is only PvE š¤
I hope it will be. Better AI, more complex pve forces (Aratai) and lots of events (global events). Also it might more missions after their experience with genesis.
Whatever you heard about Ark 2 is probably a rumor. Ark 2 is pretty much a concept as of now. They never showed anything relevant about Ark 2. We donāt have a clue about Ark 2.
Ark 2 is nothing like you want it be
Ark 2 is nothing like you need it to be
Everything above is correct
everything above is incorrect
the excluded middle has appeared
But seriously, nothing about Ark 2 is a sure thing
Maybe, and I would say maybe, it will be 3rd person only for sure
But everything else are generic statements
āBetter AIā - How so?
since everyone is gonna forget about what they heard here once asa releases you can just imagine ark2 is gonna be perfect to be happy and then get distracted by asa
āMostly primitiveā - what? What aspects? Future updates will bring more tek stuff? How so?
And so on
Even ASA, a remake, is also basically a bunch of generic statements š
āWill cryopods be a thing day one?ā Stay tuned for our Q&A soon ā¢ļø
they gotta see ark without cryopods again
For sure, Iām a little hyped I would say
I would be fine with it to be honest
I would actually ban cryopods for good
thats what a lotta people want
I guess we will hear more about in the next week CC
ive yet to see more than 1 in 10 people not want cryopods replaced with a structure that stores dinos
hopefully a video next week or in 2 weeks
Yeah
ya
Itās a no brainer
Cryos are like an official and acceptable glitch
I mean, it was possible to bring gigas to bosses because of them
Quetzals to bosses
And on pvp you can use them to easily raid bases that otherwise would be impossible to be raided
Only thing cryos served as a QOL improvement was to pause breeding
But a machine/structure would replace that easily and better
but it doesnt need to be something you bring in a kit
Yeah, this
There are so many issues with them thatās impossible to remember all
Like transfer timers
Once I went to a server to raid a base
But you just canāt donwload a creature and then upload it back to the cloud
now you can :p
Thereās a timer, so I had to hide my quetzal for hours until I could transfer it back
Now you just put on cryo
i think they would need to make hiding more effective tho
and idk how theyd fix that
cryos also made it impossible to enforce "no line breeding sharing*" on smalls š®
I also remember there are several glitches to reset breeding timers
Yeah, that too
depends on how the structure works tho
Several issues
sky quetzals are always gonna be useful
like the only way to play on and off witjout tribe tbh
but that needs a bunch of dead servers too
if they could male cryo storage building able to be placed off foundation, without power, then you could again play without being on 24/7
Just don't do that. It's easy. A breeding machine should be limited to work on a place with power available.
im not talking breeding tho
I wouldn't limit it to a tek generator because I think even bobs should have access to a breeding machine
but I would limit advanced tools to a tek generator
But I am LOL
The current breeding meta is bad
1000s of female gigas aligned in a cave is cancer
I don't think a machine to breed and grow babies would unbalance the game
sure i dont think itd make it any faster for people to reach level cap
but i would remove imprinting
just more people do
at least the way it is now. Make imprinting a think you do after the creature is fully grown
honestly id rather the opposite with a fixed/reduced mutation cap but imprinting stays
sure idrc when imprinting happens
I mean, imprinting atomatically in the machine, I think wouldnt make sense
imprint wild dinos even
its not like breeding is fun enough to matter
taming wilds at least is more gambling like
that's why I think machine + imprinting after fully grown would make more sense to me
yeah, now we will be able to tame babies
being a bob on a new server looking for a 150 pt š©
I hope this means breeding is being fully rethought
that parts really interesting to me
does it only mention babies or also juvies
cause imagine only needing 1 milk to raise a wyvern
tho now they can breed
but still
It would make sense to be able to tame both
babies, juvies, adolescents and adults
and make it more interesting, making it different to tame a baby or an adult
I don't know
so many possibilities, I just hope they surprise me positively
I'm not sure
cause thats the most analogous system to what we are promised if so
But that's something possible for ark
there are at least 2 mods I played that have that
babies, juvies etc all wild and tamable
if modders are able to do that, wc also can
id be fine with like, wild dinos at older ages get reduced imprint potential
this seems likely at least
and this is not considering previous ideas around imprint
Would be nice to randomize stuff
like one day you are flying around the map and you see a rex with really high melee because there's an world event running
I don't know if they are bringing migrations to ASA
but would be nice to see things more randomized
sure yeah greater stat variation could be cool but theres gonna be problems with the only dinos you find having a high chance of beinf useless
like you find 20 rexes, 5 are 140+, and of those 5 only 1 has hp or melee
sure the same issue occurred before
but before it was like a 5-10 point thing
now it could be a 60 point thing
if they reduced the likelihood of garbage stat allocation id be cool tho
either its an even spread or its minmaxed into something useful
you dont get minmaxed rex with capped weight
do you think they'll make breeding easier in ASA?
gotta wait to see
how frequently are maps releasing do we know yet
Varies, but seems like every 2-3 months.
Scorched isn't coming out till December.
Aberration isn't till now Q1 2024, with the rest of the dlc's possibly being pushed back due to the initial delay.
Fuckin delays as always
you realise they are making a remake in months not years right?
@tropic forge months? U mean a month?
No he means months
I'm not dumb but it was alr delayed multiple times and I have to buy It now so yay
when can we buy it?
Idk tbh
Damn, I'm hoping it comes out Oct
I thought It did
no months, ASA is being in the work for like 6 months now
When it comes out
only 1 time as being delay, now ark 2 thats another story
It was delayed twice bud
When?
The original release date was in August.
Then it got delayed to October
Exactly the. It was september
They never said September
No they said September at 1 point
no
End of september
They never did
End of 'October' is what they said
that was ppl talking ASA would go on in september wc never said anything about it
Find where they said it was delayed to September and send it to me
@stray elm I ain't doin all that work cuh
It was delayed once
Hey all, I always try to get information about ASA and everytime I see the channel ARK Ascended News on Twitter with the most information apart from those on community crunch. Has anyone here an idea where this channel get the information or can Tell me if it is in offical channel with real and true informations?
Whatās the difference between survival ascended and ark 2?
This server gets the announcements we just donāt have much yet
Ark 2 is a sequel and Ascended is an Ark 1 remaster.
Ascended being remaster means itās just better quality or?
Yeah, theyāve announced some balance changes, cave changes, and QoL changes nothing super specific. Plus wild babies and whatever mechanics that entails. The engine is being upgraded to UE5. They say thereās more changes but thatās really all theyāve given us so far.
Sounds good, thanks
Ok thats nice to know. Thank you
I'm mostly playing Ark in third person, and sometimes in first for some stuff todo,so i hoped it would be the same in ARK 2, people could change betweem first and third person, i really hoped those 2 would stay.
But seems like it its only third person,i'm still hoping they will change it back so you still could use both.
How much does Ark2 will cost?
$300
Iād wager close to 60$
Maybe 50 If itās releasing in EA
When is ark 2 out
Ark 2 is a completely different game, it will be by design at least as far as we know official will be third person only.
They have confirmed that they will allow 1st person to be turned on by mod ability so unofficial will be able to. And who knows maybe they will introduce some mod enabled official servers.
Combat in Ark 2 will be intended for 3rd person so turning on 1st person could possibly disadvantage you.
Will ark 2 have all the dinos that weāve voted for, or is that for Ascended?
Thatās Ascended
Ok thx so if it is possible for unofficials to use first person so will be for Single Player too?
it's gonna depend on people making first person mods for Ark 2, as Wildcard currently haven't said anything about adding it back themselves as Ark 2's new mechanics/changes to the playstyle are probably gonna be easier/better to make for third person only as opposed to first and third person instead (aka Ark 1 mechanics). so just like Ark 1 if you want something that won't be on officials servers you can use a mod on unofficial and singleplayer if Ark 2's gonna have them both
is there gon be character creation?
We can hope
I dont think they said anything about it but there will probably be
seeing as there's gonna be character progression and a skill system it would be very weird to not have visual character creation there like we currently got
ā¢ļø
Fs in the chat
So what new dinos are in 2?
New? Aside from the legendary Saladmander and that spider thing, I don't think we've seen anything but returners
besides the brachio, salamander and Aratai we haven't seen amyhthing new
Was it confirmed a Brachi? I thought it was just speculation
So far Ascended looker better but idk
