There's passive-taming, which involves feeding a specific creature with food in your last hotbar.
Then there's knockout taming that's 90% of the creatures in the base-game, and like 70% with all DLC's included.
Knock them out via club, slingshot, torpor arrows/darts, etc. Once knocked out you can feed them their preferred food.
Which knowing their preferred food is kind of obvious if you know differences between herbivores and carnivores.

There's no shot in hell that they don't add cryos, the perf gains are too much and it's what is in the game as is, which is part of the point of ASA, present the game largely as is for the ones who really like ASE but with some improvements that won't overshine the base qualities of the game

Now, not having them at the start, and adding them at Extinction (as it was orginally released)? That's a possibility, if only to check the exact server strain when removing them, for a short time (and possibly also to allow players to play the new DLC like it was with Scorched or Ab, with no cryos at launch 😂 )

Switch isn't all that impressive, but that's a fair estimate for a self contained version of Ark 2 or something similar, no way a phone could handle UE5 without streamed gameplay. Most phones don't have any more than 100 gigabytes standard anyways, which could easily be the game's size or close enough to it that you'd have to have a phone dedicated to just Ark 2 😅

But who knows, phone tech advances a bit faster than people think, since we (i.e., humanity) use them almost as an attachment or addition to ourselves

Ark2 isn't bad, it's still in development. Ark Asc is a thing because that's literally what the players asked for. More Ark1, but better.

If a company sells a promise via Early Access and fails to deliver then they are open to lawsuits, that's the consumer's protection.
