This has been an argument many many times, and will likely continue, but the gist of it is, Ark 1 is broken. A lot of stuff probably can't even be fixed, even with the new upgrade. The game is 8 years old, and half the time when they DO fix something, something else breaks. It's time for a new game, as much as I love Ark 1.

I think whats more disappointing than rushed shit is companies being very corporate with their money/content

So “polished” or finished mechanics in games are weighed down by shortcuts because theyre too afraid to invest in something ambitious

Also when game companies just actually dont give a shit to fix the overlying issues with a game because they dont want to spend 5% of their revenue from the game they made

Tying back into deadlines too because they simply can also not have time to fix it because they have to shit out another game

(But also bigger companies have multiple teams to do stuff so also its really like “why improve it we still get money” in the end)

It could also be an evolving story - For example, first map we are new to Arat and the Aratai are hostile/unwelcoming to invaders and usually attack on sight. Maybe something happens during 2nd/3rd map/DLCs that starts to change their opinion, maybe a bigger Element threat that we need to work together on - that way the interactions with the Aratai change over the life of the game

Kinda like Sea of Thieves introducing new PvE threats, events, and Tall Tales as the story progresses

It’s just another element which the studio will have to intertwine into the game. I think it’s a given that it will be harder, and another element of the game which could be bad. Again, I’m not saying it will suck, or simply including a story would ruin the game. I personally just don’t think it’s necessary.

What I really want out of ark 2 is just that incredible sense of progression and reward. As well as more dinosaurs but less mystical creatures, not that those are bad but more real world dinosaurs would be cool. I don’t have any ideas for how they could expand tamed creatures but what I do know is that I loved the way they did it in the first game, you really had to dedicate time and effort and it was immensely rewarding. Plus tamed creatures in ark survival are cool and fun to use. But if they could really focus on that element and improve upon it, or exceed expectations there, I would be extremely happy.

Customizability imo is what protected ark 1 from some of its greatest design failures. Settings changes and mods allowed a bunch of people who’d otherwise drop the game to keep playing (I know that’s true for me)
