#ark-2

and said constraints dont have to be cool
the issue is that magic constraints can be formed to still be cool
And typically the restraints on magic are far more arbitrary and nonsensical
physics can
Quit comparing pocket protectors and bring it back around to Ark 2.
but its way harder
Fuckin nerds
that doesnt really matter
I don't think nonsense is cool, but that's just me I guess lol
probably
you try to think way too hard about a video game
i just need things to look cool and be fun
I have yet to encounter an actual magic idea that actually made sense and was well developed
excessive rationality is great in almost 0 cases
i mean theres a couple well developed magic systems
like Tolkiens
Fuck tolkiens
but usually magic is just there to make a decent story
and heres a thing with magic today, we already have decent tropes and systems to copy from
Tolkeins system of magic was never explained or described lol, so it's hard to classify it
you dont need to build a new system from nothing
That is why windows is terrible though
Ark 2s magic will for sure be element related
Ark magic is basically star wars magic
Essentially just humanoid manas
Adding scraps and nonsense onto old systems invariably makes issues lol
Good ending: the aratai end up with tek and wipe out humanity because Vin wnats to be a tek hater
that happens if your system needs to be perfectly self consistent
magic doesnt
magic, you get a broad concept, shove it in, and glue the edges with lore copium
Which makes it distinguishable from advanced technology, which was my whole point lol
its like starwars
Techy space shit with organisms that defy what is physically possible for no real reason why
Yeah don't get me started with that lol
advanced tech is something i think nobody has ever actually implemented in a fictional setting to a degree that satisfies the type of people who worry about details like this
Starwars was a cool concept in like the 80s
It's inconsistent lol
i asked somewhere about what franchise has done this sort of realism well and i got the one series every stem nerd talks about, the expanse
anything besides the expanse? who knows
machines that poop out easily domesticated dinosaurs some how
and its not like i havent seen people meme about how the expanse isnt realistic enough
so i think the whole worrying over realism isnt actually useful or healthy for fictional worlds
Tbh, cloning is way more real and consistent than magic "force"
it can be good, but the costs involved are not outweighed by the marginal benefits evidently
Yeah but still crazy and isnt possible its just cool
But like dragons, and a lot of other creatures are just magic
True, but I do like it when the world creation is robust enough to not seem trivial. And when people create their magic system or whatever, it always seems trivial, incomplete and not well developed
thats because you can never make a non trivial magic system
And ark 2 cant really be a zoo like ark 1 now because we aren’t reliant on a system anymore?
If the system is well designed and self consistent then sure it's fine
Lore wise
that barely exists
ye
youre asking for magic, developed by a single author, to have the rigor and self consistency of a stem field
this is way too much detail to ask for
To have the same level of thought and attention to detail, yeah
I still want my tek gun
I have no real issue with people putting magic in things, but there has to be depth of thought in it. I don't like trivial concepts when trying to read a book or anything lol
im not 100% sure on the whole mechanics around Nen
youre talking about the system from hxh?
@vital jetty
If it works with the game its fine
i think the hxh author is just exceedingly skilled at making lore imo
just saying dragons only fit because the machine can make whatever it wants
How some things have powers is pure magic and it’s understandanding is beyond our current knowledge irl
Just video game shit
If ark were to fall back on magic I would take that as a sign that they lost their ingenuity and creativity
it can maybe be done sure, but the bar is way too high
i dont think ark should be all magic
i just like some lore systems and tropes that exist through magic and magic adjacent systems
They really cant fall back on it now because now were on an alien planet
No doubt those creatures will harness the power of some element too
summoning demons can be a thing in sci fi too
but its more of a "magic" thing
and we alr know the arks can basically conjour up anything they want to provided it has existed in human consciousness
How tf xan u summon Sci fi deamons
or maybe just anything at all, human known or not
anything labeled fiction has the most insane flexibility so like… if it works it works
AI, waking up powerful aliens, etc
The issue is that it usually doesn't work lol
This is getting weird
a demon is just a name to an evil monster usually from hell or who works for the antagonist to god
but add in some abstraction copium and anything i listed is basically a demon
I mean if it has “fiction” its really up to the creative quality of the author
Science fiction is less strict but like ppl said still bendable heavily
Probably some sort of magic ritual involving element
of human arrogance, the old gods, an alien race that came before us, whatever you want
The ones who bend it to far kind of fail usually lol
You gotta sacrifice 15 dodos on an altar made of pure element to summon the sci-fi demon dodo
You are deranged
That sounds like primal fear. And I didn't like that mod lol
You guys are gonna love magic in Ark I promise
Meh
Give my angels all control
ark magic only good for creatures i feel like
how did primal fear work out
Pretty sure it’s a very popular mod
It looks fun
People love that shit
whats pros cons
Idk I haven’t played it
People who like it are the people who got bored of normal ark and are too stubborn to play anything else lol
I’d rather prefer having magicsl creatures (drakes, wyverns, reapers)
There’s gonna be an entire skill tree dedicated to element corruption
I don't consider those magical lol
Now you have peaked my attention
Only mods i ever thought shouldve been in the real game/were entertaining was ark additions and ultrastacks
Fantasy sure, but fantasy != magical lol
Ultrastacks makes the game too easy, and ark additions has broken dinos
Imma run a corruption build
Just imagine running into something you’re not prepared for and casting a spell on your raptor to make it run faster
Still, i wouldnt be surprised if they were gutted if they were in the real game
Average mindless guys love AA
Then lobbing fireballs over your shoulder at your pursuers while you ride your raptor through the jungle with your long Fabio hair blowing in the wind.
See, this type of thing can be done without magic
Theyre fucking sick and it looks miles better then base game dinosaurs headass
Ark already has fireballs you can throw, they just need to be made better
It’s Elemagic
Most of the dinosaurs in the base game are leagues under the new stuff and the new stuff is mostly comprised of non dinosaurs
ark additions reinstalls the flare of the actual dinosaurs being interesting
And those dinosaurs make a good picture of what the second game could approve upon
While yes op, just designed exceptionally well
Shadowmane is probably the best thing wildcard has ever designed
yes
Yes yes ofcourse no one else has ever replicated or surpassed such quality
But it is BUSTED
Yes in a mod sense, ark additions has the most quality
Of course
Though only good for pve
May I present Paleo ARK/No Untameables/Dino Hoarders’ TLC
All of them are “creature” mods
No untamables is cool af
Just waiting for the, “you said garuga sucks”
Garuga is great 💯
But not the best of all time

These are just qol things tho
at least from what i understand
Then try to understand a bit better 👍🏽
I dont have to?
Then don’t say things you don’t understand?
My opinion is that ark additions is the best creature mod?
Isn’t Garuga a Naruto character
And i dont see those as relative equals because those are more or less improves upon old creatures
Monster Hunter
While still good in its own respects, i just dont see them as something i need when doing a pve game
Making new models involves work, the same work Garuga does
Arent they just resculpts?
No 🤣
idk i havent used them in a long time
If onyl 3d modelling were so easy
Then pls do
… dies …
I thought you were PvP?
'Basically an alpha'?
Not anymore no
You don’t have 4 arms and 2 brains to play 2 ARK instances simultaneously
Peasant.
I grew up and now i come back and just do pve because pvp wasted my highschool life basically
Thought so
You're welcome to leave
Yeah I’ll leave sorry 😞
Boohoo
😭
Don’t cry at my departure I’ll always return, thanks for being so fond of me 🥲
Tbf i am mentally incapable of seeing discord users as other ppl sometimes
The only other tlc mod creature i liked was carno dino hoarders but that mod was fairly buggy
Oh you need therapy too! Sooo relatable! I still need to get my IQ down to normal levels 😢
Sorry I made a typo I meant up*
Thanks nobody ever laughs at my jokes 🥲
Yw
I’m gonna ping a mod and she’s gonna ban you guys for getting off topic
Ark 2, anyways, they should switch thyla to sabers niche
You do realise that by calling my statement a joke I essentially uno reversed you
Yeah whatever man if you have to compensate for things in discord you do you
That’s what they all say 😉
I moved on main character, time to skip dialogue
thylacoleo should be the new saber in ark 2 i think
Would it still climb?
yes
Thylacosmilus/smaller marsupial
Should rather fit that niche if at all
And the Thylacoleo should be removed
Oh yeah. Scrap the saber then idc
Saber should definitely be upscaled to a Smilodon
I hope nothing gets removed and every known tame makes it into Ark 2
Does the same thing relatively
And instead of thyla being such an insane brawler its switched to an assasin
With smilodon becoming the brawler/bleeder minus the climbing
first trailer had the aratai chieftain with what looked like a saber skull as his mask, so very likely it's returning.
i think anything with a skull Comes back
Humans confirmed
idk why it wouldnt feels weird
Dilo too
you know what i mean i dont have to explain that
Reapers confirmed
Erm no
Oh reapers are coming back for sure
Get yo stinky xenomorph clone outta here
They all blew up on the other ship
: )
Nah man. My reapers were on that ship. They will have survived for sure.
Bring back rockdrakes
I’m honestly gonna be bummed out of drakes don’t make the cut
The reapers shoudlve just been like a variant of nameless
Wouldve made them feel more like the villains if that map
Why?
They were already the main villain (creature wise) of the map
They wouldve felt more like minions that fit better instead of
Hairless rats and just a xenomorph that really look like they have no correlation to eachother
I hope snow owls return
Reapers aren’t minions
Dollie said Reapers will be sneaked in
Id imagine they wouldnt be Snow owls anymore but yeah i could see it
To what, is unconfirmed
dlc probably
They’re mankind’s punishment for that time the survivors decided to fuck around and find out what happens when they nuke an overseer
R-Snowowls we’re never snow owls
ah! A piece of the rockwell ship landed on arat! Whatever will i do!
Still a snow owl. Snow owls irl can be found in more than the snow but they are still snow owls
id expect it to come back as just the snow owl
Or just like… a more tropical version
Well then why tf wouldn’t they be snow owls any more on Arat?
Havent seen snow yet so who knows
Did you see snow on Gen 2?
Trve
honestly
Depends on what dlcs they do.
If theres like a snow dlc then id assume thered be owls
Since its not a base game creature to me its expectations of being in the regular game are lower
I feel like theyd go for redoing more of their island creatures
I can’t imagine that happening.
They’re to deep in the franchise to do something so basic
Drakes are iconic in ark, they could do them
Bugs are iconic in ark, and I hope they don't intentionally to those lol
I don't remember bugs being iconic
Getting chewed on by a Titanomyrna as a Bob is a rite of passage
The game is buggy lol
Why would you expect there won’t be snow on Arat? Saying you didn’t see it already makes no sense because they didn’t release any screenshots or videos from gameplay.
We didn’t see anything. Snow, rain, dinos, the map etc. But still expect to see all of those.
If they don't release anything this week, that's dangerous
i think there might be a model for the planet in the devkit, Bootleg mentioned it once i think
My prediction for this week: community’s corner and some community draws.

I will smite if they don't roadmap
@lime forge will suffer the consequences of his deceitful actions
They might, I would be happy, but I have zero expectations TBF
I never have used the dev kit, but I’ve read people saying that in here.
we didn't expect the weapon moding system to be shown last week as well
That didn't really reveal anythingTBH
This people also said the planet is like a huge set of island
even without the devkit we can see the planet in the Ark 2 cutscene from gen 2
Yeah yeah, that I’ve seen. But not much info from this curscene. 🤣
we can look if there's snowy mountains 🤣
It did to me actually. Any new info is welcome.
Man, you have a good vision.
But seriously, makes no sense not to have things we are already used. Ocean, snow, caves etc will be there I think.
Some might not be finished day one, but eventually they will be there
Source??? Very intrigued by the prospect
Dollie didn't say reapers will be snuck in, she said she likes them and that they might find a way in
Sounds like DLC or later in development addition
We really need boosted Terrorbirds to ARK2.
With old kibble system I did breed quality ones few times in official servers and oh boy those bird were AWESOME.
Now days getting those lines takes way too much work and I could use my time way better by breeding more useful lines with same amount time.
My conclusion. If their base weight could be higher they wouldn't have to be breed so much before practical use and so they could really be viable option at early game.🧐
It literally could be a tropical environment only game
No idea of knowing
until they publish something
Why is it not safe to have a vague specualtion
They could do anything
There might not even be snow on the base map and it might even be a dlc snow map
fuck they could do an ocean dlc
Terror birds in ark one are lame as hell
Im hoping they are based in the plains and not the redwoods in the second game
Man reacted to his own post 🤮
Ooor, just nerf everything to terror bird status lol
More terror birds!
Yes
They are annoying loud
Wait, no, I'm switching my opinion to cause controversy
fits perfectly in this chat then
Nah, that'd be 'annoying'
I LOVE terror birds! They're so cool! I love they sound they make as they pin me into a rock as soon as I spawn in any zone they are in!
They look fine, that's the only thing they have going for them
idk what kind of genitalia you've seen, but if you saw one that looks like a terror bird you need help

Everything else about them sucks is really cool and I like it
The non feathered parts have just icky texture that is mostly my reasoning
Which… being ugly can be a good design but like for a giant apex bird that hunts very elegantly it feels weird
well… irl its like that
horrible in the game in every regard
But i agree
I think upscaling terror bird stats would make it better if it had the something else plus flappy bird
If they do put them in Ark 2, I very much want them to look like scaled up shoebills for sure
Yiss
I think the mangy “gross”bird fits something like argy better anyways
And honestly i want an eagle for the base game to replace argy in functinality or i guess… griffin?
Argy should be just the bruiser bird you can use as a smithy and have something like an eagle (owl) be used as an assasin or ganker/be able to pick up things
Giant eagle/falcon would be cool if it could knock out flying stuff with a punch too
Falcon Punch?
🍿
@drowsy ibex Can we have weight boosted terrorbird?
Where do you think falcon punch comes from 💀
Better in concept then a fuckin pterandon barrel roll (worst shit ever)
I cant tell if you think thats a bad idea or your thinking falcon punch makes no sense because falcon punch is really only known for captain falcon and not the actual bird
cause i think if it only could be used on flyers i think it wouldnt be op
And if it was hard to aim
If there is someone working on ark 2 I have an idea on carnotaurus:
They can have highly complex camouflage abilities and they would follow you around for about 2 minutes before attacking. You would be able to find them by hearing there breathing or a dim outline. The only way to scare them off is by moving a light source at them and they will try to blend with the light or run away. (Based off of Michael chricton's jurassic park sequal)
Ah yeah, if they're goin to rework their design and bring em over to Ark 2, they might as well add a new ability. Part of their evolution in harsher conditions?
Its already confirmed to be getting some kind of charge attack. Makes a lot more sense than camouflage
i'd rather let the carno have a impaling charge attack instead of some complex camo. a mix of the kentro impale and rhino charge for the carno could be cool.
based on musculature, its predicted that terror birds (kelenken) killed by either kicking slashes (like the secretary bird irl) to face, or clamping that mean ass beak on something's neck and bashing the skull into the ground (like roadrunners irl)...not that i'm a masochist or anything but that animation would be incredible lol
Based chatter moment
I think the legs on the Terror birds need to be longer and more ostrich like
Also yes the weight is horrible…that whole class of small early game tames is hamstrung by weight so low it cripples its own utility
with the player combat system getting an overhaul, it would be awesome if some of the dinos also had souls-like moves to use while riding. kicking combos and biting grapples from a mounted terror bird (or any other dino for that matter) would completely change gameplay 🤞 wishful thinking...
I want this too…almost more than player should like combat
That's the dilemma, will they or won't they go the extra mile and implement unique, never-before-seen dino-based skill-based combat... I think they will, but who really knows?
All we kinda know for Dino combat atm is that models won't really clip inside each other when fighting, and that the impact from dmg will be more visceral and detailed for where it's hit I think.
I hope bite attacks arent fucking static
Like when you bite something you hold onto it
Hopefully the biting attacks dont just phase through everything
would easily fit into the lore. with the wreckage of the Genesis Eden ship malfunctioning, altered dinos would have exposure to the alien proteins and enzymes that could change them in any number of ways. who knows, maybe the Aratai have their methods of training their native creatures to fight...
There’s no lore needed
It’s a basic change in complexity between the arcade ark 1 style and the more gritty and realistic ark 2 style
Also…not all bites are grapples. Key distinction
Hoepefully somewhere down the line they pull a shadow of war
And you could recruit aratai, cause dinosaurs cant hold bows/guns
lol this is Ark, lore is needed everywhere
I hope not. Politely I’m heavily disinterested in human ai companions
It still holds on no matter how long, otherwise its not even an attack
Lore is always added after gameplay
Gigantopithicus need to be able to hold weapons fr
Be able to suit it up in armor and give it certain weapons but it makes it unridable
…what?
It’s game logic. “Sticky” bites will feel extremely annoying since it’ll look like bad collision
You really would want bites to either be a steady hitbox with a possible stagger attached or be a full grapple similar to a megalo…or a form where the bite attaches the two creatures and they are both movement locked
considering other UE5 games with mounted combat, as long as there are visual cues on how to grapple/release, it could definitely work
I want the option to hold on, maybe hold the button down? Then, swing the mouse/stick/whatever you use to look to try and tear flesh off
Can't remember the game I have in mind, but it's like that 😂
sounds like a great way to make sarcos viable with a damage multiplier
Oh for sure, I wanna see the death roll lol
Seeing some grapple based tames would be great - stats alone aren’t enough to make things stand out
Unique attack styles and ways of play are imo what helps make something special
agreed
you know would be great....
allow to enter server IP in game instead through steam
What Raq said
I think you and the word deceitful need to get to know one another a bit better.
fr
I was hoping so hard for a leak in the announce
Would it still be a leak?
How would taming work with the dark souls combat?
How would dark souls combat affect taming at all?
Yeah...
It wouldnt really
It’s probably more complex
I feel like if they wanted to make it better most animals would be tamed by bonding in some form rather than beating the shit out of everything
Idk. Stockholm syndrome is very real.
yes please
the immersive taming mod could be something of a template
having to tame by making the right bait, you can pet amd hand feed them, some you have to beat the shit out of then they let you feed
I’d love it more if you didn’t need extensive prep
It would be amazing if taming could be opportunistic and less about hauling a bunch of taming materials around searching for a creature
How would make it like that
Make it action instead of material based?
Or make the material requirement only be local materials that can be harvested or crafted on site
I never enjoyed hauling around narcotics and tranqs on the off chance I found something good…but it’s so much better than seeing what you want and being completely unable to try to tame it because you didn’t load your inventory with “could be” taming materials
could work
i hope that regular traps wont be useful anymore because of the improved ai
Please please please please please please PLEASE make the sloped roof pieces in Ark II capable of snapping to a wall on all sides.
Asking too much Steve
and make vertically flipped slopes
I'd be pretty happy with S+ building structure/snap point integration, and if building pieces actually placing where the outline shows and not some mystery snap point or demolishing a random wall/ceiling halfway across your base
I probably lost enough walls and pillars due to mystery snaps and random demos to build my own Wall of China
Just want a roadmap or gameplay footage. As a peasant pve player on Ark 1 the game is dead with average of three people online.
Soon™️
we're getting a development roadmap this month
Hopefully kinda sad watching all my favorite streamers delude to videos based off a photo and lack of content
Just want to punch some trees with my tribe and explore new lands. 🙂
how do i become a tester for ark 2
Wait for release 😂
lol
Immersive taming can happen without any materials. Save some dinos from being eaten and it starts the process. You can literally pet them and get 100% TE. Pretty sure they implied that kind of thing will happen in Ark 2. As well as finding babies/ eggs during world events
In the trailer they seemed to be carrying and protecting an egg wrapped up.
so seems probable
Even then, most of the materials for basic IT baits can be crafted on the go. Only the kibbles or Trophy baits for 'Challenge' tames need a bit more pre-work
I just dont want a super taming pill that tames everything and takes weeks to spoil. Each dino has a unique way to be tamed.
Agreed, kibbles imo need to go. All of the dogs I've owned 1000% prefer steak to dry kibble 😂
Im ok with kibble as backup source.. just dont allow 100% TE and maybe take longer. My dogs always wanted what i was eating... even broccoli! So maybe they need to see you make a meal 🙂
Cauliflower lowkey my pup's favorite 😂
Wonder if we'll be able to privately share build templates or if it will be public. Can see trading base designs
Taming things with basically animal cereal
Better used for feeding troughs if it were to stay
Animal cereal 😂
But kibble as long lasting fodder food post tame is a pretty good idea
I’m fine with kibbles for a wide variety of things…just not taming
Highly crafted foods in general should be used for buffing or used for specific QoL purposes within your base/tames…so we can avoid another ark 1 situation of just hauling taming stuff everywhere on the off chance you find what you want
how heavy your taming stuff that it bother you so bad?
Less to do with weight and more with the “I’m leaving my base” checklist
👀
But again, Im hoping they get away from huge variations in tame stats. Make it more important to have the right tame for the right job... and know how to use them.
well if its nothing to do with weight.
why not carry taming stuff on you all the time...
200 arrows
200 narcotics
cross bow and replacement one.
all are like 100-150 weight max
For small tames in the early game that’s prohibitive, but for other tames it’s just annoying clutter
There’s no reason it has to be that way
Ideally the variation within a species is minimal and variation between species is large. Agree
Which brings in breeding. Im curious how they are gonna keep the number of tames on the server down. And if dino armies are gonna be needed.
PvP will always want expendable tames is my guess
But hopefully the removal of mutation stacking (I’m praying) will remove the need for massive operations. Since that tends to be why so many tames are out
True. Im a solo PVE guy and dont need a lot of tames. but the lag around the bases with huge amounts of tames out is discouraging. It would be nice if they had a barn or some kind of instance that pushed taming off the main server. Allow PVP to destroy the barn and all babies but no need to tie up the server with tames that arent being used.
not taming but breeding
Breeding imo needs to be massively downscaled in importance
I feel breeding was a key factor in early games. You needed a decent army to survive and challenge bosses. And then it became fun as you tried for unique color patterns. It can be toned down a bit but I like that part of the game for longevity.
i'm getting flashbacks to breeding for bosses on island before we had mutators
ahh, the good ole days when you couldnt sleep for days as you tried to get max imprinting on a rex.
yeah i stopped playing pvp when i discovered its just a matter of who can grind more and faster XD
Ark PvP not fun for me because you can’t just get into the action
running is an action. so is dying! 🙂
You died? Grind more. You’re fighting someone who did more grinding? Oops you’re out statted and out kitted
If you consider “the action” of PvP to be any verb yes 😂
Which given what I’ve seen, you may have to define it that way 😂😂
I agree that the biggest problem with PVP is you couldnt get anywhere with just an hour of play per week. But i hear rumor that PVP and PVE will be on the same map for Ark 2.
The rumor has no merit so dw about that
Dollie seemed to confirm it’ll be like ark 1 with PvP and PvE being available as separate modes
Sure hope they are pushing to get this out in Jun or July. Doesnt seem to be much else big coming out then.
any more buzz about the re-release of OG Ark in UE5?
i kinda assumed that would come out before Ark2
No, we will know more about all upcoming projects with the roadmap when it comes out this month.
they have put gameplay out 1 or 2 months before, with Atlas i think it was 1 month before launch. So purely speculating here if the roadmap were to have a date for gameplay in like April or May and release around late Q2 or early Q3 it could happen, but the whole ''Ark 2 must come out in June'' thing started bc the Xbox banner from the showcase last june with ''all games listed coming in the next 12 months including Ark 2'' could have been Wildcard giving Xbox a timeframe when they thought it would be out. But that could've changed after the showcase and in the last few months.
I agree. But MS is not known for letting a ROI sit idle, they will be pushing to get revenue off the game. Hopefully the Dev team stays true to making what they want, but money talks. Loud. I want to believe the game is 99% done and they are just cleaning up quirks. And waiting for the right release window which MS will have a bit of say in.
And quit reminding me that they did Atlas too... so much potential in that game that slipped away.
The game is DEFINITELY not anywhere near 99% done, seeing as how it's coming out in early access lmao
Also, they didn't make Atlas
they only helped by sending some devs over to help, just like how Grove Street games is helping with Ark 2
yup, the door swings both ways lol almost not even worth a mention since Altas flopped
Im confident the game is playable now. Early access from the bigger developers doesn't mean they are still developing the game. It's generally to load test servers and fine tune game balance with people that haven't been completely engrossed in the game for years.
dont get me wrong, its a decent game. in fact, the mods that ported in Atlas elements look phenomenal. maybe dont move the best in Ark environments, but they work just fine in their own. when comparing the 2 side by side though, can def tell which had more player base
There's cool parts of Atlas. I'd like to see naval/ air combat take a bigger role in Ark 2.
for sure
It does. Which is why the call to not release too soon and risk an ark 2 flop was made
A quick release that results in a bad product that fails is the last thing anyone wants. It seems to me like gameplay has heavily under development and has been heavily subject to swings in basic core features
Can’t share news if the material is either changed immediately or not there
I do love griefing my enemies out of shooting distance 🥲
🍿
Ships & boats be like:
big ship of the lines would be great
totally, 100 gun sailing ships in ARK 2 is very realistic
i'm sure itll work as well as the tek atv lol
I hope ARK 2 takes naval aspects from P+
There could be primitive options for underwater bases
Air-lines, simple pumps to drain water, waxed seals to keep out water
lol yes, i want a thatch-tier underwater base
It would be pretty funny to see, if impractical
Zero protection if found, so its that actually helpful?
could ask the same questions of every piece of thatch structure
honestly, youre right: would be impractical. i play unofficial rates on my server so i typically skip thatch tier anyway
i love ark and anime
Its simple to have underwater bases... plants create oxygen and light already so why is that not allowed? Use any material to create moonpool bases. A bull whale ramming a boat has been around on earth for centuries. Dolphins are known to flip debris at boats.. just make em bigger so its now a coral ball. Comparing ark2 to ark1 is a huge injustice to the developers.
Remind yourself we're exploring a completely foreign world with unknown creatures and materials - its completely reasonable to believe there could be an excellent waterproofing agent to be found that could allow underwater living
thats why i kinda think theyll be regional dlcs
I think an ocean map if the game functions like its steam page says, it’d be a whole different gane
i would love if the DLCs are presented as legit space travel to other worlds
Ocean living if the game is more “primitive” itll probably be like avatar
If underwater bases are not a thing I am going to be disappointed
I think they would but not initially
They shouldn't be Bob friendly, but they should be viable
depends in how far along the base game actually is
I don't underestimate wc lol
The survivors on the Arks are also the survivors on Ariat. The knowledge is there, just takes some engineering
my default is underestimating
But wildcard has like the actual resources to make like a perfect game unlike ark 1’s launch
It won't be perfect, forget about it
It will be released as an Early-access game
It won't be finished nor polished
Those can still be fun no?
as my dad often reminded me, potential doesnt mean shit if you dont get off your ass...
it CAN be a perfect game. doesnt mean it will
I didn't say it won't be fun... You've said it can be perfect, I'm saying it won't
The issue here is, what's perfect?
If you mean no issues at all, then it won't be perfect 100% for certain
Burst of reality, it won't be perfect. They already said it won't be for everyone, so they basically already expect a bunch of people to be mad and disappointed lol
There's that too. If perfection means 100% of players will love it, It won't be perfect.
Nothing is perfect
If the game has overwhelmingly fun aspects that outweigh its flaws is what makes it good, i guess perfect is loose
Ark 1 is mixed in that regard
The term “perfect” is thrown around loosely nowadays
It used to mean the epitome of something, a synonym for best
It's debatable if this would fit the definition of perfect
The most chad thing a human can do in that field
loose
Has yet to come out so i cant call it good or bad
Great game*
Wc just has a 20 x better starting point for ark 2 compared to 1
I don't think perfect in gaming exists lol, I think good, great and bad is all you can achieve lol
I'm just saying, don't expect it to be perfect. If by perfect you meant no bugs/issues. It will have bugs/issues.
Nah
It doesn't
Never played thst game
if i can maintain fun throughout the games life cycle then itll be good
the only perfect game is the next one
Proof god loves us
So I don't have the nostalgia for it
It's close to it indeed, but it's not perfect LOL
Flawless.
Pokemon Platinum 👌🏽
Give me 20 minutes with it and I bet I could find a flaw lol
Modern Pokémon makes me hate all Pokémon
Raq is the real life Ian Malcolm
Nintendo ruined a great thing and I am SALTY
SAME
Don't know what that means lol
Nintendo ruins a lot of things
Jurassic Park
Oooohhh
Black suit guy
I actually like that lol
XD
I mean, to start Nintendo games have bad graphics. Not the most important thing for a game, sure, but a perfect game should excel on all areas/features
anyways... that's a a neverending discussion LOL
Bro go play it
Nintendo should’ve stuck with pixel art on Pokemon series
The 3D models have improved
But some of them look so lifeless
Even in Gen 9
I did, like almost 30 years ago LOL
And back then there were better graphics already
I thought the whole concept of Pokémon was kind of dumb tbh
look, not saying graphics are important, but perfection is about excel on all matters
We know Raq, you don’t like art
But I didn't grow up with it
You’re prolly fuckin vegan too
Tf
Don't like Jurassic Park and thinks pokemon is dumb... WTH?
Who would even admit that
Hey, I didn't grow up with this stuff, so coming into it later , it really doesn't seem that great
Are you a K-Pop fan?
Pokemon was pretty goundbreaking for being a ton of gamer's first introduction to RPGs, anime, and gotcha style games. Is it amazing? Not really, none of the games really have any serious innovations over the previous games aside from one-off gimmicks
Sure I'll take that, I didn't have that though. So it doesn't have a nostalgia factor for me
Also "mobile" (gameboy) and network games (gamelink)
Fair, nostalgia is a pretty huge factor in enjoying it
It was kinda revolutionary back then
I mean, the plow was revolutionary back in its time. That doesn't mean I want to use it lol
Just messing with you. Of course you are entitled to dislike it. LOL
I don't really dislike it. I just don't really get impressed by it
Fair enough
Tbh though, plows in ark2 could be epic
I've been saying that
Ark needs more tools, not just more creatures
Like, there should be no reason we have to use crop plots to plant things we should be able to use the ground lol
sure
valheim does that pretty well
It's not hard it seems
I have heard good things about valhiem, and I know the devs talked about it back when the announcement first came out
It's nice, but still in EA, so a lot is missing
Is it me or is every game these days in a perpetual ea?
I think there's a reason for that, indie devs can publish their games easily
they don't need publishers anymore
but they don't have the budget to keep developing the games for years, and they are using EA programs
I guess that could be
Qucker and easier return on investment, and players prefer instant gratification and feeling like they're apart of the development process by providing feedback
Valheim is pretty good imo, unique style and focus on exploration while having clear progression. Plus all worlds are randomly generated so replays are more unique than starting on the Island for the umpteenth time
If they can get procedural generation down for Ark 2, might be the best game ever
They've tried on Ark 1
it didn't work well. It didn't last long
I know I have pic of Jat saying 'how it it guys' I was there >:)
it had a lot of issues but only cause it was underdeveloped / abandoned
ark 2 ?
I hope they do procedural maps + handmade regions
🍻
sleep eat ark repeat
procedural so it can have more variation and be larger, but handmade where needed
I regret making a sniper rifle
🍿
no
One of the founders worked for another studio and that studio Sued WC because of a non compete agreement
But that's very old news. Happened before Scorched was released (that's one of the reasons it was a paid DLC according to the rumors back then).
Snail games never sued WC, AFAIK
Yh
They just did
😂
Snail games law suit yh
They own about 55 percent of ark
Or some hints y they not gettin mad about copy right for ark
For what? Where did you see it?
Copy right in ark 2
Why sue WC if they own it?
That’s why the game has been taken of steam as a upcoming
Idk it’s over some shite tbh
It hasn't been taken off of steam..
It’s really dumb
Nah, that never happened
Ark 2 u Doyle
You are probably confused
It was a upcoming game and got taken. Off
funny that you think it's bc of that lmao, it's changed to ''coming soon'' on steam bc they didn't give them an exact release date, it happend with other games and there is no lawsuit you idiot
It happened to all games with that tag...
they just changed the info to coming soon, to all games
there's no lawsuit AFAIK
lawsuit lmao, somone's got the tinfoil out.
least crazy ark players be like:
Maybe compromise and have a main map that is fixed but you delve in to instances for procedurally drawn maps.. perfect for caves and artifacts if we have them. Maybe even boss type arenas. Never know where to go until you actually go.
It's actually the other way around. WC sued them. 😂
Yeah, there's other game that did this, it had a nice result (won't name it because it can't be named here 😂 ).
Just agreeing with you
Maybe bro idk I saw sonthing about ark 2
Not on my name, it's a role
Not related to ark 2 lol
Anyway still never expect game to be out
ok, you can move on
I mean you can have your own opinions about the release
Officially it's just 2023
If for some reason it isn't out this year, I'm hopeful for next year
I'd feel better about it if they needed more time
Nonono
sounds like a plan
I don't know, being an EA means they can release it this year. They have the flexibility to say "it's EA". Unless it's really bad currently, which I don't believe.
Even then that's not horrible.
Well I know that. If they need to change it to have more time though, I would understand.
People are going to love or hate them no matter what they do, I'm just kind of at the point of "okay cool, just get it when you can" lol
But I don't believe June is the end of their release window (I believed on that before). Starfield was part of that game pass banner and it's release date was announced this week: september 2023.
A whole pc for only ark 2? Not at all. Play other games for now.
That was kind of an unnecessary comment
Roadmaps usually include time frames so I'm hopeful
The statement was "realeasing within the next 12 months", which would end on july. But Starfield is already confirmed to be released on september, which means Ark can also be released later.
Well, at least we might have a better idea this month. I believe no later than june (Xbox Showcase) we might have an update about the release date itself (real date? Postponement?).
2023, and they do answer, but most info is in the pinned messages.
june 12, I think. But they used the word "months" so it's more flexible I guess.
The roadmap covers all Ark frachise.
Wait for it
yeah, so i gave them june 30 as the end of their window LOL
july I would come here and complain
I'm just saying we don't have new info. Probably will come with the roadmap this month. I'm expecting info for the streaming service and release date.
I'm volunteering myself as farm slave
I’d bet they do have NDA compliant folks testing in their QA/QC process. But I doubt it’ll be anyone here chatting, and I highly doubt if a chatter got it they’d say anything here
They'd be in some massive trouble le if they leaked info under an nda
Not even directly violating but just the nature of what we talk about here probably hits at grey areas
Oh it definitely would lol
I’m guessing some of us stumbled on stuff WC is actually working on or considering…which is fine because we’re blind. But if any of us are under NDA that’s trouble lol
Im joking, berserkers seem to be joking too. 🤣
Nowadays it’s pretty common to open alpha insider programs. Microsoft does that a lot. I’ve participated on some. They have ways to get the leakers
But for Ark might not be so interesting to open up the game for that
Different workflow maybe
Also different risk perhaps
we all no ark 2 will be better way it will have shifter and flobs and charlie alpha andgp and boot leg o and me in ark 2 sow ark 2 will be better then ark 1
It’s bad for PvE in ark 1 too lol…it’s just harder to make other people miserable with PvE bugs 😂
it makes the voices in my head that originated from breeding more miserable
we're getting of topic, ''clears throat'' 'wHeN iS ThE RoAdMaP BeInG sHaReD aNd wHeN WiLl Ark 2 ReLeAsE? 🐔
🍻
How's pvp gonna work like 50 vin dasels running around
I can’t wait for ark 2
we're not gonna be vin diesel, at most he's a npc for the story
Oh thought he was the player
no, he's just Santiago
He's an NPC
The trailer seemed to make it look like he was the main character
An NPC can be a main-character
Npc mean non player character
Non 'player' character
A character that is not controlled by a player. Doesn't mean they can't have a role in the story
Oh I see what your saying I read it wrong
You're thinking of 'protagonist'
Main-characters are just characters that have a large role within the story.
A protagonist is who the story follows around
Edit: wrong channel 😛
hey guys when ark 2 coming out and is this "roadmap" thingy gonna be delay?
Isn’t the roadmap this month?
Yes
I'm so excited
water
I heard that WC is mailing everyone that is registered a thumbdrive that has the road map on it. Supposed to be huge!
🍻
I agree completely
The biggest issue with pvp is one: people. It’s easier to balance AI because it’s more predictable, it follows the rules.
Also, on pve, even when people use the exploits, they don’t really harm the other players (they do, but there aren’t a lot of situations the game allows to).
On pvp all exploits are used to take advantage over the other players.
That said, I’m pretty sure they already have pvp testers. I knew some Ark 1 testers and they were all from pvp.
and thats why the reason to so many exploits pass and when official 🤣
Will ark 2 be released this year?👀
I hate when games have pros play games and balance pvp, that is the elite side of the spectrum and they basicaly play a different game at such a skill level, but how does one reqruite an army of normal players and maintain confidentiality?
thats the purpose of testers though: to find hacky exploits so the devs can remove the "no-win" scenario
if the hack becomes the game, then the testers have failed
🍻
So has there been any news on ark 2? Haven't heard anything other than it'll prolly be 2023 and itll release on playstation last
🍻
Just to be clear, a hack is an external piece of software, and exploit is an internal issue. Testers can't prevent hacks lol
not 'hack' as in 'computer-hack', i meant hacky as in cheeky or cheap lol
That is an exploit, not a hack lol
ok?
OwO?
i am depressed
Sounds fun
Community crunch drops hopefully it has roadmap
Stop being depressed
can't wait for ark 2 to completely remove all the core things we love about ark 1 and turn it into a story mode game with 3-4 player co op 🙂
Same. So happy they’re adding more to the story side of the game. The bits and pieces in the notes were never enough. Plus with them getting rid of busted ass tek and revamping combat. Wish they would hurry up and give us access though.
you might want to stop watching youtube videos if that's how you think it will be, like Carry said it's better that they're revamping the boring as fuck cookie clicker combat and making the story better compared to Ark 1. But i guess them making the story and game better must mean we're no longer gonna have a survival sandbox game like Ark 1, we're getting the same type of game but just improved on what the first one was lacking. Also ''story mode with co-op'' hilarious that you thought that just bc the game will have a story that's better presented than Ark 1 🤣
dude they already sayd will be a next gen update for ark1
no need to make ark2 multiplayer
everything you people write down just gets dumber and dumber with each person
ah you must be new, welcome to the internet
that was once the purpose but for employees, now if you go "free" and ask players of your game to test it to find exploits and balance its gonna be the other way around
then why youre so worried about them making a ark 2 whit multi?
Multiplayer is already confirmed in the game's Main Menu
cuz i know how hard is to make a good multiplayer with storyline, and im fine with just ark 1 in new gen for multi(weigh 500Gb xD a full ssd low cost)
ho wait i dint read that part well, you think you gonna get a remake ark 1 🤣
Ark 1 is already confirmed to be moved to UE5. That’s not a question.
not remake, just next gen update
yeh im not seeing wildcard remaking all dinos to fit in this "next gen update"
Now that I think about it. This is exactly the reason you lost that bet that you flaked out on.
You have no credibility or a leg to stand on
its just upscale the textures then press nanite on xD
well for that you already have a exemple that jeremy share
I can’t wait for ark 2 !!!!
i cant wait for gameplay 🤣
🍻
🍻
I can’t wait to see people moaning something fierce after the gameplay trailer
“Feed me!” “I need info” they cry before hand
“What the hell is this?” “Why didn’t they show us anything important” “Why is this game not exactly the same as my fantasy interpretation of it?” they cry after
That is exactly how the majority of this chat will react
knowing the collective iq of the community this has a 97% chance of happening, even after something awesome being shown
i always refer to the vocal majority, the more silent part of the community is actually way better to try and communicate with.
the ones with correctly functioning brains at the very least
Or just play mirror's edge or the "Pirated ARK" ATLAS
They can do those even with first person
those same people play more in third person than they want to admit, but i guess it's good when it's on dinos, but somehow when everything is TPO it's bad it seems. Even after you tell them why first person wouldn't have worked well as third person
nooblets also doesn't help our current case
First person is good if you need something accurate like building and aiming
Most 3rd person build required a pre-made template
Only Valheim that is exclusively 3rd person without premades but it's hard to build
а руссие есть
Basically just premade 3x3s for example
But for free form building, it's different
жаль
Most building I see use first person (me included)
The only time you use 3rd person, and by extension, K Mode is when you don't want your survivor to rotate
Or mesh checking
I can’t wait to not have to check the mesh in Ark 2
who wants to join me official server in arc
Wrong channel
sorri
We do a bit of oracle work from time to time 😂
My fantasy version of it just has nerfed fliers
Your skill tree breeding combat and PvP feature requests aren’t part of that 😅
Sadly my main dream features will never show up in a gameplay trailer
I mean those would be cool, but all I really want is nerfed fliers
Fliers indeed would be danty as hell
realistically
Other than just like shooting off of the back of a flyer
Flyer vs flyer is its own thing
Tf does danty mean
Why not just say that lol
Even google doesn't know that word lol
XD dainty*, not danty
Dainty has connotations of being graceful, it doesn't even make sense given the context lol
A flying dinosaur that can carry a person is not dainty lol
I mean yeah but generally most flying animals are dainty/small
Its big but so is everything else on ark
Dainty isn't a good descriptive word in this case lol
Ok WEAK
like fucking every flier would get destroyed on the ground Irl by anything that is “around the same size or bigger”
Even though fliers are like half the weight of everything else inorder to fly
But videogame, so it doesnt matter
It does matter, fliers need a nerf, hard for gameplay
Which is why I didn't say use a sparrow in the game for fliers, I want the ingame ones to be weak 🙄
The sky would be like almost as limiting in a pvp sense
Only good for bombing and scouting
And both realms would have their own sense of pvp, mostly
no pteranodon is beating anything up unless its smaller than a raptor
Flyers if ark 2 is more gritty and grounded. Wouldnt be used for brawling with the exception of like 1-2 animals like argentavis for example
Fliers in ark 2 should have horrible air to ground matchups
Air to air seems fine. Transport seems fine. But air to ground combat is just poo
id be fine with shooting off the back and bombing
actual flying animals destroying big land based creatures is so bad
Hopefully nothing has the range to work while you’re flying
probably
Bombing would only be good really, using a flyer for guns to just find high spots i guess
@untold ingot you’re taking this one over
This isn’t WWE you don’t get to tag out
id be fine with a suicide creature tbh
The big issue with fliers that make them supremely broken is that they can pick you off of anything.
Because a flying catapult launching jars of pitch is cooler
They don't have to be able to kill your ride, just carry you far enough away that you can't get back easily
That should be compy’s kit
Wearable c4
Add that to cryos of being able to throw out any Dino, or army of dino, and it makes fliers literally the most overpowered dinos in the game lol
Without turret protection, a pt beats a giga 9/10 times
Add that to the fact that there are fliers that can literally carry someones entire base
Other than lightning and blood breath weapons are trivial lol
It's the picking that is overboard
ye ik
Flier weight need a drastic nerf, and cryos need to be removed, and picking should be very hard, of not impossible
just saying like compared to land stuff most flyers do hocus pocus stuff
why i want an giant falcon or legit bird of prey to be anti air to take out ppl being annoying
Whilst simultaneously being one of the hardest things to obtain
but yeah grabbing needs a tiny ass hitbox
falcon is prefered because instead of doing bleed and relying on grabs to do everything they punch instead. Sounds cool on paper idk
If it takes massive damage on collisions with the ground, sure
You do know falcons punch their prey right?
kinda
If there is a flier that can do massive damage to ground creatures without a counter, than it'll be no different than now
the only falcon punch we get is me using a glove made of falcon feathers
Yeah no thats dumb
i only suggest falcon because itd act as anti air
And i think most fliers should crash and die if they hard flop on the ground
But yes in general anti land flyers is ass
def! grounding is 100% real lol
ive seen bald eagles die instantly from a power dive into the ground. instant death every time
Yeah man I’m a falconer that’s a thing I know
What else would an ark falcon do then
I mean, in ark1 they carry your entire set of possessions, including dinos lol
If its super hard to use because your going so fast and your leg has a tiny hitbox i dont see an issue
Though id suggest instead of just raw damage it just knocked out fliers for a short duration
More or less subduing something that was too close to the ground
That comes to the point that if it is a point and aim, it's going to be trivial for most people lol
Maybe long charge up then
Having it knock things out would be too broken
not like a straight knock out
People have tons of hours with this function. Griffins already do dive bomb
More or less maybe sends you into free fall for some seconds and you can catch yourself
If ur too close to the ground is when it becomes very lethal
There is a reason why griffins aren't breed able lol
Hello guys
I think if its gimmick was to punish people flying too low itd be fine
While also being a general harrasser in the air
Fliers should be forced to rely on their mobility and flexibility when engaged with grounded creatures - they should be in strong disadvantage
It would be either too strong, or so weak that it wouldn't be worth doing
so more or less an animal you use if people can shoot/bomb off the back of other fliers
There should be NO viable air to ground combat options
I mean its weak but it cancels actions and disorients people in high altitudes
Air to ground vs a player or a raptor is fine, but weight and picking can't be a thing
can really only kill people that fly too low + would have to ambush them with a dive
And if you are seen people can fly up
True
im not sure how to balance picking without making people absolutely unable to do it on someone thats mounted
Tbf pterosaurs were anatomically incapable of picking up things with their feet. Or pteranodon at least
there should really only be one animal that could directly pick like ark one. And itd have to be slow as shit to compensate for it
By all means make it impossible to do
Sure
One flier that can reliably pick makes ground pvp impossible without turret coverage in ark1. It would be no different in ark 2
Yeah
other games use things like a button sequence UI that allows the player to defend themselves
id much prefer ppl relying on other harder things to knock ppl off stuff
Ark introduced that with the desmo and blood stalker, but it's not enough
Like microraptor
Quick time maybe
but only for bigger dinosaurs since i feel like stuff around thyla size could dodge possibly?
But then again doesnt work that well depending on how many ppl there are
then turn the tables and make the attacking flyer use a complex button sequence to grab lol
People will just make it a macro and it'll be useless anyway lol
i mean i guess whining about it could work too lol
idk need more animals that counter fliers…. Theres really like less than 5
If you can grab a flier itd destroy it so easily
Or just nerf fliers lol
Sure i guess less cool though
I hope thyla if it retains its grab thing will be more fluent/ not rely on a tree to do it
I am less worried about cool as I am about having viable ground options lol
I think flyers will always have a bullshit factor
Having to have turret cover to have ground pvp is dumb imo
Like if you could throw bombs? 50/50 chance itll utterly ruin bases
Indeed it is dumb
Is ark 2 gonna be on PlayStation? Because I just saw a post and lots of people were saying it’s Xbox exclusive
🍻
There is no confirmation that it will be, but the speculative hope is thst it'll be on ps a year after release
Ah good I hope that’s true because I don’t wanna buy an Xbox just to play the game
i do like tje concept of picking players, i just think it should be higher risk
someone on a giga should know fear
Concept is fine, but it's too broken
It need a nerf
Any flier being a hard counter for any ground creature is too much lol
have it so flyers have insanely reduced stam, or that picking takes like 80% stam
and total stam only allows flight for like 30 seconds to a minute
Flier Stam is like the only thing I think doesn't need a nerf lol
?
If there even are picks, fliers shouldn't be able to carry anything larger than like a Raptor
Should just make them slower if they pick
like… struggling to lift up stuff
It's picking people that is the problem
^
With a lvl 15 pt I can counter a giga, Stam is not an issue lol
Players at least have a few options to counter picking
Whips, Flamethrowers, Shotguns, Nets
stam is still an issue when that pt can stay flying for so long
esp while carrying someone else
weight and stam need to be nerfed
You don't have to fly for long. You just get them of their tame consistently and drop them until the die of fall damage
thats long enough for this
make it so ascension is nearly impossible while having someone picked
the kill option shouldve always been primarily barrel roll rather than dropping from a height
That'll still make fliers essential for any ground combat
itll make it so flyers prevent people on large dinos from being mostly unkillable
It is lol
It's broken atm lol
but the height thing is still the biggest issue imo
and stam
barrel roll + pick should be like 90% of stam
you physically cannot get far with that then
You are on your Rex, a pt picks you, his friend on his Rex now has a free Dino and player kill because you can't fight back
Even without height and Stam just the ability to stop players from doing anything is enough
its physically impossible to win 2v1 if the pt has more or less infinite opportunities to pick you
Make it a 10v10 then, 4 or 5 would have to be on fliers on each side. Thats a dumb ratio imo
make rexes able to ohk pts
thatd probably be a fair solution
have a tail swipe for people coming behind
it should be high risk high reward
That would make fliers useless. I don't want useless fliers, just nerfed lol
not useless if you have like 0.5 seconds to react
I want fliers to be mainly limited to scouting
thats unaffected here
Reaction time for a decent gamer is way less than 0.5 seconds lol
thats in normal to ideal conditions
like, this isnt supposed to be a fair fight to begin with
a 2v1 is always supposed to favor 2
🍿
its just to what extent
a rex is fighting another rex, theres trees, you wont always be able to block a pt
it doesnt even need to kill really, it could just do a 30 second stun
so the rex has to defend his friend as well as kill you if you succeed, and you have the ability to kill his friend too
Make it 2 ground players vs one ground and one flier then, the result will be the same, a free Dino and player kill immediately, followed by a second
not in the system i outlined
because theres a risk to the flyer
as it stands flyers have 0 risk
A one hit kill in any game is a broken mechanic
its a pt
these arent supposed to be high investment dinos
its asymmetric balance
a rex is far more valuable, so it should be harder to kill. A pt takes way less time, it should be easier to kill
rexes are made to be damage dealers and tanks, they should be able to take out small dinos fast
They aren't supposed to be worthless either. If it gets one tapped by everything it is useless. And what about high investment dinos?
its not like a 360 aoe ohko tho
Say a quetz, or similar?
Your counter of a Rex on a pt would only work in the case of pt on rex, and isn't really generalizable
i mention a tail swipe, and you can maybe have a bite grab, if the aoe is set up right thisll leave attacks from near the middle to above able to hit. The goal is to get the rex while hes not moving, so he cant move forwards or backwards and ohko
this works for any flyers really, but you can change stun time, and damage taken or just increase hp
A stun on a flier is the same as a 1hit kill
this can still work on a moving rex, but he can just juke and ohko
sure
what do you want a flyer to be able to do to a rex
bite it 300 times?
Remove picking as a mechanic mainly
its at the very least, an option
Pt vs Rex is not a fight that should be happening imo
if you reduce flyers to just being able to atk, then it will already lose to a rex, or be annoying
itll happen
The pt should just run away lol
itll run away only if its an ohko
if not, your other option is to give the pt 0 ways to affect a rex
If a person is good enough to melee attack in a pt vs Rex and win they should be able to, but it should be high skill and not reliable
what melee are you gonna use on a rex
Yes, because a crow has no affect on a lion 🙄
a crow annoys a lion over several minutes
this works because irl things dont like being pinched
Pt vs large Dino should not be viable
But it can't beat a lion in a fight
It runs away
