#ark-2

So never
I can't wait to get aimbotted by a windows player first match on
Me being schitzo is what will get the message across
Ark PC PvP; more cheaters than good players
A bottle of vodka
My friend joined a random lobby on mh rise and killed one thing and got set to hr 340 with all quests complete and full valstrax gear
Hi
Dying
Rawr
Dino
have they shown even a glimps of actual game play yet?
game play what is that lol
Noooope
i call it 🤣, but do not frail i can see 2 more dino pics this month maybe next week maybe after so y'all can chew until next month
it's only been 3 weeks since the last one, could be next week if they mean every 4 weeks with ''monthly''
there's only 2 more weeks this month ence why i said "maybe next week maybe after" 🤣
huh?
The CC mentions an ark franchise roadmap
''We're excited to announce that we'll reveal a development roadmap across all iterations of the ARK Franchise next month.'' oh damm
Ark 2 sooner ish? 👀
What it means is we can at least see what the heck is going on
They just said that?
Read the crunch 😂
i even put it in quotes
Then I started planning my next hunting trip
gameplay ain't that far off then
🙏
I skimmed it
Well we should at least have a ballpark for WHEN gameplay comes
bet gonna be announcing on the road map ark 2 gameplay and later on after release a "brand new dlc coming up for ark2" 🤣
Well next month is still a ways off and it's still a 30 day period
I'm thawing my window rn
last month has kinda flown by fast
Fair
I'm gonna be hunting for 80% of this month
Considering they said next official news would be 'gameplay'... and now the next official news is 'roadmap' next month... could be a lot to unravel.
or not, could be about the new creature plus ark 1 to UE5 🤣
Oh uh they said gameplay wouldn’t be next for a while lol. That’s why we got concept art
only reason they're sharing more is bc they kept hearing people ask for more reveals, otherwise it would've been silence until gameplay
Transparency is always good
the only time i'm somewhat thankful for the crying part of the community. more ark 2 stuff
Maybe, but I took it as they were not ready for an official news release so they leaked some concept art to hold us over. Now they are ready to reveal a lot more of what the next few years will look like. I think we will be pleasantly surprised with amount (Animated series, Ark1 to UE5, new dino, gameplay, future path, etc) but a bit disappointed with overall timeline.
Release date when
Gameplay when
Roadmap when 🍻
Lmfao
A development roadmap across all iterations of the ark franchise?
I hope this means we'll finally some news for ark mobile
Probably not tho
I think if someone told me ark 2 was mobile exclusive I’d transform into a salty ark general chatter
Do you Bobs not have phones??
I’m not playing ark on a phone. Horrendous gaming platform for that
Ark 2 will be a nintendo switch exclusive
Mobile is a different company.
Let’s keep this channel on topic please.
Hmm. Does grove street games not have a role in ark 2
I was under the impression that collaboration was being considered for other ark games like ark 2
Grovestreet games are co developing ark 2
Is there a factual and legit source of this?
Grovestreet did develop ark mobile but it's still owned by wildcard
Idk, that’s why I asked Lovely 😅
Grovestreet now doesn't care abt mobile they moved on to switch
Yea but grovestreet do there own thing basically with mobile
Wildcard don’t announce stuff happening with that
The community crunch where they revealed all the ark 2 gameplay information
Yeah, I thought everyone knew that Grove Street were helping on Ark 2
That was clearly stated a while back
It was kinda one of the first pieces of info we knew lol
I would say a roadmap is more important than a gameplay. It’s transparency 100%.
Nb4 Roadmap is just
Ark1 UE5: Soon™️
Ark Animated Series: Soon™️
Ark2: Soon™️
Yeah and it'll be at like end of the month 😂
Like....'he's not wrong'
"Just an update on Ark 2, we will be providing a further update on Ark 2 in the future."
and her a up date on the up date there no more up dates that is all i thank you 😂
ark development rode map, maaaan ark 2 isn’t coming out any time soon 😂😂😂😂
might be another way of smoothly saying on the roadmap ark 2 ea for 2024

Gives me time to finish my Ark remixes before Ark 2 comes out I guess, if it really does get pushed back significantly.
By roadmap, are they saying date?
Or at least month of release date?
when is release date?
I NEED ARK 2 😄
as screwdiesel said at the end of genesis 2 "it will only get worse"?
its really not. theyve always delayed their releases so dates are meaningless from wildcard. seeing gameplay however isnt meaningless
A roadmap could simply say a list of what’s planned with no hard dates, and THAT is Illuminating
It may show us a DLC timeline, an early access timeline, or even just a basic “what stuff are we seeing before ark 2”
well they said that genesis 2 was their last paid DLC irc.
i hope the bastion beetle wins the creature submission contest. btw, have there been other creatures that were inspired from the community ?
It lost lol
Anyways back to ARK 2
🍻
That dragonfly thingy won… the community is **** for that
i was hoping for beetle
*Ark 2 DLC
Its gotta be one of the fridays atleast
I'm quite excited for this roadmap, I bet it'll have a lot of upcoming projects including something about ARK 2 and the UE5 for ARK
they might fill it with dates of when to expect concept arts aswell
most certainly Ark 1, Ark 2 and the animated series, i expect animated series the most as Jeremy said we wouldn't have to wait too long into the year for it
not everything has been limited to just Fridays, the anky concept art was shown on a tuesday, and the steam page with all other stuff that day on a sunday. that's the only few examples i could really find, but most of the time it's during a crunch
As for the time of when this drops I'm not sure really, I thought maybe in a community crunch or maybe during the weekdays like you said
Yes ARK 2 especially needs to be addressed, overall wildcard have a lot of projects that NEEDS to be on this roadmaps and dates for them
the most consistent time to expect something is always in the crunches, but they can always just drop something out when we don't really expect it 😅
but I wouldn't expect exact dates maybe like: animated series season 1 spring, ARK 1 UE5 upgrade summer, animated series season 2 winter, something like this..
what it NEEDS and what you gonna get that aint up to you
Its not up to me of course, its what everyone here wants anyways
Wildcard sure have a track record of dropping unexpected news out of nowhere thats for sure 😂
and a track of putting dates just to delay over and over
roadmap is the best thing they've decided to do so we know when we expect news
Yeah.. well what can we do 😕
just be prepare for anything and always expect the worst that wait dosent bother you much when they fail... again
Is ark 2 more story based or more online multiplayer based? The trailer makes it seem nothing like the ark I know.
the cinematic trailer doesn't even indicate anything regarding gameplay, it's meant to introduce you to what ark 2 is gonna look like and the theme of the game (Primitive survival on a alien world). at most the story should normally be optional and at most like gen 2 during like world events and possible quests.
It's still gonna be a online multiplayer sandbox game like Ark 1 with both PvE and PvP. the same core design remains, while some new things are added and some mechanics are updated/upgraded.
Hooray
I hope more people read the steam page, as it's a good official source on what the gameplay will be like and what the new changes are gonna be, instead of these weird theories
I did but it wasn’t clear enough for me
the first cinematic trailers only kinda tell you ''primitive survival on a alien planet'', i get it can be a little confusing if that's the only thing you kinda see first. not as bad as some of the more ***extreme ***situations/theories we get here sometimes 😅
Part of wildcards description for ark 2. For those who have not yet read it.
“With Ark 2, we’re seeking not only to enhance the game’s narrative and world-building, but also retouch and improve on all aspects of what constitutes an Ark game.
Foremost among these redesigns are the core player mechanics. In the sequel, which is third-person only, controls and movement for both players and creatures have been completely redesigned. Taking inspiration from game systems like Assassin’s Creed’s automatic parkour and Breath of the Wild’s climbing, player characters can now clamber over the environment in a more realistic and freeform manner. With a focus on primitive-era combat (Santiago and Tek have a complicated relationship…), Ark 2 draws heavily from Souls-like action for its human-scale combat: an emphasis on dodges, blocks, light and heavy attacks, combos, and player-reflex skill — a rarity for the PvP survival genre. For creature-scale combat, suffice it to say for now that when you attack something with your T-Rex in Ark 2, the results are visceral: the animation of the attack actually hard-impacts on the target (not “passing through” it), the victim’s flesh is torn, and the target physically reacts at that location to the hit – all to convey the feeling of the raw power of such a ferocious creature!”
You can find this very easily if look for it. 😁
There is also a whole bit on the dynamic event system too. It’s all great sounding stuff. Pvp, story, skill based combat, Dino’s that don’t clip through everything when the attack.
Exactly what I’m looking forward too
Emphasis on the Pvp survival. Because so many people still think ark2 is all pve
Wait, Ark2 is gonna have PvP? /s
uhm yeah, even steam has it tagged with pvp so even the less intelligent can clearly see it /j
wonder if theyll cut down on lmb spam with creature combat to make the animation look better
i think they're gonna
i really hope they go further into the aesthetics
farming would be a lot nicer if it actually looked good
i like my rocks flying at 1000kmh when i harvest them
leave them be
Icarus farming in ark would be s tier imo
The average ARK player can’t read…-35 IQ bro…
wait is there only a pvp tag?
no pve?
You’re proving my point
Good on u lol
So when is it estimated to come out
🍻
maybe
did you care to check steam page before saying crap?
looking at the track record of many of the questions/theories about what the gameplay will be like in this chat, a lot of them only watch youtube videos that are in themselves wild theories (the steam page debunks almost all of them)
Will there be dinosaurs in this game like the last one?
Probably not really
It's all going to be mutant zombies in a turn based 4x set in the antarctic
Unironically sounds like a pretty pog game
Lol
People literally proving my point so nicely 😂
Even if my research wasn't peer reviewed you'd be hard pressed to prove me wrong
That was sarcasm too
.
Yes, that was hypothetical and/or sarcasm lol
This is the best game I’ve played in 2024 yet
hogwarts legacy runs in unreal engine 4. cant wait to see how unreal 5 will look like. however i have concerns about the performance
tbf it's not bad for a UE 4 game
given ARK (and ATLAS by extension) uses a modified earlier UE 4 engine
is wildcard gonna be making ark2 guys
my friend told me that im making ark2
My friend said we’re getting the game next week
WC, what did you do? You broke these people.
''We're excited to announce that we'll reveal a development roadmap across all iterations of the ARK Franchise next month.''
i wonder if we might still get something ark 2 related this month before they show the roadmap
they were already broken, they played Ark ☕
It was the element, my friend. They were good and intelligent people, but the element corruption happened.
can't wait for ''rockwell made the aratai'' to come back and give my brain severe dmg, even tho it's clear that they are the native humanoid species of Arat
Or Arat is just some form of Mega-Ark built by Homo Deus when they realized humanity is F'd, and better off returning to Unga Bunga life
I saw that aswell have a super hot take it’ll show the release date of UE5 and maybe ark 2
''We're excited to announce that we'll reveal a development roadmap across all iterations of the ARK Franchise next month.'' very likely ark 2 will also be there
also highly likely animated series news as jeremy said we wouldn't have to wait too much longer into the year for more news
where this from
tweet in the last couple days?
oh its in community things
march come already 🙏
yh one sentence from crunch
i feel like itll be vague, like itll only include the absolute earliest certain things will come out
and said times will be either by month or by quarter
such a dev roadmap seems really risky to post
unless they are really confident with the progress ark2 is going through
wonde3r where the animated tv series is
I just hope they delay ark 2 to get rid of the terrible third person idea....Really was hoping for ark 1 but improved in all aspects
likely not too far off as well, as jeremy did say we wouldn't have to wait long into the year for that as well
they already stated they won't, and that mods can bring it back. something built for third person only won't work well if you try to add a first person view as well. there are more benefits to third person you wouldn't even consider. some of the new and updated mechanics can only really work in third person
also @blissful perch 🍻
shifter, you ready to write down the advantages of third person of the top of your head?
- if he was in third person he could see the top of his head
Advantages of 3rd person: 1. Better field of view for combat against multiple enemies
2. Fov for free climbing and parkour.
3. Enables lock on combat style for soulslike/zeldalike combat.
4. I can't really think of anything else lol
They really just wanted to change the on-foot combat in ark 2, and 3rd person is necessary for the style they want to use.
Ngl it's my favorite combat style too. Horizon, dark souls, zelda, arkham batman, etc.
Yes 2. is the main reason why they went with this decision, I can't imagine a world where first-person and climbing & parkour work together it just.. doesn't
you cant actually know if you like or dislike third person without knowing how ark2 looks and plays like
like nobody would want third person in stuff like the isle i imagine
a lot of stuff you want, like peripheral vision, just doesnt work well with first person
and stuff like being able to catch stuff in the corner of your eye like you would if youre actually in the survival situation being described just doesnt work
so third person in a survival game might actually be more immersive than first
i spent like 30 seconds thinking about this dont bully me for it
The great cost of third-person only: Immersion
immersion isnt just not seeing your character
because fundementally you cannot perfectly mimic what existing in a place irl is like on a screen
unless its vr
you are far more limited in perspective in fp than tp
works for horror games generally
Maybe your right, we're just digging too deep into it but we haven't seen anything yet
it could be crazy or the opposite 🙂
the devs have a certain perspective on what they want their survival experience to be like
i think third person is likely a lot more cinematic
which might be what the devs want from ark2
a cinematic survival experience
Yes more cinematic I agree here 3rd person offers that, look at jedi survivor did feels like your in a movie
shh, most can't really read or think. we can't expect them to think rationally
so when you get into fights, you might be more captured by the overall fight itself looking great rather than the experience of being inside the fight
or god of war 2018 and ragnarok
I just hope the gameplay reveal won't break the ARK community and have it plunge into utter irreversable choas
i dont know why theyd choose this for survival since my own understanding of survival is at least somewhat mixed with horror, but i dont think the immersion part necessarily disappears due to perspective, unless you have a very specific idea of what ark should be like
Another goated example
in which case if it goes counter to what the devs think, then their design decisions may make the experience less immersive to you
but as it stands we arent the only audience, ark2 might be aiming to garner a new audience as well
i played the pc version, third person there feels really immersive, combat is also ''souls like'' inspired by Dark souls and i had a hell of a blast with it
i wouldnt blame the devs for wanting a new population of players either....
let's be honest, it's somewhat needed if you look at these chats
i dont really care about the silly questions though, its mainly the way we normalize fucking your life over for this game
Honestly ARK for me focuses more on sandbox than survival especially if you advance to endgame
keep the mentally insane to ark 1, and get a new following for ark 2
i dont know if the devs want that sorta playstyle anymore
maybe they wanted it at first, just as part of the freedom such a game as ark1 providees to everyone
or maybe they dont care about any of this at all which is most likely lol
yeah but when you play theres also what you feel during gameplay that affects this perspective irregardless if you have the freedom to create anything you want
and do wahtever you want alongside that
though a lot of the mechanics created in this game i think got heavily fucked over by how prevalent end game happened to be
everything that was designated early and mid game basically does not have use
that might be a large part of why devs dont care about the immersion you might get as a survivor bobbing around with the chance of dying at any moment to an unseen dino
cause that was never really what happened
what happened was everyone got on a wyvern and liked how the game looked aesthetically
everyone already spends most of their time in tp on a tame
and bases only really exist to hold stuff you need to go back to playing the game on your tame
, i think first person would only be useful if most people engaged with the early and mid game parts of ark1
ARK 1's "primitive" AI ruined the potential for great immersion for its 1st person gameplay lol
i mean sure but you also arent engaging with what first persons immersive qualities are
which is largely needing to be aware of your surroundings
imo
you literally do not need to care about your surroundings after maybe 1 week of playing, because by then you already have the dinos needed to shrug off any attakc+kit
but to have every dino to have a very smart AI could just obliterate your PC lol
except in pvp ig lol, but then your point isnt immersion, its competition and winning
in which case third person is just a straight upgrade to fov and fp is good for aiming
the ai is independent of perspective though
i will say that a dinosaur is a lot scarier on top of you when it takes up 90% of your screen vs 40%
(fp vs tp)
i guess the new ai will make up for the lost scare factor, with the smell, sound and sight based hunting. and not getting trapped as easily
i think fear will be more dependent on how things look
environment, sounds, creature models, and player death animations
Spikey
true lol
but we havent seen any aliens yet
their design patterns might be wildly different
besides aratai and leaf lizard
it has 4
like jaw parts not mouths
ye
that might be a pattern we may see with the aliens
i really hope theres a lot of aliens that we just havent seen cause spoilers and they exist in cool new biomes
as it stands it looks like there isnt a lot of aliens
@split dove what was the it's time for
for shifter to join extinction for once
My guess is that earth's life forms will be much more of the dominant and terrifying creatures in the early/mid game, whereas the creatures of Arat will be more strange and small to start, and then later/endgame we will get some awesome Arati creatures.
i hope its not stratified like that since then earth dinos will be mostly useless
i dont really want the whole early/mid/end game system tbf, though if it does exist, your conception of aliens being end game is likely
and it is likely to exist tbh
i cant imagine a way to make every dino viable for the whole game
unless they decide to limit how many dinos will be tameable in game
wonder if theyll make more dinos that cannot be tamed but only fought/farmed
I’m just curious on how big the map will be compared to ark 1 maps or if there’s a whole inner world area of the map
i think we can assume it will likely be gen 2 sized or bigger at launch
Ark 2 seems like trash ngl
I saw the gameplay
It’s not as immersive as 1
see, i told you the stereotype never lies
There is no gameplay, you are a troll
Well if u have friends at powerful places there is
you got friends at the mental hospital? 🤔
Funny
I would rather not share that information as it would put my friend at a tough Situation
pull the other one
Let me guess, you have an uncle who works at Nintendo too, and he told you that the next Switch game is going to be Mario + Rabbids: Excitebike Edition
Stampede will happen we know of, another thing I'd like to see is snow area severe blizzards and avalanches that you have to watch for. Full detail inside and out volcano that can erupt and pyroclastic rocks that can land an entire biome away.
Highland\desert biome get more than just wind but a randomly spawned tornado
Redwoods concept would require a changing moon, but a biome hazard could be maybe pack creatures become more aggressive during a full moon move faster and in a constant pack of 4+ dealing 3x damage than normal
werewolves....
Not fit for you ≠ trash
All of this is already implement on Ark 1, including avalanches (genesis 1). Maybe they just need to improve on that regard.
the isle...IS third person tho
that's a certainty. Expect nothing less
even attempts of communication drive this community into uncontrollable chaos. that's how the community reacts to everything
you've never been chased by Rajang. @wispy sierra knows that fear in third person is quite easily felt
agree that it's better if tames are split into NICHES rather than progression levels
I mean that is a fair take, if it were true
but my guess is many people saying "trash" are gonna either become die hard ark 2 fans or are going to be upset at any new product because they aren't at the top of the ark 1 food chain anymore and lost their progress
or just simple ''change bad, i won't buy it''
meant first person oops
in your rajang point, itd be a lot scarier in first person
since you have less information to work with in reduced fov
you say that, but I'm pretty piss scared of Rajang in third person
youd be shat scared in fp
in third person you can see that your death is gaining on you ☠️
well, there is maybe the advantage of tp allowing you to see something get closer and closer but then idk if that is fear specifically or excitement
although yes horror is always better in first imo
however, I think the ensuing combat and movement to try to evade said danger in ark 2 will make up for the lost immersion when we shift to third person from first
its probably yrue that the decision for tp was not made around something like immersion and was mainly for combat
first person probably wasnt deemed necessary for many reasons stated above
so its a pretty easy decision
to just not implement fp
despite me being "on the fence" against exclusively 3rd person (hell i play valheim and i didn't get immersed lol) ||and Vin Diesel|| i am still gonna buy ARK 2 because the RP scene in ARK is really really dead
it's either Red Dead, ATLAS, or GTA for the most part
Well third person is also mandatory for tame riding imo
unless you're a insane asylum inmate that always rides dinos in first person
or like close to half at least
the rest is just stuff that doesnt matter what perspective youre in
mounted weaponry go brr
asides the few moments youre shooting somrthing
90% of player hours spent in tp is my guess
since why go into fp in your goofy ahh crafting station
oh wait to better access shit
cause aiming up close in tp is weird
I wouldn’t mind FP on tames if you didn’t have your vision obscured by the rex head and saddle
esp with how they offcenter your character with weapons and cryos
though the offcenter is necessary tbf
It would be cool to have formal siege engine combat
Non shit catapults or protected towers to breach Aratai/player forts
the dream is fighting people on 100 structure brontos
like pirates
but dinosaurs
i never knew i wanted this till now
PotC3 At World's End maelstrom scene, but two Brontos circling eachother
like imagine paracer raiding parties tryna board a bronto platform
while trying to not get crushed
i do not know this
Lost oasis had a great idea. But man is this shit hard in practice
I almost wonder if that’s an eligible ark 2 DLC
was lost oasis the game with the mobile bases that chased each other
Two pirate ships fighting while being sucked down a whirlpool, lots of boarding, swinging between ships and general piratey nonsense
Also, a marriage, because reasons
the things were like big wooden quadripedal machines
sounds fun
but i want to upgrade this by replacing ships with dinos
Oh yeah, totally
The Dino’s need to be near immortal I think for it to work: but they do nearly 0 damage to anything mobile
i mean brontos should be hella beefy
im think like, its easier to disable than kill
maybe you need a very expensive rope system distributed across 4 smaller large dinos (like paracers) to disable
Near infinite damage resistance unless it’s by a “large beast killing tame” which would be slow and easily ripped up by smaller more mobile ones? I did suggest a similar idea
that coukd work
Siege Counter roles
Cool concept for sure…the point I think we agree is that the mobile creature bases don’t work or make sense if you can just gimp it by killing the bronto
trying to avoid getting stomped
i think mine works better for not gimping
unless rexes can die to 1 stomp
so you need to time and bait out attacks
i think isle does this right
Disabling may be good, maybe even require a disable to do meaningful damage
dont dino attacks esp from large dinos do insane damage, so smaller faster dinos need to dodge and bait to fight or just run
Disable reduces damage resist for a bit
That way the folks on the bronto have the ability to counter attack
More damage done means easier disables, Monster Hunter style
hmm
Maybe, though I’m again worried about disables being “locks”
I think chaining disables would be really shit. But disables imo should be (much like setting one up) an objective for the bronto’s crew to achieve by cutting lines or killing a creature that’s casting the rope
Maybe dealing damage (even if heavily resisted) opens up a disable opportunity
Disable reduces overall resistance for a bit, and starts a disable cooldown so they can't be chained
What’s the chat bout people tossing ideas here
I don’t mind the idea of setting up a trap or getting X “disable ropes” in position via tames and once complete you can disable
It’s about anything ark 2 (new ark game). Since news has been slim, we mostly talk about aspirations or game design ideas for ark 2
Ark2 and clinking
Cool pitching ideas love it lol
Booze and ark
Clinking only if someone asks about release date or clearly dumb rumors we’re all used to hearing once a week minimum
One a day is more accurate 😂
does ''third person and souls like combat'' also count for a clink?
It’s only a clink if someone says “is it third person only”
Honest questions about third person or souls combat gets a pass. I’m not a monster 😂
i just lumped them together as we commonly get questions about both of them
I mean if someone asks “souls like combat??” I’m down to clink
we almost had a 5 row bingo here with just one person earlier today
at least we got triple bingo
Aaaanyway. I wonder if what we were discussing about mobile bases and nomadic play is DLC worthy
Maybe DLCs can be 1.) ocean 2.) nomadic DLC across a scrubland/desert like SE
Are you the law enforcer around here? 🚔
no, you're his probation officer
That's a shame, I would tag you everytime anyone asked 💩
What’s a third DLC people would want?
A dedicated Aberration 2 😂
It would be cool to have a vertical heavy DLC/biome
Ark 2: tek is back guys!
Just trippy visuals and a really nice vertical cave system again and I'm sold
I deserve that answer but I beg WC no
I’d love to scale down a sunlit crater…maybe the area beneath that floating ring we saw in the trailer
That just gave me an idea, let me stew this one a bit
Depends a ton on the scale of the ark 2 map(s) tho. Maybe what I’m looking for is a singular biome
No you arent
Hmm maybe I do probation for others 😂
I will say I’d love DLCs (if they’re maps like ark 1) to sort of render other maps’s creatures useless
For example an ocean DLC would make most of the tames from a land based ark 2 map kinda uslesss…or a nomadic tames scrubland where small tames won’t get you far so you need to rely on tamed titan sized creatures to survive and thrive
it might be nice to add a large number of player interests in game without having those interests compete
but it does mean that a lot of maps will just not be fun to some players
though as it stands the goal is to make all maps fun, so this shouldnt be much of an issue
most people arent playing sandbox games for 1 mechanic
balance should be much easier too
since you are only dealing with 1 maps worth of creatures
instead of 5
ima say one thing. 1st AND 3rd person ark 2 :)
It's only 3rd, but can have a 1st person mod.
I like the idea of a verticality scaled biome.
Make it the size of ab, and stick it in a map 12x gen2 size
Are you trying to torture people?
How would a nomadic map work without being dogshit
you could make do with just 3 or 4 massive maps tbh
you just make it good

Yea the main mechanics being so different means it’s kinda like a fresh slate with the same general mechanics of ark 2
How so
Ark 2 and fast and furious release same day ???????
idk
are any of the devs on rn?
why
how
When
Who
It wouldnt work with ark1 metas. But there is a possibility that a good nomadic pve could work well.
most players would want to have a base
having somewhere to return to and show off all that you have done is kinda how these games work
Mobile bases are possible in ark1(at least in pve at small scale) there is a chance that with the right mechanics they are even more possible in ark2
really small scale...especially since weight of storage units is now added to the tame
back when you could store infinite stuff on the back of a bronto, nomadic play was possible in pve...but now it's mostly a tiny scale meme
Yep. Although the biggest issue with weight comes because anything in ark takes a stupid amount of resources to do. If the number cost of items is less, then weight will be less, making it more possible
depends greatly on how much defenses weigh (not just the mats needed to craft something)
tbh weight should be 0 on nomadic tames
when will ark 2 realease?
Weight should always be a thing. And it's impact should be a bigger issue in ark2 than it was in ark2
nomadic tames really shouldn't behave like other tames. They should ride the line between creature and structure
Weight should be a thing for them though
Why? They’re already intensely constrained by their limited size
Because then it makes it too easy to carry a ridiculous amount of gear
It adds the same issue as tek gauntlets
I see that as a non issue
Instead of no weight, just use more tames and have better follow ai
Make them slow enough to be impractical as a normal material transport, or if base counts are limited that would also work
Do we know how long exactly has Ark 2 been in development for?
No, and we’ll likely never know
Any guess
Mobile bases should be less practical than stationary bases, because they can move lol. It makes them inherently more powerful
At least since 2020
They are also vastly constrained by size and are conspicuous, which makes them inherently way less powerful
It’s a clown take to say a nomadic base is going to be as strong as a fortified stationary base. There’s just less space to build on
If you have no weight limit they aren't practically constrained by size lol. Just put 12 vaults
That’s a massive constraint compared to the dozens you can put in any ark 1 stationary base
It'll be stronger than most fobs lol
Wasn't it anounced 2020? Maybe since 2019?
Yeah, that's why I say at least 2020
they need to update mobile
Mobile has essentially nothing to do with ark 2. Think of them as separate products
Mobile is not wildcard, nor is it ark2
I read ark 2 was to release in 2021 and it moved I think they have a better idea now since the made the deal with xbox
I'd say May
Ark2 was always announced to release in 2022, they never said 2021
It's only been moved back once

ark my favorite all time game'
I see so much vastness of things that can be done with Unreal 5 Is mind blowing. I watched a whole 20m of a fan remake of zelda today and another one of Venom/ star wars. Looks mind blowing
😆
It's a pretty massive leap. They used a lot more advanced math in coding it up lol
teaserplay?
It's gonna be twice now most likely💀
It's only February lol
Seeing what they are doing with ARK 1 makes me think otherwise.
Now that it's confirmed that the creature submission was for ARK 1 only makes it more likely that it's delayed
- UE5 + events kinda coming back
cant wait to fight the dodogiga
Hopefully that will be cleared up next month if they provide a worthy roadmap.
Yeah hopefully the roadmap gives us something we been looking for but it will also be a way to sneak in a delay or that
I don't think the GPUs today are in par with what unreal 5 has to offer. The matrix gameplay thing the rtx 4090 runs it at like 50 fps maxed settings
At 4k 😆
Any date for that road map news?
Sometime in March, hopefully before late-march
you underestimate space efficient building
at least assuming this is just comparing bases that relatively few people will use
<=4
the main issue with mobile bases in this circumstance is usually certain structures just not being allowed rather than the structure cap itself
rafts are a kinda ok example of this
ive played in tribes where 10 people survived off 1 raft (not pc tho)
the weight limit should be extended for such creatures imo but infinite weight seems like it can cause issues
or just make the game not take so many resources to survive such that you, for instance, cant just survive for a couple days off 300 weight worth of stuff
this seems more important across pvp and pve tho
pve, i dont think it matters, weight locks just increase useless travel time (back and forth across same path)
I think what I underestimate is that said efficient building would make nomadic bases OP. I’m not so convinced it’ll be as strong as a base built with the same efficiencies but larger and/or more hidden
op may be a stretch yeah
id say problematic, since if it had infinite weight it can more or less indefinitely sustain a defense
not that the defense couldnt just be forcible destroyed
material caps dont usually determine fights i think
It would have the same sustain as a stationary base, but would have less space and thus be limited in that way. And it’s out in the open on an easy to see creature so you’re likely to get attacked more
I concede the way ark 2 PvP actually plays matters a ton
The only issue I see with an easier way to play with a smaller requirement of resources is that also will help put the Alpha of the server where they need to be faster.
A large number of players will always outpace a smaller number: kind of a dead argument
alphas will already have access to tames allowing high speed
cause they have access to all playstyles as alpha
Alpha isn't always number based, I've seen the Alpha tribe be run by one person before.
Is the server completely dead?
but, they do not have the ability to just start over again every time
No, it was on official.
A populated official PvP server with a 1 man alpha?
Lol
sounds about as likely as the chances of me becoming a millionair
Or a really good cheater.
Thank you for sanity checking me lol. I was about to question everything
Even Vindiago needs his family to be alpha
Vindiago is the planner/leader, and the others are breeders and resource farmers
*kit farmer. But I’m sure he’s got homies at base gathering mats for him
he's raising his daughter to be a insider
I know it won't but it would have been amazing if ark 2 creatures had procedural animation
You say that but I’m not sure it would be good
In a game where hit and hurt boxes are extremely important you kinda want to know what sort of movement is going to happen…procedural animation works great for immersion but imo in any context where your character control is really important that animation style becomes a drawback
Where did they say this though?
In the last community crunch
next month they said
Community crunch 348?
Not to mention its incredibly hard to code
I meant the procedural animation mainly for the creatures but yeah
The last one, not sure about it’s number.
I hope they focus on performance this time. Anything not so important (like animations) shouldn’t be implemented.
Procedural animation seems like a very resource intensive animation style to have on every Dino in the game
They need to cut back on excessive resource draw in general, not add to it lol
Ue5 is already going to be tough to make work on everyones machines
People think UE5 is the holy grail, but it has it’s constrains. If Wildcard doesn’t pay attention to performance, Ark will perform as bad as Ark 1 (with better graphics of course).
It kind of is a holy grail of sorts, but it requires much more attention to detail and performance checks than Ue5 did
Most of the performance problems come from lumen though. Maybe there will be a way ingame to turn thst off 😅
I mean, some people think their gtx 1650 will run Ark 2 @ Ultra 4k 60fps just because unreal engine 5. 😂
I mean, they will be lucky to hit the fps numbers they get in ark1 really
That’s my point. The engine performs better, but Wc will use this performance improvement on new features and better graphics.
I just want them to take care of cpu bottleneck scenarios.
Like massive bases with hundreds of Dinos
If they find a way so we won’t see fps tanking on this scenario, I will be happy.
Yep, it will make official basically unplayable again lol. Although, even if Ue5 lived up to people's expectations, they would still find a way to drop fps to single digits in bases lol
RIP old gen consoles
It is possible that if the dinos don't inherently react with lumen that nanite could find a way to make things load better
I mean, if you still use an old Gen console, work on getting a new gen one. That's just how console works
With enough determination you can do it
Thankfully I have a new one, thank god ARK 2 won't be on old gen consoles
the less platforms the easier to roll updates
I mean, I was a 1 man alpha on 1x for about a month or so
Hopefully most of the main code base is cross-platform with minimal changes needed to update per.
But that won't really impact performance, it'll just delay updates if they don't do that
You can do the bases maintenance this way, but as soon the enemies know that, you would be done.
Yeah, it takes some really really efficient farming for weeks with no one finding you to make it work
You really have to nolife it, but it's possible
Man, Ark official drains players lifes. I really hope they found a way to make it less demanding.
By less demanding I mean we can take some time away without losing it all
You can't really for pvp, without limiting the playtime per day by force
Maybe safe zones (pve) would help
A zone you can at least save some stuff on the cloud (limited amount, of course)
Not really, as long as pvp is based on battles of attrition, the no life wins 9/10 times
I know, I just want a way to keep it safe the most important stuff, when you need to take some time away.
Like a safe house where you are able to upload a certain number of items to the cloud
I mean, if playstyle changes dramatically, and becomes more like rust or tarkov that could work a bit maybe
But personally, since I have left official pvp I am more concerned that the pve is hard lol
I don’t like any of those 🤣
Maybe just keep it the same way then
Well, there are certain elements in both that make it so you don't have to constantly be on like ark1
The only other way to play that doesn't require loads of hours per day is to join a big tribe.
I left official pvp before extinction, then I kept playing on unnofficial pvp servers and since 2020 I’m exclusively playing unnofficial pve severs. But I would like to play official pvp again.
But I don’t intend to dedicate as much time as I did back in 2015-2018
Yeah, it'll be rough though. Right on launch it'll be the same crowd as ark1, in the same groups. Without some significant changes to gameplay it'll end up the same
In all likelihood Ark 2 will launch as well as Atlas, you're delusional if you think otherwise.
Going off their track record yeah, but im on a shit ton of copium/hopium
"roadmap.png
We're excited to announce that we'll reveal a development roadmap across all iterations of the ARK Franchise next month. "
So depressing. How hard is it to say the word ARK 2
That's the most intentional confusing announcement I ever read
😆
The roadmap:
Sotf features coming soon
Ark 2 coming soon
Ark animated coming soon
Prepare for my drug induced rant when that drops
How is it confusing? It's a roadmap for the entire ARK franchise, not just ARK 2.
''a development roadmap across all iterations of the ARK Franchise next month'' kinda obvious it isn't only ark 2, as it will likely contain for Ark 1 on UE5, the animated series, Ark 2 itself and maybe Sotf
The entire ark franchise. U mean the already almost over ark 1
😄
And the anime series xd
How do we fastforward this
don't give a shit about the weeks and it will feel faster
ARK 1 (there's more to come), ARK 2, Animated, tSotF.
I’ll be dead by then
I don't want more to come for ark 1 the game should already be over as buggy as it is. Slapping unreal 5 on it will make it even laggier
Alr under so much stress rn
Trust my words
I gave my exam submitted by script and literally lost the fucking question paper
It’s tough
Atleast I’ll get to see some ARK II news before I go
Xd Xd
I trust your words as much as I trust a Wildcard release date. 🤣
It's just common sense. An already super laggy game with a bunch of bugs slapping unreal 5 on top of that. If you were getting 50 fps now u gonna get 25
😆😆😆
Don't worry you will have time to retake the class, graduate, get a job, and retire before ark 2 comes out
This is a great example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. Trust my words.
Already did all this and still not out
Had a kid and everything
Ark 2 not out yet Xd
I will become president before ark 2 drops
by the time ark 2 drops presidents will no longer be politically accepted
sow will this rod map for ark ark anime and ark 2 next month help us to no more on ark 2 or will it be no good
''a development roadmap across all iterations of the ARK Franchise next month'' kinda obvious it will include not only ark 2, it will likely also contain news for Ark 1 on UE5, the animated series, Ark 2 itself and maybe Sotf
but will we get the new we need on ark 2 or will they still give us smile news on it
very likely to be the news we need leading up to the gameplay trailer with a rough date down the road
i see hop we get big new on ark 2 in it ty
🤨
Yeah, but I feel like roadmaps are for games that release with no content and devs do it to appease a pissed off fanbase. Also what is there to roadmap for ARK 1, I thought besides UE5 and the new creature we were done with that? And what are they going to roadmap for ark 2? The release date lol?
Well people rightfully thought ARK 1 was done... until they announced UE5 and a new creature, so not sure why people would still think ARK 1 would be done after that. As for a roadmap for ARK 2, i guess they could talk about what their plans are for the gameplay reveals and the games release. But yeah difficult to get a grasp of what else they would actually mention in a roadmap for ARK 2.
call it sucking down pure copium but hopefully ark 1 roadmap is just to let the die hard fans know the game will receive little updates and what have you to keep them happy and not sit there saying they dont care about ark 1 community blah blah blah then onto hopefully bigger and better things and less secrets cause right now its like trying to decipher the da vinci code when anything ark 2 related is brought up
Hope they fix grappling hooks because they are buggy as he'll and kinda break physics
In ark 2 I imagine a rope with a hook at the end of it to help traverse mountain areas in place of grappling hooks
I hope it has physics akin to Atlas, then just reeling you in
Could you imagine if they put "Official Server Wipe" on ark 1's roadmap the chaos it would cause 😂
Roadmaps are to increase transparency and level expectations. There’s not much more to them
any1 know release date for ark 2
show your new game shifter is call looking for ark 2 news game one of 1 lol
still just 2023
🍻
The roadmap can be super basic and just show an ark 2 release date…OR it can show other elements such as gameplay trailer dates perhaps a plan for content releases during early access, etc. Roadmaps vary wildly in detail
imo i think it's gonna be option number 2, if we're still getting more concepts before the gameplay after the roadmap is revealed. i think the first thing will be concept and tdibit dates, then the gameplay with a possible release date/period in the trailer
It boils down to what WC knows about their own planning and what they want to share
guess we will see next month, kinda hoping we're still getting some tease this month
I’d rather see fewer items and more dates but that’s wishful thinking
to each their own, i'd be fine with something this month and some general timeframes for other stuff like gameplay, etc with the roadmap reveal
Dates > Everything else
That's the reason I liked they decided to publish their roadmap
Dates that aren’t met are worthless
So if they don’t have dates they can reliably meet I’d rather see more of their plans (IE longer term goals and whatnot)
Well, there are trailers that aren't met too
😂
That's part of the roadmap, let me rephrase it Roadmap > Everything else
at least we will know what to expect and when
Ah yes then
Now they didn’t say when we’d get that..,but in the next couple of weeks would be very cash money
Maybe in the long awaited gameplay trailer we can see a new alien 👀
I would much rather see what is planned than see a release date. The game industry in general is very bad with hitting dates, so I feel like it's not as important lol
Software development is really hard to estimate.
I've worked on countless projects and no matter what method of estimation is used it never pans out.
But they jumped the gun I think in letting us know about the project.
Yeah, you can't really time software, because there could be any number of complications that you don't know about before
99 little bugs in the code, 99 little bugs, take one down, pass it around, 112 little bugs in the code...
Will ark 2 be available on Ps4
Nope. If it does come to PS, it'll be next gen only.
Damn that’s frustrating so I have to buy an Xbox or a pc
If you want it at launch, yes. Gamepass on Microsoft (next gen or the pc version) or Steam.
Or wait a year and maybe they'll open it up
Damn
I don’t even have a valentine 💀
Im your valentine
No. I have chosen this life of singleplayer
Just hope its gamepass
Im with you bro
'I'm not lonely, I'm playing Singleplayer'
Thats my new excuse explanation 😂
I am not lonely
I have AI for friends
I know I'm going to try and imprison an Aratai for company in ark two.
3284
ark 2 is coming out tomorrow i dont know what yall are smoking
it already came out actually, but wc doesnt want to tell us
sigma balls
funny
It will come out on pc right?
Ark 2 has been finished for months. Snail Games just wants a head start before they release it to the public.
So it’s coming this year?!!!??
Also it gonna be on pc?
It will be on PC and as far as we know it will be 2023. Hopefully a road map soon. As for my first comment I was just talking shut.
Pc and Xbox series x/s timed launch exclusive. Playstation will likely get it later due to Sony not liking early access games on their platform and the timed exclusive deal with microsoft and Xbox.
As Paddy said we might know more about a date for the gameplay trailer and early access release with the roadmap that's being shared next month
Damn, imagine talking shut
I gotta wait till atleast 2024 to get it because of that stupid deal they made with Xbox 😡
sony is also partly to blame for them only allowing early access games up to a certain time period (2 years i think). we and the devs won't really know how long it will take for Ark 2 to get out of early access, even on Ark 1 it was like this without a timed exclusivity deal, with Playstation launch being closer to ark 1's launch out of early access
Will ark 2 be available in PC4?
What
No, nor will it ever be on ps4, if/when it comes to playstation it will only be PS5. we and the devs realised that the ps4 and older consoles will hold Ark 2 back and make it worse than if it's just pc and next gen consoles only. (it's time to move on from previous gen consoles so the game industry can move forward and advance)
🍻
He’s asking about pc4, I’m still using a pc1. I hope pc1 will be compatible.
they haven't even announced the pc2 yet, i'm scared i will be dead before the pc3 drops
I hope the pc4 can run Ark 1 @ 1080p 60fps
Ark 1 in UE8? 🍺
on the pc4?
You guys are mad
Clearly there will be ark 2 on UE14 for the Xbox series 廢話
It's gonna be 16k 400 fps
ue 5
It is kinda crazy how far games have come in the past 30 years or so
You mean from pong to ark?
Not just Ark, but like full 3d environments, lighting and shaders, ect
It’s been a ride for sure. Ofc there’s the looks side and there’s the function side
Usually function has been way ahead of looks but now im starting to think it’s the other way around. You can make beautiful settings and animations but there’s a lot of games that haven’t figured out how to make them come alive through functional gameplay
How do we make ark great
we get rid of stat mutations
no sir
It’s not like you haven’t read my messages here
I’ve been pretty open about my thinking about ark’s design
Best crowd to pitch that to is the people not playing ark 1 after seven years looking for “more to do” 😂
Do it again
Not much
But that takes effort
Somthing you've never experienced
i still remember playing whit little squares and having a blast back then 🤣
More drugs
Finally, a likeminded person
Ketamine in ark when?
I prefer cocaine, but I'll make it happen
We want drugs! (As stupid as I sound rn)
🏃♂️ 🚓 🚓 👮♂️
I can just imagine rex's running away from a drugged out beach bob just frothing at the mouth
Ok but that’s just normal ark players
Average ark youtuber "beating ark scorched earth with nothing but a slingshot"
Unless you think those tintoberries aren’t drug free 👀
Something has to be enabling 300% movement speed is all I’m sayin
Im just saying there is something in the mejoberries that make herbivores like them more
I could solo the overseer on cocaine
One cracked out deinonychus taking on alpha dragon
In ark 2 the only difference is that the Dino’s won’t be born yoked up
You gotta administer the drugs directly
Hopefully more immersive taming, last time i knocked out a random dog and shoved treats up its ass it didn't like me so much
Blood extraction syringes have a new use
who here thinks itll come out in 2024
its coming out on family day
Family guy confirmed for ark 2?
''Peter, the Aratai are here''
We feed Meg to the aratai
-Fights giant chicken for half the episode, for no reason-
You used the wrong kibble
Ernie has its reasons
Noted, I'll try again shortly
That's the only enjoyable part of the show
I've only seen like 5 episodes and that happened in two of them 🤷
Good to know nothing good was missed 😂
get rid of dragon neck teeth
Dragon neck teeth?
there is a bunch of teeth growing out of the top of the dragons neck. unlike the sarco they still haven't been fixed in the main game
Oh, the boss model, gotcha. Yeah, a few creatures have some oddities, like Yuty's double teeth
Gotcha??!?! Guys gachas confirmed for ark 2!!?!?!?!?!
Confirmed! New leak details emerge!
Like, comment, subscribe for more bleeding edge Ark2 updates!
Where do u see this
🤣
There was a leaked screenshot posted, but deleted super quick
But don't worry, I'm working on a 40 minute YouTube breakdown on how this'll change Ark2 forever
I'm not opposed to having Gachas return it was one of my favorite ways to see what equipment they would drop off their back when feeding them higher end food
It's not real.
Assumed so
It would be so cool, to have ARK 2 release in June! (perfect timing, it is the moment of the year where I should have the most free time)
What would be your "perfect timing"?
Right now
Not june
Maybey like octoberish
There is no perfect timing for me 😂
But I actually do things with my life during the summer, so definently not then
Fall is by far the best time to release any type of game
september till october is always stacked with bangers
but I don't think wildcard really cares for these release dates as a marketing thing its more of when the game is ready it'll release, even if its the worst time to release it
for example big titles avoid other big titles releasing in the same time, I could see ARK 2 releasing around the release of another AAA game and not be affected
Then there's Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing
Keep in mind that nothing is really 100% finished, 100% perfect, bug free, feature complete or whatever.
They're planning to release it as "Early Access", so that by itself means "it's not ready", so it's still marketing to decide the date of release.
I have some hope that the game currently is already "playable" in a way that most basic things are already implemented.
They still don't want to release as they might change the gameplay drastically day to day, they're still exploring I guess, that's probably why we're not getting a gameplay trailer.
This is what I want all game companies to do
deciding when the game is "ready" is already marketing.
such a thing does not exist
A coherent and aware comment 👀. Welcome to the chat
I could care less about hearing a release date until it it 100%, they could wait until the month before to give a release day.
The only thing I think should happen on reveals is screenshots, gameplay, etc. Release dates should not be given until there is 100% certainty that going to be the date
Yeah agree.
If they give a date, it must be respected, no delay or whatever. 👍
I don’t want to see gameplay until it’s out of flux state and has been tested and approved by WC. I pray they don’t rush it
If the date never given, then a delay technically never has to happen, they just work on it until they know it ready
I’m playing path of titans in the mean time to get my dinosaur fix, but I can’t wait for ark 2 I know the devs are putting their heart and soul in it ❤️ at least I hope
Gameplay is an important part of development cause it gives people something to look at and review as the public and developers can find out issues they may otherwise never see.
A reveal is the wrong place to do it
As soon as it’s revealed, expectations are set by the consumers (us)
You QC this stuff internally and privately as much as you can, then release a stable product you intend to improve upon after getting community feedback in early access. It’s always more rocky to make wild changes to the basic gameplay (sometimes it’s required) after people have an idea and expectation for what a game is
That a consumer issue, and I'll use @lime flicker post as a perfect example. Path of Titans shows off everything prior to release and it is really helping shape that game.
Actually it the logic of only seeing gameplay footage as a "reveal" you have specified is the problem with how people think about game play footage. They only see it as a reveal not an opportunity to critic and report back to the developers.
Gameplay is basically an unofficial testing phase.
Path of titans already exists, so showcasing new additions to existing gameplay is a safe bet
Gameplay trailers as unofficial testing for an unknown and unplayed game is clown technology. You can arm chair critique something for ages and it have low relevance to how actual gameplay looks and feels
It’s useful to gauge general interest and knee jerk reactions for marketing and the like, but it’s not going to provide any relevant feedback on actual mechanics
Gameplay footage is no different than Chefs working on new dishes and setting up a taste test for people to try what they are coming up with.
Game play footage is where you have an opportunity to look at a game especially one that a sequel so anyone who played the first can look specifically for certain things they see that were an issue in the previous game.
If you want an example that not out already I'll use WWE 2K23, when 2K did their invite out to early build play and it was allowed to be streamed with restriction of not showing the menu of the game. I noticed a few things as a few other people I know noticed stuff I didn't and we all went to 2K's forum/support to make it known as probably did the Youtubers that were invited out to play were able to talk directly with 2K employees
So saying using game footage as PR is clown technology just sounds ignorant as all hell, but I'll stop here before we get to far
Yes, Ark 2 will have cross platform modding
It is
Well we won't know when PS will get it. The original release is going to be a timed exclusive for PC and Xbox
We don't know
i hope it doesn't tbh, less platforms is my go to besides pc and xbox/ps
We know almost nothing about the game.
PC Part Picker is a good place to look at building one
I think they ship out globally, PC Part Picker uses multiple retailers to find the cheapest of a specific product. It not a store in it self as much as it is an entity to finds stores that sell PC parts. I could be wrong as I don't know if it works for you

Kinda doubt Ark2 will be on Switch
i hope it isn't held back by weaker tech/consoles tbh
I could see it being similar to how they did it for Ark 1, they only get the base map. Switch only recently got more than The Island
But I wouldn't hold my breath since Ark 2 is being built to be released in a timed exclusive for PC and Xbox Series X/S because switch definitely doesn't have the capability to keep up with the X/S lol
Am I better at Texas holdem then an aratai?
Texas Hold'em is my game
Are you better than an aratai
I might catch flak for this, but who aratai?
-__- seriously?
...the npc orc looking mfs in ark 2
Ah
Will you beat an aratai at Texas holdem
i will beat an aratai with fisticuffs until it runs away in shame
🤷♂️
They are hellmuth difficulty
even better
What?
the bigger the challenge, the bigger the humiliation they receive when i beat them with fisticuffs
Hellmuth would be easy difficulty
Unless tek fisticuffs no
You are playing and whoever wins gets to own the planet
we need ark 2 we need ark 2 Flobs go hunt us a ark 2 bring it to us all lol hi

what i mean is ark 2 is a rare dinosaur that only flobs can hunt it down bring it to us
expect me to have some possible result next month
i hop we see a game play for ark 2 or a date and time for ark 2 game play or a date for ark 2 ether or
i think at best we get a timeframe for the gameplay wich may have ''this period'' as a release window message at the end
could also be way wrong, but we won't know until the roadmap arrives
well we all no that when ark 2 date for it to com out is shown to us the game will be com out for Pre order that is way there are no date for some game that are coming out
Thank you for proving my point. Early gameplay works if people can play the game
i am still whating on the new dance is call it time to get shifter lol i joke
🚔
🏃♂️ 🚓
i see you are all doing the shitfter dance all ready lol
no, that's the lotus exercise
lol
I can’t imagine a world where any meaningful mechanical feedback is acquired from a gameplay trailer though. Given it seems you agree that’s a good sign. I hope WC instead is able to show off some of the more controversial changes between ark 1 and 2 and get a litmus test of how the community likes the broader changes
her a thing what if the delay of the game cming out what them puting First-person back in to the game that what i hop it was if not a lest tell us what want wrong for them to delay it if they do it a gen game that is
Third person only was mentioned the same day as the delay, so that isn't why they delayed, everything from the steam page was revealed the same day as the delay. i think it was to take full advantage of UE5 and polish it up better i think
Or add more content/detail
got in
yh, i think that aswell so the launch has more content, is better polished and can take more advantage of UE5
i guess we might know more next month
Fingers crossed
Hope they used tools from 5.1 as that allows for nantites to render in much more detail of far away sprites and requires alot less processing power
not entirely sure, but i think someone asked Cudacores if they're using 5.1 and he responded with ''yes'' on one of his twitter posts
Oh nice
he doesn't post that much, so shouldn't be that hard to track down
found it
-Does it use unreal 5.1? You can answer by just liking?
-Cuda: It does indeed
From this tweet:
''It pains me to see my peers posting so many cool videos and images of the stuff they are working on with cinematics, #UnrealEngine5, and new mocap technologies... unfortunately I can't post the things I am working on, but rest assured ARK2''
you no flobs we all no game tack long to be made and that the same for up date to games to but some players are just do not think how hard it tack to make a game from the first part to the end game but we the players waiting on ark 2 no how hard it it waiting to get new on games
Rest assured ark 2
Rust ensured Ark2? Could competing franchises work together for a better game tomorrow Soon™️?
i will gladly pay you Tuesday for ark 2 to day
lol
Honestly hope the structure mechanics on servers will be like that of rusts because otherwise you just have empty structures blocking people's way and it's stupid, ugly - ruins scenery with the absurd amount of structures, and just annoying because of resources not spawning around them and that there are so many.
Actually being able to rebuild, repurpose and live in abandoned buildings would be nice
On the one hand that’s not bad but on the other I’m guessing it’ll be an issue to need to manually clear out every single structure piece in some cases
He means like a tool cupboard, a structure you put mats into to maintain your structures and/or claim on the land
Which we've discussed at length lol
This would help reduce mass land grabbing too, so I'd be all for that
A decay tc system would be awesome, if big tribes want to build a million turret towers and a huge base they would actually have to maintain them lol. Gas and element is easy to farm
Rust is literally a empty base wasteland
The bases decay, so uh, no, it literally isn't lmao
3rd person only? Oh😕
Today i went in ark server for the 1st time, to check it out. It was one old pve server and damn i couldnt place anywhere cuz ppl placed stuff there on purpose
I am betting it was official lol
Correct. Ping was a bit bad cuz it was delaying a lot and around 40k days old i think
I mean in game probably
Yeah, you have to really pick official pve servers well. Kind of shop around lol. There is a lot of people. That play on them, so a lot of ground is covered
I used to play servers before, but only those that i made myself for my friends and me and occasionally some random people that joined. It was pretty fun. Gave away sarco lvl 450 to some random dude who joined and he was really happy. Also that was the day that i learned.... Dinos above lvl 450 will just despawn, happened to the griffin. Not sure how i got him that high but it was on phone with god console and those premium taming items xD
Oh and on server today, well one guy had huge base and i got in somehow, but eh i mean nice tames but really all i was looking for was some place to build hahah
How about you guys start ark when you finish ark 1
Cant even keep your servers up
Good job fucking wildcard
🤦🏻
yh, some of the new and updated mechanics wouldn't really work that well in first person. like souls like combat and the new player traversal systems. we already play a lot of time in third person on dinos. imo Third person is fine as long as the camera view is good.
Don't really get why people say it's gonna be bad without any gameplay yet, as that should be the main proof on what it will look like.
First person view was never what ark 1 was about, the core of Ark was always Survival, exploring and fighting dinosaurs/other extinct creatures and alien esc beings
Dont get me wrong but its nice to have more options. I agree on 3rd person view when it comes to dinos, especially flying ones. But its just completely different experience on foot in 1st person, idk if its just me but i do pay attention to those kind of details. I used to play fair share of 3rd person games and a lot of 1st person games, tho sometimes little things give me anxiety for no real reason 😅
And also that thing when you get used to something and you just cant imagine it any different. I cant imagine ac series in 1st person at all, but at same time 1st person in ark just seems the way to go in my option😅
for Ark 1 the player third person isn't really the best as it wasn't the focused view for players. so we can't imagine Ark 1 as fully third person, but Ark 2 could be better or slightly worse. even if we don't really like it we will likely get used to it in Ark 2 anyway 😅
Yea best not to make assumptions and predictions based on just imagination. Lets wait and see. I just hope we will have same freedom as we have in ark 1 where we can do whatever we want and its open world and all that
yh, best to wait and see what it will look like in gameplay. it's still gonna be a multiplayer sandbox survival game like ark 1 just with some updated and new mechanics 😉
Multiplayer only?😅
that's just one of the tags from the steam page, might have singleplayer as well
I really hope so. Or at least to make a private session or something like that
server hosting will likely still be a thing, as i'm gonna rent a private server to play with friends
Same, probably tomorrow. Tho if i am on steam and my friend is on epic games, will it still work?
epic isn't really confirmed yet
I mean i have both, got on epic games 1st but after realizing its missing steam workshop.... Well i immediately bought it on steam😅
you can crosplay i think, but without mods as epic store doesn't have access to mods
Exactly the reason i switched to steam. And also achievements and all that
And also i like to have games all at one place
@split dove would you be okay if we play together sometimes? Also is it okay if dm you?
That will be official, they did say 1st person could be added back with mods so just check around unofficial servers when Ark 2 launches.
It's wild to me how people go from total strangers to invites to play together within minutes. I pretty much only ever play with my inner circle of friends
depends on how many folks you know who play the game you want, and how trusting you are of others
Me, a socially anxious introvert - does not compute
i only got like 1 reliable group of friends i play games with, managed to convince them to try Ark 2 when it's out and got them into Ark. lesson of the day, just convince your existing friend group to play Ark so you don't need to find a new one 🍺
most of my irl friends lack the time or interest - so it's better to just find some online folks
me trying to find a single person irl to play ark with
I didn’t have s**ual relations with Wildcard… ._.
Wrong of u to assume
This can easily be cured
Your ass needs to find a plug first
Part of me wishes.
Discord shit posting is one thing, but like actually interacting with people I don't know is really difficult. I freeze up really bad. Trying to get better about it and have come a long way, but still hard to manage sometimes
Bold of you to assume I have an existing friend group lol
maybe not physical ones, but ones in your mind like Lotus the schitzo
It helps if you join an online community that uses mics. Don’t share anything you don’t want to but make jokes and enjoy gaming with online folks who like it as much as you do and the anxiety eases up
Yeah, that's what I've been pushing myself to do, especially with Ark Roleplay servers - that way it's socializing and fun without being overly serious and people constantly shouting toxicity
That's honestly why I'm so passionate about Ark and interested in Ark2 - it really helped me take steps in overcoming my anxiety
LISTEN TO Zenkenstin Ark Devs.....
Give us ARK 2 in his name 😄
Well, is Ark 2 coming out in 2030 or 2040 ??
plugs are a spook created by internet strangers they dont actually exist
its coming next week

Meh i need some friends to play games with
Ok, I know this is ark 2 chat. But I want a completely honest no bullshit response
Where did the schitzo stuff come from

flobs probably to describe u
I hope we get an ARK 2 reveal in the Crunch this week. It will have been 4 weeks.
guess you miss the road map announcement cause aint shit happening until then
Why would the roadmap stop them posting a new dino concept art or something?
Concept art usually isn't what a roadmap is for
ok will see wont we
will we see fox as a ark 2 boss i say yes buy we will see fox we will see lol
will Ark 2 be released as full game or will it be alpha or beta (early release), anyone knows ?
No one knows anything except for the people working on it
@hallow wasp well...ok. thx
it's gonna be a early access release launch on PC and Xbox series x/s
Actually, we do
And yeah, like Flobs said. It'll release in early-access
....what?
explain it to him, i don't have the energy rn
I don't even know what the fuck they just said.
you think i did?
hmmm...nvm
Nope.
''Early access, also known as alpha access, alpha founding, paid alpha, or game preview, is a funding model in the video game industry by which consumers can purchase and play a game in the various pre-release development cycles, such as pre-alpha, alpha, and/or beta, while the developer is able to use those funds to continue further development on the game. Those that pay to participate typically help to debug the game, provide feedback and suggestions, may have access to special materials in the game. The early-access approach is a common way to obtain funding for indie games, and may also be used along with other funding mechanisms, including crowdfunding. All early access games offer an immediately playable version of the unfinished game to players.''
You're paying for a early not completely finished version of the game that is playable and available to the public, wich helps fund the development of the game so it can be completed and be released as a full game some time later. early access games are also required to be priced less than completed games ($40 max i think) compared to current $60/$70 games
Yeah....so I don't know what they meant with "or will it be paid" or whatever they said, cause they deleted the post
How much will it cost?

Probably at least || 🍻 ||
How much will it cost?
See above
gotta love the little trolls coming out the caves asking for a prices after being well answer
Hi guys how much will it cost? /s
My friend told me it’ll be $100
Fucking fix your game before taking our money Wildcard
||of course this is all sarcasm||
Bruh, nobody know
Nobody know a sh1t about Ark 2
You proved my point so hard

This chat for Ark 2 was created like 2 years ago and everthing that people talk here is just what they imagine, nothing from official info
Well, I wouldn't say 'everything' since people do talk about the stuff that's on the storepage, and confirmed in the dev-note section of the ARK-2 community-crunch
Just like they said sotf would be on ps4 yet still failed to brong it
Git bronged
Brongerino
They're going to brong it next week.
i feel like ark 2 is gonna be like gta 6
I hope ark 2 will be this year
They are bronging it next week for sure 💯
Not too sure about the bringing part
What you guys think this month's ARK 2 concept reveal will be?
