#ark-2

That's enough the feds aka mods are here
🏃♂️ 🚓
A few more hours till the crunch, bets on if there are more 'morsels' ?
Hoping
I bet a box of stale breakfast cereal that there will be
TSOTF coming to sega genesis and new voice line for rockwell.
Voice line is just Sonic rings scattering when he gets hit
Tbh I'm expecting " light crunch today, dont forget to vote"
You called it
yh my guess still is for ark 2 updates being monthly or just random news drops
Yeah I think you're right.
I'm pretty sure unreal 5 ark is going to kill ark 2
Whys that?
I'm from the future
Unreal 5 seems amazing
It was a good step in the right direction of UR6 which revolutionized VR gaming, most everyone VR games in the future now.
Ark VR is amazing you feel like you're really there
Um. Last I heard ark vr was full of bugs and wasn't that great lol
I don't personally enjoy games in VR, especially not Ark lol. Its way too janky to be stunning
Vr isnt worth it imo.
Its a fun gag, but there is only a few games that are A fun or B submerge me into the world
Needs to advance a lot more to grab my attention for more than a couple times a month
Even if there were more lol, computers just aren't good enough to handle realistic graphics in vr
Not yet
But who knows, maybe if Ark 2 gets vr it'll be cool
Maybe quantum could do it if thst ever gets mainstream. But that doesn't seem very likely in the near future
But with the age of quantum computing it became possible as well as holograms
You're pretty optimistic about the future of vr, whats your reasoning
the future is crazy awesome
Yeah, things on fire everywhere
keep dreaming
The whole point of gaming is entertainment usually
My issue with VR is it gives me splitting headaches and motion sickness
Yup
Same for the first reason
Quest 2 gives me less but they're still there
Yeah my head is usually sideways its weird
I hate having things on my eyes that make it so I can't see lol
Future VR headsets are lighter, easier on the eyes, and have haptic spacial dynamic audio
ok I'm done being future man
By the time Ark 2 gets vr (if they decide to implement it)l there might be a headset that actually makes it enjoyable. The changes need to be more than minor to make that happen though
My personal opinion is thst vr is never going to really take off lol
It's too expensive to be mainstream, and if it's not mainstream it'll never get the funding to really progress
I think it will when augmented is able to turn your real life into another world
That'll be too expensive to be mainstream lol
I mean $600 for a headset a lot of people bought on the older ps4 pro etc and had a decent selection of games
It's doable
When I can get a basic monitor for like 200 and have a wider selection of games. It's really not much of a choice lol
Do we know when Ark 2 is coming out for pc?
Nope not yet
ok
2023 unless Wildcard does what Wildcard does best
🍻
uff they actually made another special event, guess should be normal now going back whit their word now the question is, how much this continuation on ark1 gonna make ark2 suffer progress....
ark 2 trailer with ark 1 UE5 update?
That guy has been going on about it for ages leave him lol
He has just been fed some propaganda by his favourite creators
Yeah, tbh they shouldnt of announced Ark 2 at all
Couldve kept more people playing Ark 1 for longer and not repeatedly let down their fanbase with delays
yeh im one of those, lost my will while waiting for gen2, thats what happen as soon i beat alpha rockwell i just quit ark1 thinking ark2 wasent that far but i was sure wrong
Yeah when you thinks it's coming to an end, it's hard to commit more time. Meanwhile, that's almost 2 + years of play avoided
well it will make 3 years on august if not mistake when i quit
They’re just flipping a setting. Nothing new is being added for this event. So far the promise is maintained that no new events for ark 1 are taking place
well its more than flipping a setting, they need ppl controlling the servers cause its always a mess when this type of events happens
That’s a stretch statement that an evo event, which happens almost every weekend, is somehow delaying ark 2
altough must be very few cause its always takes forever to back up a crash server 🤣
Most of the delays I can see are from the new content an event adds screwing things up
no no talking about the special events like the one thats coming, color plus higher rates etc
The 2022 valentines event, which is being re enabled, should be a simple affair
It’s basically free. No more challenging than applying a patch to a server or anything
and all of those events even normal evo's were suppose to end this year like they said in the beginning of last year so they could focus all in ark 2
lol no more evo's of any kind
Just Fox things
remember they being doing all last year transfer event stuff to exo shop and giving codes for the non officials cause was the last year
Yes? That’s because they won’t be doing any new events and it’s not certain every event will be repeated forever
there you go again whit no new event, tell me when was the last new event? cause its being always same thing since ark1 when offical
The last new event was 2022 winter? What’s the hang up
and they did said no more evo's to focus on ark2, i still remember that
You’re aware that each year they ADDED new events for each holiday right?
new? same thing as always
always same thing, same colors plus maybe 3 new ones raptor claws bla bla bla
@tropic crag I’m leaving this to you. TLDR: the Valentine’s Day evo event means WC has broken their “no new events” promise and is delaying ark 2 for another 6 years
damn you made me spend time looking for but here from patch v344.3 " - We know you folks enjoy your event cosmetics so as we enter into our last year of events on ARK 1, we will be adding the associated cosmetics to the Hexagon Store once each event ends. Speaking of - we've added the Love Evolved cosmetics to Hex store with today's patch!
All of the event content will be added to the PC game at the end of the year's cycle of events so they can be opted into for our PC unofficial server owners and players. Our console players will be able to grab all event cosmetics from the Hex store!"
yes
Why would anyone think the event is a sign ARK 2 is delayed? It's not really much of an event, all it is the rates and colours. Not even sure the colours needs a server restart maybe that is dynamic like rates.
I mean so many people are going on about they lied about no more events, but I was under the impression they'd still do EVO for them anyway which this is pretty much that. I mean i'm convinced ARK 2 is pushed back but this certainly wouldn't be a reason why.
i dint say anything about being delay for having continue wht the events but i did say how much ark2 progress gonna suffer whit the continuation of ark1
But you don't know how WC team is structured though. Like tsotf has no impact on ARK 2 progress. So what's to say new dinos and UE5 will impact progress?
well i did say last year they were going to delay after dollie said something about joining on something i cant recall now and ppl mock me about it and bang got delay, now whit ark1 going to UE5 (what a joke) new creature (missing another new map 🤣) and spending time whit events like these while trying to hiring more ppl dosent sound very encouraging all this going as plan, at this point there's no point saying (ho its coming in june cause of xbox pass) no at this point its all guess until it really comes out
Oh yeah i'm sure ARK 2 is being pushed back myself for a multitude of reasons. But I wouldn't say activating an EVO event is "spending time". It's a dynamic config.
I mean, wildcard is good enough with business that they wouldn't jeopardize their future as a company to work on pet projects like sotf and ark1 Ue5. The fact that they are doing that means that it might be a little longer for ark2, but it's making good progress
They have had posts up for hiring for like 6 years lol
It doesn't mean they are running out of devs
I've always seen the recent hiring for ARK 2 posts as being for the long term development, not the EA release.
i wonder if they will add more fish variety , like small kinds of fish such as coel and salmon... there area bunch of mods that add lots of variations of fish filling the ocean , thatd be cool in ark 2
maybe make the minigame more fun , or just turn it from a minigame to smth more immersive , like in most fishing games
thatd be so damn cool...
Yeah, I'm glad I was asleep LMAO
That is reaching at best, not grasping basic concepts at worst. I'll let you guess which way the scale tips, lol
The whole "Ohh ARK 2 is definitely releasing in 2024" started to spread very recently to the point were people have actually considered it as a confirmed fact, I just hope the people acting like they're gaming insiders or are working on ARK 2 to just stop throwing away these beyond ridiculous theories with no proof which ultimately will kill the hype for the game and make the situation way worse.
gameplay isnt revelead yet, right?
Yep, we only got some concepts arts till now
do anyone know how long was ark 2 in development? i mean if it was worked on before annoucment or?
I think Ark 2 got delayed from 2022 to 2023 because of the Remaster and the SOTF, so the delay already happened and if everything goes right, we should the game in a few months
2019/2020
We got the first trailer of in the game awards of 2020
so there is chance of it coming this year
Yeah, Xbox said that the game should come out in H1 2023
I don't think it got delayed because of those reasons, SOTF started development late-october (Jat said it in the SOTF channel), and the UE5 project I'm not sure but its recent I think, the delay according to them was to polish the game and port it to UE5 because it was a new engine at the time.
Oh yeah maybe they didn’t port the whole game at the start of its making because UE5 was still in Beta
Exactly.
Wildcard never said anything about first half release window but rather just 2023 so it could at any time throughout the year.
Forza Motorsport 8 (was confirmed to be released in the first half) recently wasn't given a release date meaning it could've gotten delayed out of their first-half window so Its very possible ARK 2 could release in the second half.
I will be irritated by how many people will complain about a Q4 2023 release as “delayed”, but such is life
this isn't a community of the brightest people to be fair
I will be irritated by it being a Q4 2023 release. Do you get frustrated by other peoples frustrations? When your at a restaurant and you take forever to get served do you get annoyed at everyone at your table? I mean after all they didn't really specify when your meal will be at your table.
If you want you can always get up & go, but you won’t
yep, because you really want that meal.
Nobody pretends to know when it will release, at least I don’t, it is something I largely expect
Have you read this channel? LOTS of people pretend to know when it's coming out lmao
Hence Radicals message
Just ignore it. People are excited and getting frustrated. I get irritated by people being irritated at other peoples irritations. but such is life.
True
valid
And I do, but it doesn't discredit Radicals message in the slightest was my point. All that falsely claiming and misinforming people will do is hurt the game (for people who don't ignore it and have single digit IQ, I suppose, but that's like half the playerbase right there!)
They won't hurt the game at all. People are going to play the hell out of it when it comes out.
but for the analogy, it's more like walking into a restaurant, not ordering, then being mad your order didn't come out in 10 minutes
Fixed it
you pay once you get it, they've advertised ark 2 and we are all here to get it.
your analogy is twisted
problem not identified. The menu is the same regardless of how long the food takes to serve
the complaint is entirely based on how long it takes for the promised good to be provided. If the promise is 60 minutes or less, a lotta folks are complaining at the 20 minute mark rather than the 60 minute mark
I'll be a just as salty as everyone else if I see a 2024 delay message, but until that time 2023 lasts until December 🤷♂️
ARK 3 is releasing in 2069 and that’s a fact 💯
hopefully in VR
I am not sure if you’re joking or buying my statement
I'd be 89 years old, i'm up for that! 🤣
88 here, elder millennials represent
104... and still trying to solo Rockwell
70 year old me taming a gorilla spider to kill corrupted maewings
it being early access aswell also gives me a good feeling it will be out this year (and before anyone says ''i feel like it won't come out this year bc of no gameplay yet'' we're just over a month into the year, they can still showcase the gameplay and release it in the following 10-11 months)
Yes thats true, I'm with you man I really hope its first half but a couple of games that were promised in first half have been reportedly slipped out of the 12 month period and is releasing in second half so all I'm saying that its possible.
They could release a gameplay trailer a month before EA release, idk for some reason I feel like thats whats going to happen.
They're not AAA to require 4-6 months of marketing campaign with billboards, TV ads, so idk 🤷
i would prefer that, keeping it closer to the release and not showing some potential unfinal aspects from gameplay that could be changed in let's say 3 months before release
Radical makes a good point here, let's take 2K for example they waited until end of January to February to show game play for a March release game and they are a AAA company and didn't even reveal that far in advance.
same could be said For jedi:survivor only showed gameplay in December for what was originally a march release, but that was pushed back to April for more polish and bug fixes
Rather or not it pushed back is irrelevant point to showing game play or not to be honest. the example I used is for their WWE which has a set 3 days early play of March 14 for their biggest edition and 17th for the other two.
What Radical was saying and I'm backing up is the expectation of half a year game play footage is a ridiculous expectation.
wich i agree with, and in those time periods everything you could've potentially seen in that trailer could have been changed either small or heavily. with trailers like 1-2 months before release the severity of that being a massive possibility is lower
100% just like the 2K invite out for youtubers they just did I saw a few things I hope those people that played the early build made someone at 2K aware of.
guys dont worry , no matter how much ark2 takes to release , we still got ark 1
Sotf got remade by a single person, it didn't take the entire team. And the ark1 Ue5 update is being done by the ark1 team. The ark2 team is separate. So no sotf and the remaster are not delaying ark2
try seeing the bright side , you can still enjoy ark 1 untill ark 2 releases cus thats when ark 1 will completely die out and lose support form WC as they promised
yes , different game , different knowledge needed to work on it... i think? or WC simply hired bonus ppl just for ark2
Um, no not really
Both the remaster and ark2 are Ue5, my bet is that they are using the remaster as an opportunity to train the ark1 team in ue5
well , if after ark2 release we see all the ark1 devs have retired or work for a different company or different game(they can work on ark2 to help the current ark2 devs) , then we will know ark1 stopped getting support
Is there an release date yet
ahh , so it kinds of will end up to what i just wrote?
yes. 2023 , as in it can be anything between the next 5 minutes and 11:59pm at 31december 2023
at some point they said theyll stop supporting ark 1 once ark 2 releases
i think either my information is older than yours , or your information is older than mine
one of the two must be it.
They won't immediately drop support. That's always been speculation lol. They never said they would no longer support ark1
how many creatures you guys think will be in release?
if we say its a finished game not early access
I mean if order food and they say it'll be ready in 20 minutes. You show up, it's not done and they say 30 more minutes. Then you wait and then say oh it's another hour. Pretty sure you are more mad about the time you wasted there as apposed to food being late. Wouldve been a much better result if they said oh, itll be ready in 2 hours, we are backed up.
Pretty sure they gave us a ballpark number for the EA release, but I'd imagine even they have no idea how many there will be in full release
Oddly enough I had a similar situation happen at a vet clinic, waited 4 hours after they called and said the dog was ready. It was finals week, It was upsetting.
except that's not what happened. Unless you mean the later scenario of them saying "it'll be late, we're backed up" at the get go
Well that's not what happened either. It's like they told us it'll be here in 2 years, waited till we were chomping at the bit for it and then said, it'll be another year.
that's true that the 2023 delay could have come sooner
but people have also been inventing their own release dates for the last year or so for no reason
And their ambiguous release dates leave players checking in and wasting their time.
ambiguous is far superior to certain and wrong
Yeah, but not superior to overestimated and early
i mean idk what took place to cause the sole delay WC has officially made from 2022 to 2023, but obviously it would have been best to say 2023 at the start
however, folks have been tweaking out on made up deadlines like Jan 2023, November 2022, etc etc
Well yeah that unreasonable, but again the speculation is because they gave such a wide range.
It's like the repair guy complaint. they say they'll be here between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., so you are stuck waiting for them to arrive and they call at 5 and say itll be tomorrow
fair analogy, but some folks seem hell bent on pretending the repair man promised 11, then 12, then 2, then at 5 gave up and said "eh it'll be sometime"
Yeah that's true, going off unconfirmed rumors isn't the way to go
When is ark 2 due to ps5?
We still dont have a release date
💰
Will be a while for PlayStation
🍻
🍻
No release date still?
Not yet, still 2023
Hhhhh
We still got no info on Ark 2 for pc or ps5 yet?
🍻
.
i would be happy if they atleast told us the concept at this point team based building like ark 1 breeding that was popular inproved building would be great s+ was a huge hit. I would not mind to wait for great features that could put me in a game for 4 or 5 years and even some purchase goods content later. Worried now that if its buggy and not finished looking poof waste of time type situation and it get scrapped for further promotion.
31 december at 11:59 pm , but its 2023 atleast
is ark 2 going to be a story game?
2077
@tropic crag 🍻
Wonder if they'll stick to us waking up washed up on the beach or if we'll wake up in a pre-built small tribe hut area around the map.
Hi
idk if there will be beach and ocean, i hope we spawn more inland
also i wonder what the world barrier will be
we are no longer restricted to the implant range i belive and we nolonger are on an ark either
I know the reason for it was to prevent getting put around mid to late game dinos so that might keep it more on the beach again maybe
Imagine waking up against a Rex's big toe.
true but tbh that really didnt help xd
creatures spawned all over the place anyway
I mean only real danger consistently was if you chose a popular raptor spawn. I think Rag was only map that really had a rex spawn risk on the beach area
ive seen plenty of rexes sabers carnos at the beach of the island
of course they get lured there by herbivores but still
If you spawn north east which is south of carno island lol
Read the pinned note from the founders. It gets into some of those questions. Although we can only hope they gut the mutation system
if it still remains i'm gonna drink myself into a coma
I’ll just have to very carefully tweak my server to not need it again 😞
''looks up admin command for higher lvl dino spawn to save 3 months worth of breeding''
What exactly is the issue with the mutation system you have personally? Just curious
Search mutations in this chat and there’s an 80% chance you’ll find the answer. If you have questions after, @ me. I am trying to avoid retyping my tirade 😅
I can relate to what I read in that, summed up they need to make time consumption progress more player skill orientated rather than RNG system.
Taming and breeding is why I went unofficial mostly taming for me, using Theri as an example I don't think that dino justifies 2 hour tame time limit for what you're getting.
Yep, although the second major issue is that mutation stacking wildly breaks PvE balance. Everything becomes a joke because you can brute force it with mutations you gain while afk in a totally safe base
Can't argue with that I agree
I think a starter solution to a constant base defense requirement is something I saw mentioned in here a few days, we need same ratio in flyer spawns as ground with passive and aggressive dinos, that way you can't just wall your base in with the highest rated material that can't be damaged by wild creatures.
Ark 1 wild flyers are like wasp in real life, they only go so far from their nest lol
i prefer the base remain safe but I'm asked to leave it to accomplish things beyond crafting and farming...nothing is more irritating imo than being offlined by PvE
It would just be nice for you to have to be just as cautious in the air anywhere as on the ground so it doesn't become the default way to go around just for safety
yes, but that's slightly different from your main base of operations being safe
Maybe a compromise there would be on a modest ground level you wouldn't have to worry if they idle fly at a set height, but if you settle around a mountain or a tree house in the redwoods you need to consider some air defenses.
The higher you base becomes risk vs reward
In that concept it would essentially change to rather you need to ground defense or air defense. Would be rare to base somewhere you had to do both
🍻
🍻
🍻
Starting the morning off strong 😂
I think we are gonna become alcoholics
i've gained extreme stomach aches watching these chats lately. nobody would be surprised this happend to be honest
How long till it’s out
🍻
WhT
Where does it say
it's a joke, because people keep asking that
you know as much as we do about its release date
No release day yet ):
If only people had working optic nerves... wait a tic! On a side note, only 67 messages, none of which were a shitty 30 message rant about the devs/a feature, since I went and stayed the night out in the boonies? Good shit, y'all
Imagine a map equal to all the states finished on ATS for Ark 2 map size, that'd be insane and I would love it
Tf is ats
American Truck Simulator
SCS Games made sim
To put it in prospective... It takes about 30 minutes to travel from Dallas to El Paso in Texas on there
And you only travel on roads?
Seems like a very good map lol
Waay more detailed than ark 😂
you can always travel on grass as a madman and spend probably 2 hours getting your truck back up 😂
also definitely more detailed than ark, it's just a bunch of basic houses/factories and some nature areas next to your roads that might as well me procedurally generated
I mean, I looked it up, and it seems kinda neat honestly
But like, 8 already do frequent 12 hour drives over desert, so I don't really want to load into a game to do the same lol
they drive the entire state and make the surroundings photo realistically accurate which is why they add one at a time. And to answer your first question, no not only roads. If there no guard rail you can go off road even if it not intended.
Another example of a huge map would be The Crew.
I want them to make the biggest map they can possibly make and have it feel alive without a lot of dead zone.
If it took 20 minutes to travel across each biome by ground and 5-10 minutes through the air per biome I would be entirely okay with that
I mean, I want a bigger map than that lol
I want it to take an hour minimum on a tame to travel across biomes lol
I don't want to be able to see every single biome on a map from the same spot
What if it was smaller sections but split into a giant grid
And you can't just teleport everywhere like gen 1 lol
Not sure I follow
Like ark is already separated into a grid
If you are talking atlas type map grid between servers, I could sort of see that being a thing, but that doesn't really make the map inherently expansive
Basically like gen 1 but you can travel on foot and all the zones are connected on a big map
I just want some kinda server breakthrough that reduces lag lol
So an atlas configuration then
I have never played atlas lol I'm not sure
That seems to be what you are describing
I would be fine with that, but only if it makes biomes absolutely massive
You could have one biome in like 10 different sections all connected
Yeah, that's more of a thing with how servers connect. We don't know yet how they are planning to do it
The main problem I see is when the server is popping everyone on the server lags lol
That'll be fixed by better asset management
The reason I like how ATLAS does with clusters is that every tribe has their own land to claim and the biomes are not exclusive to one grid/server
The con about it is the transfer lag that is primed for exploit, even a "1 min of invulnerability as a fix" can be exploited
Well I haven't played on any game that had an atlas like server grid system so I don't know
how about we agree that atlas sucks and should not be talked about 😁
and ark 2 should not rely on loading zones like that
Area loading zones ( such as caves) and fixed spawn points are already a detriment. I did like how gen 1 would teleport you farther away if enemies were present, but they only checked for player, should also check for tames.
is it true when ark 2 is coming out the legacy servers are getting shut down?
ehhh not asking when the game comes out
Leaning yes because its a dumb question with zero possible known answer until WC explicitly says
And, y'know ... drinks
and i'd assume they would. once ark 2 launches there will probably be less support for the first game
but we'll have to see
Probably eventually, but likely not right away. Maybe a year or so, but depends on how much official traffic Ark1 still gets
yeah
Considering a PS player asked about legacy servers then I'd say very unlikely they'd get shutdown any time soon for that platform.
[redacted] when ark 2 is coming out [redacted]
I dunno, its teeeechnically still in there 😂
=P
When do you guys reckon they will release gameplay footage?
probably the next big event
something to get the most attention put on the project for the shareholders to ooh and aah over
You're s disgusting little boi
Probably a good few months away yet, unlikely before June I think. If they're going to be doing ARK 2 reveals regularly (monthly) then i'd not expect it any time soon.
Yh that’s what I’m afraid of aswel. Makes me think ark 2 won’t be released this year 😅
Check out the Xbox twitter account, supposedly ark 2 is on the “games coming in 2023” tweet
That doesn't necessarily mean anything
I hope it does 😭
Me too, but Xbox gets a projected date just like us. News isn't official until wildcard says it
has there been any leaks from ark 2 gameplay ?
or just a picture how the world looks
If we clinked every time THAT happened the meme is pointless cause it would be every post
Nerva didnt actually die he just took a nap and now hes gonna be the ark II villain 100%
He just wanted to get some sunlight and chill
I got an idea of how to stop land grabbing on official, but I need some of you PvPers to mention what the minimum size of a base for you to function and dominate? I was thinking how Ark 1 if you put a single foundation it going to degrade unless you connect a second one.
Maybe make it where unless you have 10x10 or 15x15 floor of foundation connected it starts degrading by damaging the floor so unless you can physically keep it repaired or your floor is at a minimum size where it doesn't do that.
I'm thinking people might still try to land grab like that, but that would be easier to report on official because it could be more obviously listed and seen as exploit/griefing trying to block people from building.
A spin off of your approach is define a main base with say a flag/marker. Every foundation or structure within its range would have a zero maintenance cost. Each additional building/base would have an increasing cost to maintain. 2nd, 3rd building could also be defined by a flag/Marker.
Yeah I could see that, could even bring it down to 5x5 filled foundations cause that would at least be easy to see spammed everywhere and report it.
i like Last Oasis' approach by having a outkeep maintainance for structures that keeps it from decaying
the same reason why you always keep your generators and turret ammos stocked
Make it where you can only flag 3 locations total, Base & 2 outpost
FOBs however is fair game
People don't like to be limited. Thats why you might choose to make the cost steep for additional buildings
people are always suckers for the grind tbh
For official it kind of a necessity to limit people, unofficial could remove that easy.
You could have specialty flags like a fob that have special maintenance conditions
FOBs are not meant to be permanent
it's also kinda exploity to keep the FOB there
remember the "turret spawn points"?
But the special fob flag could act like zero costs for 48hrs. After that it gets added to your other buildings
There 3 reasons I got pushed to unofficial.. The main reason was sheer land grabbing, you were not building if you weren't among the first on the map. The other two were the time consumption of taming and breeding.
I liked every other aspect of official taking time to go out and resources farm.
easily abuseable, they'll just remake the flag once the time expired
FOBs should NEVER be permanent
I think a flag system you would be able to pick up your flag if you needed to move somewhere else, it would just start the degrading timer
Tie the flag to the structures. To reset you would have to remove all fob structures
timers cant be trusted either as we all know servers tend to crash or fill up, preventing people to pop in
I'd say 12 hours before all structures decay after you pickup flag on your base, and make it known if you pickup a flag you can't put it back down for 12 hours in the same spot.
That would prevent exploiting that timer and also give you plenty of time to move everything to your new location.
If you cant login you cant defend your base any how.
I think there are many possible work arounds to over come undesired game play.
5x5 foundations to not have it auto decay instead of just 2 would solve that simple solution, everyone base is going to be bigger than 5x5.
Pillar solution is make it where they can't start from the ground, they can only start for a ceiling for bridge construction.
That would at least make it so it could be reported and have it handled by WC
What stops a tribe from building in every cave on a server? So no defendable spots are left.
Caves can only be built in if not considered an actual cave on official.
Then say the best defendable spots instead of caves.
5x5 foundation requirement is still at play if you could get in there and see it not actually being used, but if they throw a door up you just have to assume you got beat to that spot and it a home for someone else.
ok what if a tribe builds multiple 5x5 foundations?
4 post up the last sentence covered that. Spamming 5x5 foundations everywhere is an eye sore and easy exploit to see and report for WC to handle.
not if building/base spam
I'm starting to believe you aren't understanding how close the spam has to be in order to lock in mass land, spamming entire bases up the way land grabbing is on Ark will not be a thing.
Think land mines being placed in a war zone
The spam your talking about isnt to grab land, but to stop FOBs.
A large tribe has no problem spaming 5x5 structures all over the map.
The spam I am talking about is land grabbing, join any island or rag server on official right now on PvE, it like a minefield on crack for miles.
And 5x5 foundation are easy to report because it would be an eye sore to minefield 5x5 foundations
PVE should be banned imo.
Lol no.
what why
better for private servers
PvP belongs in only SoTF imo
It really needs a lot of over sight and a dedicated admin. Too much of a burden for ticket reports. Best conducted on a private server or as a stand alone game.
Ark 2 is being designed for PvE though, and PvP is just going to be an option to play.
We will see. Maybe Pixel-ark2.
To be honest way easier to make money on PVE with in game sales.
That why they are going to develop SoTF along side Ark 2
SoTF was a stand alone game format that came out during earily ark development
They just revitalized because it was a fun side game to play
And it now released again with a whole different and better feel. It releasing sometime this week for console and WC has stated already SoTF will be developed along side Ark 2.
UE5 upgrade is the last update Ark 1 will get. They have already said events are done.
remastered means using the new ark2 skins on the models in ark 1
This allows ark1 and ark2 to be on a unified platform. Allow remastering ark1 easier
pve is getting more love design wise compared to Ark 1, it's still gonna be designed with pvp in mind as well
Ark 1 is getting a bare bones version of UE5 cause that all it can handle. It won't get the full engine like Ark 2 cause one of the major difference is nano nites which Ark 1 will not get
Ark1 will just not utilize all the features of Unreal 5 because those features have not been programmed in. Has nothing to do with not being able to handle it. With WC programming history they will most likely keep all the Unreal 5 feature available but just not utilizing them in the remastered version. AS opposed to deleting the features not used from Unreal 5.
Bruh what 💀
WC stated end of last year that into the new year they were not doing events on Ark 1, so the updates are toward the end as we get closer to Ark 2.
I hope complexminded's gold gem has not been lost. The crafting system in primitive plus was awesome. The loading times and lack of support has done it in. It wasnt the right time, but it was an awesome gamemode.
See you agree. You must be a PVPer with the skull. LOL
i see we've gone back to ''ark discord chatter logic'' again
I dont agree with you at all
They came out an said they weren't supporting that mode because they were just going to put that time into Ark 2 development, but I agree prim+ was great and you can play it, but you need to find a server with certain resources have been added into drops.
Hope is some of the good features of Prim plus can be integrated into ark2. Really should go back to the old kibble system with prim plus improvements. Maybe sort out the tier system to make more sense (which was a flaw of the old system).
The way they said it because that was the direction they were going in Ark 2, it a pretty safe assumption. I liked all the different recipe options and different crafting designs. You could make a whole ass tavern with a legit bar, stools, shelves behind it
I don't think it will be the last update tbh. I mean UE5 will allow them to do a lot more stuff if they want to. But we'll see.
It'll update up to Ark 2, but we do know that at most if only events they might turn on may be holiday ones if those.
Well we don't know at most, because no-one knew about UE5 or a new dino until it happened. I'd put my money on something else. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Jeremy's comment about holding off the UE5 announcement until they are ready to show more major stuff is not ARK 2 related. Most likely ARK 1 & Animated.
Event Cosmetics
We know you folks enjoy your event cosmetics so as we enter into our last year of events on ARK 1, we will be adding the associated cosmetics to the Hexagon Exchange once each event ends. Speaking of - we've added the Love Evolved cosmetics to Hexagon Exchange this week!
All of the event content will be added to the PC game at the end of the year's cycle of events so they can be opted into for our PC unofficial server owners and players. Our console players will be able to grab all event cosmetics from the Hex store!
That from their survive the ark page
How is that related to what I was saying though? I was saying we don't know what "at-most" they will do. I'd hardly say events would be at most.
That was on March 4, 2022
Beginning of last year
Last year being the last year of events on Ark 1
Not sure why you are going on about that, it has nothing to do with what I was saying.
I seriously doubt they will be doing a big UE5 update to simply leave ARK 1 as it is afterwards.
There is a lot more to ark updates than just events
Cause that what we were talking about was events before you stepped in and chose one post to comment on my guy
Sorry I didn't respond to every single comment. My bad.
I mistyped that post and corrected in later, updates should of been events in that one
Ark1 will get nanite when it's updated to Ue5. That is a pretty significant part of the porting, and is actually one of the simpler parts believe it or not
I see the UE5 update as a prototype for ARK 2 and therefore expect more to come to ARK 1 as a result of UE5 as further prototype for ARK 2. There's no way WC would update to UE5 and leave ARK 1 as it is, no way because that won't really bring in new players alone, and surely that is part of the reason for doing UE5 before ARK 2 releases.
I think the Ue5 update and ark2 are unrelated entirely lol. The way I see it the devs got new toys with the new engine and they want to see how far they can take it
UE5 in Ark 1 is a good way to see how some of the dinos turn out and what issues existing dinos may need fixed when they commit to that upgrade.
I don't see them reusing any dinos from ark1 lol
We've already seen rex new model, it probably using the same base with modifications
This just tells them if they can use base models or if they need to work from scratch
The animations and model we have seen for the Rex so far is drastically different than ark1. And we have them saying that the ai will be totally different. I really don't see them reusing any Dino models or anything lol
I would be surprised if most of ark2 dinos aren't already finished lol
reusing a old model and having to add all those things will likely take longer than making them from scratch, as you basicly need to replace everything with the new ai and animations
Yeah I doubt they'd reuse dino models tbh.
AAA companies re-use models, animations, etc all the time so
They probably won't reuse the breeding code either
god i hope mutations aren't a thing anymore
Yup, and that's why all AAA games are generic, identical and suck
lol, that made me laugh immediately
bc they don't care about the players and want to save money for their cash grab
Why does it seem to be only steam players I see with complaints about mutations o.O
It always light blue names
Because Xbox and ps mutations haven't been capped for years lol
The mutation system in ark currently is unbalanced and broken as all get out
That where you're mistaken, I've had a Rex on one server with 90+ on each side of the breed line
and was still going up
90+ points is literally nothing lol
i still don't get how people try to defend the current mutation system
I don't either lol
I'm not defending mutations, If breeding only change color mutations I would be fine with that.
It kind of sort of makes sense for pvp with stuff like shotguns and comp bows being a thing
But for pve it's actually the worst mechanic
I want it to unlock a skill tree lol
I think I want them to re-evaluate taming and raising on official personally. I'd rather not spend 3 days raising one creature lol
i can't be botherd to look up my replacement suggestion for stat mutations.
TLDR: replace stat mutations with dino skill trees unique to every creature (this prevents the now classic ''AFK breed to cap and lvl to destroy everything'' mutation system) so every dinos skill tree starts at the same amount and can be upped to a working cap, and keep colour mutations as just small chances to get while breeding.
I don't personally have an issue with that lol. There should be some more qol for that though
my suggestion also rewards you spending time using each individual creature by making it's skill tree go up over time
You shouldn't be able to go from 0 to 200 quickly on official though
There has to be a limit to how much time is spent per creature leveling, especially if there is still anarchy pvp
Continuing on that, maybe have it use leveled states not just base stats. So when you max a dino the new breed will have an average of the two maxed out... So on.
What
Current system ignores stats you level, only base stats matter. Have it at max level be the stats that go into the offspring
You are saying use the leveled stats in offspring as their base stats? Bro that would literally be way worse than the current mutation system
How? It would make you use each dino and however you decide to level the stats is how it going to end up
It would be player skill not RNG
Player added levels or skills should not be transferable through generational lines
the only good part of ark 1's breeding
If it is in any way it has to be severely limited
Like imagine breeding a racer to 25k base hp, then leveling it to 250k hp, and that's where your next line starts
I can tell must be coming from a PvP stance.
Pvp or pve a broken op system is bad for game longevity
It's also not a fun gameplay loop
How long does a game have to go for to successfully have longevity? Ark 1 game out in 2015 which is now entering the 7th year. I'd say that pretty successful longevity.
And as bad as the mutation system is, it isn't nearly as bad as player leveled generational stats would be
Most people in pve restart from scratch a lot because they enjoy the early game, or they are newish to the game. In pvp the mutation cap is less of an issue because everyone has capped everything. If pve were the only thing, and people didn't restart constantly it would die out pretty fast
There is a pretty general consensus in the pve community that ark1 endgame isn't that enjoyable
You could make the same argument in pvp, but endgame pvp is totally different than endgame pve
Early game Ark1 is great because every bit of progress feels like a massive step forward. As soon as you're established and working on breeding lines and mutations, I tend to start losing interest pretty quickly because its just .... waiting.
I feel like someone restarting from scratch is irrelevant because it impossible to not get to a point where you can't handle whatever you need to.. It comes down to do you want the developers to put it in an RNG system and drag it out time consumption or player skill.
Yup, and once you get one moderately decent Dino, the game is entirely trivial for pve. That is the reason I moved to pvp in the first place lol
Not entirely following the point here lol. I can start from scratch with a new char, and within 24hrs of gameplay I am already prepping boss fights. As a solo, in pvp. The rng of the game doesn't affect actual skill in the gamd
Guessing you are considering your unofficial experience
What do you mean unofficial stance?
I ran alpha ab, alpha center and had a rathole built in 24 hours on 1x official. It doesn't matter the server you play of you know the game well enough
Arks rng is not an issue at all, it's easily dealt with
I think rng should be more of a factor, and have more import, in pve of course
Ah so you're coming from the mindset of someone who just wants to tryhard speed run vs playing a game how it designed to be played. I hope to god they don't make this game in mindset of people just trying to speed run end game.
Breeding alone there no way you're getting boss ready without a hand me down from the alpha in 24 hours
Um. No I am coming from the mind set that ark1 is really easy if you know how to do it lol
Why do I need to breed anything lol. It's ab and center. No tames required
You claimed to not use mindset of speed run, but you're giving only two maps to start on where you don't need tames. That exactly the mindset of a speed runner.
And exactly how the game NOT designed to be played
It's how it HAS to be played lol
lol no agree to disagree
Try pvp without tek and ascentions. You won't last 2 days
For pve you can do it any which way. But it isn't more difficult
last 5 months
by doing absolutely nothing 💪
You just have the luxury of going slower
Imo the pve in ark should be like 5 to 10x harder, and the best way to do that is get rid of the wierd BP system, nerf fliers, and fix the mutation system
i think ark just needs better difficulty scaling
I've stated multiple times the only PvP I'm doing is SoTF. I play games like Ark PvE to go through the entire game not two maps properly which means building up and playing it as it designed.
its too much of a jump from thatch to anything else
That's fine. It doesn't make the game a challenge though
I want ark2 to be a challenge
Even when I have 5000 hours in the game
ark relies on pvp to be its challenge source but thats an even bigger jump from metal than from thatch to metal
Pretty much
the progression curve should roughly match the somewhat exponential jumps that occur, but there needs to be more stuff in between
A hard agree to disagree on that
theres basically just 2 or 3 stages
The time commitment of pve to pvp is too much, but the lack of challenge in pve is frustrating lol
yeah
I am hoping it's a bit better in ark2
they need to make sure the aratai fill in the missing progression jumps
that or some other pve
I mean, even a better combat system thst makes fights actually tough would be good enough
I want to have to fight a Rex, not just eat it, it's neighbors, friends and affiliates by just walking past it lol
could be fun
id say breakinf away from fights should be a thing but if its impossible to get away from an aggrod rex people will just learn to avoid them altogether
Yeah, there should be a way to escape. But it should be by avoiding the ais detection angle or something
i think the main issues involved with increased combat difficulty is 1. reward and 2. aesthetic
by reward i mean physical resources, ark1 killing even a giga has such a shit risk to reward especially if youre not already endowed with end game tames. Aesthetic is just making you feel cool while fighting
so like interesting character animations, moves, etc
i think thatd go a long way outside of number optimizing rewards to make combat enjoyable
because even if its hard, eventually youll probably be good enough to figure out how to perfectly kill a rex in minimal time, or youve already killed so many that you just learn how to acoid them all because its becoming a chore
latter depends on total difficulty
like if im bobbing around with a level 50 flyer im not gonna spend 10 minutes trying to kill an alpha rex even if i could because its stupendously boring and with minimal reward, im just gonna lead it off a cliff
this would still apply with rexes that use interesting combat strategies if the fight doesnt look cool and the reward isnt there
i dont know if wc will be able to make fights look too cool, so thisll probably just be reward based
id prefer simple easy to kill rexes if the reward is 2 stacks of meat
sorta my same issue with complex taming
if the tame is gonna last me like 2 days id prefer ko tames
We need a deep and rich story campaign with multiple chapters
My perfect ARK 2 -
Santiago
Mei-Yin
Diana
Rockwell side cameo
HLN-A return
About 3 new Survivors with interesting stories to tell
And not counting Meeka
She's just a kid
Unless she like, saves Arat from the Corruption, I doubt she'll do much.
This won’t happen
wut do you mean I want to ride around with Vin Diesel in a campaign bro
can all be in an instance of the world for all I care
I’m going to steal vins Rex
Ark is an online survival game. Deep and rich story doesn’t fit in this genre.
All characters (like Santiago) will probably have a minor role
Ark 2 lore will probably be as deeper as the lore from the first title
there better be otters still
and dodos
we saw dodos
????????????????
Did you even PLAY ARK 1?
Depends on how good ark 2 is gonna be
yeh
ark 2 is going to be a banger i just know it
I agree, I’m liking what I’m hearing so far
Where's your TEK, you say?
It wont get the credit it deserves when it comes out but give it 3 years people are gonna be glad it exists
Imagine we get a hard rocker guitar emote and can rock hard on top of our dinos
with a primitive guitar
Bro 3 years 💀
its always the same
the new ai is going to be awsome
oh yeah ai that actually hunts you
Watch them put emotes I will laugh
the game gets hate then everyone loves it later( im looking at you pokemok and gamefreak)
dinos hunt by sight smell and hearing
I'm going to cover myself in dodo poo
what if no more POOP in ark 2
Same I’m ganna roll around in it
There is no way WC release ark 2 without high resolution super realistic poop
Yes, since day one in 2015
Yeah bro and now we can mask our scent with it !
The ark’s lore isn’t that important to the gameplay
so no more balls of poop? actual sausages or wet szuff
And will probably follow this trend in ark 2
It’s ok I would say, but it’s not very important to most players
awesome does not equal important to gameplay
i too think the lore is awesome
I mean in 2015 it wasn’t even complete back then
Now we just need romance options in ark2
it looks more like a rpg then a sandbox
Go play the sims
But seriously, they won’t invest too much on the lore, I believe
It will probably be on par with Ark 1
i wonder if rockwell be back or element is there and if not the natives will be cool
Nah rockwell has to be gone that story was stretched out too much
My opinion: Rockwell shouldn’t come back. The Aratais are way more interesting
What if in ark 2 there is an invading alien group with advanced tek that we have to fight with primitive tek
im kinda sad HLN-A didnt make the explode
s
And then we have to join forces with the Aratais and fight off the invading military advanced tek aliens with their flying fortresses and weapons like in Avatar
that would be awsome
and we learn how to fly dragon creature things and turn blue
I would more interested to see other human factions using tek to fight us
The humans are the aliens 👽
maybe rockwells servents looking for revenge for there master
Imagine Aratai flying around on wyverns with giga pods
Please: No wyverns and gigas
I agree lol
wyverns: yes
What if there is an advanced group of aliens that seeded earth with element to try and destroy it and take it over as a new world. That plan failed but they found us on this new planet and the poop hits the fan.
Gigas but balanced
amazing
Let the “magical creatures” be from Arat
corruption rebegins
What if the UE5 update is not the Messiah??
We then fight along our ai companions the arat
I bet one of the bosses is aratai
are there going to be boss?
Probably
probably
Jinx
maybe a alpa rex that landed there because they look alot bigger and more dangrous in the trailer
or a rex that was raised there and higher oxygen made them bigger
Smoochum
with glowing eyes and tek element teeth
Arat probably does not have higher O² than earth
Would make humans surviving there quite difficult without Tek
Human lungs are quite fragile anyway
My guess is the planet's biosphere is almost identical to earth
depends on how hard they want to go with the survival part
it could be lower oxy and we need a special thing to survive
or survive certain regions I guess
Humans can breath in 100% oxygen, a higher concentration would do nothing to us. Human lungs are not that fragile, our lungs are the product of millions of years of survival of the fittest evolution.
Or any other deep, story rich survival game on the market 🤣 (The Forest, Grounded, etc.)
Now to be fair, in order to realize there is a story in ark you'd need two things: patience and reading comprehension.
Would remove wild dino levels be a good idea? Cause now theres an extreme difference between taming a max lvl dino and a min one. It would make the dino species matter much more and replace "this dino is very strong cause its a max level" with "this dino is very strong cause its a rex", and "this dino was hard to tame cause its a max level" with "this dino was hard to tame cause its a rex"
you'd remove much of the need to explore and find the diamond in the rough.
Maybe the challenge wouldnt be finding it, but training it
Definitely won't be color because that's something you get in micro-transactions these days.
I think if you did that everyone would just stick to their own little bubble. There would be no need to really go out there and travel the map.
Release date?
Certain species could be in certain areas of the map
Its a pain in the ass to wipe the low level population of a specific rare dino so a high level one spawns
and most don't have either of those
Even if you were to put rexes for example in one part of the map, you'd only ever have to go there once. You would be removing a reason to travel around the map beyond the first tame. It would become stale.
Survival games are grinding games. You remove the grind, it loses its longevity
And why would you want to come back in ark1?
Meh everywhere I look I find on average lvl 130-180 lmao got like 3 lvl 180-185 wyvern eggs in a row
Training your dino is the grind
Wyverns arent rare
I didn’t say they were? I’m just saying I always find high levels
I’ve noticed on different maps higher levels vary
I DID say rare dinos on the message you replied to
Yea I always find rare Dino’s with high levels that’s why I said maps tend to be different it seems
Respawning, Obelisks, Guardians, Overseer, Mek, MegaMEK, KT, Breeding, Gen1, Gen2 and many more aspects of the game would like a work from you.
Breeding tends to be my downfall mostly lol
On God.
By rare dinos i mean griffins on rag
Yea rag is hard to find good Dino’s but currently I’m on fjordur
Where do I find charcas or gigas on fjordur
Check the wiki. You can discuss this in #general or in #ark-survival-ascended
Alright
The only challenge PvE offers is stunlocks or getting pinned into a wall/floor and being immobilized
I pitched this years ago and it’s true that you need some sort of incentive to tame more than one breeding pair of a species. I think a level 1 rex should win against a raptor levels 1-140 if the cap is 150 (IE levels shouldn’t be created equal) but you could also do variable wild skills (not every rex you tame has the same skills) or some other way to give players that feeling of hunting for the exceptional
🍻
Also…survival games are not nearly as much about grind as RPG games. Great survival games have minimal grind and focus on the true appeal of the genre: surviving
Exept for many survival being rpgs too
So?! It’s something most people just ignore. It’s not the most important aspect of Ark, that’s my point. They won’t invest much on building a more complex lore because it’s not something most players care.
The importance they gave to the lore in Ark 1 is already enough.
When is ark 2 released on ps4
Probably never
never on ps4, if it even comes to ps it's only ps5
For now it’s coming in 2023 for PC and Xbox Series only
Yep, since survival games usually need some extra features in order to have more longevity
any new updates ?
I’m not so sure that’s clink worthy. Never hurts to ask if there’s an update in a general sense
If he says “update on release date” tho it’s 🍻🍻 time
Fair, I rescind that clink
?????
Just because something is ignored doesn't meet its unimportant???
And you seem to forget that this is literally coming after 2 story based DLCs
They created an entire animated series based on the lore provided in the game.
The animated series will hopefully move the lore up in complexity. In the game, only the world building imo was top notch
The delivery of the lore was kinda terrible. And it had little impact on gameplay (instead, as it should, gameplay came first and lore explained it after)
U should put this in the animated series section
I’m speaking about lore’s impact in ark and ark 2 though?
you cant talk about ark 2 lore without talking about ark 1 lore
also ark series discord is full of idiots who only spam bob
you cant talk in there
have you played destiny 2? what you suggest reminds me of the weapon rolls
I don’t play games that emphasize power creep as the primary time sink
But I suppose it’s a good thing something similar is out there lol
whats power creep?
New things are objectively superior to old things. Rinse repeat so people are forced to keep scrambling to get the new things that beat the old ones
if there was any way to know the skills a wild dino has i would be ok with it. If raptor pouncing was a skill, i would like to see if it pounces or not
I mean in my head it’s like wild Pokémon abilities. Some can be identified in battle, others can’t be
if its just a roulette you spin right after taming its a bad system imo
It can be fixed in the wild, but you may not know all traits until you finish taming
It’s better than the ark 1 RNG heavy taming process where 50% of the levels randomly distribute to each stat
"hunting for the exceptional" could just be stat distribution
how would you fix that?
That’s what it is in ark 1
Again, having size/class based stats means that level 1 and 150 rex are only different in terms of rex v rex. So levels and any RNG from taming is about finding exceptional creatures rather than “what we need”
An ark 1 level 1 is useless of almost everything, just because ark 1 is all stat values and level 1 has no stats. Since base stats are everything (player stat levels being tied to base stats is also oof)
I would come back often enough for the good stats on it
Ressources should be the main traveling reason. Should be more regional for some rarer ressources to build specific consumable
And that’s where the lore will thrive greatly. My point is they probably wont make Ark 2 more story dependent. It will be (probably) as sandbox as Ark 1 was.
at most probably like gen 2
Yeah
But people earlier were talking about more complex and deeper lore based game, which I don’t believe will happen.
I would like that
i loved that gen 2 had a small increase in lore presence, but not so much that it popped up during everything you do that isn't missions or notes
Yeah, that’s enough to please both audiences.
So, I am late to the game for this probably, but does anyone know what ark 2 is supposed to be like? like what kind of game is it gonna be? Will we have unofficial servers for them or is this just story based and have light multiplayer? any help to point me in the right direction would be awesome.
We really don't know much other than the pinned messages. You'll be able to do unofficial or official, we don't know about singleplayer yet but I hope we have the option. It's still a sandbox game, so I'm assuming that means some story content but you can still go for just playing.
Cool! I have people asking me if we will get ark 2 servers and I just answered I have no idea if ark 2 will play like ark 1 or not lol
according to the devs there's supposed to be some element of 'souls-like combat' added
They've mentioned allowing unofficials to mod in the 1st person, so I'm assuming we'll have server options.
i find it funny some people think the delay to 2023 was bc people didn't like third person only and they were gonna change it. Third person only was also mentioned with the steam page and delay till 2023 at the xbox showcase from june. nobody knew about TPO and other stuff before that as well. But I'm expecting them to think logicly and listen to real news, but miracles almost never happen
live laugh love
hay flbos you like ice cream
do you like ark put them to together make a ark ice cream lol
🍻
Saw an article today that was titled " Ark2's release date: the moment we've all be waiting for" ...... read the article and its .... 2023.
See what you get for reading articles with sensationalist headlines? Lmao
it isn't suppose to get out in feb 2023?
Sheesh I should start my own tabloids business
🍻 ?
Sandwitch your young for becoming an alcoholic
I dont remember where I saw it, was sure it was on steam literaly but apparently not, checking and it says to be announced... just killed my hype
We need in game achievements and Horizon Zero Dawns intuitive UI that guides you through everything in the game, but with HLNA
That way we don't even have to think the game tells us what to do
HLN-A is most likely not returning in ARK-2
toxic
What?
I would hope she does, but I'm not counting on it
I hope also, but yeah. Not counting on it.
There is yet to be an official announcement
anyone know if its actually going to release this year
Why
extra double toxic
doesnt sound like a survival game at all then
We can pretend we're surviving
ark 2 releasing in 40 days guys !!!!
🍻
We are not be able to play ark 2 bc server say 70/70 🥲
Nobody is able to play Ark 2 server(s), because the game ain't out yet, pardner
*4000 days
Joy to the world, UE5 is come
Let ARK players recieve their salvation
🙏🏽
and grind their PCs to the ground
sarcasm
Anyone know when its coming out?
🍻 2023
if it comes out 23 itll be in november / december i think. but i think it will more likely be 2024 cuz they changed it from 2023 to Soon
Also they delayed every single DLC including Atlas. And even multiple times on one release as well. Its sad. There was a lot of times where people took vacation to play and then suddenly it got delayed. I think Atlas got delayed on release day.
🍻
I was told it'll be out by June
Wow, he blocked me lol. Haven't even talked to the guy yet
❌
Atlas wasn't made by Wildcard, and there are things that haven't been delayed and came out on time, arguably the most important pieces of DLC/updates of the games entire life cycle (Scorched, Lost Island, the bug and wyvern breeding update, and Fjordur, as well as the Carcharo but that's just a dino I suppose)
Charchar was shadow dropped too I was quite suprised they did that
I hope they shadowdrop the next creature
Yeah, same here, and it was a really good launch too, very little bugs and a really well balanced creature from the start
For one creature? I dont think that its a dumb idea honestly
Its doesn't need to be anyways
unless if its a map or a DLC maybe its bad to shadowdrop those
ARK 1 UE5 shadowdrop 🫣
can you imagine
Steam changed it to Coming Soon along with many other games, Wildcard didn't change it.
Doubtful. 🤣
what other game got changed ?
maybe steam is like, cmon wildcard we know thats not true xD
Loads, basically any game that didn't have a designated release date or something. Steam changed the way they do stuff a while back and this was part of that. It was an automated thing across Steam.
ew no
Starting to get restless out here for ark 2 lol I keep seeing YouTube vids coming out everyday at this point
I hope they add Steam achievements for ARK 2, and add new ones with DLCs. It gives players something else to play for.
Steam cards
DLC specific ones would be a cool addition
I fucking hate how they just left the DLC's for ARK-1 in the dirt when it came to achievements.
There’s a reason for that…it screws up completion statistics on steam if you weed out players based on DLC rather than if they actually completed something
But normal ark vanilla could have has a dozen more achievements easy, even without using DLC. Each artifact could have been an achievement, killing an alpha rex, hatching an egg, etc etc
I want some steam items on the points shop for ark 2, i want my full on ark profile maaaan
I’d like that too…get some emotes and banners and whatnot
No Microtransactions, No NFTs... I hate you
I mean steam profile looks, nothing in game
But you are monetizing my beloved game!!!
🗿
😂
But seriously, it would be awesome
that's another way to keep the money flow to the devs
Its already monetized, its not like it is free
we need ark background banners from the steam shop 🗿
Does that even give money to devs?
If it does its probably almost nothing
I think it’s more about cool art and hype than anything else
Yeah
I’d also really prefer that chibis are account unlocks rather than loose items
It would be cool if certain tasks/achievements unlocked them rather than farming mats and sitting in front of a cook pot 😅
I kinda like the hunt for Chibis though
Plus it'd ruin being able to trade with them/for them
Am however excited to see the building mechanic overhaul. I sometimes find it more frustrating than death lmao
I can't wait to chose the romance option for Santiago with my male beefy caveman
Lmfao
Will be nice to have quests and world events too, also looking forward to the creature overhauls (secretly hoping there'll be prim+ like building structures added too, would be perfect for the type of setting)
Chill out. Wild card didn't change that date. It was steam doing for a bunch of games
Also anybody seen the recent T Rex leak for Ark 2,
?
😆😆
Bruh
Yes
If by recent you mean a couple weeks old, yea
It’s not fun if you restart often…I don’t mind hunting for special event colors or whatever but I would love it if there was a library of default color chibis you could pull from based on what you did ingame. So you knew for example someone with a rex chibi did something special
True, they did add in a way to get Chibis but gotta have gen1/Gen2 to get em. Maybe some basic Chibis linked to account but the rarer ones I think should still be farmed
I've lost many a favorite chibi so I get what you mean
I'm also a dirty little egg farmer during eater event and love fishing during valentine's event though lol the thrill of the chibi hunt
In all honesty I'm jonesing to hop into ark 2, driving me crazy but the wait will be worth it to me
If “rare” means color or variant I can accept the terms lol. But my primary chibi use comes in the early game when I die a lot and want a derpy tiny creature following me around
Although who knows, maybe chibis won’t be in ark 2…maybe there will be a suite of tamable small creatures that take their function instead
Man, I was being sarcastic, because some people think devs should work for love, not for money. 🤣
AFAIK valve gets 5% and the dev gets 10% for each transaction.
If you sell something for 1 dollar: 0.85 goes to the seller, 0.10 goes to the dev and 0.05 goes to Valve
That’s what I’ve heard some time ago
I love me a passion project, but those budgets are usually gonna be small or the timelines are gonna be insane…for example I have mad respect for the almost 20 years of Dwarf Fortress being free
You mean publisher in this case? Cause I’d say that probably heavily varies by publisher
Agreed, there’s a lot of good freware projects, but all professional devs need money to live. Gaming devs need to monetize their games in some way.
Anyone making a good or a service needs to sell it to keep doing it full time, that’s for sure. Ofc donation heavy projects are super cool, but ultimately that’s still selling a product
Not sure about the details. It probably depends on how publishing studio agreed with the dev studio. I don’t know who would get the money if Ark 2 had marketplace items (not sure if snail games or WC).
Idk either. I’m not really all that enthused about the marketplace
I far prefer ingame collectibles that stay ingame
Fair enough. But some people above were asking for marketplace items like backgrounds for Steam profiles. I think it’s a legit way to make some profit.
It’s like a collector’s edition. I wouldn’t pay more for it, but some people will.
I think it’s more of a marketing tool than a money maker from what I’ve seen
I think it depends on players using it or not. Games like CS and PUBG made a lot of money through MP.
MP = marketplace
For sure, but afaik that’s through collected ITEMS rather than through backgrounds and such?
(IE not the point shop stuff)
Though I bet a steam marketplace for chibis would probably go NUTS
Yeah, probably. Market for backgrounds only doesn’t seem to be large enough
By rare I mean the color labels
We don’t even know if chibis will be a thing in ark 2.
Like others said above, they might replace the chibis for other form of companions.
Chibi Vindiago 🤔
wdym big beefy cave man, im going small and little to get those santiago backshots
I don't personally like chibis lol
I dislike that chibis take the offhand slot
Don't mind the idea, really don't like it takes an equipment slot. Dedicated slot in Ark 2 would be fine
ark 2 should feature fewer dinosaurs and more tek and overpowered fictional creatures
I unironically would prefer this
what would you do with pocket twos on the button
Preflop, action folded to me?
utg and utg+1 limped preflop
I print money off limpers
I tried to send a poker gif but I was prohibited

But not in this particular instance,
You need nitro
Poker stuff isn't ark 2 so let's move
Discord is pay to win
Eh. It's not a big deal
It's not. It's because it's easier for moderation to watch a hundred or so boosters than 180k people.
Back to ark 2.
Well, we are pretty dry for info, only so much we can talk about
It would be interesting if ark2 has a "parenting" stat on dinos. Have breeding tames raise their own babies, and the stat could impact the quality of offspring. Good parent/s? Strong healthy baby. Bad parent/s? Stat loss and/or chance of baby not surviving. With some ability to intervene by hand-raising
What's your idea of executing this?
Idk, I'm not a programmer, it's just a concept.
We've got maewings and incubators, s+ gives the hatchery/nanny, so most of this is already halfway implemented, I just think it would be more streamlined and realistic to smash all those functions onto parenting dinos
i’d love to be able to whistle creatures with my mic rather than a radial menu
I just hope whistle all isn't easy to hit by accident and somewhere you have to want to whistle all. The amount of times accidently hitting that and ending up with dinos packed together of flyers just floating above you >_>
Kinda hoping following pack dinos are more viable in Ark2. Conan Exiles has followers in your 'party' in both PvE and PvP that teleport to you if they get stuck on something so you'll never lose them in a forest or stuck on a rock somewhere
Honestly wouldn't hurt my feelings if they removed that whistle all with the amount of times I've accidently hit that whistle all in the wheel.
I've probably spent over 10 hours searching for lost packmates in Ark, or when a server lags and critters launch into the stratosphere by touching a rock
My favorite joke is telling other tribes they can slide in ark by holding B ( whistle wheel key) and pressing forward
Other channels exist, try keeping this one on topic.
A dino icon on the map would solve that, any tame you have out gets a dino icon as well as tribe members where you can see you, your tribe, and your dinos on the map
That would get very cluttered very very fast
maybe no more whistles in ark 2
who knows
maybe we stomp on the ground now
I support this statement
and better taming groups somehow
i have never been able to use them maybe its just cause im dumb
I can't use them because I don't have numpad lol
somehow numpad never worked for me (yes it was on!)
I think there was some random pressing z to make it work, but I don't know. I couldn't change those keybinds, and I never had the numpad
I’d keep it but make it simpler
funny id keep it and make it more complex
tho for peeps without keyboard this might be a challenge
using the radial wheel on xbox is kinda tedious already no
Radial wheels are actually the most common now and days for consoles and for those that use controller on PC
idk why people use a controller on pc
its just limiting yourself in efficiency
and reachable skill i feel like
Cause it feels better in some games
hmm to each their own i guess
if i move around with a joystick in ark i think i would vomit cause its slow and not as reliable imo
just cant keep up with a mouse
That actually a myth, neither are faster or slower.. It comes down to what you're personally more fluid with.
if i drag my mouse across the table i guarantee i turn around quicker than a joystick
and if you do that for years you can do it pretty precisly
That has nothing to do with control type. That more sensitivity level in settings.
Yes you can
never heard of that but could be a cool featute
I can tornado my character on Ark with a controller
Twitch aim is usually easier on mouse and tracking on joysticks from my experience
I also think controllers work best when games use orthogonal controls…because WASD simply can’t do smooth diagonals like twin stick can
For aim a mouse is just 10x better, for movement a controller is 10x better
I'd replace "better" with "easier" on both but yes that sums it up lol
I would say better.
Controller has more range of motion, mnk is just more accurate
In a game with projectiles without aim assist mnk always always destroys controller
Precision is pretty much always worse on controller, true facts
There’s a reason auto-aim exists lmao
Precision on controller just takes longer to prefect than mouse and keyboard
Sometimes even if the mnk player is a bot they can often beat skilled controller players in games without aim assisg
Flicks are too op.
*it’s worse
Always will be. Which is fine, because controllers excel in other ways
In a melee centric game like elden and ark2, controller will probably be better
Depends heavily on the keybinds and the like. Monster hunter world definitely stresses the keyboard playstyle
they work pretty well on keyboard and mouse in my experience, although having extra mouse buttons usually helps a lot in that regard so you don't have to move you keyboard hand off of the wasd area
Me with elden ring
I had a great time on mouse and keyboard but with the combo heavy weapons like bow some of the key combos were a bit of a pain in the ass. Needed a lot of rebinding and tinkering
Yeah, that's the biggest issue with ark1 thst they need more customizability in ark2. If I can't change the keybinds on everything I will be frustrated lol
the only ones I really rebound was elden ring dodge roll to side mouse button and mhw 3rd attack button or whatever is also the shield key also to that
I had to bind things like slinger lock etc because it wasn’t working cleanly to use certain weapon combos and then use the slinger, etc etc
It’s not a problem but it is something that took getting used to
c is pretty reachable for the most part but I guess that would be another one that could be put on a different mouse button
what keybinds aren't changeable in ark?
Whistle groups, you can't get them off the numpad
That's the most obvious one to me, but there are others
Arrow keys is where I would put them lol. I would get 4 groups instead of 0
A radial wheel on g would be much better for it though
only ark keybind I need to change is the inventory key, why do game devs keep put it as i, they do realize that the key doesn't need to be the same letter as the action right, this isn't a turn based game where you can do that
I is the old school inventory button lmao
Yeah, I is pretty standard. It's a terrible spot though
First thing I do in any inventory game is set it to tab lol
I prefer “E” but tbh that’s likely more to do with when you started gaming than anything else
I like e for building and interact
Yup
Generally speaking though, I don't change keybinds unless they're just really unintuitive
Q for unequip, because that is so useful
I change every game I play to the keybinds for ark lol
Fair enough
So this week we will get the new creature announcement and hopefully some more ark 2 tidbits next week
Ark 2 gameplay on March 11th confirmed
Yes to the new creature, but no idea on the ARK 2 tidbit. I suspect it is monthly so probably the week after.
💀
Where’s the reference?
There isn't one, they were being sarcastic.
I wasn’t being sarcastic! It came to me in a dream last night.
I dreamed last night that this weekend Ced will accidentally upload the drive folder of all ARK II creatures
If they use drive that would be funny actually
Odds on Ark 2 being online-only? I'm actually shocked a game actually takes up more space than Destiny 2
Fairly low imo
Ark1 has a huge sp following, I don't imagine they'll get rid of that
Lets hope they discovered file compression
Outlook + Dropbox + Edge is the standard at WC
It would be nice if you could elect to not download the full SP stuff (if there’s even an appreciable difference in file size)
True, but hope there is a single player mode for us to test out builds
and strategies if there's a console like ark 1
Highly doubt there would be, seeing as how it's... literally all stuff that's in the other modes 😅
i doubt ark 2 is gonna be as big of a file as ark 1
ark 1 is probably gonna get smaller with ue5 already no?
its just that the base of the game sucks so much everything takes up lots of space
tho i dont have any idea how all of that works its just my thoughts
ark 1 wasn't the best optimized by a at the time small indie dev team as well. so with them being more experienced, bigger and having more funding i got a good ish feeling it's gonna be better
should be way smaller
hogwarts legacy is like 72gb and its an "open world" game
i doubt ark 2 will exceed that by a big amount
at launch likely not, a few years later it probably could
ofc with dlc and more additions
Boils down to efficiency I think
I'd be willing to bet that Ark 2 at launch will be no bigger than 80 gigs, but that's just a guess based on factors like the initial size of Ark 1 and the improvements that UE5 brings, but also the increased fidelity of the textures and such, being a current gen game
new ai system could also take some space for coding as it's more complex than ''robotic spider sense on dinos agro system'' we got currently for 90-95% of aggroing stuff
I think the largest files are videos and graphic assets?
I have a feeling Ark 2 DLCs won’t be about new maps. Which means, maybe, the size of the game won’t increase so much like it did in Ark 1.
we won't know until it happens, as is with everything regarding ark 2 gameplay and size
For sure
well same map different continent
