#ark-2
1 messages · Page 78 of 1
Okay, I'm rewatching the live-action TMNT movie....and not gonna lie..
I kind of want a form of Shredders armor in ARK-2.
☕ 🧐
ark 1 has needed better looking armor
as long as the turtles remain there i will take it
I’d love the armour to be more customizable and also better looking overall
For reference, I mean the 2014 live-action.
The shredder armor that's like a mini-mech.
it might be with the new component based crafting system
Ooooh, sounds fancy
''Construct your weapons and tools from a range of distinct modules to customize their look and functionality -- millions of possible combinations enable you to craft your own unique gear! The specific materials you choose will further affect the appearance of your items, with multiple options of resources found in unique regions of the world.''
I don't know, the idea of a big-ass metal armor that has spikes all over it, and said spikes can be shot from the hands sounds badass.
calm down cheesegrader fanboy
I love cheese!
i want armour that looks like a cheesegrader
. best offence and defence potential to go along with that allo skull club
Yk about the rex skull helmet? Imagine a full Dino bone armour set
I could see that being more a skin they add with events
Oooh for the Halloween event!
Now thinking about it, it could act as a tradeoff armor-set.
Able to take a lot of ballistic damage, but not but physical blunt damage.
And you can't ride any creatures while in it, but with the benefit of being a literal walking porcupine.
Cheesegrader army, rise up for war
I prefer farming chibis over skins during holiday events myself
I mean, you can do both simultaneously now
Replace tek dinosaurs with cheese grater dinosaurs
YEAH!
I had to make three vaults every event that how serious I went in for chibis
i would like to see cross breeding dinos have like a light med. and heavy line and be able to breed certain stats and abilities and get different combinations.
think of it like a lion tiger you get lyger
That sounds cool, although it should probably stay with similar dinos, like Carno/Rex, Thyla/Sabertooth, Argy/Ptera, etc
Argy is a mammal, and ptera is a reptile- how would that work?
say mammal with mammal and reptile so on like ocean animals same type
so that that way not so much code to type for now
mamm with rhino
argy with gryph
higher weight gryph
see
I’m thinking raptor/deinonychus, rex/giga, etc
Argy/Snow Owl
dolphin with whale higher health but give it less damage take the lower stat
yes argy snow owl argy with heat vision
it dont have to be a million things just some rare cross breeding sometimes you just get argent sometimes just an ol snow owl
make it a rare even
something fun that when you kill all the boss's gives you a reason to play
lmao daedon and wolf self healing wolf
That would be really really neat, it would be both useful and a fun trophy tame
I think that'd be way too much time and resources to put into, personally.
it can be a few animals to start with and say you have to get or do something to learn a DNA type and take time to even study cross breeding
It could even do a combination, like possibilities of Argy and Snow Owl:
Weight/Healing
Damage/Infared
Weight/gliding
Damage/healing
etc..
lol breeding and stuff was some of the best parts for me the boss's were meh once you did them that was it
Basically be the mutation type instead of stat watching
massive base build yawnnnnn ok did that boring also
yes
improved mutations over stat breeding
its a freaking alien ship for reals
why not
I like where your head is at, but the methods... maybe not so much 😅
Breeding for muts is the single worst mechanic in Ark, make crossbreeding species a minigame or something and you have me
it would take time to type out a full spred sheet on breedable think easy way pikmin of kibble work kinda like that certain dinos certain ability to breed with each other then only certain stats can be shared or mutated and looks moders have been making mods like this for a long time
Like the Bioshock puzzles, but you insert genes in a sequencer or something maybe 🤩
If breeding mutation was appearance and abilities of cross breeding, there would be some very........interesting looking dinos
Always hoped that they'd do creature mashups with the mutagen when I first heard about it
I was hoping It'd actually do more then increasing levels and boss requirements.
Yeah 🫤
Like c'mon, it's literally called 'muta'gen.
Could've done something else like, giving a random mutation on a creature. Or had a creature like the Ferox that gets mutated whenever you feed it some, or some shit.
I'm glad it did what it did, but it could've been so much more
That's how I feel with every official DLC.
'Good, but could've been better with more time and less engine limitations'
One change to breeding I think would make it better, instead of a 2ft to 100yds want to go on a walk, cuddle, or snack. Make the imprints require actually using the baby dinos.
Example:
Baby- This is where imprint is feeding
Juvenile- This is where you walk them
Adolescent- This is where they can move at their full speed, imprint would either be attack specific dino, harvest dino, or at this stage you could mount and have to travel so far as a bonding concept.
I’m all for making raising babies a more fun and enjoyable experience
kinda agree for the dlc, except gen 1. it just sucked all around
I like lunar with flyers enabled on unofficial, it was a good element dust map then
and tek tame map
Tek Raptors might be my favorite mid size dinos
i loved deinons since they were introduced
Had a tribe member that did to, they were the only reason he would go to Val lol
val was kind of a meh map and after a while the lighting would glitch and i had to mess with the gamma. days became blindingly bright and night became pitch black
Val Helm castle was a nice base, although it only possible really to fully use on unofficial cause the dugout there was considered a cave so had to have cave building on
that was such a disappointment
don't give us this nice reference area if we can't build there
Worked out for me cause I had just happened to be on an unofficial that I was a server admin for lol
But that was probably the shortest cluster to live cause the owner had it so boosted the only challenge was boss battles, you could literally fight a giga on foot.
The reason boss battles were tough cause he had the difficulty .5 for them, so like the tek cave everything was level 1500
imagine 2 level 1500 gigas
The owner didn't even try to kill them, he used pheromone darts and lured them into the lava
But no the sheer over boosted rates outside of boss battles just made that cluster so boring couldn't keep a player base.
But that server the only reason I have done all the boss battles except Gen2 and SE cause neither of those existed at the time.
Someone have new from Ark 2 release
Only information currently is it is slated for June
The pins have everything confirmed
take a drink
Is ark 2 Microsoft exclusive?
At launch, will come to PS later
Allegedly, I'm not even sure I'd consider Xbox Game Pass release timeframes as anything more than speculation
So nobody corrected this?
Argentavis is an avian, a bird…not a mammal 💀
Thank you
Are pterosaurs reptiles?
Tbf they are a lasagna
everything is just a unique spaghetti mold
Yes
Dinosaurs were the bridge between reptiles and birds. Pterosaurs and marine reptiles have no relationship to birds
i miss pterosaurs
As you should. Though I miss trilobites more
we got horseshoe crabs at least
I love horseshoe crabs
Pretty cute, but biiiiiig nope unexpectedly finding one bumping your foot when not expecting it
☕
do you guys think they will optimize ark 2 maybe well enough so you need similar specs to ark1 on medium settings or will they make ark2 a failure with optimization too and youll need something like alienware level to run it on max graphics and whatever specs u need for ark 1 on max settings to run ark 2 on lowest settings?
so should i with my laptop that can run ark 1 on medium to max settings (its a bit laggy on max settings) be able to run ark2 smoothly?
on medium maybe
im not saying ark2 on max settings , even lowest
if they wanted the game out unoptimzed they probably would've done so already. it's likely gonna be better optimised than Ark 1 in general
i just want to know if i can play it on my pc on day 1 or untill they release it on geforce now so i can play it on max settings there
naaa you need dual 4090 nvlink to run minimal ark2 grafics
''sigh'' goodbye my car
you cant know till its out
what do you think about the space? will it be 400gbs~ too?
🤷♂️ prob not
i only have 1tb so i may need to give up one of them if thats the case
i dont see ark1 being enjoyable if ark2 is done right
space you need about 2tbits of space pretty sure for base game
i think thats the purpose of ark2 , unless they horribly fail at it
just not much there besides moderate player counts if ark2 has 80% the same stuff and more
if they do fail then at least you dont worry about all this then
but id hold off getting it day1
week 2 sure
week 1 will be effectively the largest public test
ahh ure saying cus of lagg and other stuff like this or just bugs?
i wonder if buying it pre-earlyaccess-release will affect the price of me buying it once its out and i see some gameplay
see what others find out
this we can know because its how its with all games , but idk exactly
should i buy it day 1 ? or will a discount come fast?
i dont remember ark 1 having any discounts for like a year or half a year or so
i mean back in 2015 when it aired early access
buying day 1 or day 8 shouldnt be any different price wise
ahh then ill buy it anyway
by day 8 youll know if the games worth dumping money on
no worries i already did this with ESO when it was 120$ lmao
it will likely cost less than a normal game due to it being early access
now its like 10$ or 20$
yes , but for me it would be double , i have a wife(she loves ark as much as me) and i cant not buy it for her the same time i buy it for myself
🤔 it will be my late 2023 valentines day gift
hopefully not too late lol
@mint swan
i wonder if they all immersive gameplay , like in ark1 primitive+ with the immersion of crops and things youre able to cook and the many incredients then stuff with firewood , processing leather and so on
if theyll add*
They should add seasonings and more dishes like soup and salads and stuff
And different seasonings should give you different buffs
Just make it have PvP and it's a good game 🤷♂️
Part of me hopes yes if it's actually interesting or makes sense. Maybe a way to 'compress' materials into high density storage to save inventory space
What makes you think it doesn't?
Got a feeling it will be hard pve
Ark 2 PS4?
hahahah no, even if it comes to playstation it's only next gen so only ps5
Ignore this feeling, Ark2 is going to be PvP
With it being unreal engine 5 then probably no
It's literally been confirmed from initial reveal to be PvP
Why do people keep thinking it's PvE
God hoping there’s no host barrier so me and my friend can play freely🙏
It's comical at this point
bc people don't bother looking up the official info, also it's still just both pvp and pve and i hope it isn't as pvp focused as Ark 1, i like that they're trying to give both modes equal attention instead of favoring one over another
👀
maybe "craft" resource packs which are like as much as a normal stack of that resource , once you press E on it to use , it gives you that resource , but i dont see how this is of any help other than not having to craft more vaults or big storages... it wont help you craft big blueprints... this idea wont make sense🤔
specially when so much % of ark1 is designed as PvP, why would they make ark2 pve only
i ended up switching to pvp because i felt like i was missing so much of the game
so much content is like wtf is point of this in pve?
security cameras to watch pt's fly by?
cruise missiles?
yep same , at some point i just use the pvp stuff whenever i fight wild dinos just for fun , like c4 and misilles and cluster grenades and so on
i hope ark 2 brings back the feeling of old ark
old ark as in when it was very similar to the actual prim + ?
yeah
prim+ was fun
i want less tek
i think thats been confirmed thats the goal though isnt it
that vin 'turned off tek' in the trailer
more dino warfare and actually being scared in the jungle
i just feel that its gonna be a mix of far cry primal and conan exiles
far cry because they promised stealth system like mask scent or hide away from their sight... and hiding away from npc sight only makes me think of 2 systems... sneaking in Elder scrolls or fallout and far cry stealth system , all rest of games most npcs already know where u are , like in ark 1 , you can never ever sneak on a dino (a dino thats not distracted by something)
and conan exiles because the promised third person gameplay... it could look like conan exiles , or maybe like the witcher , or very realistic like dark souls
dude that sounds sick except for third person will it only be third person
Well then, I think you'll enjoy the fact that there's literally none usable by players, just environmental tek, confirmed by the devs
but i think this game is rated for everyone so Only PVP like direct pvp not against a tamed dino , will have souls like difficulty especially if the enemy player is as skilled as yoj
thats exciting
Not officially confirmed yet.
Whe
Whe
It kinda has, though?
Also honestly bro what are you on about lol, allllllllll over the place
I know about ceds post, but it does kinda seem like there will be some tek dinos for component crafting atleast.
As in the saddles
Highly doubt that, in any way, we'll see tek dinos again
We may harvest tek from the environment, like fallen ship parts
Yeah. Just dont think its " confirmed" until we see a gameplay trailer or post talking about
We play blackjack with aratai
Fair enough, I suppose
If you count tek scrap as the tek tier sure, but I think tek tier in the ark 1 sense has been repeatedly identified as an ark 1 theme that isn’t coming over to ark 2
Yeah, I'd imagine probably not too much more than crafting components and not actually its own tier outside of maybe reclaimed scrap fortifications
whats the timeline supposed to be in relation to ark1 story
and didnt they just have some xbox conference , iassume nothing said there?
that xbox direct was just for Minecraft legends, Redfall, Forza and Elder scrolls online.
Ark 2 is set some time after the events of Ark Genesis Part 2, not a prequel like some people questionably think 😂 .
In regards to updates we will get more concept art and gameplay tidbits leading up to the gameplay trailer
My guess is probably 2 years after? Enough time for species from Genesis to spread out a bit and for VinDiago to get new grunts for all the new creatures on Arat
But immediately after the crash is also pretty likely
Doesn’t explain Meeks
Meeka
Could be a clone only adopted as daughter.
She has one
Theory stands 😂
I still doubt the “No tek” declaration will stand for the whole Ark 2 cycle. I mean Jesse and Jeremy already talked about some kind of environmental tek that survivors wouldn’t fully control.
I will wait and see
And I’m not talking about the tek tier, as it is today, being implemented in the new title. I’m talking about some technological structures and machines being implemented.
So... not tek? You mean like industrial tier?
My guess is at best we'll get a convenient all-in-one crafting station kinda like the Replicator towards End Game
But visually like the Fabricator
more or less just scrap metal from either the drop ship or the ring
We can call it that. But my point is at some point Ark 2 won’t be so “primitive” 🤣
"primitive" compared to Tek
Primitive is primitive. I believe we will have more modern structures and items that wouldn’t fit in the primitive concept.
Just a guess, of course
Well, yeah, they said "primarily primitive" not "only primitive"
Sure hope so, that was QoL as hell
There’s that indeed. Good call.
The exo mek was the best qol item
I would imagine we'll see like, the very start of industrial tier base game, perhaps. Like a fabricator-esque structure and some basic machined items (better pick/hatchet, better farming tools maybe, proper metal irrigation, etc.)
Probably not metal tier structures, per se, but at least some QoL items
I wouldn’t exclude anything actually 🤣 I’ve seen them changing their mind before. But I really hope the too op stuff will be gone for good: like hovers, tek suits, transmitters, cryos etc
Tek generators, tek lights, tek gates etc are ok to me
They will probably rename them and implement
We won't see tek tier, on that I am almost 100% sure
Who says we'll even get generators?
Or powered things at all
Aren’t we just guessing here?
I guess we will have technological stuff. Official info and based on trailers, the game will be primitive
guys there is any official ark 2 release date?
That's another drink, fellas
Take a shot everytime someone say somthing stupid in ark 2 chat
You'll die of alcohol poisioning
i'm gonna be almost fatally wasted at this point 🍺 🤮
I've seen better days
That's another sip of beer
We're all Calicotherium at this point
At this the only thing I hope for are more concepts during the crunch. Though they'll probably just show us a ptera and the plant lizard next
ARK 2 is available in a PS4?
might be 1 concept art every month with a tidbit inbetween, so my guess if that happens is every 2 weeks we might get something new
I wonder if they’ll not make the mistake of adding the tether thing. I know it makes performance better and all but it sucks sm
I'll miss Cryos
I'd be ok with this
i'm basing it off the image file from the concept arts bc they include ...monthly.... in them, but iirc that also was with the anky and we got nothing in December 😅
If nondedicated servers are a thing, then yes there will be a tether
Dammit
I hate it sm, I’ve almost killed my sister so many times because the tether drags the other player around with the host LMAO
It's necessary. Withouts it consoles would crash frequently, and lots of pcs would too
This is horrific out of context
Just remove tether and official servers are shut down
Oh, well I’d rather tether than constant crashing so ig that makes sense
Well we have the new tech so tether is no longer needed
My honest reaction
i imagine a lot of it would just be 'fixed mesh exploit'. the only time them fixing an exploit has affected me was when they 'fixed' a mesh exploit on extinction and it ended up straight up killing/destroying anyone who set foot on that ramp leading up to the king titan arena
I think they make it super vague to stop people from trying to replicate it. But why does it matter if it’s already patched lmao
Because it could bring attention to methods that could lead to more exploits that they want to keep from making common knowledge. Or how they detected exploits in the first place
if the fix gets broken again later on, then they just told everyone how to do it
plus letting people know what was fixed and how it was fixed will direct them to how to find other exploits
and i also said what
and that's their choice
Sometimes I wish they’d focus more on game breaking glitches than exploits tbh
Like the deletion glitch when transferring Dino’s through the obelisk
Rip my favourite argy
I never uploaded items or dinos to an ob, I just kept stuff in my inventory and waited the few minutes for the timer on my cryo from putting up the dino I use to get there.
Also lost two wyverns to the game refusing to save and then crashing
That’s definitely a smart but kinda time consuming way to do it lol
would you rather lose a few minutes, or lose the dino?
I mean playing Ark official is time consuming so that nothing in comparison and safer. I have only lost items transferring by inventory once in the 100,000 times of transferring.
I’m just saying doing this every single time, because I used to go across maps often multiple times a day.
Not saying you’re wrong though.
+when that happened I didn’t know that glitch was a thing
Cant wait for this weeks crunch to release only for it to tell us SOTF is out.
and the flood of people asking about evo boost
well its actually we gonna see how much ark1 gonna still have support since this month would be love's event and if they do it they are going back whit their word 100% again
plus we might get a new bone to chew this month
will xbox and play staton (when/if) it comes out be cross playay
probably not
Do y’all think ark1 will still get updates (other than bug fixes) after ark2 comes out?
Due to timed exclusivity as Kris said unlikely and honestly I'm not sure you would want to especially if you play PvP because that would put you at a huge disadvantage.
We know Win10/Xbox and Steam both release in that timed exclusive together, but where Epic wasn't specifically mentioned but Epic and Steam cross play on Ark 1 so it probably safe to say they're included.
ok
They might just turn on holiday events as that a simple tuner they can turn on and off for a little while.
That would make sense. I doubt they’LL gives us anymore Dino’s and maps though
Especially when they said they're gonna have SoTF develop along side Ark 2
I mean not even breeding as a topic, even the amount of time spent building up base, gathering resources, gear, taming.. Exclusivity would make it near impossible for anyone to catch up in a PvP enviroment.
A non-Ark comparison as a concept would be someone trying to get on Madden UT competitively when it hit EA Access 6 months after release lol. Ark would be at least 10x harder than that
btw I'm a PvE player admitting that so it doesn't even effect me 😂
Ark2 is advertised as completely crossplay. So xbox, ps, and pc would likely be crossplay
Playstation 'when' they get it.
It's advertised as cross platform modding not play
If not by default, most likely the modding community will do that job.
I mean, personally I would like to see it entirely crossplay capable
I sure wouldn't
"mod.io is a cross-platform UGC solution, supporting 11 game systems and stores. By partnering with mod.io, we are connecting ARK 2 with a complete ecosystem in which mods can exist, be presented, and accessed in-game. We’re excited to see our vision for Mods powered by proven tech, and deliver the best possible experience for players, everywhere they can play ARK 2."
It expands the number of people I can play with lol
That's not at all how that works
It is in my schizophrenia/idiotic mindset.
For me, it expands the amount of people who are potentially aimbotting or are M&K gods playing with console players 😂
Well, easy fix to that is make it melee centered combat lol
soulslike_sub.png
Target-lock, blocks, dodges, combos, staggers, special attacks, emphasizing player-skill-based action.
I guess, but there's bound to be ranged play at some point, lol
Would be silly to think there wouldn't
It is melee centered just from the founder note
those bow models from the first trailer are just to troll, if we go with this logic 🤣
anyway, let's hope the animated series isn't on hbo
atleast i got prime video over here, so i wouldn't be mad with Prime
Me neither
Do we really want Amazon with an influence over how that goes though
They did Legends of Vox-Machina well, to be fair.
Cause they allowed the original creators to have their way with it
idc, i just want to watch it without having to use a vpn or having to use a free site just bc the site isn't available in my country
If that the case, no harm no foul let's go with that. 👍
I think the issue with their recent shows is that they've been getting shitty showrunners.
Yeah, speaking of which here's hoping the Fallout show does well, despite Todd having direct influence🤞
As long as Emil doesn't write any episodes though, I think we're good
fallout getting show too?
It's been getting a show, where you been? Lol
watching last of us among other stuff
To be fair, it's not like they've been marketing it
Fair enough, I mean it got a pretty big drop of stuff recently did it not?
hell i even know one piece gonna get live action but dint know about fallout, they must work whit wildcard cause i dont know a damn think
This seems to be the year for video game shows lol
And good ones, at that
now let's hope it's on a good and accessible streaming site that is available world wide 😅
Hope it's on crunchyroll
Be better for them to just put it on their YouTube at that point
That's seems baseless tbh
Ah yes, and get pocket change from viewership.
do we have an estimated price for ark 2 or is it still unknown?
Unknown, but as of right now probably less then 60$ USD since it'll release in early-access
Ok thats good
U
So Ark 1 being converted to UE5, Ark 2 possibly 2024?
I don't think the two are related lol
They wouldn't have delayed the next batch of income to push out a redo of the old one
Doesn't make sense lol
let them believe their own weird conspiracy theories, it's funnier when they think it's real
we need honey badger in ark 2 : immune to yuti roars and resistant to all effects such as fire or freeze or poison etc
immune to mammoth roars too
why not just ask to be immortal, see all problems solve
You can buy whole movies on youtube, we've been over this as well lmao
which ones? idk any except for ark 👀
Read up a little further
.
I'm afraid even rich people around the world wouldn't have much of a choice but to pirate it if it ends up releasing on HBO 😂
besides HBO is in shambles only thing that could perhaps save it is the new slate of DC movies coming
i am clueless as to what happened to hbo
Ever since discovery merged with WB its got into a lot of mess
weird
iirc they also basicly canned all animated shows, but kept that shitshow called Velma on it
''if it ain't watchable without a vpn, it's off to the pirates den''
I doubt that that even can, you seen the amount of people upset over James Gunn's "new direction"? The movies are going to be trash without Henry Cavill, 100%
He's producing or something too iirc
Kinda excited just because we love a wholesome nerd king just out there vibing and living his truth, but never been a 40K fan in particular myself. Know that he is, though, pretty big into it as well obviously 😅
Yeah I heard many were upset, if thats the case then its doomed for good
Netflix is a good platform y'know to reach your audiences and more
Friendly reminder this is Ark 2, not the animated series channel. Please bring it back on topic.

we need ark 2 more than ever the world is in darkness and only ark 2 can save us
Gonna be in darkness for a while then! 🤣
You have a sad life
Sons of the Forest is going to carry in survival entertainment until Ark 2 comes out
(for me at least)
just call that man out like that 😂
Yeah it's pretty sad I have no self worth and live in ark night and day
nothing but darkness
I cannot live, I cannot die
such is the life of an ark zombie
Does anybody have info on ark 2 release date?
rumor is june for xbox
2023
Anything else you hear is a rumor that’s debatably substantiated. Release is for pc and Xbox. Now if you’ll excuse me 🍺
🍹
🍻
ok
June isn't even rumoured to be the release, that's just the end of the target window that Microsoft has said.
That's ... what a rumor is
My point is people are saying June because Xbox said June but they have never said June.
Thus, rumored to be June without any factual confirmation. Aka, a rumor
all hail pixel
You're not getting what i'm saying but that's fine. It's a moot point anyway.
Does Ark 2 have any established story yet?
I hope so
Ark1's story. Aside from that, VinDiago wants to shut down Tek
Have there been any developments on whether aliens will be in ark2?
None, aside from confirmation in the reveal trailer
His point is: the rumor is Ark 2 deadline release date is June. Based on the banner we can say it can be released between now and the end of June.
ok
Give us the release date reeee
29 this month
we will give you a date give us youre money first lol
Yeee
did they hint at or shown any sign that there will be any gameplay trailer before the game release?
They did state it outright, yes.
Yes
''Since the announcement of ARK 2, we've watched the community's excitement and anticipation rise as we continued to work diligently in the background to define the new survival experience. Despite anticipating our next showing of ARK 2 to be a gameplay showcase, we see the hunger and eagerness for more ARK 2 information, and we get it. We’ve decided to give you a peek behind the curtain and begin showcasing more ARK 2 tidbits regularly as we lead up to the first gameplay trailer. We hope you enjoy these appetizers, and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on the main course''
when was this? months ago or weeks ago?
2 weeks ago alongside the new concept arts for the brachio and stego
ohh i see , so in the next 1 or 2 months we should expect a trailer
could be, could be sooner, could be later. but we will get more leading up to it
the game will be best "playtested" in summer cus kids and summer holiday , if they release it in winter its mostly gonna be exam time and not too many ppl playing a lot
its their choice but the game being released like ark1 , as in they need ppl to play it and find bugs and so on , its best for them to release in summer
im thinking gameplay trailer - april or may and game release in july or august
if we barely get a gameplay trailer in july or august , then def game is coming on christmas lol
Tbh wildcard has a habit of releasing trailers at the same time they release content lol
Yep, animated series trailer came with SOTF, ARK 2 trailer came with the fjordur map
🍻
you know exactly as much as we do
Probably another two years tbh lol
I mean, seeing as we don't even know when it is coming out on xbox and pc, couldnt tell you lol
I see more " when out on PS5/will it be on PS4" than people asking when it'll be out period
That's when drinks make clinks
H
did WC say anything about delays of the release, besides the gameplay? i mean i expect there to be one but just want to know if it's official or sth
still meant to appear this year, no?
all we know its on pin of this chat
From what we know, yes.
If it was delayed until after 2023, I'd be surprised if they announced that before september
Depends on how many ARK 2 reveals they've got to show us. They said they'll show us them more regularly, so that means they got multiple. They've only shown us stuff once so far. Today's Crunch will be 2 weeks since then, so if they don't have anything today then they could be doing a reveal every month, and if that is what they call regularly then I interpret that as being gameplay quite a bit further out unless they only have 2 reveals to show us.
Yeah, when they said regularly I was kind of hoping for weekly, but this 2 week gap is essentially suggesting (to me) that gameplay footage is much farther out than I thought. Especially when @ survivetheark tweeted "the next thing we post related to ark 2 will be gameplay" and then promptly tweeted something that wasn't gameplay :/
only reason they switched it up was bc the community kept crying for more news
Which I respect. We're probably more excited than they are at this point. I definitely think they could've pushed back the reveal of ark 2, but at least we aren't in a Metroid Prime 4 scenario.
Pushing it back would've made for less discontent from the fanbase
I hope this gets released this year but if not at least we'll have ark1 super ultra remastered edition
with fresh wiped officials and fresh characters
Server saves will carry over and the workshop will be yeeted so...get scammed ig @hazy elm
noooooooooo they need to do a full wipe cause people still have bugged blueprints and dna
They tried getting rid of it legit with full wipes of the items but it wasn't effective
besides official pvp will have their dna back up to decent numbers in no time even if full wipe
I like omnis idea legacy old servers, with ultra hd unreal 5 fresh new servers for pvp at least
Do u know Ultra HD means 4K? You're paying for my 4090 👍🏽
Also there will probably be a few new servers to go with the Remaster but not many probably
nah man we need a full wipe
it's time it's been years and there are good reasons for it
That's the fun part, nobody cares
good that'll make it easier
Good reasons bad reasons fuck all reasons, official have and will suck 👍🏽
That's why you play unofficial or singleplayer
Depends on the server & the community
The other good reason to do a wipe is content
people might actually log in more for a bit if there are fresh wipes of all official pvp servers esp with a new unreal 5 update
The UE5 update is not a magic fix all 👍🏽
It will make the game look better probably
it wont create lasting change
Y'all are treating the UE5 update like it's a godsend
It really isn't as great as people are making it out to be
UE5 update will help the game out as it's a newer engine still in development vs an engine from 2014 or older
The older engine was one of the reasons for the terrible lag in pvp
No?
idk whats changing with the ue5 port
Optimisation will come only if the code is written as such
Just like that UE5 will not improve performance
As long as it is optimized around the idea of 1000 turrets shooting in a given area at once
If anything the updated effects will increase GPU load
I'll be happy
i mean they did use a modified version of ue4 that likely is limited to some capacity even outside of programming decisions the devs made years ago
but idk if the ue5 port is gonna change this much
It will change quite a bit
You're increasingly sounding like an average unaware PvP player, please don't...
wait and see
you're talking about a 10 year old engine vs a still in dev one
Unity is 12 years old I think, Subnautica released in 2015 🙂
If you want to look at how good recent UE5 remasters have been look at the Witcher III next gen edition
Idk what that has to do with this game but true unity is great for certain projects but would suck for ark
"Beautiful game becomes riddled with multiple game breaking bugs in exchange for good lighting"
ark is already broken tbf
I mean that's more a dev issue and cd project red has been very slow to fix things lately
took them a year to fix Cyberpunk or sorry up to 2 years actually
i think most peoples tolerance for bugs is absurdly low outside sandbox communities
Wildcard is not known to fix things super fast either 😀
Unreal Engine 5 is simply like your soil, if I build a thatch hut on it it will be a fucking thatch hut
If I build a mansion on the UE4 soil it will still be a fucking mansion
ik a ton of people that love cyberpunk in spite of the bugs, tho they love games about the future in general
Maybe that thatch hut will be less prone to erosion but does it matter if I get a mansion in exchange?
UR5 also has the new pixel rendering called nano which looks great
render changes could be interesting if utilized
Needs to be added manually for every asset and does not work with transparent assets
It also might allow them to better deal with meshing in pvp
You're just reciting what every other brainless guy has been chanting since this was announced
bruh
i dont think meshing changes here
Please get educated on how game development actually works, atleast somewhat superficially before talking about these things
nanite just changes how things render
I don't want to be rude but frankly I am tired
No no the old engine was limiting them a lot
not physical holes in the map
Of people treating UE5 remaster as the next messiah
No bruh don't you know UE5 makes game and finds bugs on your behalf, you leave a giant ass hole UE5 will patch it up with some good looking terrain
Now with unreal 5 we will have the answer to our salvation going forward as ur5 ushers in the next greatest ark1 ultra hd animations, rendering, and lighting for orgasmic scenery
Orgasmic scenery
sighs
lol
Everyone who has played the matrix demo knows ur5 is amazing
even explosions look better
Everyone who has a brain doesn't blindly trust what he's told
i think its more useful as a way to get ark1 team trained with ue5 for when they eventually shut down ark1 support and transition to ark2
there isnt any saving ark1 as is with or without ue5
because a lot of mechanic issues are separate from engine
Exactly what people are failing to understand
I hope not
ark2 failing means wc dies imo
You guys don't understand people will play ark 1 for years
who cares if you play if you dont pay
Everyone here cares
youre not gonna be able to just make 4992 dlcs
No bruh UE5 will come and fix Ankys flying up, as soon as corpse starts ragdolling UE5 will come and using it's omnipotence fix everything
otherwise we wouldn't be on a games discord talking about it
everyone here isnt gonna shell out the several million itll take to feed wc employees
not out of the goodness in their hearts
All hail our great lord UE5
Actually ur5 will add in new dino ai
Yeah bro I heard about those auto patch developments UE5 has, amazing !!
UE5 our SAVIOUR 🙏🏽
does ue5 have some sort of insane cpu optimization
Yeah UE5 comes with WorkGPT built in!!!
And you will say PIXEL omg you were right lol
unreal 5 is amazing idk what I was saying
lol
Yes sure, we will say "PIXEL omg you were right" and then laugh as you get flamed by an angry mob for defending the remaster when something breaks
It's the least we can do before the angry mob finishes you 👍🏽
It'll be glorious trust me
Yeah earlier it needed an i5 3rd gen minimum
Now it needs i5 8th gen
So when's my 4090 getting delivered?
You got my shipping post office right I can pick it up from there 😀👍🏽
When you buy it and look at tracking date? 😂
I'll need to look at orgasmic nature in Ultra HD
They need ARK 1 for backup just in case yeah
Like you said
exactly and the option to further enhance and improve it
they've become braindead
Ultra HD means 4K in case you didn't know
What I've been trying to say but we should trust him
But we definitely need a full official pvp wipe across all servers that are pvp at least
Good luck pushing any fps at 4K without a 4090 💀
The only people playing Ark 1 after 2 releases are Xbox One and PS4 forever lol... PS5/Switch for only the duration of timed exclusives
If ARK II is crazy expensive at launch I'll hold off for a few months
It will depend on how the remaster release goes
Unlikely. There will be alot still playing ARK 1 regardless of the platform they play on.
❌ doubt
What the you consider expensive? There going to be a standard version that will be either $60 or $70
They've said ark 2 is only primitive
Initially sure but it's doubted in the long run
If it’s a success, I don’t doubt Ark 1 might outlive for a couple more years on all platforms
That the best part, no more OP tek
ark 1 will be the futuristic version with tek, and ark 2 will be the primitive ark version
How's that compare to ARK I at launch? Idk about USD pricing
yeah
No more free taming hovering safely over a giga head
Nope just grappling up high to a tree instead
In my region when I bought ARK I (before Gen1) it was ₹1099, so very affordable
i hope the additions like fjordhawk were not seriously considered balance wise because its so bad lol, i hope wc only added it to spite pvp
goes for basically everything theyve added for combat
monster hunter does not cost 2 thousand dollars
thats not a dollar
you foreigners with your weird punctuation
using your environment to your advantage is not the same
They’ve spent six months, with a small dev staff, to finish ark 1. Don’t expect Ark 1 price for the second title.
I am now thoroughly convinced you're devoid of optic nerves as well 💀👍🏽
If it's around MHW pricing still good
HZD pricing would be pushing it, in that case I'll hold off
EA should be cheap ish
Honestly ark 1 was an indie project when it launched as CharlieAlpha said, ark 2 will be prob a full AAA title or close
MHW is AAA and so is HZD
ark 1 was god awful in teh beginning
Depends then I guess
I have no idea what will be the price, but, if it’s too expensive, you can always play it through game pass 🤣
everyone is asking $70 usd for game now
Sigh…..I just wanna play ark 2 🥺
$70 usd is the base price normally
Is this Monopoly money?
No it's INR 😂
1$ ≈ ₹80
Let me check exchange rates
damn i thougut conversion was like 1 to 60
I see 2-3 versions of the game getting released more than likely to be honest. That seems to be the standard in the game industry.
Standard version priced at $70 on current gen/PC
Deluxe priced usually around $20-$30 higher
Collection edition which ranges anywhere from $120 and up on average depending on rather or not there real life items in it.
yep
5 bucks isn’t much, then
Was in 2018
there will likely be an upwards of $200 usd collectors ark 2 version
Anything about ₹3,000 is considered expensive
le inflation
The good news is ark 2 will likely make the more than ark 1 made them for the last 8 years
in a matter of months
That’s 40 dollars, right?
Pride roles is bad
Pretty much
I can see this, have like miniature version of dinos to be collectables.
Look, I believe Ark 2 price will be around that
US is also richer so a 40 dollar game is about average
But Steam has this regional price thing
Gets adjusted by region 100%
And I think has a nice exchange rate
Maybe it will cost you 1500 INR
So 1,099
Anything below 2,000 instsbuy
Epic doesn’t count
^
They gave it away free on steam as well
no mod support 💀 💀 💀 💀
The game came out 5 years ago to so you can't compare the price now to a release product..
steam was a 1 time thing so far
True, I’ve forgotten
Ark 1 was released 2015 in june
But well
My point @.@
Its also better to work with just one engine with both games aswell
Yeah I'm looking at wayback machine
Don’t expect anything like that when Ark 2 releases
I am pretty sure even adjusting for inflation it'll still sell incredibly well in far less time
Unless you plan to wait some years to play it
The benefit is that imagine if someone gifts me a Steam gift card in USD
I get like 2x the value
Easy life hacks 😎
I did that a couple years ago, had my cousin send over a card and paid him in cash when he visited later
realistic I think Ark 1 only gets tunable settings turned on and off for events after Ark 2 releases so UE5 upgrade and whatever happens before release to be honest
Being a homophobe is worse, buddy
I don’t know, man. Ark 1 was a huge success, it will be hard to do it again.
ark2 may or may not outshine ark1
I think we'll be playing both
It will be a big surprise to me if they do
since its alr on like a gajillion platforms
They'll likely keep adding content to ark 1 for awhile if they know what's good for em'
Ratio
or not
BUT game pass does a good job marketing games, so it’s possible
I know it was cringe but I had to adjust
idk how important gamepass is
Just off improved movement, souls-like combat, and 10x manipulative building. I'm uninstalling Ark 1 after Ark 2 releases. The only version of Ark 1 I'll play is SoTF
ark 2 just sounds very different from the first game
sotf releasing right when im about to overload on school credits 💀
Problem officer?
That not a bad thing
It’s important in a way we will probably see announcements like “Ark 2 hits 20 million players number”
it's not always a good idea to stray too far from a good formula
ark2 please release on a summer 🙏
Aka New Coke
Very, it's one of the best deals in gaming, and that's coming from someone who hates subscription services with every fiber of his being
You want to heat your room in summer?
It doesn’t mean it sold 20 million copies, but 20 million people tried, because of game pass
noted and noted@past wind @tropic crag
i have adapted
Only people I see having an issue with Ark 2 will be PvP tek using tryhards, I see everyone else adapting nicely.
ARK on UE5 doesn't seem promising but ARK II does
It looks promising
tek lovers dont matter
One is a remaster, the other is built from the ground up.
if you make life marginally harder it actually gets easier (enjoyable)
Nobody matters, we're not even spots in the grand scheme of the universe
Wildcard very quickly became similar to Rockstar Games in that regard, as great of a product they have been able to maintain I don't need to see game play personally to know I'm getting it.
same shit but with a different engine and textures. still as bad but a bit prettier
Sometimes I wonder why we live so hard lives
You don’t know me…
Why don't people just let go
I let go years ago and live in ark 1
True
I just hope my thylas make it into Ark 2 :3
Thylas are probably my favorite land creature
They are probably the best land creature (excluding shadowmanes, that are too op).
Fast, strong, flexible etc
I just hope they allow them in boss battles this time
Ark 2 is being delayed for ps5?
What, thylas are blocked?
Ark 2 isn’t even confirmed for ps5
L
It will be for pc and Xbox only, at least for a while
I heard someone say that in #ark-survival-ascended I only did boss battles on unofficial and assumed from there the owner of that cluster coded it to work similar to how they enable flyers on Gen and Abb
Doesn’t seem accurate to me
Never tried, but makes no sense
The only creatures blocked I know are Carchar, giga and anything larger than that
There a timed exclusive contract for PC and Xbox that what we know.
Thylas and Megalania are blocked from most boss battles due to their climbing ability
Anyways, when I say they are the best land creature, I’m talking in general. The way boss Arenas were designed in Ark 1, brute force is more important
Didn’t know that 😂
I mean, manas are allowed…
Going in caves with 6 thylas makes for quite a run. Probably one of my most common ways to pass time when waiting in Ark 1 lol
A lot of power creep creatures are allowed in previously restricted areas. Manas, Gasbags, ect on Aberation, and so on
If I had to say a style of map I absolutely 100% did NOT want to see in Ark 2.. Bury Abb in the deepest hole possible and leave it there. Most hated map I've ever played on.
It was nice knowing you stampede can be heard in the distance 🫡
There a reason Rockdrakes stayed expensive to trade for even in unofficial boosted servers.
There a limited amount of people willing to tolerate Abb
Which is weird, because whenever people ask what's their favorite map is, Ab is usually top of the list - I love Ab
Sure, it has flaws, but it provides such a unique experience
Natural progression and difficulty curve is just 👌
Every single unofficial cluster I played on that was discord ran, Abb was the first map to be lost because people wouldn't boost the map on Nitrado lol
Peeps can't live without their fliers and wyverns 😂
Nah flyers were enabled on the ones I played on, the map just sucks for me cause it WAY to jumbled. Get turned around where you are cause it just looks the same.
Takes me 3 hours to transfer off that map after going taming and harvesting only map I have ever consistently got lost on
3 hours to get to Rockwell's Terminal? Sounds like a skill issue 😬
Surface Obs I can understand, constant Reapers is a pain in the ass
Sounds like a design issue, be staring at map and gps to stay in the right direction, but make sure I still find access up and downs
I have no issue navigating Ab 🤷
Though I do have very good sense of direction
Sounds like a skill issue I’m a dbass and can navigate abb fine
Beside Abb only time I've ever used a GPS was to meet someone for a trade or to tell someone where to meet me. As well as mark my base and outpost locations
But don't take my word for it, everytime I look for servers today.. Tell me why Abb is so great when it and SE are the only two missing 95% of the time
Feature creep and people wanting instant gratification. Basically no reason to actually play Ab outside of Ascension as all creatures can be gotten elsewhere and easier on the free maps
I play maps for the experience though, which is probably not what the majority of what others do
Sounds like a design issue to me then if the only reason people might go is for an objective. I feel confident in that design not returning if people aren't/can't just enjoy the ambiance of the map.
Ark definitely has design issues with feature and power creep. Why use like 90% of tames when Shadowmanes do everything better and easier?
I haven't really seen people use Shadowmanes like that, usually more common to see a breed farm of rexes, gigas, and Yutys. I think I've came across more bases with Velos than Shadowmanes
I don't like shadowmanes purely out of visuals, it looks like a giant skinned rat in my opinion. Rather tame an R-Thyla
Yes, Ark 2 is a current gen only development. Previous gen will have to settle for UE5 upgrade
Whats UE5
Unreal Engine 5 which is what Ark 2 going to use. They are going to upgrade Ark 1 with what it can handle in UE5, but it won't use nano nites.
But can ps4 players players ark 2 then?
no
Probably not. Last gen console
Ok😔
PS4 and Old Xbox is out 👍🏽
PS5 won't even get it for a while cause there a timed exclusive contract for PC and Xbox, so the first release will only go to Steam, Epic, Win10/XboxX|S
PC doesn't have things like "exclusives", we don't meddle in the affairs of peasants 😂
We get everything
Sooner or later
🍺
🍺
Series X/S and PC are interchangeable basically with what they can handle. I have both Gaming PC and X/S
🍺
Sure buddy sure 👍🏽 we all know what PC Master Race really is 💀
Yes saying it is master race is dead.
❌ doubt
Only reason to play a game that releases on both current gen and PC is in GTA comparison to get on MP mod like FiveM. Cause standard modding is becoming cross platform. And Ark 2 is just one of the first to take advantage of what going to become standard
I doubt mod.io has servers large enough as Steam
Also mod.io is hardly very good, it's buggy and doesn't work half the time
They're not going to be the only one to be able do mods for console, just the first.
Hence "going to become standard", we're going to get to a point where there not going to be much of a different between PC and consoles at all
*AAA. Literally only them
Ark 2 seems to have an AAA budget, so it should be priced accordingly
Salty flier reliant people make me smile
But it’s being realeased as an early-access. I doubt they will release it at full price
Ab is obsolete, simple as. You can get every tame from that map elsewhere and with no tame/flier restrictions
I'm guessing $30-40. 50 is a stretch
My guess too.
I’ve never seen an EA title above 40$ or so, and those are a massive stretch
That being said I’m not sweating speculation on prices
It’ll be whatever it is, and I’ll consider that price when the game it out and I can actually pay it
Now I would pay an extra $20 for ark 2’s version of Ab in a heartbeat, but that’s another topic lol
Imo, if the game looks good then I'm probably getting it regardless of price. If it looks bleh then I'll probably wait for a sale while wallowing in sorrow over failed hype
Tbf, it’s not that relevant. It’s more relevant, to me, that the game is good.
So, the gameplay is more relevant to me, than knowing the price range
Plus, not like I'm actually spending money on it 😂
Made a couple hundred bucks from selling inventory on Steam Market for games I don't play anymore
Wallet funds to last me a few years
I think there a better chance at comparing what Ark 2 might cost by looking at Dying Light 2 considering both are made by a similar size company and open world survival game. Only real difference being DL is zombies and co-op not PvP
And still have microtransactions
Lol I wouldn't abbrivate EA for early access
Everyone does
Not everyone considering it was easy to think you meant EA the company
Not in an ark 2 discussion channel 😂
We’ve been using it for a while here
Because I don't watch 40 people a week talk about other games in this whole server. It not impossible
Context. EA is probably going to refer to Early Access in a channel dedicated to a game that is going to be released as Early Access
Considering the previous context was comparing if Wildcard was AAA or not with Ark now
Further proves my point
heres to praying that the ark 2 servers wont have lag
Only way to prevent that on official is if they have found a way to stop giant gates from being used as walls or to stop them from constantly going through open/close animation just because they rendered in because that is what causes lag predominately.
for the servers i go it is just that theres too many dinos which were transfered from other servers
it sucks
Nah it not really except for maybe space whale or tek bronto thing on gen 2 if there a lot at someone base cause they render a lot.
Space whale aura a lot of animation render to
It mostly giant gates opening and closing evertime they render
Hate to be Debbie Downer here, but anyone else concerned that between SotF re-surfacing and this UE 5 update for Ark 1 coming 'sometime' that we might be getting buttered up for another Ark 2 delay?
Don't get me wrong - super hyped that* both those things are happening, but still. The UE upgrade can't be a little body of work
I'd be fine if they did, better to delay it than have another Cyber Punk situation
That's fair 🤝
...I suppose they could also just be trying to breathe new life/excitement into the community prior to Ark 2 launch.
it's probably just the remaining Ark 1 team working on it, not really hindering the Ark 2 team normally. it could've been something they wanted to do for a long time already aswell
There only one game that if it releases before being GTA 6 which is some time slated in 2024, but other than that game it pretty safe bet in me putting serious time on Ark 2 when we do get it
I wouldn’t say a delay is going to be mentioned until October-November of this year, since WC has carefully stated “2023” as the sole date
Acronyms vary by context: if it makes no sense for me to say electronic arts and we were all taking about early access it may be wise to seek clarification
If they are planning to delay again, I bet it will be said no later than June (the Xbox showcase).
I’m guessing we’ll hear an update in June, but I’m not so sure we’ll hear a 2024 delay at that time. That’s a six month advance on a delay…which leaves a pretty sizable space for error
Actually I believe Ark will be released by then. Or at least has an actual date. BUT if they have doubts about the 2023 release, they will announce something by then.
I’m not so sure. If they were gonna drop it in June they’d say as much imo
But, for real, it’s an early access, why wouldn’t they release this year?
Hire me at WC and I’d know
My point is, they might release it this year no matter what
So far everyone I’ve spoken to and read comments from at WC has been rational
I’d do that, but I also know exceedingly little about WC’s corporate structure or the dev state of ark 2
True
You should seriously consider an NDA
no no, just be a janitor and clean while they're doing game development
you're making it too complex, the more thought out simpler plan will work better
I get PTSD from Cyber Punk release from those last 5 words.
I will bet the information on a game of poker
I finally get to use my skills
I want companies to look at that failed release, then take notes from how Rockstar does. Ignore the complaints of it taking extra time to release and do what you need to do to put the game out in a finished state.
GTA V released only on 360 and PS3 and they made 1 billion dollars in just three days of releasing on two consoles
they need a resident biologist for realism
Still complex
Morph into bird form and fly by their windows repeatedly
the sun is a deadly lazer
1 billion?
O shi-
yes billion with a B
Yes, they made 815 million on release day
Not anymore there's a blanket
Sure thing
985 million just in micro-transaction for GTA Online in 2021
Wait people still pay for microttansactions in that game
But we are getting off topic
CP wasn’t an early access release. Ark 2 will be, and if you aren’t willing face bugs and all kind of issues, my advice: don’t buy it.
Not all companies can afford 10 years or more developing a game.
But no company can afford to release a game in an incomplete state that it fails. Cyber Punk should be a lesson of that for the entire gaming industry. Nobody suggested work on it for 10 years, but work on it as long as needed.
Again, Ark 2 will be released as an EA title, CP wasn’t. CP was being developed since W3 was released. CD Project messed up big time. It’s not the same situation.
Ark 2 will have plenty of bugs, it will be an EA title.
Early access isn't the concern, announcing a game in Alpha, Beta, Early Access is not the concern at hand. We all know those three phases are the same time just stating the stage of development. Nobody said anything about early access being considered a full release or not.
I’d love to work as a speculative biologist with WC but that’s a hellofa pipe dream
Like I said, I’d love to participate but I’m just a guy compared to an expert paleontologist or even speculative biologist 😅
implying they want a thorough spec bio after Gen made the lore bad
they just gonna go "more teeth, more spikes"
I mean…speculative biology is foundational to many of ark’s unique creatures
Even obvious chimeras like the shadowmane look to have been carefully designed to be biologically feasible
it's a play on words of "lion fish", nothing worth spec bio on that
Speculative biology doesn’t just include naming convention
i am talking about creature design
It includes things like “how does this animal run? How does it swim? How does it behave?”
Those are all elements of design
i know but the shadowmane is a bad example
I actually think the maewing is the worst example
both tbh because in lore they are literally man made to suit the needs of the ones who made them

Yea but the lore is kinda not important on that 😅
the lore IS important if you gonna know the potential of spec evo of said creatures
At least not for me. The question is more “is this animal alive? And is it behaving in a way that an animal could or should?
Well hold on: speculative biology is different from evolution
arent that the same
Speculative biology is often just what you’re looking at. Evolution is how you got to the creature you’re looking at.
even if it's spec bio, the Gen 2 lore stated they are made up regardless
Right, so speculative evolution is halted instantly because there IS no evolution. Rockwell just made em
and the rockwell side blew up but yeee
But speculative biology is still valid because rockwell made living breathing animals that behave autonomously in the world
So someone has to figure out how these animals move behave and exist in the world, which requires an understanding of biology if you want it to look feasible and realistic
Rockwell made his creatures to defend his domain from the ones who tried to stop them, they are a product of creation still
on why they easily tamed by us is again in lore they are genetically engineered (by the source, not rockwell) to be tamed
You’re speaking again more about their place on the ship and less about how this animal WORKS
i am talking about why they behaved that way
Real lions don’t swim like a shadowmane. It took speculative biology to figure out how to animate that to appear feasible for a fictional animal to do that
your answer is already there, you just choose to ignore it 🤷
ye so does hybriding different species
Ok but the hybrid animal is not a lion with fish parts stapled on it. Which is what I’m getting at when I say speculation had to take place
How much of a speculative biologist are you
Casual hobby? Passion project type deal? It’s not my day job if that’s your question
tbh i doubt it, after i have seen the "overspikey" stego mckentrosaurus, and "more spikey" Brachi
Those animals are likely breathing functional animals in ark 2. Reconstructing extinct animals is itself an exercise in speculative biology
We never saw how these animals behaved, it’s all inference. Arguably it’s easier to work with the fossil record than pure imagination, but it’s the same principle
despite using Jurassic Park Dilos and Spinos
WC used the legwork done by others for some creatures, which makes sense given the speculation done for things like the rex is now ingrained in popular media and is what people expect from these animals
It’s unlikely the rex was a slow cumbersome Godzilla like creature, yet many depictions still use that model
if you really gonna go full spec evo, those spikes would be a liability for breeding naturally
that is a flaw if ARK 2 decided to "spec evo" midway, after the concepts are done
sure concepts CAN have a chance to change but i feel it's too late for that
Many extant animals have odd physical traits that don’t impede as much as you’d think
You said you were concerned that they would release it as early access “no matter what”. There’s nothing they can’t fix during the early access. Just be open minded if you decide to buy it inthat phase.
if you talk about the hedgehog or porcupine, well... those spikes ain't attached to their skeletons nor too bulky to give way
I wish that was true but look at last oasis…you do have the basic gameplay loop set in stone to most consumers when EA comes out
As long WC doesn’t abandon ark 2, there will be hope (atlas was abandoned and see what happened).
I just fail to see what can’t be accomplished while EA is open
ATLAS I believe is being actively developed?
Just like last oasis 😂
It’s extremely hard to wipe official servers for example. Or radically change mechanics
Wait that game still exists?
*Re-developed
Ark 1 did I believe 2 global wipes. Also a lot of roll backs. It’s harder, but not impossible
Kinda
Multiple small wipes while the map was being developed and a couple major global ones…and they were HOTLY contentious
And it worked just fine. Now they are seasoned, they should work more efficiently.
Overall for sure it worked well to do that, the flier nerf, etc. But before early access you can do that on a dime with no controversy
I mean, don’t you think Ark 2 began from a better start point when compared to Ark 1 in 2015?
I’d say if ark 2 was as the average ignorant chatter says “ark 1 again”, yes
Most of the balancing was probably thought way before the start of the development
how would sauropods mate 🤔
But ark 2 is adding a TON of new mechanics and elements that are untested, which themselves could be subject to unforeseen issues ark 1 can’t check for
or gastonia
There's a reason they say size matters
Supposedly reinforced hips and a dangerous game of “support the giant”
wonder if thats an incentive for females to be larger than males
or at least more robust
True, but they will be working on it for almost 3 years (or more if we consider the work started after extinction). Ark 1 was made in six months.
Ark 1 was also released as basically a demo with very few features
Ark 2 having more moving parts means more room for error…even if the time and money budget is way larger
And I had lots of fun since day one 😂
I’m sure it’ll be fun either way 😂
Reinforced hips 😩
lotus knows the exact number of ark34
Because even when I'm intoxicated I make more sense then the average chatter In this channel
can't deny that

can someone tell me whether the planet ark 2 is based on is the last destination from ark 1
You make more sense intoxicated than sober 🥂
Whe

Vin is supposed to be Santiago, a character referred to in the ark 1 explorer notes
so what happens to your character after the ending cutscene in genesis2? kinda bummed that they just remove him
You make no sense
I didn’t say you said that. What you said is you would be concerned. And there’s no point to be concerned that an early access starts with issues.
