I have a personal theory, but it's just my own explanation which isn't at all canon- though it uses evidence left by the environmental storytelling in the area.

We're told by Helena Deus that Element ran deep beneath Sanctuary, and people harvested it en masse.

One interesting thing to note, is the existence of those strange, spinelike pipes we see in the Sunken Forest Cave. They're reused from Aberration, and internally, are called 'Element Extractors'.

My crackpot theory is that The Forest™️ was build on top of the Element extraction operation, and due to the scale of the mines, it sunk into the already-dug caves beneath the surface.

Like I said though, not considered canon.

These ARK were Build when Element was harnest fully atleast almost

Stel can correct me, but I believe if a chunk of Element is thrown onto the ground, given enough time, it'll covert the dirt underneath it into more Element.

tulip scaffold

Do we know how many arks were in space

bold dove

Hundreds

bold dove

If not thousands.
Exact number I believe isn't confirmed.

tulip scaffold

I think thanks to aberration the reseed Protocols Element purge faild so thanks to it’s malefunktion the area near it will not 100% be Element free

#

Just my head Canon but I think that Aberrations malefunktion could be a Future Problem

tulip scaffold

Yes

Didn't really 'choose' him. More that he accidently fell into the position and the ARK said "fuck it, we ball."

#

Why do the ark even need one

bold dove
#

To oversee the ARK

tulip scaffold
#

The system runs automatically

tulip scaffold
#

Or what to oversee. Scorched earth city was destroyed by the system but was it the overseer?

bold dove
# tulip scaffold What humans are doing

Correct.
The System if I recall is just an AI that doesn't really do complex tasks outside of its algorithms it was programmed to do.
An Overseer has more intelligence to know when/how to handle situations on an ARK.
The System can preserve data of life and keep the population of an ARK steady. But it's the Overseer that decides when a civilization gets too large and needs to be reset.
Stel can again correct me if I'm wrong.

Rockwell i always thought the system just uses his dna construct cause the og overseer is death but he can’t do anything

bold dove
#

Nah, if anything the Aberration Homo-Deus is just staring at Rockwell like. veggies

tulip scaffold
#

The system set it so high the overseers are doing what the system tells them or how does their dinamic work

bold dove
# tulip scaffold But when the overseers are Home Deus like Helena why is the system flawed ? The ...

Because the ARK's where never meant to last this long.
The URE thought Corruption would die off to a degree, so they just hopped everything onto the ARK's and pissed off in hopes the Corruption would subside enough that they can come down and finish it off.
But Corruption only got stronger over time, and so this caused the Reseed Protocol to be delayed by hundreds to thousands of years.
And with the Corruption getting stronger, The System notices this and increases the standard for a survivor to reach Earth. To the point now it's impossible without breaking the ARK's and forcefully going onto Earth yourself (the portal from Aberration)

tulip scaffold
bold dove
#

And the ARK's are so old, that even the Overseer's have lost any and all sense of their original selves.
While they are Homo-Deus's like Helena. They've lost their humanity, and became basically just ghostly computers with the mindset of the most objectively correct mindset.

tulip scaffold
tulip scaffold
bold dove
bold dove
#

Hindsight, probably wasn't the smartest idea to bring back one of the smartest people of all time into an ARK that they could decipher.

#

That Overseer kind of got that one coming.

tulip scaffold
#

The Complete plan was flawed. They just had luck Helena was smart

tulip scaffold
#

Whait why aren’t they decaied

bold dove
#

It's basically flawed in the sense that it wasn't meant to last thing long, and now everything is decaying.

tulip scaffold
#

Another flaw. Give enough time and all the overseers will despawn

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

Enough time the lost their mind cause to much information and it’s very hard to keep your identity

#

That makes Helena more expressive

bold dove
#

That's why the Overseers seem so cold and act like A.I's now. Even though they used to be humans.

#

Helena over her lifetime will slowly become like this.

tulip scaffold
#

Why are the deus ok with getting put in that shell

tulip scaffold
bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

The arks don’t need oversees the system can do all the work for them

#

We have Rockwell as one and what does he does ? Nothing just getting more and more insane

bold dove
# tulip scaffold Nah she’s build different

Nope, it's actually effecting her now.
She's more monotone in the Extinction ending then she described herself in the notes. (or in The Animated Series, even though that isn't canon)
She still enjoys subjective things, like wanting to see the real sun rise again. But she's already has lost some of herself.
She just hasn't fully yet, because she's the youngest Homo-Deus currently.

bold dove
tulip scaffold
bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

To look when a civilization gets to big is not that big of deal

#

To need them to handle situation when human emotions and not rational thinking is needed is reasonable

#

But that went away through time

tulip scaffold
#

And that would explain why the use Rockwell as a new oversee

#

But shouldnt he die through old age sometimes?

mental basin
#

The System is essentially the 'supercomputer' backbone of the ARKs, but it ain't actually a supercomputer

It's more of a concept, or a supercomplex 'process' than something tangible

#

The Overseer is a manufactured Homo Deus 'proxy' in physical form, since the Homo Deus couldn't oversee The System past a point

#

Have no clue what you mean by "The System can preserve data of life and keep the population of an ARK steady." and I don't think it's particularily relevant

bold dove
mental basin
#

And as for civilization resets, it's most likely The System passing down the 'rule' of resetting progress to the Obelisks, since they act independently of the Overseers

#

Even with Aberration's Overseer splayed across the cosmos, the Obelisks, and by extension, Aberration itself, was hellbent on blowing up the Tek Tribe

#

The Obelisks are observational superstructure sentries

bold dove
#

Fair

#

So what's the point of an Overseer?

tulip scaffold
#

Exactly

mental basin
#

Double fact checked, according to Soskin '- Depends on the ARK. Each Overseer would determine when things have gone "too far" and its time for a reset based on individual circumstances.'

So I guess I'm wrong, but this sentence also directly contradicts what we see on Aberration

#

Anyways, I gotta head back out

tulip scaffold
#

But what’s now the Point of one

mental basin
#

They Oversee

#

Like the Gaurds in Squid Game

tulip scaffold

That Job can easy the system do

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

Whos right is the question

rotund coyote
#

mental basin

mental basin
tulip scaffold

So the system is the Rule set and the oversee is the Guy punishing

mental basin
#

Bingo

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

Isnt it a Bit Overkill to sink a city underground

bold dove
mental basin
#

Nah, the Survivors of Nosti weren't fighting to survive or getting stronger at all, so the ARK had to clip their wings.

bold dove
#

Welp, I'm wrong again

tulip scaffold
#

To need them to handle situation when human emotions and not rational thinking is needed

#

But that has gone missing thanks to time

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

System says humans arent doing anything oversee do Something and it’s sinking a City

bold dove
#

I assume Nosti might've been able to survive if it was set in the earlier years. But as the ARK's decay and the standards for literally everything increase due to the Corruption getting stronger, I can imagine that being the reason why the Overseers and The System are so ruthless now.

bold dove
#

Nosti had issues with mantises that where hella smart before they dealt with them.

tulip scaffold
bold dove
#

Then Nosti had to deal with some Wyverns, but those also got tooken care of.

mental basin
# tulip scaffold Isnt it a Bit Overkill to sink a city underground

If you've played through The Island and gone into the Caves, you can see that there's tons of sunken and destroyed ruins beneath the ARK's surface. One of the Snow Caves just straight up has like, a monastery inside of it. Even the Tek Tribe describes seeing Tek ruins deeper into Aberration, left by another long-gone group of Survivors, who were most likely as advanced as they were. John also describes finding another, seperate city from Nosti destroyed by the Obelisks across the desert. He died there, too.

The ARKs have sunken and destroyed dozens of civilizations which far predate The Ones Who Try Again.

tulip scaffold
mental basin
#

The Overseer isn't human, it's an unfeeling robot.

#

Its existence is only to follow The System's rules.

tulip scaffold
#

But wherent they humans

mental basin
#

No.

bold dove
#

Aren't the Overseers Homo-Dues's?

tulip scaffold
tulip scaffold
mental basin
#

The Overseers are mechanical proxies created to Oversee the ARKs under The System. They are/are able to be intertwined with a Homo Deus, but the Homo Deus doesn't at all retain themselves, at least not as we see them.

tulip scaffold
#

And of Not human Why did the System Chose Rockwell as it’s oversee

mental basin
bold dove
mental basin
#

The Homo-Deus can intertwine with the Overseer, but the Overseer is its own independent robot, at least as we see it in our time.

tulip scaffold
mental basin
#

'Became one with'.

bold dove
#

So a fusion of a form

mental basin
#

Rockwell was 'linked'.

tulip scaffold
#

If we kill him he will respawn like all other oversee

bold dove
#

I assume since Homo-Deus's are just energy, they intertwine with the Overseers like a ghost does to a robot.

tulip scaffold
#

So that’s what Helena did to enable respawn

tulip scaffold
mental basin
#

We wound him, and he eventually makes it back to Earth.

mental basin
tulip scaffold
#

What is different from the Statement from the Story writer

bold dove
#

Though the original writer, same one that did Aberration contradicts this in his Reddit QnA and states that task is exclusive to an Overseer.

mental basin
#

Right, the Overseer wasn't present when the Obelisks were set to destroy the Tek Village.

tulip scaffold
#

The Obelisk coud be the punishment the oversee wants to do

mental basin
#

The Overseer was gone.

bold dove
#

Nuked

mental basin

#

Spread across the stars like a cosmic puzzle.

bold dove

This was after Aberration got fucked, but before Rockwell mutates.

tulip scaffold
#

Oh so maybe the system did thinks while the oversee was missing

mental basin

Like I said, The System doesn't do that

tulip scaffold

The system gets more rude overtime Cause the Earth gets more toxic but why the oversee

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

But The oversee can chose how react to thinks the system says are wrong and need to be corected.

#

He dont need to be more rude

#

The System gets more rude increasing it’s Standards the oversee makes the Same ?

bold dove
# tulip scaffold He dont need to be more rude

Rude is subjective, as the Overseer probably doesn't see it as being rude as it doesn't/can't value human life.
Also, while unconfirmed, we can assume with the fact that the ARK's where less hostile in their earlier lifespan, the Overseer and in turn The System where more forgiving.
But due to the standard of The System increasing, that also increases the standards for every Overseer.
They have a 'tad' bit of independence with changing and doing stuff however they seem fit of whatever The System needs them to do. But they still have to follow what The System says.
If The System says to "destroy every trace of Nosti" then the Scorched Earth Overseer has to "destroy every trace of Nosti" in some way.

plus it was a mod became official map, hence "non-story"

bold dove
#

Someone on Reddit broke it down, and basically it can translate to multiple meanings. But the one that makes sense is "worthy white"

#

This a a copy/paste of the message on Reddit.
" The prefix “Val-“ denotes something of worth, such as a value, valedictorian, or validation.

The suffix, “Guero”, descends from the Spanish word Huero, which means empty. It eventually became used in the term “huevo huero”, which meant “empty egg” or someone who was sick. Because of the whitish complexion of people who are sick, this led to the eventual transformation of the word into “guero”, which is now applied to people with light skin and light brown or red hair. Unlike gringo, which is mostly a derogatory term regarding American whites, guero is used endearingly about lighter skinned people and is even used for whites that are native to Mexico.

From this, we can surmise that the name “Valguero” translates into something like “worthy white”, “worthy red hair”, or if we are going back further, “worthy sickness”, the last of which I believe is an apt description of my mentality when this map comes out. "

Scorched Earth was constructed far before the Titans had appeared on Earth

Which means that skull was planted there by the architects for cool factor, or it was from a dead creature of some kind

#

As established, said creature couldn't have been a Titan, as Titans didn't exist at that point

Which would imply that the skeleton is a biologically engineered, kaiju-sized, cosmic horror

There seems to be some form of cooperation and scavenging with decently made tools (primitive, but decently made for primitive tools) during the first ARK-2 trailer. And it seems like the Aratai's and Santiago's group already had some form of relationship since Santiago took them out with ease.
So, probably months to years after ARK-1

Mei and Diana are going to die and their story arcs of those clones will be closed in Lost Colonies.
Then Diana 2.0 will be on board the Genesis ship akin to how Santiago 2.0 was, with them biologically being the same person, but completely different mentally.
Not long after Gen2, they find each other and bang since they had some form of possible interest in each other during Aberration. But Diana never went with Santiago since she was with Mei-Yin already. But since this is a new Diana with no memories of Mei-Yin, they actually hook up this time.

Okay, in BTT Wasteland note 9, it's kind of shown that they did possibly hate each other in their original lives due to them being on opposing sides.
So yeah, they had feelings for each other during Aberration, but never went through. But seems like on Arat they found each other and banged.
Also I find it funny when Bob says "Listen kid, these are just dumb stories" he fucking looks at the camera.

It's also Steampunk BTT note 7 that hints that Diana had some feelings for Santiago during the Aberration events.

# tulip scaffold What did you dislike

Gen1 seemingly has no real writer as it was during a time that Wildcard was still looking for a writer after Marc left.
It's a disconnected mess that makes no sense to the original storyline, and 90% of the notes are random shit no one cares about of tidbits of previous users causing glitches. It was more of satire writing about their own game being buggy as fuck and people dupping then it was an actual storyline.
Gen2 had some interesting concepts, but to me fell flat on its ass.
Gabriel, while conceptually I like, was a boring character.
I can't recall anything with Nida other then she possibly died from Rockwell.
And Gen2 Santiago just seemed dull to me.

tulip scaffold

tulip scaffold
lyric tendon

Nida is like a soil scientist turn modder for the Gen Ship System

the reason she died to Rockwell is because she has to mod the system to unlock the rings through HLNA

Genesis also introduced the Engramic Matrix, which I never liked personally.
I liked when clones consciousness where left in the air whether or not they're spiritually the same person, or just a biological copy of that person with implanted memories.

Just personal philosophy in writing, but I like some things remaining mysteries. As if done right, it can make the audience question their perspective of the narrative, as well as opening more doors for writing, and allowing the characters to question themselves and their reality as well.

#

unlike the "Engrammic Matrix" at least the Respawn in Ext has a narrative reasoning

like who knows Tek better aside Santiago in Helena's POV?, Diana

bold dove
#

Thing I've learned from writing, is there's a degree to "objectively bad writing" to "I personally just don't like this"
There's some flaws with the Genesis storyline that are questionable. But new iterations like the Engramic Matrix are more just personal taste of whether you like it or not.

tulip scaffold

tulip scaffold

And the hole philosophy, problem, that are we just our memories? Or more than that

it gives you that grim dark dread in otherwise vibrant paradise

tulip scaffold
#

Yeah the og story is the best one but I like the hole concept of gen and going to a new planet but the ship gets invaded

lyric tendon
#

genesis is a mistake, i like it better when it is grounded in Arat Prime (which is what it was originally) and focus on Earth instead, especially the whole teaser of Ab dropped after the Reseed Protocol

bold dove
# tulip scaffold And the hole philosophy, problem, that are we just our memories? Or more than th...

Memories are just to store information. What we are objectively are lumps of brain cells and neurons trying to survive and learn as our brains (us) grows.
What a clone can't replicate though is actual experiences and the objectively **REAL ** hardships the original went through.
A clone can be biologically 1:1 to someone, and have 1:1 memories.
But at that point, they're just memories of another organism that's long dead.
The clone never went through the hardships physically, they never, let's say had to actually get bullied as a child, they never actually got married, they never had to see their spouse die during a World-War. All of those memories are just that, memories from an organism that actually went through those hardships.
This is even more apparent if we take into consideration hybridizing.
I can put Character 1's memories into Character 2's body.
If the brain **thinks ** it's Character 1, but biologically is Character 2, what are they at that point?

tulip scaffold
lyric tendon
#

IIRC the one of the floating signs in Ext says Arat Prime is closed or something

bold dove
#

"We are closed for renovation 🙂 "

tulip scaffold
tulip scaffold
bold dove
#

Don't have to be a fan. Just explaining my reasoning.

lyric tendon

would be fun to have an implantless character but i guess they save that in ARK 2, boo

tulip scaffold
#

We will just ignore this

lyric tendon
#

nah i like the idea of having clones of mixed eras in a battle royale isekai which is what ARK technically is

bold dove
# tulip scaffold Yeah and I’m not a fan of This philosophy and thinking about it so I’m a fan of ...

Also, fun fact.
Organoids are the concept of genetically created an organ from scratch in a lab from Stem-Cells.
Recently, as of last year, we grew an organoid human brain.
We've done this for awhile now, but the thing that makes this special is that is slightly developed more to actually have nuerons and and a bit of wrinkles.
The project was shut down though in fear that, if the brain develops more, it could touch into morality issues of creating a human life as just a brain with sensory deprivation.

tulip scaffold
#

Wait Mekka finding out how to bring back Diana might be the explanation why we will be able to respawn in ark 2

lyric tendon
tulip scaffold
tulip scaffold
bold dove
#

I'm just a nerd interested in biology of the human brain.

tulip scaffold
#

Og cause you wrote we’ve done that that’s why 😅

tulip scaffold
bold dove
#

We, as in our species. That's what I meant. Lepufferfish

tulip scaffold
#

Yeah got it

#

Not first try but got it

bold dove
#

It's also that research that made my philosophy change with cloning. FIRE

tulip scaffold
#

What’s your philosophy

bold dove
#

Because obviously ARK is fiction, it can do whatever it wants with cloning for its plot.
But IRL at least, cloning I think would be a kind of black and white subject to a degree.
Yes you can biologically recreate someone 1:1 and implant their memories. But said clone never truly went through the hardships the original person went through physically. They just have memories of those hardships.

tulip scaffold
#

But what’s the difference if he went through it or thinks he went through it

#

You still know what you did

bold dove
# tulip scaffold You still know what you did

Let's say there's a clone of you.
I won't pry in your personal life, but just imagine the worse thing that ever happened to you in your life so far.
If your clone walks up to you, and claims they also went through that event, even though they where just born hours ago. How would that make you feel?
How would it make you feel, if that clone claimed that what you went through is on par to what they remember from just a memory?
Would it make you confused? Angry that they claim to had gone through those trauma's even though they never actually did? Or would you feel nothing?

Also, with the whole Organoid brain subject. This also brings into account that something.
We don't know what happens after death, if anything at all. Religions claim they do, but objectively it's still up in the air.
Hypothetically, if nothing happens after death, if death is truly like how it felt before you where born, which is absolutely nothingness. Then the clone wouldn't be you.
They would have the memories of you up until you died. But you, the original brain, the organism, are dead. Your consciousness in this situation is tied to your brain and your brain has decomposed.
Yet there's an imitation going around thinking it's you with your memories.

#

Ever played a game called SOMA?

tulip scaffold
#

I heard about it

bold dove
#

Mind spoilers?

tulip scaffold

bold dove
#

Okay, then I can't talk about the rest of my philosophy sadly.

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

Ok talk. Write spoilers. Now I’m intrested

tulip scaffold
#

How I feall about it’s is not important. From biology site seen nothing is different

lofty scaffold
tulip scaffold
#

Nah they still be some sort of human

#

So I think we’re fine

lofty scaffold
bold dove
# tulip scaffold Ok talk. Write spoilers. Now I’m intrested

Okay, so in SOMA you play in the future, around 75 years after 2015.
You play as Simon, someone with brain cancer during the 21st century/2015 and go into for a brain scan for a possible creation of a cure.
Simon goes into it, and wakes up 75 years in the future in the bottom of the ocean.
Throughout the game, it turns out that Simon is actually operating a robot diving suit, and his old body from 2015 died months after the brain scan. But the diving suit robot that is the new Simon doesn't recall any of that, since his memories only go up to when he went to the brain scan.
Near the end of the game, you need to put yourself into a different diving suit robot because of needing to go deeper. (pressure)
Issue is, the moment Simon transfers into the new suit, he hears himself talk.
Turns out, the way transferring works isn't a 1:1 transfer.
It instead completely copies your memories and places them into a new body.
So the Simon you've been playing as the entire game, is now strapped down in a chair unconscious, as you play as the new Simon. You get the option to either leave him by himself forever, or cut off his life support and kill what was basically the character you where playing as the entire game up until this point.
At the end of the game, you have to launch what's called the Ark, which is a satellite that'll go into space with the memories of previous humans. (Earth is dead during the game and this is the only way to preserve humanity)
Instead though, as shown previously, when Simon 2.0 tries to transfers his consciousness to the Ark, it launches without him.
That's because it worked, as it wasn't meant to transfer him 1:1 to the Ark, but instead make a copy of the current Simon and place it into the Ark.
So, you hear Simon 3.0 in the Ark celebrating and happy that they made it out, as your Simon, Simon 2.0 is left being scared and slowly dying from the underwater station crumbling. And that's how the game ends.

All four of these Simon's are seperate entities, and the game emphasises this. Especially when you can physically interact with Simon 1.0 with Simon 2.0. And hear Simon 3.0 celebrating and thinking they left the underwater station, as Simon 2.0 is left behind and scared.

#

Long as fuck, but do read if you have the time.

tulip scaffold
#

Yeah I see it the same way that’s why I’m a fan of the Matrix

lofty scaffold
tulip scaffold
#

Pls tell me you wrote this on a pc not your phone

bold dove
# tulip scaffold But still what’s the difference if he went through it or thinks he went through ...

And to answer this, the clone would have your memories. But you, you yourself are dead and are currently in the Abyss that is death. (in this hypothetical if nothing happens after death)
That's the biggest contender for this discussion though.
If we can proves souls exist and that the clone is actually spiritually the same person from before like in ARK, then there's no issues.
But if we disprove souls, and instead of everything is tied to the brain, then that would be a bit more complicated.

tulip scaffold
bold dove
lofty scaffold
#

@bold dove would it be immoral to put your brain into a younger clone of yourself?

tulip scaffold
#

Your brain will die somethimes

bold dove
lofty scaffold
bold dove
#

If you can transfer to a new body though with a immortal brain though, then yes. I'd argue that is still you.
You're just more body jacking then anything. But since that is the same brain, it's still you.

tulip scaffold
bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

Yeah but it didn’t answer the question 😅

#

Is there a difference for you if you expierence something by your self or if you get it through cloning

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

But he didn’t ask to be cloned / made it’s not his fault

#

So I see it chilled

#

So why will be respawning in ark 2 😅

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

And your clones didn’t ask to be made

bold dove
#

Then it shall be a duel to the death.

tulip scaffold
tulip scaffold
#

Just a bit

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

Wait no they have the Matrix so it’s ok

#

No but for real Why will we respawn

bold dove
bold dove
bold dove
#

Gen2 kind of brushes away respawning.
And ARK-2 seems to have a lack of Tek, so they're probably abandoning that plotline.

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

I know

#

But yeah your right

#

Just dont Open the box of the pandora

bold dove
#

Yeah, until we can figure out what happens after death and if there's a way to transfer the counciouss itself without the brain (if that's even possible. Again, the brain may be the consciousness) then it's best to stay away from cloning IRL.

tulip scaffold
#

But I didn See anything For This

bold dove
#

Oh god, it really is Pandora's box of problems.

tulip scaffold
tulip scaffold
bold dove
#

Then there's gonna be the political issues of cloning.
Military ethics of cloning.
Whether or not clones are seen as individual's or property to the original.

#

Honestly, glad we're dealing with AI shit IRL before cloning.
I rather deal with AI shit in my lifetime and those ethical questions then cloning.

It's hard to hear in-game with a mixture of Rockwell's main speech going on during the Antechamber, as well as the other 20+ voicelines the heads have. But it does appear in-game if you listen closely.
It's easier though to just listen to it in the devkit since you can find the isolated sound file for it.

Are These titans even alive or just an ai driven by tek

bold dove
tulip scaffold
bold dove

Titans are made out of only Corruption.
They're not "Corrupted" like other animals, they are the Corruption.
Which Corruption is in a way Element, and Element is alien in nature. Making the Titans technically the few real aliens in the series. (outside of the Astro-animals. And anything native to Arat in ARK-2)

tulip scaffold

Helena mentions something about him staying on his throne since Mei slashed at him.
Dude became the biggest coward in existence once he got his scar.

bold dove

Also, might just be a mechanical issue. But they do bleed in-game, and give meat when harvested. So I assume they're organic in nature, just created by Corruption.

tulip scaffold
#

Element has a swarm intelligent. And can replicate. So it’s an Robot ?

tulip scaffold
#

But its still an ai ? Maybe

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

But how can something out of Metal and Not flesh can be alive. So I would say normal Element is not alive. It’s just a Type of Robot. But it Can Change it Self to be alive

tulip scaffold
bold dove
# tulip scaffold But its still an ai ? Maybe

A.I would involve it being a robot.
We don't know the nature of Element fully.
Element is confirmed to be inspired by the Protomolecule from The Expanse. Which to my understanding, is also a literally living metal. Like a golem.

bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

Yeah hm

bold dove
#

Element, by all intents and purposes. Should not exist if ARK was realistic.

tulip scaffold
#

Yeah it’s (dont know the englisch Translationen) Halbwertszeit would be to Short

#

It would vaporice In mile seconds

bold dove
# tulip scaffold What is exactly corruption

From what I understand. It's an offshoot of Element.
Something happened in the Element war that we don't know of, and some Element became Corrupted and its hivemind became angy.
Though I think it's hinted that Corruption is just what happens when Element spreads too much and isn't monitored.

bold dove
bold dove
#

There's two theories of it I like. Both by the same person.

tulip scaffold
tulip scaffold
bold dove
# tulip scaffold Im listening

A: Corruption seeks to destroy a planet because it's the mature state of Element, and by destroying and causing a Element-infected planet to be destroyed, it can spread itself via the planet chunks (asteroids) so it can start its cycle again.
B: ARK's story has a lot of inspiration from Command & Conquer, and so it's possible that just like the alien resource in that universe. Element was created by a species of advanced lifeforms to be sent out and find planets with intelligent enough life to make them fat and more aggressive (technology and shit) before the species kills themselves via warfare, and the alien species can come down to the planet and harvest it for all of its resources.

#

B seems to be less likely, as Corruption didn't really leave anything behind on Earth to be harvested.

tulip scaffold
#

Or thanks to the Teck war it spread so much and rapidly that something went wrong and it corrupted and infested many of the Element

tulip scaffold
bold dove
#

All it wants to do is spread. But that's literally every lifeform that we know of to exist.
Corruption is the thing that destroys life.

#

The Genesis-ship shows that if done right, Element can be used without the need of mass pollution.

tulip scaffold
#

The arks are using a different type of Element. What name has it

#

And the normal nothing changed element is destroying. That’s why the genesis ship’s element is save

bold dove
#

It's using refined Element, which is Element melted with other metals to make an alloy.

#

Which at that point, the Element lifeform inside is basically dead/cooked out.

tulip scaffold
bold dove
tulip scaffold
#

Sure ? So what’s than the difference between these two

The other weapons could do something, but by that time it was too late. The Titan King had a whole army with many corrupted creatures and the titans. Also, if you placed each survivor from the arks on Earth, the vast majority would quickly die, either due to the environment or the shadows of the element. And if they managed to survive, they would have to learn how to use tek technology, because not all the engrammatic matrices came from the time when element was discovered. (Of course, we are talking about the King Titan in the lore, not the one we fight in the game.)
And when you say that someone could build something to kill him, well, that actually happened. Santiago built the meks, although he and the others, like Kazuma and Helena, died before fighting the King Titan. (In fact, Helena didn’t die, she ascended)

And the Orin Goddard of Mesa came down and saved the rest of the survivors. Transporting them to another timeline.

I kind of wish the non-BTT new creatures had dossiers you could find on the map, rather than just getting them on tame. Would you consider things like Rhyniognatha, Carcharodontosaurus, and Gigantoraptor canon?

also tbf, all of the new non-btt creatures have dossiers you can find on the map other then the gigantoraptor (cause it wasn't initially intended for the story maps), or at least so i've been told

But I don't see why the existence of the animals can't be canon post-Helena.
By the time we wake up, the ARK's are arguably in the most hostile state they've ever been in, so I can see new horros being created over time that Helena was never able to see.

lyric tendon
#

That is more in the headcanon territory tbh

bold dove
#

That's a majority of the lore that isn't directly given to us.

lyric tendon
#

Personally anything post helena is pretty much done for the ARKs

bold dove

Why wouldn't they produce new creatures though?

lyric tendon

It can produce cretures but linking creature votes as canon kinda contradicts the narrative timeline of Helena's journey from human to homodeus

mental basin
bold dove
lyric tendon
#

Some of the new dossiers, are just pure fluff tbh

Not to mention event creatures like the dodorex/wyvern has textless dossiers and the creatures of non-story ARKs has them too

bold dove
#

But either way, if we have three solutions here.
A: The new creatures are just flat out none canon.
B: Wildcard is just wiggling in the creature vote creatures into the timeline, even with the inconsistencies.
C: The creature vote dossiers aren't canon, but the creatures themselves are.

Gonna be honest. I don't think Jeremy would like them to not be canon, since he's always been about adding cool things to ARK and making that part of the narrative. (giant mek fights) so I think we can round that one out.
B: seems likely if they don't care. But C: seems to be the most realistic, since we've already established that the note locations and them being nearly perfectly preserved makes no sense at all.

lyric tendon
#

I mean he can disregard the lore and still be excited about adding new features

BTT and the Fantastic Tames are a great example of features that doesnt feel like it should be canon

We don't talk about Fantastic Tames.
BTT though is semi-canon, Jeremy has established this.

There's nothing in the lore to stop air balloons from floating. Only Tek-based devices from flying.

Aberration doesn't prevent things as a whole to fly canonically.

lyric tendon

Again the point here it is hard to canonify anything post-Ext (genesis has its own chapter) even when everything kinda contradicts to what the original writer intended

bold dove

As much as it pains me to say. What Marc did doesn't matter to a degree anymore.
He left almost 7 years ago. And the story was never his, it's Wildcard's.
This is sadly what happens when a IP runs its course longer then it should had and goes through multiple writers.
Jeremy if I recall stated on stream last year that ASA is the definitive version of ARK's lore. And if that's the case, then anything they establish in ASA is the new official canon.

#

ASE is kind of the Star Wars Legends of the ARK canon now.

#

Anything they add/rewrite in ASA is likely the new canon.

It wasn't until the new intro for Extinction back at the end of ASE's lifecycle that we got a hint of this relationship.
Beforehand, the notes during The Island had them only as friends. And even that's a bit of a stretch.
Helena only meets Mei-Yin to study her tames, and then convince her to help Helena to fight the Megapithicus because Mei-Yin was known to have the strongest tames on The Island at the time. (The Demon King)
After that, they barely interacted until they meet back up in the volcano as Mei-Yin is hunting down Nerva. But she knocks out Helena and dips out onto Aberration.
Wouldn't be really until Helena reaches Aberration that they would actually be what normal people consider "friends." As their previous relationship on The Island was more of a mutual benefit.

#

Mei-Yin was pretty anti-social during The Island notes.

not raw element 2 very diffrent things 1 is safe the other not so much

bold dove

We don't know the autotomy of an ARK. But we can assume they all work the same.
If Aberration has a giant ass vault full of raw Element in its deepest regions. We can assume every ARK has a raw Element cache before converting it into refined Element.

sharp walrus
#

kk also what happens to all the creatures on the arks do they stop respawning or are they contuined to respawn

bold dove
#

Because from what we've seen/where told in the notes. Refined Element can't spread, as it's basically dead.
So they'd need a raw Element stash to allow it to infinitely grow. But possibly having some sort of filtering system like the Genesis-ship has so it doesn't go out of control

bold dove
sharp walrus

so theres only a limted amount of those creatures

And they can't land because of the Titan's causing a fuck ton of Corruption. Because they are Corruption.
As he states, it has only gotten worse to the point the Reseed Protocol could no longer be activated without cutting off some portion of Corruption manually.
That's why the moment the King Titan dies, the ARK's can land and get rid of the rest of the Corruption/Element.

Yet, you where saying they weren't Corrupted.
"They're literally made out of Corruption

highly concentrated corruption"
The Titan's aren't "highly concentrated corruption"
They're just more Corruption.
The ARK's can kill them. But they weren't meant for that, as Titan's where out of the equation when the ARK's where being constructed.
But they don't. Because of their protocol preventing them from coming down and just blasting them, Thanos style.

main mural

highly concentrated corrupted is more corruption same difference.

bold dove

yeah, because if they could then they would've.
if you are just gonna assume they can but don't because of the reseed protocols then what would the reason for that be.
why would they set a limit on the reseed protocle if it could handle it anyway.

#

there is just no reason to assume it can handle the titans when we know they don't land because of them.

bold dove
#

Because the ARK's where created with the mindset that the Corruption would die off over time on a dead planet/at least get weaker. Not keep getting stronger.

main mural

they were designed to wait until it got weak enough where it could destroy the rest.

#

thats what happened at the end of extinction

bold dove
# main mural they were designed to wait until it got weak enough where it could destroy the r...

Yerp.
And it only got stronger.
The entire point is the process of the ARK's and The System are flawed. So flawed that it required breaking it to actually save Earth.
Corruption was still pretty unknown and alien by the time the ARK's where made for them. So they didn't know it would just keep getting stronger.
This is shown in The One Who Wait's notes, as she mentions the ARK's where never made to last thing long in orbit. That due to The System keep increasing the standard to get onto Earth and activate the Reseed Protocol, to the point it's impossible for the average survivor to meet The System's requirements to reach Earth without breaking it.
It's why Helena sends us to Aberration, a destroyed ARK that has a portal made by the Tek-Tribe to finally break the endless loop, go onto Earth, and manually kill the Titan's and lower the Corruption ourselves so the Reseed Protocol can be activated.

I believe the reason Rockwell isn’t controlled by the king titan is because the king titan and the other titans have been said by Helena to be vessels for the sort of “consciousness” that the corruption has (not a true consciousness but still malevolent) and they are made purely from corruption instead of being corrupted creatures, they’re hollow vessels made purely for its consciousness. Rockwell is a conscious being whose mind is corrupted but not controlled (supposedly because he’s conscious). He can’t be controlled because he’s intelligent but he can be manipulated into hate

So been established by someone else more smarter then me in dm's. But tl;dr is that (firstly Corruption is 100% conscious. It's just full of hate. The King Titan ran away out of fear from being harmed) Element and Corruption aren't really that different, and Corruption is just the endpoint/mature state of Element. If they where different, there'd be competition or hatred towards each other, yet we've never seen this.
Yet as it stands, the King Titan is less of the manifestation of Corruption, and more just an avatar for the Corruption. (think of the Hive Tyrant from Warhammer and how the Hivemind is a independent, non-physical leader. Yet the Hive Tyrants are direct avatars it can control or the avatar can have independence)
The reason why the King Titan can't control him is due to this. The King Titan doesn't have that power over Rockwell, because he's under Element's influence. And in turn, already is controlled by the Corruption/Element.
Just for some unknown reason, he still has most of his conscious attached, just more obsessive and angry.

Also, small detail I just realized.
Rockwell didn't gain his god complex until Aberration, when he started experimenting on new life and mutations.
Compare this to Scorched where the worse he did was just poison a village full of ethically questionable people. (though the baby didn't deserve anything)
So makes me thing that his god complex of wanting to create life was a byproduct of his influence then it was an actual unique thought from himself.
