Uma also references element being made by a god so- i guess it just depends how you look it
"The dominant personality-a gold prospector from Alta California-was also given the memories of an Alexandrian occultist from the Roman Principate."
I interpreted the dream as memories but Rockwell could've just been screwing with him, the way i see it though its being laid out pretty plainly
It also doesn't say anything about Rockwell making him, he just was created when the AIs started glitching out because of Rockwell
So i guess he indirectly made him? But it wasn't a direct pet project
Mashing up two sets of genetics would just give us a new offspring that never organically happened, but this is like we stitched a random pair of souls together.
Hope my warning flag keeps that poor bastard from ever getting incarnated.
I can't picture an AI ever glitching out enough to resurrect an aberrant engram.
I love the use of the word aberrant there
I would like to think thats also in reference to Aberration glitching out enough after the nuke to use Rockwell and keep reviving him as overseer
wat
I don't even know at this point
I give up lmao
But either way, Gabriel wasn't made until at least the ship was in flight, if not at least after everyone awake on the ship was dead, because they wouldn't have started to make a body for a flawed engram, right? So it must've been Rockwell's doing, in his quest for subservience
Via process of elimination
Orrrrr just when he smashed up the AIs they started screwing up and made him despite the flag like Santiago implied
Why would he have awoken anyone normally without trying to turn them into one of his corrupted survivors beforehand?
We already know the systems were screwing up, people were waking up, it wasn't just Rockwell deliberately waking people up
While the flag Santiago put on it would've definitely drawn attention to him by Rockwell whats the odds he wasn't just made by the malfunctioning AIs and only got Rockwells attention as he was waking up and Rockwell was trying to recruit him?
Similar to what Rockwell did with us in the simulation, he only tried to recruit us as we were waking up, he couldn't care less beforehand we weren't his problem
(by waking up i mean during the boss fight but close enough)
What are the odds? Extremely low. Would you make an AI be in control (not to mention capable) of mashing together un-verified engrams and just calling it good? I don't think the last remaining humans alive would, but to each their own
Ai are actually very good at mashing things together lol
I mean the AI didn't create him Yongki's team did but Santiago never said the flag meant he couldn't be created he just said he hoped the AI never would do that
And after a virus has left your system in pieces the AI has an excuse to be a little screwy and to do something like that
I don't know why we can't just let it be simple and accept the information thats being given to us instead of having to go in some big loop around it
Santiago mentions he hopes the AI doesn't glitch and create Gabriel? Rockwell causes the AI to glitch? Nah i think Rockwell deliberately created Gabriel to use him without doing any of the steps he did for his corrupted people and was just completely careless about it
It's a vague and underexplained situation for precisely this reason, and that's the last thing I'm saying on the matter as reading most any chat in this discord makes my head hurt
Now you know why I stopped responding
Also hating Gen 2 lore
Just because you hate it it doesn't mean you can ignore it
It's hard to ignore when there is a wall of text lol
No replies proved that case tbf
Sure I can
Actually, you can
What's Genesis-2 again?
The conclusion to Ark 1?
Nah, that's Extinction
Then the Segway to Ark 2? Im not sure what else you expect me to call it
I am, in fact, ignoring it
Welllll ignoring it doesn't mean its not canon so you just have a flawed sense of the lore by ignoring it
Aren't you the guy that tried to make reason of a unreasonable man?
I don't think you can talk much about 'flawed sense of the lore'
I obviously have a less flawed view of it than you since I'm actually looking at the lore as a whole and not just looking at what i like because i worship the old writer?
Because my insecurities about Genesis-2 says so
Interesting interesting
why is there a spot named "santiagos grave" in extinction?
Cause it's his grave

The best one died, all we get now is a bootleg grunty caveman
Santiago is really just kinda like Bruce Banner/The Hulk
honestly the gen 2 santiago reveal would have had more impact if we hadn't already seen him in the ark 2 trailer
I think the gen 2 Santiago reveal would've been better if they didn't retcon Santiago to be Vin Diesel
also yes
I want the fluffy haired nerdy hacker boy back not the buff shirtless strong man
Literally just what happened to him
Even in Gen 2 he wasn't the bald man
That didn't happen until he woke up for Ark 2????
Vin Diesel could've played literally anyone else
G i v e m y b o y h i s h a i r b a c k
since die hard there's been a trend toward bald action stars
I dunno why its odd
At least dont change a characters appearance to the point of no longer looking like that character
Maybe Rockwell just did that because he thought it would be funny
they got vin diesel, they're gonna use his face to sell the game
"Oh that pos is still here im gonna make him bald"
They could've just made Vin Diesel his whole own character instead of recycling the same character for the third time
Thats what im gonna pretend happened because its funny
if they get the recognizeable actor, they're gonna use their fame to boost sales
^^^
All of this could've been solved if respawning wasn't canon.
I often wish certain parts of it weren't lol
But it's not that bad
It is by far my least liked notes.
Why did they have to make it canon? Like man, gameplay is gameplay lol
Gameplay and lore are not da same
Cause somebody in the office probably thought it was a cool idea, and didn't realize shit like that make the world boring.
I guess so
Or Marc had a moment of being a dummy
All writers make mistakes
I love the man, but his writing isn't flawless either.
Yeah, but some make bigger ones then others.
He gave us a very good story though, happy about that
Besides the fact Helena is an idiot.
We ignore that part
Although, I do think they tried to portray everyone as idiots to make them more real
We shouldn't though.
Helena, the main protagonist of the notes, is single handily the dumbest character in the universe.
There's a degree of 'not knowing' and 'being a flatout dumb ass'
Main protagonist, why, because she wrote the notes and was helpless?
Cause the plot centered around her.
She's obviously the protagonist.
Everything important happens to her.
Not really, her plot did
Because she wrote about it lol
The only really important thing she did was make it possible for Bob to be Bob and die a billion times
The survivor isn't part of the notes.
Which is what I'm 'exclusively' talking about.
Alright, then Helena was hardly important to the events on the arks
Other than aiding Rockwell in understanding the artifacts lol
They'll probably change that in the show, but Helena really had little impact. I think it's a stretch to call her the protaginist
No shit, Sherlock Holmes.
But literally everything happens to her.
-She's the one to bring Mei into the gorilla fight it.
-She's the one to find Raia and get her and Rockwell guided the tek-cave on Scorched.
-She's the one to help Mei fight off mutated Rockwell.
-Her and Mei became the last two survivors on Earth.
-She's the one that put a mysterious object in her arm, becoming a literal god-like being.
If it wasn't 2 in the morning, I'd be able to think of more things to list off.
TBF she did admit it twice lol
wait so him and helena went to extinction after abberation then
Santiago, Mei, and Helena basically
We literally made a movie about this lol
I aint reading allat
Who the fuck are you, and why are you bothering reading a message that isn't towards you?
Lawl
- i aint reading allat
Didn't ask.
Cuh!
L + Ration, nerd.
Booger aids person
Silence trend!
Tf is happening lol
I have no idea
Lol
I think its a cringe-off
I know we've already established that you people don't like this stuff but I've read up a little bit on the actual cult of Serapis that would've served as the inspiration for Ixion, interesting stuff
Why would no one like that?
Lets say, hypothetically speaking, that Nida was the imposter, and, hypothetically speaking, that she was venting from place to place
Would that make her, hypothetically speaking, sus?
Okay, now I can see why no one likes it
Are all those who wander sus ?? Maybe she enjoys going from place to place ?
ඞ
Kill it
Yes
Haha. What task are we doing in ark ? 🙂
The missions are the tasks and when Rockwell implodes the ship thats us failing to fix the imposters sabotage
I hate it, but I can't entirely disagree lol
Snap !!! Think you’re on to something. !!
By the property of substitution, does that mean that among us is a biblical reference?
When you think about it the last supper is just a big game of among us, trying to find out who the imposter is that is going to betray Jesus
The entire universe is among us
I aint reading allat
At least when i troll it's not just boring i try to make it interesting
Don't worry, they're new. So they have no rights.
When was this server birthed from Wildcards loins anyways
I think I've been here basically since it was publicized, maybe a short bit after
Like three years
Yeah, no. You've been here for only two-ish years.
I can see
Ignore my date on my profile. I sometimes leave as a gag for jokes, so it'll reset the date.
Oh nevermind then, i only joined around when gen 2 released because thats when i found out about it
after swiftly getting banned from the original unnofficial Ark server for saying hi to someone who had been banned
Yeah, I heard that server is a real work
It was fun while it lasted
I believe the reason on my ban was "disputing moderation and lying badly" because i said "hi person i was here when you were muted 24 hours ago "
I got banned from that server for saying ark 2 would release in 100 years.
So he banned me for 100 years.
💀
lmao
Is there any explanation for how shadowmanes, Wyverns, etc. Came into existence?
Because the ARKs backed up "every creature to ever exist" and I'm 80% sure that didn't involve dragons
wyverns specifically were meant as a challenge to the survivors on SE
something to stop them from getting complacent
like the giga on the island and reapers on ab
There was like a big earthquake and the ground cracked and out came a lot of jerks and started attacking people
Its kinda like the Hobbit movies if you watched those
overall they were added since the arks were meant to reseed the earth with a balance of flora and fauna. wyverns and such were created to try to find a good balance, even with mythical creatures
shadowmanes specifically, i got no clue
"good balance"
The terran federation unleashing literal horrors that can destroy entire towns in minutes "for the meme":
Deathworms were made for the same purpose as the leedsicthy.... I cant apell taht i just randomly woke up at 6 am... The big whale, to keep people from heading too close to the outer barrier
leedsicthys iirc
I thought the mosasaur was the thing designed to stop them from getting close to the barrier
The leedsicthys was to stop people from trying to boat to the barrier, the mosasaur was to prevent anyone who was trying to swim
the ocean itself was supposed to be a barrier
overall the alien things have unknown origins overall
ravagers could be mutated wolves
How did Rockwell survive his battle against the Survivor on Aberration?
Is it ever explained how he managed to survive the extreme damage inflicted on him or is it more of a "just trust me" scenario
i assume some part of him survived
A bunch of us went in to troll, the admin checked all of our profile ages and banned everyone except me because they were too "new"
funny man
I have a feeling it could have to do with element. He kinda just sits in a pool of it, right? It probably helped him regenerate
Wasn't the element also melting away at him?
Isn't that the reason why his entire chest cavity and lower torso are missing in ab and his lower torso is missing in gen2?
He is tentacle monster
Doubt it, that's probably from the mutation process... his bottom half became something else
But interesting theory though
Element water killing all dinos, so i think he at least 50% right
Rockwell should've never gone exploring BC he got bored tbh
Would've made things a lot less complicated
He should have stayed home drinking tea
True
It's literally the domino meme it's just
"Going exploring one day"
"Dying multiple aeons in the future in a fiery explosion thousands of lightyears from earth after becoming a grotesque purple flesh monster and infecting a giant starship"
"Survive all and try to take under control new planet"
If Rockwell survived I'm going to cause a riot
We dont know if he die
He 100% died
Otherwise HLN-A's sacrifice was for nothing and giving him back a shred of his humanity in his final moments is poor writing
He survive aberration get to the simulation and take under control half of the spaceship
What if he launch pod with piece if his flesh?
Yes sorry
I'm pretty sure he survived aberration due to his
You know
Brain still being intact
Considering he was literally intertwined with the entire colony ship, his entire body was 100% destroyed in the blast
I just dont think what ark 2 will be just fighting with the local inhabitants
Avatar plot
ye where ARK
ye but ARK 2 is not on earth
I know
Game need to do this name
ark: taking over a new planet
British simulator 7089
😂
its even funnier when you remember Rockwell is British
Its better than just
He's coming for you
Ark isn't realistic, Helena is Australian and Rockwell is English, it is physically impossible for them to interact with eachother without violence
why didn't Rockwell just make a philosopher's stone instead of injecting himself with all sorts of incomprehensible bullshit
Because he's a chemist, not an alchemist
Wind the clock back 600 or so years and everything would've been fine but nooo
We had to get a 19th century prick instead of a cocaine huffing 11th century paint drinker who sacrifices their body for science
I wish we got an actual insane character in Ark
Like Nerva may be power hungry but he's from imperial Rome, that's expected of the time period
None of the characters are unhinged at the beginning
See aforementioned 11th century alchemist
I saw some there what the one of the main objective will be to protect daugther
Is it right?
''Starring Vin Diesel ("Riddick") as legendary ARK hero Santiago, experience an epoch-spanning adventure as he seeks to protect his daughter Meeka -- voiced by Auli'i Cravalho ("Moana") -- from the ghosts of the ancient past and visions of a new future.''
"ghosts of the ancient past" Helena is that you
😂
likely referring to the damage element/tek caused to earth
Rockwell making his 3rd comeback
3 messages got sent simultaneously, and of course discord puts me at the bottom 👎🏽
Average distanced from server enjoyer
I think you are right
My uncle who works for Joe Biden told me that he’s running for governor of Florida
“Florida man infected with unknown disease, arm turns black and purple”
“Florida man mutates into monstrosity, citizens unbothered”
"Florifa man become tentacle monster and take under control a giant space ship"
Angry British Tentacle Monster
Likely because he has been elevated to overseer position so the system likely just revived him as it would the overseer on the island and the manticore on scorched
Honestly i think we should feel bad for what we did
n a h
We're giving some poor delusional old man heart arrhythmias until he drowns in his own piss instead of trying to help him because some random lady told us to
his punishment is deserved tbh
if he wants to be a god, then suffer from success
plus he's gonna be a butt head again in Gen 2, so... no remorse
If i drowned in my own piss i would probably be a butthead again too
he is already a butt head to begin with
Yeah but thats why we should've tried to give him help instead of giving him heart arrhythmias
I think Helena's the villain tbh
least we forget, he left the baby die in the desert, turned a shinehorn into a mutant out of sheer desperation, being greedy AF
and commit massacre thrice*
*implying the SE tribes are "dead"
nah helana is a dum'bass, she even admit it herself
at least what Helena did is unintentional, and out of sheer cluelessness
Rockwell in the other hand, he is a living OSHA and Geneva Convention violation with serval war crimes under his belt
Technically he is none of those things because he isn't at war and OSHA doesn't exist in the ark universe at least anymore
We don't know that
Maybe it's just named differently after the Arat Prime incident
the Tek Tribe are from the Future.... they know what OSHA is
(given we are making memes about it in the present)
But thats assuming our timeline is linear to the Ark timeline up to this exact point in time
...it is, save for the stuff that is obviously not real/unproven (the survivors from the past, the engrammic matrix, etc.) The element meteor doesn't hit til the early 22nd century or sometime around there
rockwell was a bad person through and through (also hi i'm alive kinda)
he was a self-centered entitled awful person. but he was still human
honstly that's, the thing I really like about his character
you don't feel forced to feel bad, it's for you to work out
i like his kind of "evil" until Gen 2 when they made "us feel bad for him" kind of vibe
he already committed enough warcrimes that is not worth redemption
In his voiced Notes on The Island, he's just a benign old man who put his research above all else. Not in a bad way, but it was what's important to him.
Rockwell was the single most important individual on the island for keeping diplomacy and peace, at least until nerva and his artifact obsession
diplomacy is not his prime priority tho
He was the one everyone went to
Once his work was stifled, he became increasingly bitter with everyone on The Island. Not to mention that he was the guy everyone went to for their problems.
because of his recepies
... No.
It was not his priority, but it was his biggest value to the political scene early in the story
He didn't really become bad until he put his research value higher than everything else, and that was after they discovered the artifacts
And he only did it to gain a better reputation to get better supplies, not cause he actually cared.
he values having human subjects over being a diplomat of The Island
At that point, all he particularly cared about was progressing his scientific work. Him siding with Nerva was in order to accomplish that, not to mention the fact that he actually agreed with Nerva’s view on The Island.
He was conceited and arrogant, but his role was kind of vital, and it was his failing to keep that role that let nerva steamroll everyone
We never get to see the conversation, but I have a sinking feeling Rockwell was in someway the one who truly got manipulated. You can see it in Nerva’s Notes, too.
Nerva read Rockwell like a book lol
Eventually, his obsession with the Artifacts grew, along with his resent for The Island's inhabitants. Especially Mei, which he rightfully shared hatred with Nerva for. His only information about her was lies about her being a savage, barbarian cannibal.
Once he knew Helena was working with this horrible woman, he lost all respect for her. And it appears he grows an inferiority complex around this point.
On Scorched, its the same-old same-old. But turned up to 10.
But it all makes sense, considering his logic.
Bit by bit he convinced himself that what he was doing was in the name of progression-
And that's how it was since the beginning! All about progression, and making his 'scientific utopia'. His desire for progress was only increased by The Hall of History.
And could you blame him??? He was from the 18th century!
Yes, I could.
Then that's your problem, and you're objectively a Knucklehead McSpazatron.
And you're a nicapoop.
I think this is the single most important thing when it comes to trying to understand Rockwell. The really did capture the 18th century scientist vibe very well in the story
Seeing that he had only scratched the surface of his work, he needed to go deeper. He HAD to. For PROGRESS. He already put his research on a pedestal, and coming to find out that there was so, so much more behind everything, every single thing he had ever known- he just had to make progress. Progress, PROGRESS!!
It's easy to make character judgements on him early in the story based on modern morality, but based on 18th century ideals he kind of was the ideal guy until he went overboard on later maps
Bruh, you're pumping out 50+ character texts a second.
Who's the spazatron here. 💀
It didn't matter how many he killed, how many were hurt, who, why or when. He had to unlock the mystery behind the ARKs.
And it had to be HIM, nobody else.
Inferiority complex and jealousy can do something to someone.
Even in the end, in his mutated state, it's all in the name of progress. He wanted to make that 'scientific utopia' from his fantasies past- and not only did he have the power and resources to, but he WOULD'VE, if it wasn't for The Ones Who Try Again.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk, I'm here for the foreseeable future.
Can you give me a TL;DR?
Rockwell did everything for the sake of a better future. HE had to do it, 'cuz he was a jealous be-yotch.
Rockwells the kind of guy to say you did something wrong, do it the same exact way and claim its better.
Let me take that information and use it as toiletpaper.
Must I call over a moderator to end your petty crusade?
I'm obviously joking
Like, sure.
But what're they going to fine me over? I didn't break any rules.
I'll respectfully use that information to use as toiletpaper

And like, you can be an ass while being respectful.
I do it all the time in front of the moderators.
Yeah he lost it
It's called 'respectfully an ass'
I think he started losing it when Helena went to the obelisk without him
Ayo, can I join?
PAUSE
And from there it was a very steady downward spiral right until he injected himself with molten element

That's where the inferiority complex begins.
And the crushing jealousy.
Wouldn't it had actually started at the artifact, but fully came into light at the obelisk?
Not really, that just increased his urge to make progress.
Well no, because until that moment he was only mildly interested in the artifacts
That in and of itself isn't that bad.
Helena going without him spurred him to join the New Legion
Which progress feeds him inferiority complex, no?
He joined beforehand.
Really?
Yep
The explorer note timeline is wierd
Not until Helena goes with Mei to the Monke.
He did it cause they had better equipment for him to use. Or something like that
I mean, the new legion did kind of have a lot of appeal to an 18th century colonizer
Don't worry about a timeline. If we listened to everything in the Notes, Santiago would be hundreds of years old.
Touché
@plain plover do the roar
Ark Santiago or Genesis Santiago
It makes sense that he would throw in with them
Red say the funny
Is there any explanation for why the ARKs are deserted during gameplay or is it literally for gameplay reasons
It's not even gameplay reasons
The 'canon' way of experiencing ARK would be on a PvP Server
But screw PvP and screw Servers
Ark is supposed to be multi-player, so it was never supposed to be empty
Ok but Ark multiplayer sucks
Exactly
It has pros and cons. But it is the way the game was designed to play
That's why I'm a li'l schizo who litters his house with Training Dummies so I feel less lonely
😩
Least insane ark player
The dodos are my friends
Skill issue
According to Santiago 2.0's notes, Yongki says he died in the 2300s, but according to Diana's notes, all the village members are from the 2140s. meaning if Santiago actually died like Yongki said he did, he would be over 180 years old
Likely Yongki's memories are also false and this was a hiccup by the transhumans who cloned him
or
"Diana 2.0, this is my Arch Nemesis, Santiago"
"amugus"
"He has dementia"
*unplugs life support
I find it incredibly funny that the tek tribe destroyed aberration because they just
Didn't realise they were in space
And blew the shield to pieces with a bomb
*Overseer
I have no idea why the overseer didn't simply regenerate
That's assuming it has the ability to do so
Or anything was left of it
TBH the overseer is not the only thing got exploded by the nuke
||The Entire Arena Got NUKED||
I think what we do to the islands during that boss fight is only slightly less damaging that a nuke
It just depends how you fight it i guess
I think a heavily malfunctioning and broken overseer would've been a far cooler fight than Rockwell ngl
Would be cool if he made use of the old Overseer.
Like if he just fucking picked it up and flung it at us.
But the overseer is made of literal pixels tho
Yeahhh I knowww
Plus the overseer arena is in space, not inside the ARK
Rockwell is possibly inside a Guardian Arena
Or his own arena
He should just pick himself up and fling himself at us
What if he is deeply rooted in the ARK tho
Since Ab is falling apart and all
I think his ability to sink and rise out of the element and his tentacles ability to do so too just kinda leaves him swimming in the soup
But he can't jump, let alone walk
We don't know that
Maybe he was jumping around before we got down there
Maybe he was using his tentacles as jump ropes
He would've slam us already with his huge mass if he did
Him being rooted makes sense
Him sinking in the element pool, is just that... Sinking
If he was rooted where would he sink to
If he was rooted i think its also way more likely he wouldn't have made it out of the Aberration crash alive
Hell i don't even know how he made it out of the Aberration crash even if he wasn't rooted
Like imagine just casually locking someone in an elevator and punting them down from orbit through the atmosphere
I thought aberration descended as usual
If he can survive the bullet hell and explosives that we pelt at him, I am sure he can survive a crash
You know, being made of element and all
Ok but can Rockwell survive Deez nuts (I named my level 500 1000% melee damage karkinos Deez nuts)
In the true ending (beating Alpha King)
Ab crashed
Wow that happens whenever I try and boot up ab /s
Getting shot is considerably different than falling from space in a trap of metal and stone
It's pretty much confirmed that rockwell survived in extinction ascension cut scene
Yeah i know im just saying it makes no sense that anything could survive that
Not necessarily, the other two pillars of the Ark still worked
Don't see why they would just decide to not at least try and slow the descent on reentry
Maybe the aberration landing protocol wasn't as broken as the rest of the ark
Rockwell could have also used his overseer abilities to help it land safely
It's not like Aberration was entirely broken, either. The majority of the Ark works fine...
But I understand the common misconception that the Ark is entirely screwed
The only reason its not literally falling apart in gameplay is because it's gameplay
Because it is screwed what
That's the entire reason it crashed
Kablooey
Kaput
If you take 1/4 or the rotors on a drone it will not fly in a controllable manner
Sí
It will spin and spiral out of your control
Like Aberration
It looked fine in the extinction cut scene
Works fine enough, and the reason it crashes is because of that one pillar being blown apart, it's not like it fell to Earth at light speed lmao
My brother in Christ it was splayed across the ground more than your m-
Sure, it broke up and such, but it didn't just explode into bits or anything
It wasn't atomized or some shit
I'd say there was a degree of not so much an explosion, but shattering
Considering there's an Element Terminal from DEEP within the Caverns flung all the way out onto the surface, a reasonable distance from the ARK
You know I could never figure out what the mass was that was behind the ARK
Just a massive looming THING that isn't Rockwell obviously
There were terminals on the surface of the Ark too
Wait what
And the ones we see inside aren't that deep, either
Since when was that a thing, speak of inconvenience
I'd like my Element well done please
Aberration is by far my least played story DLC
You don't need to play a DLC to know the lore??
So I've heard
Scorched is the worst
Scorched has the best and most interesting caves of any DLC
Map design is booty tho
Ext has the worst
Oh for sure
Scorched has the worst soundtrack as well
Mainly because there isn't enough of it
Described as "Dungeons" by Wildcard initially, the Caves of Extinction proved to be incredible linear hallways filled with high-Level Creatures as a sense of fake difficulty

Giga go brrrrrr
Gen 2 has the worst map design
Bruh
They literally just copy pasted the same rock structures literally everywhere
They did not
Yeah no, that's Scorched still
They did😭
They copy pasted ONE mountain into Fjord iirc
Gen 2 is really nice tf you mean
Nekatus using gen 2 assets like:
They ended up with like 10 of the same ratholes in gen 2 because they copy pasted the same rock formation all across the garden
Gen 1 has the worst Map design, which is ironic because that's where it was supposed to shine.
Absolutely horrible.
The ocean of Gen 1 sucks, everything else is great
I'd rather be hit in the head with a brick than be forced to do a Solo playthrough of Gen 1.
The ocean is actually my favorite
Umm, that's kinda how they make maps lol
A bunch of the same rock assets in used in different ways
I don't like the lunar
the man has scorched as his favorite map design, that speaks for itself
I wish all the oceans on maps had the same detail the gen 1 ocean has
In terms of best design:
Volcano
Lunar
Ocean
Arctic
Bog
The Bog makes me want to die
If anything is copy pasted its Bog
And everything is green blue and orange, I get lost so easily
Gen 1 all around was just a flop imo
Sorry WC
Skill issue
Welcome back, I'm Mr. Beast and today I'll be dropping 300 innocent Survivors into the Bog Biome of the Genesis Simulation
The last one to go clinically insane wins a 20 minute joyride on an Astrodelphis
I think the only creatures worth anything from either gens were the bloodstalker and the maewing
Magmas honestly just aren't worth the pain of going to get them
🤨
Unless you feel like breeding an entire army of X-Rexes
Which I doubt anyone wants to do
Y'all are both silly
Just transfer gigas over, ez
Thats what i do
You forgot the tek strider
Here's something I've never understood
Why don't people every take advantage of Transferring
Anyone who likes feroxs just think they're better than everyone else so they think they have to use a ferox instead of a jerboa
Honestly it makes bossfights so much easier
Like on Gen 2
Bring your army to a Mission Terminal and upload them, and all your items
Die and respawn into Rockwell
Unupload everything
Saves you so much time yet NOBODY does it
It's understandably more difficult on other Maps, but that doesn't excuse the fact that nobody does it on Gen 2

Easier to just fly there with cryos, or better yet have cave building on and just tp to the cliff plaform you put up next to the terminal
But with Cryos you have to not only wait, but fly there yourself
It's faster to just upload-suicide-unupload
Unless you don't have Cryosickness enabled
Then that's more understandable
Who tf plays with that enabled
Hello
Absolute masochists?
Fair, forgot who I was speaking to for a sec
Honestly though honestly though
I'm almost done breeding my Megath army for Broodmommy
I've never beaten a boss besides Gamma/Beta Rockwell Prime
Overseer here I come babyyy

Whe
I've beat uhhhh gamma broodmother, alpha center, beta Rockwell, gamma rockwell prime, and i w o u l d v e had gamma master controller if my old tribe had any idea what they were doing
I've beaten one Boss on two Difficulties in my entire 5-something years of playing ARK
plays Ark
is obsessed with the lore
hasn't beaten the game in Singleplayer 50 times
mfw
🤨
Ke ke ke
What's the point of that
Killing them
Killing them
Wack
You earned the killing them
No but honestly what the hell have you been doing all these years
I earned the killing them
Play the damn story boyo
Good
It's fun
besides thinking scorched is the best map, wich it isn't by far
Getting to midgame and resetting my data
Oh, you're one of those
Never said it was the best TF
Putting words in my mouth
My buddy is one of those too
Mfw i play a game for 5 years and never beat it
The island is fun but only if you play without flyers
Ooh new CuZ ARK video drops today
He also has over 50 different saves for Skyrim like some kind of weirdo
I never beat skyrim once it is not a good game
GET OUT
Eso is better than skyrim in basically every way
And thats because it wasn't made by Bethesda

He loads one up, gets conflicted on what to do, then makes another character
Bethesda has like.... Never made a good game
Clown takes, I don't make the rules
Todd Howard bootlickers
Before Todd even joined they made good games LMAO
Ever heard of Daggerfall
(I doubt it, but)
You probably buy crown crates every season too, huh?
Nope
can someone play with me
Well, there's that at least
I don't even buy eso plus
I like opening crates when i have them because no risk gambling is like my favorite thing ever but buying them is dumb
Anywho, gonna go play Sons of the Forest now, since this has turned into #general 2, as signified by the fresh join

a literal opposite of the a majority of ARK Players who still dont know the lore despite having the knowledge of cheesing bosses
I still think intentionally pumping people full of misinformation would be funny
If I had known yutys could fear the enemies in that fight, we would have won
Go on
Fallout 3, fallout 4, fallout 76, elder scrolls 3: Morrowind, elder scrolls 4: oblivion, elder scrolls 5: Skyrim, etc
Did...you just say 76?

Yes
It's got more active monthly players than ESO, has a fun gameplay loop and has regular massive content updates every 3-4 months
Into the Pitt, Nuka-World on Tour, etc.
Yeah, fuck no.
Every update has been nothing but disappointment to me.
How
Cause it feels like a generic MMO then an actual Fallout game.
Same can be said with ESO
Any fallout that isn't New Vegas is sub-par
Was 3 even Bethesda or was it still Obsidian back then?
Bethesda
Looking at the steam charts right now from the past 3 months, and ESO has double of what 76 has
Bethesda
76 is still a good game imo
Good opinion, but sorry for your taste.
I don't play 76 religiously, I mostly just play it whenever I have 1-2 hours to burn and I don't feel like loading up any of my other games
It's my dedicated time waster
Fallout 3: a rocky but good start, felt like a first-person Fallout experience.
New-Vegas felt like what Black-Isle wanted to make, but graphically doesn't hold up. RPG-elements of the gameplay are still solid though, and the gameplay would probably still holdup heavily if it had Fallout-4's gunplay.
Fallout-4 finally made using guns not a chore, but at the cost of removing almost literally every RPG-elements the previous titles had.
76 is everything with 4 (since they're more or less the same game) but with a buggy-mess of a online no one really asked for.
76 was good until they ruined it with microtransactions
I will always be salty of Bethesda making the radiation system the most lackluster piece of shit in 4.
It just removes your max HP.....
Radiation, the very thing the series is built around, the real-life horror of something that can burn your skin without you seeing it.
Fucking decreases your max HP.
Ok but that's more of a threat then like -1 strength and perception from radiation poisoning in 3 and new Vegas
Like all those games did was give you a debuff and didn't actually damage you
4 actually sucks the life out of you
Not really, since the SPECIAL stats where more important back then.
They really weren't for the most part
Ever played Fallout 1-2?
Then you should know radiation did kill you in those games.
Yeah, by damaging you in the same way 4 does, just without the max health reduction
Radiation wasn't even really deadly, you can run around the glow perfectly fine for the most part
It reduces your special stats.
If you had some rad-away and rad-x, yeah.
But if you go there without any radiation resistance, by the time you get the BoS keycard, you're special stats are going to be fucked.
You also just flat out died if you had more than a certain amount, which makes more sense than 4 in every way
Also, some bad takes in here today, but I'm not gonna try and convince anyone otherwise. It gets tiring
I'm interested in what you have to say about my takes.
Too bad

Not the channel for that.
Then you probably shouldn't ask here at all
Edmundium better name than ele tbh
I disrespectfully disagree
We all have our opinions
Some more wrong then others
How long was the element war?
If I recall, around 100+ years
Nopw
I am in fact, wrong
According to the addendums in Gen 2 it was about... I dunno, 50 iirc? Lemme check. It was kinda short.
Christ
I thought it started in the 23rd century, and ended in the 25th?
50 years to be fair isn't that short.
That's kind of medium length.
Both world-wars where like 20-ish years, no?
Ah, we got an end date. Never got a beginning.
50 years of Terran Federation and United Republic of Earth bombing each other with sentient element
Ahhh
no wonder element was like "Im gonna corrupt these peeps"
So... if Diana's Notes in Ext are accurate... which they aren't... the war would be almost 200 years.
Honestly, if Element didn't become corrupted, humanity was probably fucked either way with all of the bombing
All the Survivors memories are, for the most part, fake...
So to answer your question, Wiseness, we dunno how long the war lasted.
Okay, so that's where I most likely got my 100+ years
Yeah, she said she was born early 2200s.
Which doesn't line up with Santiago's timeline. Her memories are false.
does anyone like the look of ark 2? i dont
As is everyone else's on the ARKs... Santiagios weren't really faked though, of course.
They were just cut before his death...
Depends
Story or gameplay wise?
Or graphically.
Gameplay wise, it sounds good in concept, I just hope it doesn't stay primitive for 8+ years.
Story-wise, I'm not looking forward to.
Genesis-2 kind of ruined my thrill of ARK's lore.
Unreal Engine was originally designed for single-player games
👍
What? No.
It was for Unreal Tournament.
Which was a Quake-like online shooter.
ok
'ok' 💀
First time hearing about unreal tournament
why is there only one kind of mek when santiago designed a few different ones?
Gameplay
Lazy developers
But if I had to think of a lore reason, probably cause the engram within our brain was Santiago's design.
Iirc the Genship travels at the speed of light for 3 hrs a night
If we uh took that into account
78,069 years pass per nightly jump
:troII:
dude
I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that
Watch Wildcard not take this into account-
see what
That bit of information
Mine?
Mine
Ahh.
Ain't no WAY 78,069 years pass per nightly jump
whats the biggest tribe you can have on any server?
Not the place
Yeah, cause if that was the case, a in-game year would be like a Trillion years, no?
how did rockwell get to the genesis ship?
He slithered his calamari ass to Arat-Prime and uploaded his consciousness.
Okay, so Earth is dead
Oooooh, that's why we went onto the Genesis ship xD
Before it he survive falling from the sky
Yes yes he does
So a year outside of the ship would be 28,495,185
IF my calculations are correct
Yeah, another five years and the death of the universe is coming. 💀
Well, that's kind of a 'no shit'
How would he be able to get to Arat-Prime as a corpse?
he will survive it too
@mental basin By the way, did you like my tweet I sent?
RedGear is an interesting person sometimes
Space travel is weird....
Sci-fi magic shit
Didn't they literally say though it does travel through space?
He's right though
I'm taking teleporting over ls

Honestly, fuck it.
Better then everything being dead within 5-7 years
Yes, HLN-A says it 'jumps'
Which makes more sense
It definitely is lightspeed-
The warping does remind me of when ships in Star-Trek are traveling
Oooh you're just in time for the daily Rockwell × Nerva fanfic sharing
"OwO" says Rockwell, as he touches Nerva's hand.
They call lightspeed travel in star wars jumps too don't they-
Im more of a Rockwell x Gabriel man myself since they're written like an angsty teenagers wattpad story
Ooh Rockwell × Nerva × Gabriel LOVE TRIANGLE??

Who play in it?
Nerva leans close to Rockwell. Rockwell thinks he's giving him a kiss, but before he knew it, Nerva says.
"You can save 50% more on car insurance with Geico"
He was then ripped limb from limb by a rabbid seagull
Honestly, I've been thinking of making a Rockwell x Nerva shitpost fanfic
And DM'ing it to Jat and Jesse
Could you live with yourself if you did
Oh? Does Rockwell and Nerva keep you up at night?
Yes 👀
"burns eyes with bleach" enough Ark chat for tonight
'Flobs' is the sound Rockwell makes to Nerva.

And you
Watch it end up on the community crunch 💀
HAHAHA!
That means they love it.
I mean I rickrolled Dollie once
Holy shit, send screenshots!
kill me please
That was like a year ago 💀
Find it!
In the sarcoid cathedral of the antigod, we endured his seismic wrath.
Thunderous peals of his fury buffeted us.
Who were we to defy his cosmic malignity?
He promised we would submit one way or another, as something crawled up my back and attached itself to my head.
I felt my will to resist being drained away, and fell to my knees as the entirety of our environment roared in triumph.
It assured me I would go now to dig up more of the prima materia that belonged to him.
Or I'll inject you with flaming hot cheetos!
Tell me that isn't pure teen angst

Sealed away forever
Saber tlc leaked from Ark 2?
I'm going to get back to my Unreal-5 stuff, but after that I might make a ARK fanfic
I can't wait to fight Rockwell again in Ark 2
You want to fight ashes? Get a vase and collect it as a limited edition Pokemon
Um actually it's an Ark fanfic
ARK*
No
You're in the title
[laugh track]
FED: URE?
URE: What?
FED: Where's the Genesis-Ship destination?
[laugh track]
URE: The Ship goes right there. See, I drew it with a magic marker.
[laugh track]
FED: You were supposed to store the coordinates in the simulation.
URE: Dude, I'm gonna!
FED: Oh really?
URE: Yes!
FED: So go get the launch terminal from Arat Prime!
URE: Okay, I will! tcch
[bumps into airlock]
[laugh track]
[rattles the airlock, turns around, paws the airlock]
URE: ...I see the problem.
FED: Oh, do ya?!
[laugh track]
Stroke
wha?
Humanism and Transhumanism are real things so I've found out
We already knew
Humanists weren't just humans, they believed that humanity was on top
Reverse for le Transhumanists
Yeah apparently me learning that helped a bunch of other people here learn that or something
I'll have to add that to the funky lore recap supercut
Me when I get to write about ARK lore again
I wanna taste one of Rockwell's tentacles
Yeah, aren't the URE basically just militarized hippies?
YES
"leaves"
Pretty much
Terran Federation is also like any other generic military force in the world.
Cause 'money'
AND I have a funky theory about them and the HomoDeus
Helena says that HomoDeus made the System
But Uma and the Transhumans were making the System at the end of Santiago's 2.0's story
My funky theory is haha gods are real and that's where element came from
The HomoDeus are also extremely hush hush according to Nida kekeke
Okay, so in my lore-rewrite of ARK's story. It isn't out of place to have the URE as humans that want to advance humanity by becoming one with the universe, even if it means letting go of their ethics?
Therefore
The Transhumans started to ascend into HomoDeus around the point of San2iago's death
As they didn't exist in his time
I don't think thats a rewrite i think thats just what happened
Uma never brought it up, as she didn't have to
Really now?
Yeah that's literally what happened
Become a human supercomputer at the expense of your emotion, so it seems
And then the next step, HomoDeus, also expended your entire physical forme
AND I KNOW it's the Transhumans who became HomoDeus, and I can prove it with one sliver of information
Yeah, cause fuck ethics, am I right?
Not like it keeps us in check with death and destruction. Nah, fuck it.
Ethics are for poopy heads
Okay, so what's up with the Federation?
They just like money?
You guys remember how Helena had far above average brain activity, as stated by Santiago on Ext?
Gen-2 Santiago doesn't know shit
Yep
So do the Transhumans. That's their entire point of being.
That literally seals the coffin.
So was she a transhuman beforehand?
Nonono
So whats your point? Helena isn't real?
Neddy the noodle is a transhuman
Hmm...
Maybe she has a special mutation within her genes that the URE later used after they dug her up?
Though Helena's cognitive function is obviously beneath the Transhumans, it was high enough to allow her to Ascend
Does that make sense?
So she just has big-brain.
Is Noodle his last name or how does that work
YES! That's exactly it.
Damn, imagine having such a powerful brain.
But still being a fucking idiot
Yeah....I was too
Guys please I'm trying to discuss NeddytheNoodle lore
Tis the joke
She's a idiot in-game.
Yeah but she's as bearable as KH3 Sora in the TAS trailers
If you've ever played KH3
Okay, so Helena was quite literally built different due to a genetic mutation that made her factually smarter then most humans?
Well not necessarily a mutation
Some people are just born with higher cognitive ability
Wouldn't that be a slight mutation with the neurons?
Let me look
Cause mutations are what're needed to evolve
Sí, it's a mutation
Okay, I was in fact using that correctly.
I find this link to be absolutely incredible
I'm gonna try to write a Short for Neddy to put it in
Cause then that brain mutation can be passed down with her kids, and possibly make our species naturally smarter.
Where the fuck is my brain mutation huh
Mood.
We got the shit end of the stick
Nearly a 4.0 yet I understand nothing
I got a body-weight mutation
Me when I have near perfect grades but don't understand what I'm doing in the slightest

Give me your knowledge
I must obtain this
Okay, hear me out.
Not lore related, but it'd be cool to see mutations expanded in ARK-2 and actually have a physical change on creatures. Then they're truly evolving and adapting.
I also have that
Okay, I unironically had this like two years ago.
I graduated from school, and I had to do one last big test with Algebra.
Thing is, to this day I have no fucking idea how Algebra works. But I somehow got like a 96% on my score.
"If you're serious, you can accomplish anything through diligent application of science. –Byakuya Ishigami"
I am not serious in the slightest I dunno I just like Dr. Stone
Dr. Stone is cool
I need no effort option
That sounds boring as all balls
Be ridiculously nice to your teacher and they'll take pity upon you
TRUE

I did they still failed me
My ass turning in an assignment 3 weeks late and getting full credit because my teachers like me
Arson

Off to- get this- take a shower. I'm the only ARK player on record to bathe.

Not lore related, but I hope we get recruitable NPC's in ARK-2.
Sons of the Forest has shown me that smart NPC's can work in a online game
Showering in your own sweat while breeding only to reset your save data doesn't count
And now I want a clan of Aratai's
We all know we gona end up wiping out the aratai on there own planet
Human go brrrr
Yeah, but if we're to recruit them. Then we can at least have some straggles surviving with the none-ass humans
@bold dove interrogation or assimilation, which should we use on the aratai
Assimilation.
At least with assimilating, they can be used as slaves.
See?
HLN-A agrees
Slavery is fine, as long it isn't humans
We do it all the time with animals
Do slave from Rockwell is ok then
Since he's no longer human, ethically, metaphorically, and biologically, then yeah it's safe. 👍
I wouldn't consider like someone who walks into Chernobyl and walks out with a few extra limbs unhuman
They're just a freak of nature
Like you would still consider the teenage mutant ninja turtles turtles right?
No
They are called "epigenetically modified reptilian adolescents with Japanese stealth training"
No
They're physically turtles, but biologically no longer turtles.
You are, by definition, no longer human if you don't have human DNA or genes.
If element rewrote all of that with Rockwell, he's no longer human.
But what defines human
Human biology.
We're not getting into bullshit metaphorical shit.
A Aratai isn't human cause it resembles a human, hints why it's called human'oid'
They might have similar personalities and interests, which is nice. But they're not human, they're Aratai's
Just like how we're not Aratai's, we're human.
Cause we have human biology and DNA.
We're in the hominid family, and evolved from the great-apes.
Humanity isn't some philosophical shit people make it out to be. What those people mostly think of is 'sapient's'
But if you remove someone's free will and consciousness, they're still biologically human.
@gusty turret Sent you Human biology.
So no.
Rockwell isn't human.
Just like what it means to be a cow is to have the biology of a cow.
We humans are hella smart, but that doesn't instantly make us entitled to to separate ourselves from what humanity is other then a species.
It isn't a mindset, a mentality, or a moral thing. It's all biology.
I met a person who told me that dolphins should be considered human because they were smart.
ain't no way
Tell me their names and I will come to their house and backhand them
Lol
That is the value of a good definition lol. Without it people think dolphins and chimpanzees are human
Like maybe they are smart, and maybe they can communicate or have rational thought, but that isn't human
I'm not sure about you Raq. But it always makes me question people when they say shit like "But what defines human"
Like 'BRUH!' genetics and DNA does, our biology is what makes us human. Not some goddamn metaphorical mindset 'we' humans made up.
I guess it's kind of due to the lack of a word that describes intelligence other than human lol
I will gladly accept a dolphin as another sapient being on our planet that I can have a cup of tea with.
But I will never call them 'human' cause that'd be factually incorrect.
It's been too long with the European idea that humans are the peak of evolution, that the idea of a smart intelligent creature is human somehow makes sense to people
Sentients and sapient's exist.
Goddamn it, this is why we need to rewrite our school system.
Plot twist: the dolphins then show up at you house
If they want cookies, I'll give them some.
Other than the fact that it is a century outdated?
Other then that, yeah.
To teach that there isn't anything that makes a human metaphorically. The word you're looking for is 'sapient' not 'human'
If dolphins could talk to us and were as intelligent as us, they still wouldn't be human. They would be intelligent. Being human does not mean we have a monopoly on intelligence lol
Exactly!
Being human is a biological trait.
Metaphor is always the worst way to define things
Could be. Generally sapient is used to relate to humans lol
If a dolphin suddenly woke up in a human body with all human traits, then they'd arguably be human.
But I don't see that being possible, even if dolphins start to live among humans
Nah.
Making out everything as food is a great metaphor.
Metaphor is only good to explain definitions and ideas. But metaphors always break
Explaining math with peppers is pretty poggers.
True
Cause metaphors aren't suppose to be taken literal, no?
That's what a metaphor is.
Until you try to explain calculus using peppers. There comes a point that you have to go beyond metaphor in order to understand things. It really is kind of sad how many people can't reach that level
Metaphor gets the starting idea, but has no precision and disregards real context
TL:DR, Rockwell isn't fucking human metaphorically, literally, biologically, and objectively. He's a weird calamari mutant that's in his own class of animal.
Tbh, school can't teach intelligence. That has to happen at home
That's what he considers himself too
Fuck it, let only smart people have biological children.
Right!
He literally even states he's no longer human, he's more
Lol, good luck with that
Yeah, he doesn't consider himself human, because he is at least smart enough to know that he isnt
Damn, Rockwell is in fact smarter then most average Americans. 💀
And that fucker is from the 18th century.
Noticing differences isn't racist. Being judgemental or arrogant because of superficial differences is what racism is
I know, I was joking
Rockwell is objectively more capable of a living-organism then humans are. Since he has space-magic running through his veins, and can turn metal into flesh.
I mean, most people today can't even understand 18th century science or philosophy. Like yeah, it was hundreds of years ago, but some of those guys were incredibly smart. Could easily give Einstein a run for his money
Van Gogh is a chad. (not a scientist, but fucking love his art/story)
I mean, when Newton tried to explain the universe he invented the mathematics to do so, when Einstein tried to, he had to borrow the math from someone else
I know he is an artist but other than that I know nothing about the guy lol. I am not into art really
Neither am I.
I just love him cause he's one of the first artists to truly put their emotions into paintings, and the man had a fucked up life.
Rockwell was literally the most respected individual on the island
He successfully manipulated tribes to get his own way on multiple occasions
People say there is emotion in art, and that's what makes it good. I argue that there isn't emotion in art lol, it's just colors on a paper
If art was about emotion, then it wouldn't sell for so much money
The emotion isn't the painting itself, but of the 'why' the individual made it in the first place.
That isn't the artist fault (most of the time)
Van Gogh died with the expectations that his art was worthless and he was a piece of shit human being that deserved to go.
Used to be that when you asked people "what are people going to do when ai takes all the jobs" they would say do art. Until now they figured out that ai can also do art, and soon it'll probably be better than the majority of artists
Issue is, AI takes references from existing art. So if there's no new human-made art, then what AI-art can make is finite.
I mean, not to discredit his work or anything, but most art is worthless so he wasn't wrong 😂😂
You Raqkaaq, have fucking hit a nerve.
That is like saying that chat gpt references existing sentances. Like yes. But what makes an ai an ai is it's ability to extrapolate from past work and make something new
Lol, I do that to people.
Yep, and it's best to stop talking at that point
Well, a lot of it is probably due to me not understanding other people lol. Like I have a different view of what is important than most people, and art just doesn't fit into that
That unironically sounds like Autism.
I mean, maybe
Or it's just a different perspective
I am not culturally the same as the majority of the human population
And I have the same issue.
I don't understand some shit others do.
But I at least fucking 'TRY' to learn why they like/enjoy it, and not proceed to shit on it just cause 'I' don't understand it. 💀
I mean, I am not trying to do that lol
I just don't think that effort alone makes a thing valuable
.
Value isn't just money
There's also the emotional value of something.
Or the history value, or the cultural value.
