The loot quality doesn't really impact much of the contents of the drop if I understand it correctly, it just modifies the values. Makes things way more expensive

Right, Fresh. It might have a mutation on either side (up to 20 mutations). What you want is another male w/the new mutation, because when it breeds to your female the mutation will 'move over' to the male side

Look up Tiia on youtube - she does a better job than anyone, I think, explaining breeding and mutations. I literally killed my breeding lines and started over after watching all of her vids and have done more in less time than I thought possible.

You don't have to build around other peoples stuff and you can tune the difficulty. Official server difficulty can be really deathy for a new player. That + always running into other peoples bases and walls can make the early game really frustrating

If it is for pve I would recommend playing at the default sp difficulty with max level 30 dinos just to get the feel of the game, beat a few bosses and feel good about yourself before turning up the notch to official difficulty. Alternitively if you have experience playing fps games and just need the ark know how, watching youtubers is usually enough to get started. Syntacs ultimate ark is a good spot to start

They have a totem in the mod that's supposed to cap creature spawns in a radius but I don't know how well it works

Ragnarok is technically an unfinished map. It works for the most part under most conditions, but it's possible it may not take a direct connection between you two for whatever reason. I had a similar issue two years ago, it was only resolved by getting a private server and connecting through that.

My advice would be to try another map and see if it has an issue. It could be Rag-specific.

Just looking for some rule of thumb to use in my head, for when I look at, say, a Rex with 33 melee points, to roughly estimate what that number could change to after I tame it under ideal conditions.

These match the same amount of imprints required on official, so with these settings you can get 100% imprint. I also suggest adding BabyImprintAmountMultiplier=2.0 to Game.ini so you don't have to perfectly time the imprints

As far as official breeding rates go, has there ever been any adjustments to the base 1x rate? (I know taming, gathering and xp were doubled permanently years back, but can't remember it being done for breeding things.)

Google search doesn't come up with anything, so I don't know where this person got their experience of it changing from...
