It can matter a lot depending on what mods you use. But also some mods cause this when they don't have a game mode assigned and are loaded first

It depends. Mods that only add, not replace or modify existing game stuff, generally don't matter. Mods that use buffs to edit dinos are also perfectly stackable. Overhauls need to be loaded first. With mods that remap, it mattes in the case of conflicts (if 2 mods remap one dino, mod that's loaded first gets its dino to spawn). Unless there's config to prevent the remapping (for example, kraken's better dinos)

Mostly stackable, KBD load order doesn't mattere here since nothing else remaps dinos. Though I'd use Shiny! Dinos instead of Rare Sightings. RS is.. problematic

Having better gear and some stronger tames helps a lot. I cant speak for PvP but in PVE it can sometime become trivial with stronger gear and tames.

Just don't do Mobile. It sucks. There's no bosses and alot of TLC changes are removed. Ark mobile hard difficulty allows dinos up to lv300 to spawn in the wild

question about Legacy servers. Been playing on a Legacy Island server for over a year now and now its gone. Will Legacy servers get delete without warning and how would i know? Fyi, dimos attack players instead of mounts so if you have someone try to raid you with a tanky dino the player will be killed quickly and the dino will be much easier to kill

Also the top right island on your map sometimes spawns rexes. Mainly carnos, sabertooths, argens, scorpions, and raptors. If you have a decent argen or other flyer can go fly there and see if one spawned

Depends on what you mean by lost

If its not uploaded to your ark data, and you're not able to select it when loading into a server, You would need to contact support and tell them how the character became "Lost" and they can help you get it back

If you just dont know what server its on, you can try looking at battlemetrics and look up your player ID and see which servers you've been on

Smokes, your best bet is to look on battlemetrics, get your player ID by looking at a server you've played on before, and then look at the list of servers you've been on, 1st one will be the one your character is on

Just a follow-up to say that I did try again, and now have a 356 (from 250 w/ 89% efficiency from 1.0x to 1.2x fish) female and a lowish level male, after more trial and error.
Ultimately what I ended up doing was a little overengineered, but really helped I think. 4 2x2x2 glass boxes with ramps on all sides of each, surrounded by a 4-high compound wall, with turrets to take care of dinos falling into the compound. For fish, I did it all out of the area in safer spots, and used cryo to keep them fresh.
No issues with the kiting/taming whatsoever, now that I didn't have to leave render. Only flaw in the system is my fishing skills; now that I'm a better fisher, if I do this again I'll prioritize for bigger fish for sure.

Thanks for encouraging me, it helped. I was super frustrated and discouraged, and somehow managed to channel that into determination. :)

Also, I considered nooblets' hatchframe bottom idea, but decided it was mostly unnecessary, as I've found that some part of them almost always clips through the walls just fine.

Oh, and no, they weren't teleporting out of the boxes when they were escaping on me before. What I believe was actually happening was that during the day, their AI changes subtly, and they make little movements as they try to roam, as they are supposed to do during the day. Those movements allowed them to simply walk out of the box while out of render. (They don't make those movements at night, though.)

I'm new to ark and tried to build a farm with stone pipes. I tried building them underground because they dont look nice just floating around. At a certain point (after I've already placed well over 10 pipes) I got a message informing me that I couldn't place the pipe there because there was something in the way. Is it possible to do that underground or will the water not flow?

Yeah. There’s horizontal, vertical, and flexible.

Flexible are what you want to use the most of. They can go in any direction and you can adjust the length. Make a bunch and play with them to get the feel for it.

Hey i need some iron so i watched a video about spots to find it i got a raft a trike and a parasaur should i try to go to herbivore island with the raft or go to a montain that's around the river between southern islets and footpaw (srry if names are wrong i just googled it) i heard there was raptors which is not a problem but also alpha ones and there is a very big forest that im scared to get lost in.

There’s a mountain on the NE corner of the map, If you have a raft it’s easy to get to. Has tons of metal from base to summit. However it’s packed full of argies, hyenas, sabertooths, raptors, Allos, rexes, and the occasional giga. Herbivore island doesn’t have anything dangerous but also has far less metal nodes.

They don’t have saddles. That’s why you can ride them. The gryphons can be found on Crystal Isles, the wyverns can be found on Rag, SE, and Lost Island. For wyverns you’ll have to sneak into their nests and steal an egg.

I think it's true that mose unofficial servers are like that, and some are truly ridiculous with the rates. There are a few exceptions, every now and then. Just takes longer and a lot of work to find them. And those servers struggle a bit, as most players jumping on Unofficial unfortunately seem to prefer higher rates.

Decided to set up my home base in The Hidden Lake on the Island. Question about structure building. Is it remotely viable to start off in wood and then demolish everything to rebuild in a different material?

Yes. I always start with wood. A lot of it depends on your settings though. If your experience multipliers are so high that before you finish a wood base you’re ready to build stone and metal it may be best to wait. Also if you’re playing PvP anything before stone is pretty much worthless.

I am having issues staying connected when the server saves while I am in the Star Dolphin mission (official) Has anyone figured out a way to make the client more patient or not overflow the network buffer that causes these disconnects?

Other missions let me just stand still which usually stops the disconnect, but this one doesn't

I think the issue is that the client is waiting on responses to all the inputs it's sending and eventually it decides the server is down because of the 20+ second server delay caused by the world save routine not having a way to tell the client to wait or pause.

Star dolphin is bugged can’t do any damage to Rockwell at the end. Been trying for days.

I also notice this if I do too much during a server save, no matter what server I'm on

I'm doing damage using charged shots and grenades

Regular shots occasionally find his hit box, but charged shots home in on it and grenades have a nice amount of splash radius to hit them

Basically, all I need to do is get past this disconnect to win

I know in team last night we were hardly damaging him, and managed to get through the server save at least once, but couldn't hit him enough to get through the second server save.

Yeah I can get through the server saves if you pay attention to the upload timer you can prepare for it

But still that lag can kill you

I've always thought that maybe a good solution to this would be to put in a client notification to 'pause' it's activity and have it wait at least a minute before it decides to disconnect itself. You know, a 'Saving, please wait' message. (With no inputs being sent during this time, just a 5s ping or something)

Or put the client disconnect into the player's hands. 'Server appears to be stalled, disconnect or keep waiting?'

I've been using a kitchen timer to synch up with the saves, but I can't beat it in 14 minutes

I’ve been doing it solo. I watch my timer by holding select (I’m on Xbox) I generally start the mission with about 5 minutes to the next save so I’m at least protecting the whale when the save happens

I don't know why these missions are tied to server saving anyway. Aren't they instanced and only need their results returned when you rejoin the rest of the world?

My friend got the game on xbox game pass on pc so i downloaded it on there and its impossible to play together it just says join failed every single time i cant play with them at all
