i'm sure it's been stated many times prior, but ASE didn't need an internet connection to know who was playing. steam knows your account, it's easily obtained using their API... they use epic to authorize all their Paid DLC stuff... not simply to act as a login service for the servers.

ASE needs an internet connection to know who is playing. it just uses steam account IDs to do that. that is not possible in ASA because it is crossplatform, it needs a unified, unique ID for each player regardless of platform

it is significantly smaller and packaged differently., looking at the manifest for the game, the biggest files are 1-2GB archives, so it is going to be less compressed in exchange for faster patches and likely faster access on hard drives, since it is a last gen console game

iirc lost island is like 120GB unpacked with the hard drive SFC archives

In order for Ark to be online, they have to know. Ark shut the WHOLE system down in order to protect the players.

Huh I think I figred the Single PLayer spawn issue out just now. Hmmm under Game Rules in stettings, Creature. The Max Count has a bar adjustment you can make, but it kinda lies. In the box you can type whatever number you want. So I did 2 and yeah the spawns seem to be much better.

Sorry to tell you that Single Player spawns are always stupid and always have been. Turn spawn rates up to maximum. Use a mod, if you can, that edits levels so that higher ones spawn in more often. And still, even with all that - spawn rates will still be stupid, just a little less stupid than of you don't do those things

Again, resources in Single Player - stupid. A lot of time when you harvest them, they don't come back, ever. Turn the respawn rate all the way up to maximum - like, they pop back as soon as you harvest, basically. And then, after you harvest, stay in the area until you see the nodes come back. This has been a problem for YEEEEAAAARS.

I saw a pretty nice explanation of why the spawns work that way in Single Player, I think it was on Reddit - basically it's because Single Player doesn't continue runninng when you're offline like servers do, so respawns take a lot longer - although things like spoil times and such still run down - I don't know why they can't handle the respawn timers like they do the spoil timers though. I have a friend who is a gaming dev, I'll ask him sometime. (He doesn't work on Ark, lol).

Survival Evolved used a Hibernation function for single player to keep your PC from being overloaded. Basically things only moved and such within a certain radius of the Player. You can actually turn this off in Launch setting arguments on steam with -disablehibernation

was searching to see if anyone else had this issue here: Ark mods literally wont work on ps5 if you don’t have a lot of storage, even if you’ve never used mods before. For solwyn you need vulpite, which you get by finding a wild solwyn while you have a veilwyn as companion. Approach solwyn and itll specify some whistle to use with your companion (pet, etc). Do it until it completes the mini game and gives vulpite to you.

Higher level solwyn gives higher quality vulpite (ascendant from your games max levels).

For malwyn, you need to use the bloodforge, i dont remember what exactly you do in it, might wanna check a youtube video like Raasclark.

But in both cases, your veilwyn must reach 100% adventure (in buffs) to evolve in either direction. Do so by fighting stuff while its your companion.

Neophytes, and the revenant creatures can give good adventure xp for your veilwyns.

probably, but it doesnt matter. Only horizontal distance matters, if you're within 100 meters horizontal it will pop up no matter how high you are above it. Same with treasure chests

Yeah that would be great if I was within the 100m and not stuck at being 350m even when I’m right on top of it and there’s no way to get to it.

So it does matter. It’s a Lost Colony Dino specific to the Lost Colony DLC, It should work on the map it’s provided for and maps shouldn’t be in unreachable positions especially when it’s a dino blocked behind a paywall.

Also it’s within 100m spherically.

well it's not thrall related, i tested and stood around/moved around the base and didn't interact with anything, but still crashed, i logged into a new server i'd never been on and i didn't have any problems, so i restarted, server updated, i still crashed after that update.. BUT i relogged on again, and i ran away from my base, waited a bit then went back to it, it seems to be okay? fingers crossed i've been on about 15-20 minutes now
