something like this is happening for my partner too, i run my server on asa dedicated manager, somehow our server crashed and while the server was booting up still in a ticking loop she tried to connect, after the server is booted, she is unable to connect back again, everytime she logs in now the character is naked and she cant do anything, gets kicked out after awhile. however i do see the charcter stand up and goes back to sleep lol

GPU crashed. It only showed that error before I had to restart Discord to get it responsive. It's not wonder though, the ram was 99% because Ark was eating 18GB and I gues.. wanted more.

All monitors went black. Some software refreshed.

that is a hardware failure, not the game. even if it uses all of both and cant swap, it will just crash the program itself

18GB should be fine on that amount, too, and there is no way the game is using 24GB VRAM

it would need thorough testing, but either there is data corruption causing invalid, massive allocations, or just hardware failure. ASA should never really use more than about 10GB VRAM unless you are raising the pool size greatly, and then it will still only use RAM as swap

ASA tends to put a lot more strain on VRAM hardware (not capacity alone) than most games. i have seen a lot of people get hardware crashes in it that no other game causes, but then show up in VRAM stress loads

regardless, software does not magically crash when running out of VRAM, it just slows down horribly. you have effectively infinite "VRAM" via swap, and your system RAM will also swap via pagefile

18GB is normal usage for ASA and nowhere near overflowing 32GB. nothing is wrong. well, aside from your GPU being misconfigured/broken, which you will eventually have to accept

now, if you did something awful like turn off your pagefile, then you will have all sorts of stability issues. dont do that.

swap thrashing will break stuff, yes.. that is massive memory bloat you should investigate, absolutely no excuse for background processes to take that much active memory

if you do run that much bloatware, then sure, you need 64GB 🤔

Everything eats a little bit and it adds up, Discord 500MB, Thunderbird like 200MB, Steam 200MB, NVidia 200 more. There's nothing that stands out. Chrome eats the most and but I do need it.

everyone has most of that and does not have usage that high. almost all of that should be shunted into pagefile by windows past 50% physical use, active background use should only be 2-3GB unless you are running a lot of extra stuff

good odds it is a driver leak or some other shitty ring0 software, or spam of small services. worth looking deeper. if you are using task manager, it shows you made-up nonsense and only surface level stuff. you need rammap from msdn, or similar

Pure Windows 4GB, started up Discord 5GB, started up Thunderbird 5.2GB + Chrome 8.3GB, all of that will grow on its own to ~12GB. Mostly Chrome probably. I'm keeping my pc clean at the same time I'm using it, it's not a decoration. My point stands though, Island used to eat 6-8GB, 1 month ago it was 12-14GB.. now 18GB. My Chrome tends to eat a bunch so I follow all the readings and I swear Island used to be 6-8GB. I talked with other people and they've also seen RAM consumption increasing. I'm not comparing ASE and ASA, ASE was much lower but Island in ASE was the most optimized and used like 2-4(?)GB when Gen2 was causing me issues with it's hunger of 12-16GB.

When making the truck if you drive it outside and exit it, than go out of render range and back it is dissapeared. It seems to me like its the stupid antimesh system at work, because the wheels go through the ground if you exit the truck. This is just a theory. The antimesh system is good for pvp, but should not have been in pve (this is a personal opinion).

You can host non dedicated which is basically inviting your friend to your single player without needing to rent but you are tethered to the host and its a fairly short leash. If you want the free rein experience without the randoms then hosting an unofficial server is your only option, you can password lock it to keep other people out.

The tether is really the only downside in my experience and it will lag very hard for the invited whenever the host enters an area like a cave as they are forced to enter that area alongside the host. If they get to far they'll be teleported back to the host. Mods work fine though

So after 11 hours since last announcement
PC player here, still cannot log-in to any exctintion servers

The game still remains black & flickering after either watching or skipping the cutscene. Anyone else has things I can try?

tried re-install game
tried several driver settings (Game Ready Drivers, Studio drivers etc.)

@Jason Luv - regardless of which you use, you'll still need to manually setup Port Forwarding on your Router. You'll need a UDP Port for the game and an RCON UDP/TCP Port for sending messages (i.e. start the server, stop, etc.) to the server

The steampunk lights? No, there's no paint on them that would theoretically block the light they give off. It's the oval shaped steam punk lights. They give off zero light now. The version / swatch that sits on the walls and the one that stands on the floor give off light, but not the oval shape. Hoping there's a cieling light fixture in the Wasteland Lights.

I'm looking for the command to spawn the new Wasteland Light Fixtures since some of the Steampunk Fixtures don't give off light anymore after the Extinction release and the new Wasteland Fixtures do not show up under crafting. Yeah, do the "DestroyWIldDinos" console command. It wipes out all animals on the map and forces the game to spawn new ones, resetting the fauna / animal spawns. I have to do it every now and then in single player when the map's looking sparse.

Hello, I’m very new to ark. I occasionally played ase a few years ago, but now I’m 90+ hours deep into asa after 2 weeks. I haven’t messed around with mods at all but is there a specific place you get them from? Mostly looking for mods that just do some tlc work for the Dino’s already on the island, but also open to other stuff as well 🙂

I recently found a new rex with much better stats, (stats that are the same as my current mutated dinos with 18 mutations lol), how do I go about introducing the mutations onto the new rex? Ive tried breeding her with a mutated male but It doesnt seem to work
