I just read a steam thread where someone mentioned it's trying to spool download data to that drive, which it is currently trying to do to mine. not sure what causes that but if you guys also have that issue it's a clear indication of a bug in need of resolving. About to runn through multiple courses of download cache clears to see if i can force it to behave LOL

dlss is an rtx setting and it uses upscaling/downscaling to either prioritize performance or quality, if you have it installed you can't change your res manually

i haven't done a verification yet, i've just cleared my download cache for the first time. one thing i noticed is that an unrelated HDD was at 100% active while it was working on it and like 33% on my SSD, so for whatever reason it's using the wrong drive to do the work. next time you get stuck check your task manager and see if it does the same thing. the only thing that works that i know of is completely reinstalling the game

It is not a joke. There is a difference between downloading and patching.
Downloading new content (there's about ~400MB of download, which is pretty small) whilst patching is re-arranging the files, which is... the entire game. Why is the entire game being re-arranged? 0 clue. 🤷‍♂️

@minor python What blackwolf said was true, it's a visual bug on steam. people with better CPU's resolve it faster than others but it's basically a hidden verification stage. i can see the actual percentage now that i managed to start it verifying before it got stuck again. just a matter of waiting a while :/ also if you have 100+gb free on both the harddrives it trying to work with it helps go by faster. and yes both harddrives because for whatever reason steam uses 100% of a different hard drive to run a verification on installed files

It'll get better. This is leagues ahead of how the original game launched. There's so many great quality of life improvements, like, not taking 20 minutes to get onto a server. Servers don't hitch for days whenever they autosave. This is gonna be incredible when they finish ironing out the issues.

So, to clarify... when you die while online, the death mark appears on the map. It's still incredibly hard to find the actual backpack when it blends into the landscape, but you at least have a general indicator. However, if the game crashes while you are on a flier, it force-dismounts you and you fall to your death. If you die while offline, the game does not put a death marker on the map.

Yeah, it's frustrating. Especially since when you fall out of the sky it has a tendency to put your death cache under the terrain. So I've spent a lot of time as admin clipping through the terrain trying to get people's stuff back tonight (because I've always had a policy as admin of "if you lost it due to the game crashing on you, I will try to get it back for you").

If it at least had the green beacon, they could say "it's probably under the geometry here." instead of me spending 28 minutes looking and then giving up because the death cache has probably expired

(Honestly, I find it faintly baffling that the death beacons were removed while the game is still relatively unstable.)

My issue is that when I try to join an official server it gives me the message "Joining ......." and its getting stuck at this part... The game itself is still running, like the animated background is still running, but the next issue is that when I hover with my mouse on different server (while trying to join a server) nothing is happening... Nor can I click on something... The only thing I can do is pressing ESC... I can change the settings but I'm still stuck in that sequence... Also there is no failure message coming it stays for ever in that sequence and the game is still running smoothly while trying to join a server... So to "fix" that I have to restart the game all the time... I can't join ANY official servers... Meanwhile if I try to join unofficial servers it takes me 3sec to load in...

Another issue (I don't know if this is connected with my joining offi server issue?) is that I can't open the console like usually back then in ark1.0... Yes I have activated console in advanced settings and binded it, also tried to use other binds but I can't open the console as usually... So I have to press ESC (in single player) and click on "CONSOLE" on the bottom left...

What I've already tried:

• reinstalling battle eye multiple times
• verified the files twice
• reinstalled the game + deleted the folders of ASA and battle eye

Anyone experienced something like that or got a solution for this?

yes, the performance improved, but its mainly due to what they set to which setting with adjusting the default "low" "medium" "high" etc. there are some console commands that really help with performance (volumetric clouds for one)

the game client is definitely not completely stable yet, and i imagine that is due to the variety of system configurations they hadn't tested for, its been getting cleaned up bit by bit, i suspect they will have to continue to have a massive flurry of patches and updates for a couple weeks to come still

That was a joke. You need to knock it out use a rifle with tranq but you need to trap it because it can easily destroy you and it looses when you stop shooting at it with tranq really fast the progress on knocking it out

I'm technically running just below the minimum requirements so that's why I'm getting the crash. If you've got anything that doesn't match requirements, that's probably why. Again, the crash should only happen once and it's just a matter of opening the game again so I wouldn't worry too much about it, at least not until they fix it

Besides that I don’t know how to help. I’m almost certain it’s a memory leak issue that is amplified by using DLSS and especially Frame Gen. I never crash anymore after turning off Frame Generation, but I have a 4080 so others might need to turn a lot more settings to the lowest settings while also keeping DLSS and Frame Gen off.

For me currently the only certainty that leads to crashes within literally 1-5 minutes of enabling it is turning frame generation on. The error code seems to be in relation to memory leakage and it varies depending on the graphics card. I heard those with a 3060ti get the same exact error code just by turning on DLSS so I’m assuming the DLSS RTX implementation is amplifying some memory leakage whether it be the DLSS implementation itself or an amplification of memory leakage elsewhere in code or whatever
