keep all mutations on one side (usually male) if you always have an unmutated dino (under 20) it will always have the chance to mutate

It completely depends on the raptors stat points. If the level 13 has any stats that are higher than the level 50s (very unlikely) then the baby could be higher level. But also it could be lower than 50 if it gets more of the low stats

craptors are good for a first tame but other then that 🤷 it quickly lags behind. some maps its even entirely pointless to tame.
some would say overrated but that'd imply people think its better then it is

But honestly the best thing about raptors is their pack bonus and thats only really useful if you’re playing with a few people

Id say Iguanodon is probably a better starter mount

How do you make a start into the ocean? Hundreds of jellyfish and about 50 alpha megalodons maybe more are around the island map making it impossible to do anything 😦 I was able to tame a 110ish megalodon in a blocked off area that it was trapped in like a lagoon area but it is too weak to fight the alphas and the jellyfish knock me off the megalodon. My Megalodon is too weak to clear out the stingrays near a basilo if I could even get out from shore to find one. I tried finding a Baryonyx to get started in ocean with instead maybe but the highest level i've seen in days of searching is level 40

I cannot host a dedicated server. It will not show up at all, even under LAN tab, within ark. It just says "Invalid APPID" when I check on it under Steam->Servers and it says Latency: Failed. I tried reinstalling and I have the same issue.

Snow owls are easier to catch initially. They need to be diving to outpace the wyverns. Maewing will put a large amount of distance between you and the wyverns almost as soon as it’s airborne. Like I said, both are very good choices for stealing eggs. Use whichever you prefer.

They basilo is basically easy mode underwater. Jellyfish won't dismount you and won't hurt the basilo at all, eels can't stun the basilo, squids can't grab the basilo and basilo's are quite strong and tanky

Yes, the tiny whale. They spawn near the surface of the water and usually have a group of dolphins and manta's following it. Once you feed or attack the basilo the manta's will attack you and they hurt a lot. Go to the ocean biome on genesis and find yourself one of these and your underwater life will be a breeze

Passive tame by the way. Use some mutton or prime meat to tame it. Manta's can be difficult to deal with but once you get rid of them it's quite easy to tame

Downloaded my Argy to rag, started to fly to scope out a nice location for a base, then the game suddenly crashed.

I booted up and was at the point right before I downloaded the Argy, but he's missing, hes not in the creature downloads like he should be. I went into creative (I'm on sp) and flew to where I last saw him, nothing. His download is documented in the tribe logs but he's nowhere to be found.

I would just spawn a new argy since i lost it to an unfair crash but this one has a lot of sentimental value and I'd really like to get him back if at all possible. I'm on Xbox so unfortunately I can't even roll back saves. Can anyone help?

Theres a command to teleport to dinos but its a real pain in the ass ngl. most likely hes either floating where you crashed, or went to land somewhere in the general vicinity

Do boss fights. Tame stuff. Kill big dinos, go alpha hunting. Search for explorer notes (or just look up their locations on Google if you don't actually wanna search in game).

Good high stat dinos, depends on the level of the alpha but a decent pack of raptors should easily take on an alpha carno or raptor. Not sure about alpha rexes, though, I try to kill those with a good melee argy or another Rex with good stats

Personally when I'm unsure I go for alpha raptors, a good pack of raptors or a few nice carnos will make quick work of them. they spawn fairly commonly in the southeast zones around the rivers and beaches, and as long as you're equipped well they're not hard to take out at all. Just go in prepared and use dinos you're not attached to lol. I like to grab an explorer note beforehand if I can as it boosts the exp yield even more.

On the private server I am hosting, the dinosaur turning is super wonkey. They are like glitch turning (skipping a bunch of frames) and it looks really weird. Any advice on how to fix this?

I have a ryzen 7800x. Can I just not run the server on the same pc i play on?

I am also using a decent amount of mods, but its just weird that there is no latency anywhere else. Dinosaurs run forward normally, but they like skip frames when turning. Super weird

yeah same machine. connecting to the local ip. in the menu it says its 11 ping but your right it does look weird

ill try connecting using the external ip and see if that makes a difference

Nono, i meant that I took out the mods but it was the same issue. Also I made a new discovery, its not the server being hosted thats the issue. Apparently my friends dont see the same animation problems I do. I just checked on an official server and I am getting the same issue. I decided to try reinstalling the client. Tbf, I have played the game off and on since it came out in 2015 (never uninstalled) so maybe that was messing with the files

reinstalling the game did not fix it. The issue is currently: When I join any server (completely vanilla, clean install, no mods), my ping is low <20, but the creatures have like slowed down animations. Almost as if the animation is playing slower and then skipping animation frames to catch up. I have over 80 fps. Ryzen 7800x, Rtx 3080ti, and 500 MBPS Download and Upload. If any one has advice let me know.

sometimes it almost looks like the animations are a slide show, where the creature will change direction and the animation will be delayed in switching.

honestly, i might have figured it out. For those modded dinosaurs, its much more exaggerated than with the vanilla. Its honestly possible that because im running the game at 100+ fps I am noticing the 30 fps server tick rate differences. I could actually be that dumb. I am going to increase the server tick rate and see what that looks like

Does it heat the honey? It mustnt notice you. It has to eat, then you go to it and mount.
Dont forget you have to throw the honey via hotbar. Put it in the last slot, then press the keys to USE it and it will be thrown.
