let's say all your argys are level 200. You'll know you have a mutation if you get a baby that is level 202. Then compare that baby to the adults and see if you got a mutation in health or melee.

So instead of a gun, what if it got a first hit bonus (maybe like 2x extra damage) on anything smaller than it and could pacify any creatures around it similiar to a pachyrhino but on a larger scale, cloaking itself as if it was a normal pig

Sleeping bags are just a cheap respawn/fast travel point. Laying in a bed doesn't do anything either, aside from slow your food/water consumption rate if you're afk, unless it's a tek sleeping pod which adds extra xp.
