in that case, i recommend just starting solo on the island, or on the map called ragnarok
simplest starts, very newb friendly, that's what i did

i just messed about for the first 100 hours, then i started getting the hang of it, looked at videos, tweaked settings, you learn it all really quickly
the game is quite intuitive

it's super easy to learn 80% of the game, it's the latter 20% that is super hard

Can somebody help me, I have bought the genesis season pass ( before the maps came out ), all maps were included with it and I had them downloaded. But I have re downloaded ark and tried to play them and it says dlc not yet installed? When I go on the ps store it says the dlcs are free yet i have no downloaded option anywhere

ok so, a lil while ago i started a singleplayer thing on fjorde, but i feel like my tames get waaaaaay stronger than intended, im talking like bats with 10k hp and like 600-700% melee damage after mild leveling (with imprint that is) and rexes with 30k hp.

the tamed dino stats per level / affinity / add per level sliders are still on default tho (at least i googeled the defaults and they are the same as mine from what i saw)
have i just not played ark for that long or does something seem off?...

Can someone check if I made any mistakes? Below I've posted my math on how many female dinosaurs you would need to get 1 wanted mutation on average each day.

Things to be considered when checking my math:

• In this particular situation, you only breed every 24 hours
• We do not take account of the time it takes to replace the male breeder with the new male (maturation)
• The male breeder has already more than 20 mutations in total
• We only have 1 wanted stat and the creature has 7 stats on which it can receive mutations
• The parent that provides the improved stat has 20 mutations or more (male breeder)

0.0407 * 0.5 * 0.55 * 1/7~ = Y

Example (male +20 mutations): 0.0407 * 0.5 * 0.55 * 1/7 = 0.001599
1/0.001599= 625 (more than tribe limit)
Example (male -20 mutations): 0.0731 * 0.5 * 0.55 * 1/7 = 0.002872
1/0.002872= 348 (more than tribe limit)

1/Y= the amount of females you would need to daily get a mutation in 1 of the wanted stats (probability).

If Male en female are both under 20 mutations, you can divide Y with 1.796 (only need a bit more than half the females)
0.0407 = 4.07% chance of mutation (Male breeder has 20+ mutations) ~ 7.31% when parents have each less than 20 mutations
0.5 = chance of getting daughter instead of son
0.55 = chance of getting best stat of both parents
~ could be 5 (flyers), could be 8 (Maewing, Gacha, maybe others I don't know yet), rest 7
Y = the amount of females you want to daily get a wanted mutation (fastest progress)

Now here's the reason why I want someone or multiple people to check if I didn't make mistakes, I heard people say they got the wanted mutation on a daily basis with only 100 females (while both parents were able to give a mutation), that would result in needing ~180 females once the father reached 20 total mutations. That's a lot less than the 625 (rounded) I got from my math. 😰

I would say the map does matter some things. If you are a beginner, you'll get a very different set of challenges if you start out on certain maps. So I would recommend starting with Island, Ragnarok, or Valguero.

I did the math a bit ago:

1. 7.31% (chance for a mutation) divided by 7 (chance for a melee stat) = 1.044% (chance for a melee mutation)

2. 1.044% multiplied by 0.55 (chance to get the male’s melee stat) = 0.574% (chance for a melee mutation on the already mutated stat)

3. 0.574% multiplied by 0.55 (chance to land on the correct counter, only applicable for past 20/20) = 0.316%

4. 100 divided by 0.316% = 317 eggs for a melee mutation on the already mutated stat when the counter is past 20/20

5. 100 divided by 0.574% = 175 eggs for a melee mutation on the already mutated stat when the counter is before 20/20

Note that doesn’t include whether the baby is male or female, so just multiply by 0.5
