PVP is great if you are part of a sizeable, competent tribe, and/or if you play on a server that has and enforces a "don't be a d***" rule (e.g. don't grief weaker/smaller tribes, don't fully wipe bases, etc.) But that sort of thing is difficult and annoying to enforce.

Non-dedicated is when you host a server on your computer which takes more resources than Dedicated, Also Non-Dedicated also has a tether distance which is the distance the other players can leave without the host, also if you leave the non-dedicated server, the server closes as well.

The type of fish does not matter, it’s all about the size of fish. 0.5 would give lowest effectiveness. 1.0 would be decent. 1.5 and above is best.

I kind of overdid it. I set up a compound with four box traps. Then I fished a few dozen good fish and cryopodded them. Then I kited Shadowmane into the traps and fed them there with relative ease. No anxiety about fish baskets spoiling or dinos wandering in and distracting us.

Set your mount to follow and attack your target. Then if they do, your mount will attack back and hopefully kill the Thyla before it kills you.
Put down sleeping bags nearby just in case you die and need to get back quickly
Or go with other people if you aren't playing solo

If on a flyer, you prevent the attack by being aware of how high off the ground they will be, and flying above that level. If on the ground, the only way to prevent it is to be constantly scanning the trees nearby.
