While a little tricky to master I find there's a perfect timing you can achieve where you can block a Raptor's strikes, get a swing of your own in, and have your shield back up in time to block the next hit infinitely

Whoops, sorry I missed your reply. Season pass 1, I believe, is 25$? A lot of people bought the full game and then dlcs before the 6 year anniversary though. They've simply consolidated the dlcs into passes instead, which tbf most games do.

It subtracts. 200% becomes 120%, 300% becomes 220%, etc
Theres also a multiplier to the damage of 80% on tamed gigas, so a giga doing 500 damage as a wild would do 400 as a tamed (with the same melee stat)

Mantis all day with sword attached bring a few extras when durability gives out and pump melee and health and a little stamina

They wreck through things like it’s candy

A good mantis with high health and decent melee and a nice sword will clear any caves easy. I recommend being a friend or a second on follow and neutral with its own sword equipped for safety but that’s me. I use them for most caves, clear through them without problems
