Honestly its whatever you prefer using, most just recommend theri because of the reduced damage from the dragon and the veggie cake healing. Rexes work perfectly fine, just breed them and get good saddles.

I’d personally do both; theris with veggie cakes/saddles to handle the dragon and then rexes for manticore
(As I’m sure you know) fire, from the dragon, damage scales with size and does more damage to carnivores than herbivores

If you’re doing it through steam, it SHOULD save your progress on the cloud or whatever and you’ll be able to continue once downloading it again

Checking the reviews on the DLC, sorting by negative, can usually tell you. They seem to all go through occasional periods of just.. not working, and sometimes the reviews say how to fix it
