Remember you dont have to download all dlc. You can tick them off and only download what you play on. Will reduce size. But i would say 500 gb is minimum you need for installing and updating ark

Between official servers yes, for unofficial servers server owners have to "cluster" that data together in some way so not all official servers work with this kind of transfer

Like i said. Fast disk is mandatory for speeding up ark updates. There is metric crap load of files to check and update with some updates and with slow disk that can take a loooooong time

It's not a bug that you need to download it from the DLC page. Thats how the DLC maps are.

They're an optional download, to save on space for people who dont want them.

Since people can transfer dinos you need the dinos even if you only play on Island for example. But the map itself, most of those assets you only need if you actually intend to play on it, which is why it's a separate download for people to opt-in to

I might just be nerding out about the game, but its something like...I always thought pokemon had a really neat world, if that makes sense. Where the concept of these creatures that have these unique abilities roam the world and society develops around that, but in the game, it never really reaches that point.

On the other hand...ark really did, genuinely manage that. And, at least to me..could be that im fairly inexperienced here. Most dinos felt like they had long term use in some way or another. Kudos to the developers here.
