Seriosuly, expect to die a lot, not gonna tease. It's a marathon game, not a fight to the finish. A lot of a sandbox, a lot to do. Build a base, hoard items, Tames take hours sometimes.

As far as not damaging nearby wilds, cant avoid hurting the other things that are too close to your tames doing an AOE, and your tames might hurt anything within their attack radius.

If your tames are too far away from you, they may not attack what is attacking you.
