Trying deleting the UserGameSettings.ini file sometimes it's outdated UE5 and deleting will rebake a new one. But your in game settings will be reset completely. Just give it a try ig

probably a compatibility issue/bug between the game and your graphics driver. but the freeze is just a very generic GPU failure. that can be caused by a long list of different things

Ignore that person being unnecessarily gatekeepy, there’s a bunch of different things you can turn off in the game through the command console that makes the game run so much better. There’s no option for them in the settings themselves but one that seems to help a lot of people are r.VolumetricClouds 0 and r.VolumetricFog 0. For others you can look up a video guide and on steam you can add them to the launch options so the game doesn’t reset it automatically when you close the game.

There definitely should be options in the settings for that stuff considering it wasn’t stuff that was in ASE and tanks the fps so hard but yknow, Snailgames.

Also turn off frame generation.

It can't be aggro to anything. Just go tame a bunch of female parasuars and 1 male. You can club them out easily and they tame super quick. Then just breed them and use there eggs.

Yes or a cactus broth. Just throw an egg down a decent bit away. Wait for it to start pecking it then run to the nest. It may take some time for the baby to come to you depending on where its at. But just stay in the nest crouched and be patient. You may only get 1 or 2 dance moves off before the mother cracks the egg depending on what your taming rates are. Just run away/de render then come back and throw another egg down and repeat. Just tame like 8 parasuar females and 1 male that will give you plenty of eggs

You can use a wyvern egg and that usually last the entire time and then you can pick it back up once you tame the baby

They're a rare spawn on the island and spawn in the deep sea parts near the edge of the map, you can look up a video to increase a specific dino spawn rate if you want or just go kill a bunch of stuff in that area and cycle spawns

You know one thing I've been thinking about a lot is how the feel of the game has changed dramatically. In ASE whenever we were taming something of importance. Didn't matter if it was your 1st pt an amazing stat Dino of some kind. It didn't matter Ark would be ark and some Raptor or Dilo or Sabertooth or something would manage to find your tame and have a good old nibble on it, or kill you knowing you had no chance to get back to your tame etc etc. Ark being Ark right? What happened to that survival element of the game. Ensuring you protected your tames whilst taming and took more care yourself. This is completely missing from the game now sadly.

I have a lot of hours in the game I will admit. But this isn't about getting better at the game. I just don't feel as threatened in the environment as I used to in ASE bearing in mind I amassed most of my hours in ASE so would have felt the difference a long time ago if it was just a case of getting better at the game.

A subtle but impactful change would be wild dinos fighting, it happens a lot more now than in ASE and if you walk up to a fight you can now just watch the fight ensue. In ASE you wouldn't have done this because one or both of the dinos would have aggroed to you and stop fighting each other. This on its own isn't a terrible thing but lots of subtle changes to pathing and wild Dino aggression states and ranges I feel has lead to a much less challenging game overall

that setting no longer does anything, memory pool is automatically managed by the game. if you have 8GB or less video memory, there is no way to "fix" it without severe performance losses. lowering your texture quality setting should make everything a bit more balanced

Its a memory leak, only thing you can do to fix it is to restart the game but in the end it'll end up becoming blurry within a small timeframe anyways.

Ive found standard wild dino rates best to not touch, that way you can easier plan taming and bosses and such.
increasing you and your tamed rates to a good point is easier to do rather than changing everything game wide and trying to balance it out

hence why all the DinoWild stats are still 1. but i increase hunger and taming rates for wild dinos, decrease starvation for tamed dinos and players, and lower breeding/cuddle/incubation times overall. This results in wild dinos still being strong, but you having the option to make your tames stronger, as well as maintaining their stats so that when tamed its predictable what you will get out of it.

if you really want to make it easier or harder that way, all you have to do is change the damage resistances for players/wild/tamed dinos

A month ago I tamed a titanosaur on unofficial private server. The head hitbox is literally one pixel. 3 of us used a rhynio with sap to lock the titanosaur in place, hit it with cannonballs. Long story short, we ended up killing two titanosaurs, gave up after using 400 cannonballs with only three of them giving torpor even though they were all perfect headshots. Went to Meks with rockets, managed to tame the titanosaur, but still used around 200 rockets, which are super expensive. Never again. 8hrs of pain.

Bit of advice from someone who just did this, chain bola from the bront, magnifying glass to check health, they have such a small health pool that you might need weak weapons like basic bows to get that last percentage or you might kill it.

The pheromone lasts 5m. So start the fight with bront eating pheromone. Then just deal a ton of damage and use the weak weapons to get it where you need it. So long as you dont take longer than 5m you good [unlikely]

Also check wiki beforehand for the requirements during incubation. Some of thats sucks to get. And you have no time to go run back to a base or something to get it. Also apparently theres a bug where it can starve last second so feed the bront a ton of berries when its at like 1% left. Wiki mentions this

Eh. Seems like the drag weight is meant to add another level of difficulty to the taming. Nothing of high drag weight usually spawns right near where they are so you have to bring them in, makes it obvious when you are trying to tame one in pvp and for pve adds a neat kind of "going on a taming trip" with all the preparation that needs to be done

In any case bront is just best for it because of the high health pool and carry weight [both of which the rhynio can severely lack in] and the platform saddle for bolaing it

Hey, as someone who played ASE for a long time, I’ve been on the fence about picking up ASA. Is it worth it in its current state, or is Wildcard/Snail Games still kind of doing their own thing regarding optimization of any sort? Just looking for an honest take before ruining ark for myself

If you have good hardware to run it and lower your expectations on fps, its wonderful.
Im running 3080 i911900 at 30fps at medium/high settings and its beautiful and fun with all the new dinos. At 60 the frames get unstable. Thats without upscaling though, can get more if you can tolerate fake frames/response time weirdness.
If you dont have good hardware and expect more than 60fps, or expect high quality settings come back after an upgrade.

If you enjoy the core gameplay of ark, nothing really has changed. It has its issues, and its performance intensive, but the new dinos and QOL mechanics make it worth it if you temper expectations

That's just the code of the game ATM seen a few unofficial people complaining how easy it is to dupe. It's even easier than ase to dupe slightly harder but still easier than ase on official too games just broken mate. I didn't even mean to an I duped my wyvern carch and have 3 of same character on official I threw duped creatures as they could bug my proper 1s out if they on same server at same time but kept the characters for my different servers so don't have to transfer just swap servers

You go to an obelisk or supply drop, upload your character, then exit to menu, and load up that map, upon doing that itll give you an option to download the character

But be advised if you want to do this just to revive that dino, without massive boosted settings it may be hard to get the oasisaur in time unless you take a flying mount and armor and such with you [ you can also transfer some items and dinos as well, check the wiki]
