Hello everyone, no matter what I do, ARK doesn't seem to use more than 4GB of RAM, as if there's some sort of limitation. I've tried adding options like -USEALLAVAILABLEMEMORY and -nomemorybias to Steam launch settings, along with several other methods, but ARK remains limited to 4GB of RAM. They are legitimate babies. I don't remember if they got nerf'd when the Monkey babies got added. But you originally could steal them from their parents with a Maewing.

But the Lost Island Monkeys really jacked up a lot of the baby logic so Wildcard just blocked a lot of Maewing stuff instead of fix it.

I have a breeding pair that have identical stats. They have 34 points in health, 25 stam, 25 weight, 35 melee, 30 ox, 19 food. Are these good enough for a line or should I look to improve them. Okay this is odd... so I was moving my creatures around and when I got on my saber I noticed he had the winded buff, but his stam was full.

Id say yes but...id be careful. Depending on what mods you use, if you forget to remove one and build with it , then your build would be gone. Also, if you accidentally bring a modded dino to a non modded server, im not sure what would happen. Had a friend do that and lost all their dino because they forgot to add the storage mod back in and logged in without it .

You just have to fly without using run. It's not that much slower.

Even a trash level 20 moth can make it from peak to peak in Scorched if you never touch run. Just slow fly.

My 2cts: wait until you fix your PC. I play on a laptop with an RTX 3070 and AMD Ryzen 7 6800hz. On 1080p I can barely get 30fps on low-medium settings. Becomes even lower during sunrise/sunset or in the jungle when there are lots of trees. Game is just too hitchy to play well, in my opinion. I am sticking with ASE until I build my new PC next year. Obviously personal preference, but this would be my advise.

are you using any modified ini config file options, or other launch options? the low memory use and low performance may be both symptoms of the same thing, but there is no way to manually control the memory use directly. if the game cant allocate as much memory as it needs, it just crashes

or you can read through the hundreds of lore pages in the story arks to know the story

but you dont need to do all of that, you summon each boss at each obelisk (the big towers)

get their trophies and take them inside of the volcano to the middle of the map and you can summon the overser

you should watch a video on the basics of completing the island map since playing ark as a new player is the equivalent of being thrown in the middle of the pacific ocean

if you want to really really get into which you have, use the maps on wiki.gg. They have an interactive checklist system.

I used it to compelete my dossier collection and visit each of the notes I was missing after "finishing" the island.

Sadly, I'm still on level 110 from the chibi + regular 105 max even with all the bonus levels from alpha ascension. The XP grind is just that serious higher up.

no, there are optimal speeds to torpor a dino. Check dododex, it allows you to change the intervals between shots not just the % damage your weapon has.

Any idea how to repair an .ark where nothing is saved in it? I can load it, connect to it, build it, after restart everything is gone. 3 server, all server have the same mods - only one has the problem. I don't think it's a mod problem. Then I would have that on the other servers too. On my test system (1:1 copy of Nitrado live system), I have exactly the same problems. So I can rule out a defective mod

That's the problem ...
On the evening of 5 August we were quite active on the server. I took over a base from a former player. It was a bit tricky because some structures were not taken over directly. For example, I had to remove a tek storage to take over structures underneath it. Everything worked so far. I reset the storage box (that was around 10 pm).
6.8. we did not play. (By the way, the setting is reboot every 6 am and I think every 2 hours backup)
7.8.: Loop due to SQL error.

So we used the last savegame before the error. The storage box was missing here. So we took the older one. It was missing everywhere. Apparently the savegame was lost at some point on 5 August. We then used a savegame from 5 August. First one (23:20) with missing tek storage and then - finally - one from BEFORE (21:20). There were also other things that had not been done. I hope my fellow admin still has older savegames. But apparently this happened in the middle of a working one (5.8. 21:10) ... something corrupted the savegame. Unfortunately Nitrado only saves for a few days. From time to time we pull all .gz files... (unfortunately I don't have any)

So I'm looking for some other way to restore the savegame. I have already checked it with SQL-Lite - everything is ok 😦

The SQL error occurred on 7 August after the reboot. However, we are already at a savegame from 5 August (reboot was then 6 August). So the SQL error seems to have nothing to do with it. It came later. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see if you can repair a savegame.

Not necessarily. I can play at 40fps on an ASUS ROG ALLY at min settings 720p, and can do 60FPS on my Ryzen 7 3900X, 92GB RAM, and RX6950 on high settings.

Reminds me of a game I play called Supreme Commander. An RTS game that has a max of 16 players, each of which can control up to 5000 units. Yeah. I remember an 8v8 match I had that turned into a nuclear stalemate. The entire center of the map was a radioactive wasteland, filled with the husks of hundreds millions of destroyed war machines. Artillery salvoes numbering in the thousands of shells being lobbed back and forth. That match lasted about 5 hours before a single artillery shell caused a chain reaction of power plants to go nuclear in one of their bases. From them on it was a flood of destruction.

Could be something as simple as a firewall rule needs to be tweaked, or the service rebooted, but you'd need to talk to someone at curseforge infratstructure/service desk direcrly

its probably some verification step, where it pulls the mod list and updates your client, that broke. Since people who got on to servers prior to the issue were able to remain in them unless servers restarted or they disconnected.

Its an embarrassing issue, and hopefully something they can find a way to bypass.

It is annoying that those of us paying to host servers lose X amount of time from our paid server due to this though.

Pretty much. When you host a game any other players are tethered to you so when they get to far away they will be pulled back towards you. Only way to remedy that is by having an independent server (i.e. renting one or building your own machine).

Also when you host, your friends can only play when your machine is on (this is for the PC platform, don't know anything about consoles, sorry).

I got loads of flower pots. But just this week I noticed every time I bring up my inventory there’s just a second of delay and it’s driving me crazy. I hope the engine update fixes it.

@tired matrix can't promise this will help but look up how to use the Save World command and do that before you log out it helped my buddy on ASE when he had a similar instance on Xbox
