Because if you really want to play Ark, you'll need all the maps, which Ascended gives you for free. On Evolved, you'll have to purchase two season passes.

Kind of the idea. You have to deal with the complexity of navigating a giant tree if you want Gachas. Can't just fly in a Quetzal and pick-n-place.

It's not so much that air combat is lacking and flying is boring in Ark. it is more that there is so much wealth in interactions on the ground and even in the sea.

Like you can be on a beach threatened by dillos, pegos, microraptors while at the same time navigating chails, bears and snakes.

You can chose to run creatures into each other or trap them on rocks or just go full murder hobo if you have the dps.

On a flyer? You just slow boat away until the AI gives up.

You should leave to doors to exit and tranq the thyla when its trapped inside

The best place to tame them is on scorched earth, north of the map left of green orb, you will find a lot of thylas there

Other than moving them or trying to snap them to foundations for a flatter surface, not really. You can also slide foundations under them as a more crude way of covering holes

there is not much you can do aside from trying to fly slowly, give things time to load and clean up as you travel. series S can barely run the game as it is. keeping small bases and not too many dinos, no cosmetics, ect helps

FSR3 framegen is coming with the engine upgrade/aberration release

framegen will not be much use on a lower-mid-range GPU like that, though. it tends to make things look hilariously worse unless you have a high framerate already. common wisdom is 90+ real fps for FSR3, AMD themselves recommends no less than 60 as a target for developers

that GPU is nowhere near powerful enough for such a high resolution in general or in a game like this. you need a GPU about 4x as powerful, or a way lower res monitor/in-game res. setting the game resolution scale to 60-70% and antialasing/upscaling to TSR is a starting point until FSR3 is added

ultrawide 1440p is extremely demanding and high end, you have a basic entry level GPU from a generation ago 🤷

Well, I play on a 7900XTX in 4k but will drop fps into the 20s when fog rolls in. But only on the Island. So when I play on the Island in ASA I use a lower resolution in a window. Otherwise shooting things is worse than a high ping server during a school holiday.

Steam and ark's frame counters do disagree about this but the lag gets real in complex scenes with the fog, like over Far Reach or down on around the Volcano when some Rex or Carno has started a mosh pit.

Island map. Volcano (check in the walls), top of the mountains in north. And just recently I found some spawned right in front of the Snow Cave on blue Ob mountain.
Note that Carchas move very fast and can get out of their spawn range then despawn.

Carchs and Gigas can spawn together and don't aggro each other. Just be aware.

Yeah, I've had to clear blue OB on the Island a couple times because Gigas spawn on it in ASA.

I prefer using a hatch-frame quetzal to tame or kill Gigas. Some luck with NTT (No-Trap Taming) and using Captain Fat Dogs or Nooblets basic Carchar method.

And anything that is in the Volcano is 90% probably going to die to lava. Level 10? Lava. Level 140? Lava. Level 145? Also lava. Even trying to feed them your corpse to heal them doesn't seem to help.

Just remember that if you put down foundations near spawn locations it can block spawning.
Earlier someone had left foundations on the mountains for their Rhynio to drop off vaults for their ankys. It was killing the spawns for Gigas.

honestly, get a 140 minimum and level it up heavily - just by running around the river and killing other karkinos/spino, I don't think a lvl80 spino would survive there

and to get the minimum 140, also just run around from one end of the river to the other - check the spino levels, if it's bad, kill, if it's good, tame - killing them will make new one's spawn

Gportal is great. The interface is more user/beginner friendly, their support is typically very good (of course you can get a bad apple from there but that's any company), and the servers rarely had any issues in my experience.

Again, you list tames tames, Nebby, that are meerly powerful but not 'over' poweringly so. The only one you listed that is actually OP is the shadomane as it upset the actual balance of the game. Even the Carchar is just a Giga with regen/rage mechanics instead of raw power.

If you want to restrict yourself to a certain conduct, there are even RP style servers where people do such things. But you are Role Playing a different game than other people. It will be easier to play solo or single player or on a private server as others may not follow your chosen conduct.

Gigas and Carchars cannot be used for bosses. Rex at 560 weight is the limit and suck for the Dragon.

On Extinction you use Gigas as meat sheilds or raw DPS. Lots of other tames work. The Managammr is actually very effective if used with skills.

Why? Unless you play moodded or boosted, Gigas for King Titan are a 5 minute distraction then a mess of meat everywhere.

You just have Giga meat smear all over the areana and Gigas sitting all over the forbidden zone.

Pretty much everything spawns at all the time. The spawners in the maps run on a cooldown. And they don't care if the area is loaded or not. You can have dinos drop in right on your head.

I tamed a oasisaur for the first time, it's supposed to have an inventory for it's passive production of random materials which you can see on it's back but when I tamed it and started flying it back to my base everything on the back disappeared and can't find out how to access the inventory for the passive resources and the stuff won't grow back, I haven't built on it or anything and it has food
