Sounds like your GPU or CPU is failing, try checking the task manager processes while you run the game to see how hard those are struggling

My PC meets all but two specs one of which is simple being RAM cause I only have 16GB, but I still have two open slots for more.

My 2080 Super is just barely out of reach. I could probably run it at minimal settings however at that point I'd rather just play it on my Xbox Series X before I ran a game at minimal settings.

afaik dododex assumes you are using the berries at max efficiency, which means never letting the dino torpor drop for more than brief periods. if torpor fills, remaining torpor gain is wasted and it drops

So far I'd have to say mine was encountering the giant boat destroying fish in one of the maps. Forget which exactly. I was trying to get to a small island off the coast and decided to travel via raft only to get a moderate jumpscare.

Personally for me, it was actually recently. A friend and I were playing a private ase server and we were looking for high level tyrannosaurs but no luck. When he was off looking for other high level Dino’s I was at carnivore island looking for Rexes still and I seen the tail of an alpha Carno and I freak out sense I’m on a saber tooth that’s over lvl 200 which I’m leveling for cave exploration. I notify my friend which heads over and gets ready to fight. I see another Carno with the alpha but due to it being behind the main alpha I saw I assumed the second Carno was just a normal one…

It was a mating pair of high level alpha carnos… my friend and I split the pair up and fought them 1 on 1. My saber nearly died while my friends argy easily killed the other alpha carno.

The crashes seem to be a crash happening during the server saving and that's why we get so many rollbacks. It's hit or miss if the crash happens before or after the save is done and I would guess one of the things saved as part of that would be demolish timers. So yeah when each crash happens the timers go back to the last number it had saved or if none is saved back to full time.

This game is not fit for purpose when Steam issues a refund after 44 hours and 2 weeks, and i got it. Constant crashing, and no mention of it by the devs, at all. I'll consider buying it again once they have fixed this, plus the insanely bad performance. Just letting you know, Steam is very flexible on this title, if you regret it, you can get a refund. My 1080Ti I set game to low and then turn shadows down and motion blur off and light shafts off and still only get 58 fps in my base and 35 when moving and it can even dip lower. Feels so ugh lower than 60 and worse the lower it gets. On low the game basically looks like ASE on fairly high settings but with lower FPS. First game the 1080Ti has struggled with haha.

The server is not overly compute intensive, but you probably want 32 gigs ram. The server uses about 10 gigs unloaded. And if you want to run multiple servers on a cluster, 32 is minimum. The HDD needs to be a SSD.

Ark not the only game to ever use a tether. State of Decay 2 uses a tether. It a feature that keeps from overloading someone game in hosted sessions versus server sessions

With there being different types of servers, like console only, PC only, crossplat, how will server transfers work. Would a PC player playing on a PC only server be able to transfer to a crossplat server with console players and then transfer back to a PC only server? Or would they be restricted to transferring between PC only servers?

Same with a crossplat console player. Would they be able to transfer out and go to a console only server while still retaining the ability to go back to a crossplat server? Or would they be restricted to crossplat only server transfers

Do they treat pve and pvp the same? I'm mainly concerned about pve because that's what I play and don't recall being restricted to a cluster of servers, unless that cluster was fairly large and I didn't notice. But then my question still remains, if they'll allow transfers between crossplat and current-platform-only within that cluster, at least for pve.

So the crashing fixes are abundant and don't work for most (heck even i crashed every 10-15minutes).. but I did the win11 23h2 iso update and have not crashed since, been 30+ hours of gameplay/crafting bases/managing boxes/breeding etc.. even the newest patch no crashes...yet.
