I had a gigantic adobe base in the dead center of the map on one of those giant plateaus. I loved building that base. I broke down a base down the way from me and they had a cryo fridge with an insanely muted giga. I named him Steve. He would down a 150 alpha rex in 3 bites

my only hated map is Gen 1. it was horrible having to tp everywhere when the game is NOT optimized for suddenly changing location, building there sucked because of all the mission zones, and it sucked having to do ALL the missions to fight the boss, especially because most missions flat out require you to have help

Dinos spawn with a random level each level gives one stat point. So if dino is level 76 it has 75 stat points placed randomly, 75 becaus level 0 dinos dont exist. After taming it gets a little foggy for me.

after taming, theres a 50% level taming bonus. if your tame is level 100, it will max get 49 levels extra, because you cant get 100% taming efficiency, meaning 50%-1 level bonus. each of these levels counts as one randomly assigned stat point as well, increasing the creatures stats further. now when breeding, for each stat there is, a dice is rolled. 55% that the baby will get the higher stat points from whichever parent it is, 45% to get the lower amount of stat points.

when breeding, you count stats with stat points, not the actual stat. dino storage V2 helps with that. but if the 32k hp and 800% melee damage are the higher stat, you breed again and again until those stats are combined, although you have the extra 5% of the higher stat on your side TWICE, so it is more likely for both stats to be combined than not

With well over 10k hours I can say that your complaint is based off of your play style, while I agree that net guns need some fixes (specifically distances required to shoot, IE: you need to be far enough away for the net to open to the size of your target) the play style of a YOLO rusher and the style of someone that makes the enemy go into a trap or choke point are going to be completely different and each of them is going to hate certain things the other has the advantage of. I heard lots of complaints during the plant Y wars when those were a meta, first week of Rag one side hated the griffin and wanted it nerfed, other side wanted saddles. But this game isn’t a round based shooter, it has multiple metas if you can utilize them.

I think Meks on launch of extinction shooting turrets from out of range, and Magmasaurs somehow having the sane flaw in the dlc directly following, demonstrate perfectly how little thought goes into balancing for pvp before content is released. It's probably not even 1% of the total time spent. And that's a huge chunk of the playerbase suffering from that. Mainly the most dedicated pvp enjoyers. I don't think long lasting metas where all of the strongest things are also the easiest to use end up being a good thing ever. It kills a lot of the fun for a lot of the playerbase. Even if it's not a majority, it's a passionate minority of people and putting a little more effort into taking care of their needs would work wonders. Content creation for ark has been mostly dead ever since Kishko left ages ago and I don't blame him and the other legends for quitting when they did.

Nanite is a system to make static meshes run significantly better, and reduce memory required. So instead of 10 level of detail models per every static model like a rock or tree, you have 1 model, that uses nanite to dynamically change lod depending on your pixel density.

Lumen, while a really cool bit of lighting software, is still very heavy. And the more complex the geometry gets, the harder lumen is to run.

A forest scene with dynamic swaying bushes, grass, trees, with giant moving dinos that effect that foliage, is going to nuke some people's graphics cards.

Crossplay will be available day 1 with Windows, Xbox, and PS. You can join console only servers though.

Steam will be crossplay later.

I have an old cluster thats going official and want us to play so I was hoping I'd be able to play but if I have to wait the steam version always runs better
