Rings have never been a compelling system to guide a race track in any game I can think of

Genesis 1 already knows when you're going out of balance for the race and will teleport you back on track, just make those borders visible and do that instead

The ring system just makes any of the races on the less precise mounts like the hover skiff or whatever miserable

i feel like the cons outweigh the pros when it comes to adding boundaries to most races though. it'd be hard to balance an area out from both a general gameplay perspective and a race perspective. im imagining a race with boundaries incorporated into a biome and it doesnt seem like it'd fit without ruining immersion/fun for one or the other. though i cant deny that maybe im just stupid and there is an easy way to balance both areas out without doing the gen 2 method.

so pick your highest natural (pre-tame) melee and health, then breed them together, your end goal is for the baby to have one parent's health, and one parent's melee, on the same dino (repeat until you get one male and one female)

then breed those until you get a mutation, then identify, repeat (do not breed the mutated one unless its male iirc)

If I understand it correctly, the issue is that a mutated offspring will be 6/20 (5+0+1). The next generation will be 12/20 (5+6+1). So you'll quickly reach 20/20 on the male and won't get any mutations on the male side anymore.

I got a strange problem and it seems like it only applies to me, my friends are fine.
My character can carry 300 weight max, it would make sense to become encumbered at 270 weight or more.
But I actually start to become encumbered at 180 weight (almost only half) and start moving slower before getting the encumbered debuff at 240 weight

If a dino is 20/20 on the male side and 18/20 on the female, then that dino is 38/20.

Mutations can only occur on parents that are below 20/20. So if you breed a 5/20 with a 38/20, you only have half the chance of mutation as you would if both parents were below 20/20.

If both parents are 20/20 or over, you can't get mutations

In my rex breeding, I stopped at 20 damage mutations since the chance for mutations would drop by 50%. Then I started over with a 0/20 male and started going for health mutations. When I reach 20 health mutations, I'll have one rex with 20 health mutations and one with 20 damage mutations. Then I'll breed them and get rexes with 20 mutations in both health and damage.

If you start with 0/20 parents, then you breed them until you get an offspring with a mutation in the stat you want. If the offspring is male, then you can use it immediately. If it's female, then you breed it with a 0/20 male until you get a male offspring with the mutated stat.

The you breed the 1/20 male with the 0/20 females until you get a second mutation in the desired stat. If it's female, then you breed it with the 0/20 male until you get a male with the mutated stat. Now you have a 2/20 male and you just keep going.

No, I don't think so. The male line doesn't max out that quickly. Getting 20 mutations in a stat takes a while.
If you want to go beyond 20 mutations in a stat, then one parent must be below 20/20 to be able to get mutations. So I'd keep the females at 0/20 and just keep stacking mutations on the male. The chances of getting mutations will be lower, so it'll take longer.
If your female is 80/20 and the male is 20/20, then you can't get any mutations at all, since both parents are at 20/20 or over.

Make sure you have the settings on and either told them to search via password protected or non-password and the server is set up the same way especially with Nitrado. New servers can take 15-30 minutes to be visible loading even when searching by server name so it might take a hot second, this will also commonly happen if you buy multiple servers to make a cluster for yourself

Then it may be your connection is not strong enough or your local settings are not correct, what are you running for the settings? Keep in mind self generated maps can be a bit wonky/glitchy with friends as they often can not tether far from the host without issue.

So umm I have a technical question and I don't think there's anywhere else to put it. Does anyone know if crash zones are just a common thing on Genesis part one now? Because there's a few spots on the arctic zone that just keep crashing me and I can't even log in now because of it. I've tried everything; from verifying the files (4 times today) to wiping download caches and restarting my whole PC. Everything short of just reinstalling. I get the 'UE4-ShooterGame Game has crashed and will close' popup with strings of code and it keeps referring to build/lostisland. So I thought maybe my Lost Island file was causing issues and did away with that. Nada.

Good observation. I suspect the reason is either or (1) Nekatus wasn't given access to the blizzard feature or (2) he didn't like the feature. I'm going with #2, because we already know he wasn't shy about mentioning specific features he liked and didn't like, and he deliberately left things out or worked very hard to include them, depending.

i was just killing weaker things, but then i ran into a primal basilisk which emits huge amounts of torpor once disturbed, so we all got knocked out when the reapers showed up

yeah the beta dinos u get from breeding have insanely high stats, but tenacious as said being very strong are also very tough to knock out. i had like 11 beta raptors in my pack, all of them got slaughtered before i could level them up
