With the right build pieces, you can build easy traps that will hold rexes in place for you so you can safely knock them out.

the crafted sickle is actually pretty decent for fiber, the only tool that feels like its worth using
also if you have a ptera, you can try to scout the areas where there are scorpions and arthropluras. the latter ones spit. but both are super slow and you can kill em from afar with a bow easily. just make sure to watch for other stuff nearby but tons of chitin early on

the patch isnt 115 gigss its downloads the patch then scans the whole install file to where it needs to be to then patch it requiring twice the storage and like X10 the amount of time.
WC is about the only company that patches games like this
