it takes a long time if your drive is slow as shit, because steam basically copies the whole game before updating it. nothing to do with your internet. all large archived games do it. check your drive speed and check what actual drive steam is using to patch the game.
samsung stuff is mostly crap, but that particular model is decently good at sustained write performance. steam may just not be actually using it for patching
