the game is owned by the publisher (snail games). the developers (wildcard) switched to working on ark 2 and ascended, and the publisher decided they wanted to make a new DLC for evolved for some reason and created a new studio (studio siren) to handle it. seemingly little to no people who had any past experience with ark development 🤔

the DLC is a trashfire, and they almost totally broke mod support and ruined performance of the game in general

the whole thing is just bizarre. a few modders could have made a better DLC without breaking the fucking game

I have a few PC friends that are having issues when trying to join games after the update that happened 3-4days ago. They can click on most things and it will work except, the join button highlights orange but neither one of them can click to actually join any server. They can't use the back button, refresh or even save the settings
It just won't click on anything.

Idk if the button hit box is moved around on the screen but it's been like this for 4days now. Is there anyway to join the game without clicking the button? Cause it is clearly still not working. Thank you for your time.

Good way to avoid hackers is to not use the public servers run by WC and join a server where someone actually controls things. Lots of players out there have them and might be worth checking with them. Hackers are a real issue for every mulltiplayer game i know of. At least with an unofficial ded-server you can control who is there and who is not

there are many other games where it is impossible not to run into hackers. At least on a dedicated server run by someone other than WC you have the ability to control who can and who cannot be on the server. I run a server for each map for my close friends to play with. We avoid any issues with cheaters and trolls that way. Sad we can't enjoy the public servers but there are just to many cheats/trolls/jerks to play public anymore. I have not seen a single game that is open to public where I have not encountered cheats - so now I don't play those games. I am too old to waste my time letting anyone own space in my head or get in my way playing a game meant for relaxation and fun. I'm sorry you have had such hard times with the cheats but they are like flies and outdoor dining - you can't have one without the other anymore unless you go to a very controled environment and that means it cannot be run by someone who looks for profit as thier primary focus. WC could do a LOT BETTER with player enforcement and dealing with hacks, but the cost of it is too much. Already we have to put up with constant 'updates; to deal with hacks and seems like I can't jsut login to play anymore without needing and update to fix an exploit - that is getting worse becasue these exploits are now being found by bots learning how to probe for them and they poke and prod 24x7 to find holes to exploit.

the short answer for someone who is obviously not a game developer is that movement in ark is not continuous. the client says where it thinks it is, what time it is, and where it wants to go by another time. the server then has to decide what to do with that.
if it harshly enforces what it thinks the correct speed for an actor is, you get severe rubberbanding for players with slow connections, and everyone is seen desynced.

I think some players get confused by that. If you get the "we're investigating" response, that means there was enough evidence to warrant an investigation and that's actively being undertaken. It's not some standard automated reply. Yeah, it's copypasta (I know because I wrote it for our GM's haha) but that response means something

#bug-reports is read by QA every workday morning, everything with an internal repro is gathered and triaged in Jira. Doing that here too would be redundant (and would get outta hand). Mesh holes on older ASA maps are reported. I doubt there's many that aren't. Some have been fixed and others are awaiting one. It's a matter of level design being given the go ahead on when to work on that vs other tasks. Everything is triaged

the reports aren't falling into a void though, I feel like you suspect that may be the case and that's part of your frustration

That is not a good argument tho. How does the game not being pvp-first game justify half the game being broken. Because wether you like it or not, the game itself is split into 2 parts; pvp and pve. A good studio foucuses on both equally, or removes one entirely if its faulty. But they wont since its a cash grab, and they actually profit from cheaters who get banned and just buy another account.
